Jala was born an elite class warrior during the controversial reign of King Vegeta the II, and was born the same year as his far more popular son, Prince Vegeta the III. Her family was known to have exceptional skill and strength in battle, second only to the royal family themselves. However... Jala was different. From birth, her power level was a huge 10k, shocking not only her family, but the King himself. Now, if this were King Vegeta the III, Jala would've been sent off to some backwater planet to live a miserable and lonely life. However, King Vegeta the II was a bit more... tactful. He decided instead of becoming jealous of this child, he could use her power to further the saiyan empire.
From birth, Jala was already shown to be exceptional in a lot of ways. Her strength was one thing, but she was already considered extremely adept at fighting as soon as she was ready. Jala and Prince Vegeta the III would spar often, with Jala always beating her royal sparring mate every time. The prince was initially frustrated at this power and battle tact gap, but as time went on and they grew older, this frustration turned to... interest. This "interest" in Jala was planned by both Jala's parents and King Vegeta the II since Jala and Prince III's power levels were read. Since Jala was so strong, she had to become a part of the royal family. Her sparring matches also served to further the Prince's power as well. Soon enough, they would be... "equal". And so, they were betrothed. Jala's parents were ecstatic and both Vegeta's were happy with this arrangement... but Jala herself initially refused to even consider marrying Vegeta the III.
This all changed, however, about a year after the two were betrothed. At age 15, both were sent on a mission to a specific planet. Of course, they were alone together for a reason, their parents arranged it. They were more than capable of exterminating the residents themselves... but one thing hadn't been mentioned in the file on the planet they were eradicating. Fusion. During their mission to Planet Metamor, the residents of the Planet managed to begin fusing with one another, multiplying their forces power by hundreds and hundreds of times. Eventually, even the young prodigy Jala was a bit overwhelmed by the overwhelming power of the Metamorans.
However, seeing a girl that he'd taken an interest in in danger made something... click inside of Prince Vegeta. He gathered a ball of energy in his hand in a last ditch effort, and threw it towards the sky. The Metamorans paid it no mind, believing it to just be a last ditch effort from a dying child... but no, this was something new, something never seen before. Prince Vegeta had been developing a technique to impress his betrothed for a while now. He screams...
"Burst, open and mix!"
Jala looked at the ball of energy in the air and felt a surge of power surge in her body... as she grew into a Great Ape, alongside Prince Vegeta. After, it was quite a simple ordeal to exterminate Planet Metamor. All the residents fell to the duo's combined power as Great Apes.
As the power ball dissipated, Jala looked into the Prince's eyes, and just smiled. She saw something in him she'd never seen before... a competent warrior, a passionate fighter and most of all... she saw an equal.
A few months later, the wedding went off without a hitch, and King Vegeta the II stepped down as King Vegeta the III became the true ruler of Planet Vegeta. Jala was excited with her new royal status, until she realized it meant the man she had grown to admire couldn't go on missions with her anymore... As the years passed and King Vegeta became less and less enthusiastic, Jala went on more and more missions, consolidating incredible amounts of strength. Her power soared higher and higher, 15k... 20k... 30k... She was unstoppable.
One day, Jala had enough. She was bored of missions, there was no more challenge to them anymore because of her overwhelming strength. There was no fun anymore... and she realized this was because her King wasn't by her side. She was confused by this feeling, and decided to confront it the only way she knew how.
"Vegeta!"
"That's King Veget-... O-Oh! Queen Jala! What can I do for you to-"
"Cut the bullcrap, you know why I'm here."
"I... I really don't..."
"Let's spar, just like old times, you dummy."
"Now? I have royal duties to attend to-"
"I don't care. You're coming with me, or you're losing your tail. Now lets. Go."
King Vegeta and Jala entered a room to spar, just like old times. King Vegeta wore his combat armor (Z Fit) for the first time in years, as he faced the goalpost... no... the woman who had always bested him in combat. A true Super-Elite.
As they spar for the first time in years, King Vegeta finds himself struggling to keep up with Queen Jala's immense speed and strength. He was about to use his Great Ape form, but she quickly grabbed his arm, and prevented him from even forming the ki in his hand. As the ki exploded and made King Vegeta stumble... Jala rushed in and punched King Vegeta down to the ground, using half her strength to overwhelm the King.
As punch after punch landed, Jala's rage turned into an expression of something more, an expression of her true feelings.
"You idiot! Why don't you ever talk to me anymore?! Why don't you fight with me!? Why are you always stuck in your throne room?!"
Her blows get a bit stronger.
"Why did you abandon me?! Why did you leave me behind?!"
Tears rolled down her face. Her blows get stronger, but she slows her punches. King Vegeta lies, battered but conscious. Jala prepares for one final blow.
"Why don't you love me?!"
The final blow, and those words, hit the hardest. Every scouter active in the room exploded as the final blow, one directly in the chest of the young King, landed.
Jala looks around. The other elites look at her in shock, as the scientists take notes. King Vegeta lays on the ground, knocked out by the final, powerful blow. Jala hears one sentence utter from his lips, however.
"I do."
After this fight, Queen Jala officially disappeared from the public eye, with the match between her and the King remaining strictly confidential. Her interest in going on saiyan missions starkly declined anyway, she was far too powerful for any bug to suit her tastes.
Although the true events of the match between Jala and Vegeta were hidden, rumors and legends of the Queen's strength began to spread. In an era between King Cold and Frieza, Jala was the apex of power to the saiyan common people, so they clung to legends of her exterminating planets single handedly or even some whispered utterances of her being the Super Saiyan. Jala and the King never address these rumors, but both are quietly happy to know that Jala is being appreciated.
A few years pass... and King Cold arrives on Planet Vegeta. Their "Scout Scopes'' couldn't even detect the immense power King Cold held. Jala herself felt an immense pressure whenever in the presence of Cold, one she couldn't understand. Was he truly this powerful? This power... it frightened her. As the saiyans began to work under the Cold Force in exchange for better technology and power, Jala still remained in the shadows, privately living happily with King Vegeta, who had loosened up on his royal duties to spend more time with his Queen Jala, the most powerful saiyan alive. Jala was happy with this arrangement, and even allowed King Vegeta to publicly claim to be the most powerful saiyan, as long as she had him.
More time passes, and the King and Queen decide to have a little Prince to continue their legacy. After much discussion, with Jala wanting to name their son Tarble and the King wanting to continue the legacy of Vegeta, Jala compromises and allows Vegeta to name his first son Prince Vegeta IV.
Around the same time, a young infant named Broly is born, with a fluctuating power akin to the young prince. While King Vegeta has concerns of the young boy surpassing even his own son, Jala sees some of herself in the young child, and convinces the King that rather than executing the child outright, they should just exile him to a desolate planet, and see if he manages to take it over for their empire. Events of the Broly movie happen.
As Vegeta grows older, Queen Jala takes a liking to his inherent power and prodigious nature. She trains with him, enjoying fighting and sparring with her little prince for the first time since her battle with the King all those years ago... In the eyes of her little prince, she sees that same spark, that flame of passion and love of fighting that her Vegeta had on Metamor all those years ago...
Meanwhile, as Lord Frieza rises to power, the whispers of the saiyan people, their legends and stories breed doubts and caution in his mind about the saiyan people... legends of the Super Saiyan... the Super Saiyan God... and one last thing...
The Queen of the Saiyans... her untold power was said to be unmatched by any warrior throughout the universe. Some saiyans said she was even stronger than the King... Some told she was stronger than a Super Saiyan... and some even suggested that she was stronger than Frieza. Of course, most of these were just stories and legends, born from the intrigue of the more secretive nature of Queen Jala... but Frieza did not take this Queen's power lightly...
Even more time passes, and King Vegeta decides with Jala to have a second child. Expanding the royal family would prove only beneficial to increasing the power and influence of the saiyan army, in his eyes. Jala agreed. She would enjoy fighting another little prince, if he was anything like Vegeta. Jala had grown to love her son's strength and vigor, so much so that she was even considering going back out on the field to a mission with him after the birth of Tarble...
However... he wasn't what either the King or Queen expected.
Tarble was born around a month earlier than expected, with an exceptionally low power level for an elite. Only around 700. This worried King Vegeta, but Jala was insistent that he would grow to be a powerful asset to the king. However, as time went on, and Tarble exited his pod... he was different.
Tarble cried. He had really poor motor skills... he was a baby. King Vegeta saw this as a complete failure, and wanted nothing more than to forget entirely about his son... but Jala... Jala saw something different.
Tarble represented a break away from saiyan ideals. His uniqueness and low power level... Previously, Jala would be just like the king, writing him off as a failure to the royal family and having him exiled... but when she spent time with the new baby... she felt something. She felt something she never felt before, an urge to protect her spawn, to prevent him from being harmed. She wanted him to be safe.
As King Vegeta made the orders to send Tarble off to a distant star, Jala herself objected, making a public appearance for the first time in over a decade. She pleaded publicly with the King, to allow her son, her new pride, to live.
"All those years ago, during my final sparring match, do you remember your words? Do you remember what you told me?"
The King looked at her, and with a heavy heart... gave the order for Tarble to be sent away... Jala screamed, as the pod flew out into space. The King himself was seen quickly exiting the chamber. One can only imagine the flurry of thoughts and emotions flowing in his mind.
Jala opted not to accept this, using her immense strength to break out of the Palace and shoot after the pod in space. She didn't have time to enter her own pod, she had to save her son... and the only way she could was to fly directly after him.
As the pod escaped the upper atmosphere, and Jala chased after it as fast as she could, she could feel her limbs freeze, and her blood boil... the vacuum of space attempted to crush her, to stop her... but that just wouldn't work.
Around the same time, another pod was being shot off the world, a pod containing the hope and savior of not only the saiyans, not only the universe but the multiverse at large... On Planet Vegeta, a similarly passionate mother could be heard crying out in agony, screaming to her son the same words the desperate queen uttered in her seemingly final breaths as she finally reached the ship…
"You have to survive! Please, my son! SURVIVE!"
Queen Jala kicked the pod slightly off course with her remaining strength, sending it from a course of directly into the star, to the surface of a planet called Tech-Tech. Jala smiled, as her nearly frozen body, cold and half-dead like a corpse slowly drifted back into the atmosphere of Planet Vegeta...
CRASH!
Right outside the Saiyan Capitol, a huge explosion was heard, and the charred, barely alive body of Jala was found. She was quickly taken in, and placed in a Saiyan healing pod to heal her injuries. King Vegeta watched her pod intently, scared of the possibility of losing her. He couldn't exactly say why out loud... but deep down, in his own way, it was out of a love and respect for his saiyan wife. He was proud she'd saved Tarble, risking her life for the life of another saiyan, despite his perceived worthlessness to the saiyan empire...
As Jala woke up, the King welcomed her back into the castle with open arms. As the final days of the Saiyan race drew closer and closer, Jala and Vegeta spent their time together, happy with one another and happy to have met and loved each other.
A ball of energy was sent down to the planet... and the final moments of the Saiyan royals were in each other's arms.
Many... many years later.
An older Vegeta awakens in the depths of hell... he'd been fighting Frieza, and Kakarot... he arrived and... had he died?
He walks around, knowing this was hell and accepting his fate as a dead man. He sat down, and waited... until he heard a voice coming from behind him.
"Hello... my little prince."
