Ch 4
Vers was at an Airforce base with her friend Maria Rambeau.
General Talos: Where are we?
Maria: Where's your head at?
Vers: In the clouds. Where's yours?
Maria: On my shoulders. About to show these boys how to do it. You ready?
Vers: Higher, further, faster baby.
Maria: That's right.
Then Vers and Monica's planes were taking off.
General Talos : Go back even further.
Then 11 year old Vers was driving a Go-Kart.
Boy: You're going too fast. You need to go slow.
Vers sped up but crashes into the hay outlining the track. As the car tumbles, Vers saw flashes of orange and blue light similar to that of her energy blasts.
General Talos: Who is this person? Are we in the right...?
Joseph Danvers: What the hell are you thinking? You don't belong out here!
Skrull Scientist: I think we went back too far.
Vers: You let him drive.
Skrull Scientist: Let me try something.
Vers was hanging onto a rope to complete a ropes course in Air-Force training.
Cadets: You don't belong out here! You're not strong enough! You'll kill yourself!
Vers swung back on the rope, before jumping off and trying to grab the rope in front of her. She grabbed it and lost grip and fell to the ground. When she hit the ground, there was an image of her thrown backward because of blue and orange flames, before the image returned to her hitting the ground on the course. The cadets laughed behind her.
Drill Instructor: They'll never let you fly.
General Talos: Am I the only one who's confused here?
Vers was sitting at a table with Maria and another pilot standing next to her
Pilot: You're a decent pilot, but you're too emotional. You do know why they call it a cockpit, don't you?
The memory screen then showed Vers' brother and Vers at six lying in the grass
Vers' Brother: Huge rumble throughout the cosmos shook the moon and the sun and the stars in the sky. And so, little Alouette flew up throughout the night.
Vers: Did you see her? (referring to a shooting star which just passed by) It's Alouette.
General Talos: Charming memory.
Skrull Scientist: Hang on. I think I got it.
Then the screen showed Vers with Dr. Lawson.
Wendy Lawson: Goose likes you. She doesn't typically take to people.
Vers: Early start to your morning.
Wendy Lawson: Ah. Late night actually, I can't sleep when there's work to do. Sound familiar?
Vers: Flying airplanes never feels like work.
Wendy Lawson: Wonderful view isn't it?
Vers: I prefer the view from up there.
Wendy Lawson: You'll get there soon enough Ace.
General Talos: Wait, wait, wait. That's her. Get her back.
Skrull Scientist: Stand by.
Wendy Lawson: Sound familiar?
Wendy Lawson: Wonderful view isn't it?
Vers: I prefer the view from up there.
Wendy Lawson: You'll get there soon enough...
General Talos: What's that on her shirt? I couldn't read it.
Wendy Lawson: Sound familiar?
General Talos: Focus.
Then the screen went down to the nametag on Wendy Lawson's shirt]
General Talos: Focus. Pegasus, Dr. Wendy Lawson. That's her. Do we have the location?
Skrull Tech: Got it.
General Talos: Now track Lawson until we find the energy signature.
The screen changed back to Vers' dream, where Lawson was holding a gun towards an unknown person
General Talos: Interesting.
Then Vers and Lawson were in a dogfight with a Kree fighter.
Carol: That's no MIG, Lawson.
General Talos: This is it. Now, let me see where you're headed. That's right, look at the coordinates. Focus!
Vers ejected herself from the plane and the screen shut off. The real Vers was upside down with a memory screen next to her. Then she used her photon powers to get out and it knocked down the Skrulls with a photon shockwave.
"What did you put in my head?" Vers asked.
"Nothing that wasn't already in there." Talos said. "We're looking for Dr. Lawson and her LightSpeed engine.
"I don't know any Dr. Lawson."
"Really? Then why was she in your head?"
Then Vers ran off but Skrulls blocked her. She managed to free herself from the restraints by blasting energy from her hands until they break. However, this caused the glass of the ship to crack and Vers to be pulled outside. She used the energy in her hands to fly inside towards the room where she was held captive. Vers went to an escape pod but Talos blasted it.
"Leaving so soon?" Talos asked. "We're just getting to know each other."
Vers blasted a wave of energy towards Talos' head, which he ducked. Vers flew back to Earth but the pod broke up and Vers was thrown into the roof of a Blockbuster store.
