"Marshall!" Asher called. "Marshall, where are you?!" Asher's calls echoed through the halls of the dark monastery as he continued calling his brother.

"I'm in here!" Marshall called back. Asher rounded the corner and saw Marshall sitting in his bedroom with their father: Kaleb.

"Big storm, huh," Asher remarked as he sat down beside his brother.

"The biggest since before I was born," Kaleb replied.

"Father. You're an extremely powerful samurai with complete control of the weather. Can't you stop the storm, or at least send it in another direction?" Marshall asked worriedly.

"You know very well that I can only control the storms I create, not the ones Mother Nature creates," Kaleb told him calmly. "Let's change the subject, shall we? Marshall, how's your training coming? The Wind is a powerful force, I hope you've learned to control it."

"Yes, Father," Marshall began. "I've meditated and trained for a month. Now, I can not only create tornados, but I can also control their size, speed, and power."

"Good!" Kaleb said as he turned to his younger son. "What about you, Asher? Lightning is just as powerful and difficult to control as Wind, if not more! How are you doing?"

"Well," Asher began sheepishly. "I haven't been training that much. My Lightning power is strong enough as it is."

"What about your control?" Kaleb asked.

"I mean… it's okay…" Asher replied, looking down at his feet.

"Okay is not good enough, Asher," Kaleb said, sounding as disappointed as he looked. "Never mind the training. Marshall, blow out the lanterns. We shall meditate while the storm passes." Marshall closed his eyes and waved a hand. A cool breeze passed through the room as the light from the lanterns disappeared. Kaleb, Marshall, and Asher pulled their legs into a meditative position, and pretty soon the only sound that filled the room was the ticking of the clock that marked the hours passing until the storm calmed.

At two-o-clock in the morning, the sound of ringing bells woke the trio with a start.

"Master Kaleb! Come quick!" The temple guard: Tiana-Vera, called. "The village is being attacked!" Kaleb rushed outside with Marshall and Asher at his heels.

"Kaleb!" Tiana-Vera hailed the samurai as he reached the temple doors.

"I want a full report," Kaleb ordered as he reached the guard.

"It's the Mind Stealers," Tiana-Vera replied. Kaleb nodded solemnly as he turned to his sons.

"Marshall, Asher, I want you to go into the monastery with Tiana-Vera. I'll handle the Mind Stealers."

"But, Father, we can help…" Asher protested.

"No!" Kaleb cut him off sternly. "I can handle it."

"Yes, Father," Asher responded as he and Marshall ran back into the monastery. Kaleb snapped his fingers as a boom of thunder seemed to summon the army of Mind Stealers to Kaleb's position.

"Easy prey," one of them scoffed. Thunder boomed as lightning split the sky and raindrops poured down. Kaleb smiled as he drew his katanas that sparked and crackled with electrical energy.

"That's what you think," he retorted calmly.

Meanwhile…

"Do you think Father will catch us?" Marshall asked anxiously.

"I hope not," Asher replied. "Going to Madame Hypnotia might be the dumbest thing we could do."

"But if we can mediate this conflict, it could be the smartest thing we could do," Marshall countered.

"That's a good point," Asher said, then his voice dropped to a whisper. "We have to be quiet now, I think we're here." And sure enough, the brothers looked up to see an enormous temple with vines covering most of the gray structure with red embellishments. A huge door with large iron handles was almost intimidating as the brothers sucked in a deep breath and stepped toward the menacing temple. Asher reached out to grab the doorknob but before he could enter the temple, twenty guards jumped out from the bushes and aimed their weapons at the brothers.

"Those are Neuron Blasters!" Marshall gasped. "They use sonic waves that paralyze your neurons within seconds."

"And you're our test subjects," one of the guards sneered. With that, the guards fired their blasters as a glazed look came over the brothers' eyes. The guards carried the brothers inside the temple, to their queen.
