A/N: Never been good at starting fics so here's this bit for now
Bingo loved making new friends. It was so much fun getting to meet someone for the first time and getting to know them, having someone new to play with! So far her new friend Lila (they were friends now Bingo had decided) was an excellent person to play with and heaps of fun. It was Lila's first day at Kindy though so she was a little shy as they were getting to know each other but Bingo didn't mind, she could remember being scared on her first day of Kindy too. Bingo had decided that she'd be Lila's Bluey until she got used to being at Kindy and didn't feel shy anymore.
What did Bingo mean by saying she'd be Lila's Bluey exactly you may ask? Well it was simple, being a Bluey meant that you were there to lead the way for the person, show them how things are done and make them feel 'comfort-table' and safe; just the way Bluey did for her!
Bingo didn't have much experience being a Bluey mind you, she was much more accustomed to being a Bingo—but if she wasn't Lila's Bluey in this new place, then who would be?
So far Bingo felt she was doing a very good job. She'd shown Lila things like the best spot on the rug to sit on during story time, introduced her to Bob Bilby and helped her find the right color crayons she wanted for her picture. It felt very good being Lila's Bluey, because Bingo got to see Lila 'come out of her shell' like mum says. That meant that Bingo was being a good enough friend that she felt comfort-table enough to be herself, and not just her shy-scared self like she was when she'd first gotten to Kindy.
It felt good being a good friend to Lila. And it felt extra good because Lila was so nice! She would've regretted being Lila's Bluey if her not-shy-scared self turned out to be a complete jerk or something. But there was nothing to worry about, because Lila was a good friend and not a jerk. Bingo was so happy they were friends now, they'd spent the whole day together and Bingo had had a great time. She hoped Lila had a good day too…
"Did you have a good day today?" If you didn't know something it was always better to ask, like mum says.
Lila was in the middle of taking her hops during a game of hopscotch. Her arms windmilled as she kept her balance while talking. "Hmhm!" She nodded, beaming. "Kindy was really fun. Thanks for playing with me today."
Bingo beamed right back, tail wagging. As Lila lost her balance and fell the two giggled. She took her turn, arms slightly out as extra balance the way her big sisters had shown her. They were out front in the walkway to Kindy (under the watchful eye of Mrs. Retriever of course) waiting to be picked up. It was just the two of them left. You'd think after spending all day together they'd run out of things to ask each other but, you'd be wrong.
"My dad's late," Bingo remarked. "He's not late all the time, but he's late more times than mum is. Is your mum usually late to stuff?"
Lila shook her head. "Nuh-uh. Mummy likes to be on time for stuff, but my little brother throws a fit whenever he has to go in his car seat so I think that's why she's not here yet."
Having a little brother sounded interesting!—well, maybe not interesting when he's throwing tantrums—but Bingo often wondered what it would be like to be a big sister instead of a little sister. So she asked Lila about her little brother; what his name was, how old he was, what games they liked to play together, if she had any other siblings. Bingo listened politely the whole time, like a good friend!
"Have you got any brothers?" Lila asked next.
"No," Bingo chirped. "But I've got sisters!" Bluey and Bo—Bo and Bluey. The fact that she's Bingo means they're all B's, which means they go together! "They're twins."
Lila grinned. "That's neat!"
Bingo nodded back eagerly. It was neat! Very neat. Bluey and Bo were the only twins she'd ever met. "They're not 'iden-tickle'—but they're still twins though!" She added quickly. On Get To Know You day, when Bingo had told her class about her sister who were twins, Jasper G had said they couldn't be real twins cuz they didn't look exactly alike. Bingo had, of course, told him that he was wrong. Jasper G said he wasn't and that everyone knew twins were supposed to look the same. Then Bingo had said that she knew more about the subject than him, considering. Then Jasper G said—
Well the point was Bingo wanted to be sure there weren't any misunderstandings with Lila the way there were with Jasper G that day, so she was quick to explain.
"What's 'iden-tickle' mean?" Lila asked quizzically.
"Idnen-tickle is when two things are exactly alike." Bingo explained helpfully. Most other kids her age didn't know what word either. The fact that she did made Bingo feel smart. "Most twins look exactly alike but Bluey and Bo don't so they're not identical. They almost are though," she added. "Just that where Bluey's got dark blue in her fur, Bo's got more of a black color, like our dad."
Bluey and Bo were also different on the inside as well as the outside, but Bingo didn't mention this to Lila. It wouldn't have made sense, Lila had never met either Bluey or Bo before after all.
Hmm… it would be very nice if she and Lila could have a playdate though. It would be fun to have her new friend over to her house. She'd have to ask mum…
"Lila!"
"Mummy!" Lila's mother had arrived, quickly coming over to where the two were and greeting her daughter with a hug. After apologizing for arriving late—Lila had been right in assuming her brother was the cause—Lila turned and said to her mother, "Mum this is my friend, Bingo!"
"Hello Lila's-Mum!" she greeted happily.
Lila's Mum smiled and laughed slightly before saying hello back and that it was lovely to meet her.
Bingo liked Lila's mum, she decided, she seemed like a nice lady. As Lila Mum walked away to have a quick chat with Mrs. Retriever though, Bingo was also a little… disappointed that the woman was here now. That meant she and Lila would have to say good-bye….
Oh well! They'd just see each other again tomorrow and have just as much fun then as they did today.
But just as Bingo began smiling to herself at the thought, she realized that Lila was now looking….uncertain, sort of shy, like she was when the day first started. Bingo didn't understand why. "You okay Lila?"
Lila fidgeted with her hands nervously, switching between looking at Bingo then down at the ground. "Do you…do you uh…" she began hesitantly.
If Bingo were being a Bluey she might've tried to help by finishing Lila's sentence for her. But just now she knew better than to do that, she was a very smart girl after all. Though being a Bluey had served her well, just now it'd be better to be a Bo.
What did being a Bo mean? Well Bingo had been doing it all day—in between being a Bluey that is.
Being a Bo meant being patient when people had trouble finding their words, it meant being especially kind to people when they're sad or scared and not too pushy. Gentle; not too loud or rough.
It meant that, as Lila worked up the courage to say what she wanted to say next, Bingo merely looked on kindly and said "take your time." This made Lila feel better—or at least Bingo thought so anyway, because she smiled at her. Bingo smiled right back.
"Do uhm—do you think we can play again together tomorrow? Do you think you'd want to?"
Bingo answered honestly and cheered, "I'd love to!"
Today was a good day! Such a good day that Bingo would tell the story of how she made a new friend three times; once to her dad when he picked her up, once to her sisters when they were picked up and again to her mother later that day.
She couldn't wait for tomorrow!—and the day after, and the day after that and the day after that!

(What does being a Bingo mean you ask? Why it's simple, being a Bingo is the best of both worlds!)
