Ch 7

Vers went to Rambeau's house and learned that the Skrulls were the victims of the war and the Kree were the ones attacking them. The Skrulls needed the core of the Light-Speed Engine to find a new home. Vers was also the test pilot of the engine and her real name was Carol Danvers. She and the others went to Mar-Vell's lab but the Starforce team captured them and Vers was sent to the Supreme Intelligence.

"You did good, ace." the Supreme Intelligence said. "Thanks to you, those insidious shapeshifters will threaten our borders no more."

"I used to believe your lies. But the Skrulls are just fighting for a home. You're talking about destroying them because they won't submit to your rule. And neither will I." Vers replied.

"We found you. We embraced you as our own."

"You stole me. From my home, my family, my friends."

Carol ran forward and jumped to punch the Supreme Intelligence but she threw her into a wall.

"It's cute how hard you try. Remember... without us...you're weak."

Then Carol saw her past failiures.

"You're flawed. Helpless. We saved you. Without us... you're only human."

"You're right. I'm only human."

"On Hala, you were reborn. Vers."

"My name... is Carol."

Carol lit up her fist, but Lawson blasted energy towards her first. Lawson's energy hit Carol, but Carol continued towards Lawson. On the spaceship, Carol's hands began to light up and began burning the machine.

"She's trying to break out." Korath said.

Carol continued to release energy waves from her hands. This caused all electricity on the ship to malfunction.

"I've been fighting with one arm tied behind my back. But what happens when I'm finally set free?"

Carol took off the chip and dropped it. The chip exploded off her neck like a bullet and she was released from the Supreme Intelligence, glowing and floating in the air. She suddenly blasted energy from her hands, and sent four Kree flying backward in to the wall behind them. She grabbed the lunchbox with the Tesseract and returned with Maria and Fury.

"You know you're glowing, right?" Fury asked.

"I'll explain it later. Take the Tesseract, leave the lunchbox."

"Me?"

"Yes."

"I'm not touching that thing."

"Want me to get you an oven mitt?"

Then Goose used her tongue to swallow the Tesseract and Fury was completely shocked.

"Get the Skrulls in the QuadJet and go. Take the Flerken with you."

"What about you?" Maria asked.

"I'll buy you some time."

"I'm picking you up now. " Fury said as he picked up Goose. "I'm trusting you not to eat me."
