[Shifting microphone]

DG: Is this thing working…? Hello? Test, test-

[Tapping of the microphone]

DG: Ah! There we go! (Unintelligible exclaims)

[Clearing throat]

DG: Alrighty! This is researcher Dr. Gilles part of Group 264 recording audit log number 26 of our data findings within the New World we have entered into. We have been residing in this special region for the past weeks and the number of discoveries we have already made is incredible. With some able to be explained through natural scientific means and others... a bit more alienated from our world counterparts. Studies have been making steady progress along with our understanding of this world as well, so I would say soon enough our overwatch will be blanketed over the entirety of this region.

[Paper pages being flipped]

DG: Such a discovery out of the bunch are these violet crystals that emanate from hostile creatures that inhabit this New World upon death. These antagonistic monsters are everywhere within this region and prove obviously to be a significant threat. But with the PCF at our disposal, we're able to eliminate these creatures with the weaponry we have, but not with ease. These creatures come in a high multitude of dangers, coming in with different physiology. Due to this, some of the hostilities that the PCF encounters upon their excursions may result in a wide range of casualties. Not only that, it is unclear what may be a danger and what may not, especially coming in contact with unknown creatures.

DG: Anyhow, enough talking about PCF excursion experiences, back to the data! Now, regarding the creatures, mentioned before, their anatomy is also rather interesting. Though I am not entirely sure if they have anatomy at all rather, we never ran an autopsy on a creature nor a diagnosis. Reports that came from surviving PCF recon patrols state that the hostile monsters can bleed, however. Remembering it vividly, I was excited after first hearing about this. I want to see if we can capture a creature if possible. Unfortunately, the PCF recon patrols did not bring a blood sample back. I don't blame them however, they were never tasked with doing such as thing. But today, it's gonna be different. And... I just realized I was speaking off-topic in this entry, I so solely apologize.

DG: Back on topic, due to not being able to run an autopsy, it is unclear whether or not they have an organ system if they can bleed. But if they can bleed, then the chances are highly likely. When a monster is eliminated through small arms fire, it disintegrates into a speck of dark dust that disappears and rarely sometimes leaves behind a violet crystal that I previously mentioned. Now this outcome, of monsters, just turning into specks of dust after death and rarely dropping a crystal, is what makes us unsure if they have anatomy or not. Now I do have one here, let me just...

[Items' rummaging and shuffling]

[Disposable gloves being placed on]

DG: Ah! There we go. So currently, though there is no video right now, I have a crystal in my hands right now. Now, what we have learned is that the specimen does not induce any physical harm upon skin contact. However, for safety reasons and procedures, I am putting on gloves so I don't befoul with the specimen as it is considered to be rare due to them having a low probability of dropping upon eliminating the creatures. The crystal has some type of element within that makes me think of it like a plasma lamp. In the crystal, there is a kind of plasma moving inside, however, slower moving than plasma. It is unclear why these monsters have a dropping probability of these crystals upon death but currently, it is under careful study and research to understand the properties of these crystals.

[The crystal being dropped into a box and a chair squeaking along with a thump of a stack of paper hitting the desk]

DG: To another topic, when we were in the middle of an exploration, we found ruins of a supposedly ancient kingdom assumed by its structures. Covered in moss and growing vegetation but, under the mass amount of lush green, there contains scriptures and evidence of a once possibly thriving civilization. The ruins are currently being researched and further dug up by the archeologist division. The archeologist division decoded the cryptic messages and it seemed to speak of different mythologies of our counterpart world, most notably Greek mythology.

[Paper pages being shuffled within the pile]

DG: Uh... within the data that is printed in here, the scriptures also seemed to talk about some hero named "Argonaut" which appeared to correlate with a band of heroes within Greek mythology that possesses the same alias. Not much is yet gathered about this hero but, what this tells us is many things. One of them is that there exist civilizations that have made this scripture. Another is that there is possibly a series of elements from Greek mythology that exist within this region. This can be somewhat further supported by a creature that had been encountered by a PCF recon patrol. This creature can be described as a hybrid between a bird and a human woman, and this description is similar to a monster in Greek mythology known as a "siren". It is possible that the other creatures that the PCF encounters are also correlating to Greek mythology in a way.

[Stack of paper being lightly tidied on the table]

DG: And this also begs the question... are there gods that reside within this world?

[Thud caused by the stack of paper dropped onto the table]

DG: Because if this world consists of Greek mythological beings, there should also be Greek gods... right? If creatures like the siren possibly exists, then there should also possibly be minotaurs as well. Harpies? Lamias? Unless the Greek gods reside in Olympus if such a place does exist here. These... are fascinating questions. Oh, how the possibilities of research, study, and discoveries range. Especially the mythological creatures, if creatures did come from Greek mythology, how does their physiology make them capable of combat? How does their anatomy differ from ours? Oh my, oh my, the possibilities are endless! From discoveries of small plants that have unusual factors and properties to researching more on Greek gods, I hope Olympus is real-

[Slight pause interrupted by the sound of Gilles clearing his throat]

DG: I do solely apologize about that, I am quite ecstatic about these discoveries. This simple discovery of the ancient ruins of a civilization North of us managed to unlock so many possibilities in this world. Speaking of civilizations, a few drone captures sent up managed to capture footage of different cities and settlements that we weren't aware of. However, it seems that high commandants have informed us to stay evaded from these settlements as directed by him. The motive behind staying hidden from anyone that originates from this region is so that we cannot be discovered at all and keep our presence highly classified. Anywho, back to the settlements and such, there is one particular city that has been a main concern and is in question. That is a city that possesses a large tower that seemed to reach more than 7000 ft tall. This also begs another question, what are the people in this world like to be able to construct a tower that big? This is estimated to be four times the height of the Burj Khalifa. If a civilization can construct a skyscraper that big... how much of a threat do they pose?

[Slight pause]

DG: The city has been marked on a map, along with the other cities and settlements that the recon patrols and drones have discovered. It is fascinating to find this many discoveries as well as questions appearing. Perhaps, this may be enough information able to satisfy his intentions. Well, who am I kidding? Of course not. There are many other discoveries, research, and observations to be made within this world. Many more to come, it is inevitable.

[Papers shuffling with pauses between]

DG: Well, I think I had said all the data that I needed to say for this report. I mentioned the hostile monsters, cities, settlements, excavation of ruins, uh... the crystals right, right... oh, I never talked about the forest have I? My, how could I forget!

[Singular paper being flicked]

DG: According to this report and data analysis, PCF special reconnaissance has ventured further into nonvisited lands under the guise of two of the Septenaries and discovered a forest just West of the ruins across a river. And what is interesting about this forest, is both the biology and geology difference of this forest compared to others within our world. With the geology, it seems that the plant community is highly different by just looking alone. It appears that the trees are nothing but just one organism, connected by an interconnecting system of web roots underground. All this stem from the center of the forest. This tree appears as the largest of the bunch in width and follows the same log pattern as the rest. Now, another thing I want to dive into is the biology of this forest. An organism I want to touch on is another mythology which is Elves. It appears that Northern Germanic mythology also coexists within the world as well which dispels the idea that only Greek mythology could only be found. And this raises more questions such as, what other mythologies exist here as well?

[The paper is wrinkled down onto the table]

DG: Oh how the possibilities continue to increase, this makes more opportunities for discovery for us, Group 264 to dive into research. However, with our policy of staying isolated from beings in this world, unfortunately, the special reconnaissance teams had to retreat to a nearby FOB to resupply due to long-range patrol rations being low. This is unfortunate due to not enough information being transmitted! There had to be more, I know it. This is why today-!

[Tent curtains shuffling]

UNK: (Deep static voice) Dr. Gilles, please report to the debriefing area for your requested objective. Your escort patrol is waiting for you.

DG: Ah! Right, I will be there in a moment.

[Tent curtains reshuffling]

DG: As I was saying, there has to be more to discover. And today, I am on a trip to do that specifically. Because information is key to our endeavor, and I will not disappoint him, this expedition nor my unquenchable thirst for knowledge about these fascinating unknown lands. With all that being said, this is Dr. Gilles, signing off on audit log number 26. Terra Invicta.
