A/N: Hey guys! I hope you all are doing well. Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it. Yes, I'm starting something new. I will finish all of my works in progress, but it is taking a bit of time. If any of you have read my one-shot series, 'Partners Until The End,' this will be really similar. This is going to be a series of one-shots focusing on Chris and Street, and each one will tie in to an episode of SWAT. I'm going to work my way through the whole series (yeah, I'm sure I got a laugh from some of you seeing as how I'm not the best with sticking to stories) and this will go in order of the episodes. I hope you like it, and if you have any ideas, please let me know! Thank you!

Title: Long Beach
Episode: 1x01 'Pilot'
It had been a hell of a first two days… well, scratch that, a hell of a first two with major overtime. Jim Street was officially LAPD SWAT, and he already knew he was in for an interesting ride.
20-Squad didn't seem so bad, but they were currently going through a rough patch. He heard about Buck, and hated what was happening, but from what he understood, there was nothing more that could be done.
Hondo seemed pretty cool, but Street was sure he hadn't made the best first impression with the newly appointed sergeant… or any of the others for that matter. They all had his respect though, even if it didn't go both ways at the moment thanks to some of his actions taken during the first case.
Okay, so maybe he had a tendency to push the limits, but he was quickly informed that wouldn't cut it within SWAT. All of the officers had made that very clear. He was excited to see where things would go with them though, and he hoped he would soon find himself fitting in with his newfound squad.
After one of their shifts, before an impromptu situation that ended in another call out, Street had gotten to hang out with them outside of work. They had been gathered at an overlook of the city, and he was able to see a glimpse of them as they weren't dealing with the formalities of HQ.
Street had to admit he'd gotten his ass handed to him by Luca, after he thought he could arm wrestle him for some easy money… and then there was Alonso.
'Better luck next time, Long Beach.' She had appeared amused, but Street couldn't help but notice the look she gave him. It seemed softer than the day before.
She had immediately caught his attention when he first arrived at HQ. Obviously she was hot, but he could already tell how much of a badass she was too. It didn't take him long to start flirting either, but she shot him down pretty quickly when they were at that rally.
"Maybe, uh, off duty, you could teach me a few tricks."
"I like dogs, not dawgs."
He could still see that sassy look she gave, and despite his bruised ego, the comment had made him smile. He hadn't had time to push the matter in that moment, but he could've sworn at the overlook, their gaze had been drawn to each other's before being interrupted by Hondo's departure.
Maybe he was imagining that, but either way, he was definitely intrigued by the raven-haired officer. Right before leaving to come home, he did get to talk to her again. It had been brief, but her words were more serious than their earlier banter.
20-Squad had officially completed their unexpected overtime, and Street had just spoken to Hondo and Cortez about what had transpired. All in all, Street felt that it was an accomplished few shifts, but he was ready to go home.
With that in mind, he entered the locker room to change into his civvies. He was surprised to see Alonso still there, as everyone else had left a little while ago… but judging by the back pack she had just slung over her shoulder, she was close to following suit.
She looked up at the sound of the door closing behind Street. "So, you gonna be coming back?"
"What, did you think I would burn out the second day?" He gave a mock-wounded look before grinning. "Or are you just asking because you're hoping to see more of me?"
Alonso rolled her eyes. "No, I just wasn't sure if Hondo had enough of your rogue attitude."
Okay, harsh but true. "Nope, I guess you're stuck with me for longer."
"Hmm." She shut her locker and started for the door, but changed her mind before she could grasp the handle. "Reign it in a bit next shift, okay? We don't need you being such a hot-head."
Street started to make a smart remark, but the fire in her eyes suggested maybe that wasn't such a good idea. He didn't know how to tell her that he was used to doing things on his own, that trusting others didn't come easy for him… but by the time he opened his mouth to say anything, she was already leaving.
Looking back over the past forty-eight hours, Street knew that Alonso, or Chris as everyone else seemed to call her, was probably right. He didn't want to screw up this chance, a chance given only to him because of Buck… but he was pretty set in his ways. He knew what worked for him, and it was hard listening to others.
Oh well, he would put in the effort and hope that increased his chances of staying on 20-Squad. If not, it wouldn't be anything new. He was used to being transferred… used to people turning their backs on him.
