TW homophobic language + boys kissing

Two days had passed since leaving for the mountains. Billy and his dad had gone hiking and fishing and had been pretty much uninterrupted since they arrived, an occurrence that had never happened to the two Cranston men since Billy's mom died. She would have loved that her boys were getting to spend this time together, and that's the thought that has kept Billy together so far.

He misses his technology. He feels so out of his comfort zone out in the wilderness, and his dad constantly wants to talk to him about feelings and other personal things that he's never bothered to know before now. Billy wants to enjoy this time, and he's trying to, he's just never been an emotions and feelings kind of kid, especially with his typically distant father.

It was Monday evening and the two men were sitting around a campfire outside of their cabin, roasting marshmallows. Billy had a small stack of books set next to his chair, intent on reading before the sun set. His father had been quiet since this afternoon.

"So, Billy, I was wondering if we could have a father-son, man to man kind of chat…" Lawrence broke the silence. Billy grimaced.

"We've had the sex talk, Dad, if that's where this is going." He said quickly, hoping to deter any conversation of that sort. The two had had that talk when Billy was old enough to ask where babies came from, which was quite a young age. His father had tried again when he hit puberty, but Billy always did everything in his power to avoid that talk. He had read his science books; he knew the facts.

Lawrence gave a short laugh at his son's response. "It's not that, kiddo, I was just wondering if there were any girls out there that have caught your eye?"

Billy blushed deeply. For some reason, that was not where he thought his father was going. How does he get out of this without coming out and ruining this whole spring break?

"What? No!" Billy exclaimed, focusing on his marshmallow and not on his father. "Dad, I have a lot of more important stuff going on then – then looking for a partner. I have to focus on my grades! Academics is far too important at my age. Besides, I wouldn't have time for anyone else outside of the time I spend with my friends because they already have to drag me away from my studies and –"

"Woah, woah, hold on, son." Lawrence interrupted Billy's rambling. The man seemed to not notice Billy's use of the word "partner" instead of "girlfriend." "I'm not trying to pressure you any, Billy. I was just wondering. You've not talked to me about any of your friends since you met Kimberly. And don't you worry, I know she's dating that Tommy fellow." He assured his son at the sight of panic that crossed his face.

Lawrence knew Billy was close with his friends, and he knew they talked about dating just like normal teenagers do. He had met all of Billy's friends at one time or another, and they often hung out in his home or out in his garage. "What about that Trini girl? She's awfully pretty."

"No! Dad, come on! I just told you that I am not interested in dating anyone!" Billy was flustered, face bright red, which he hoped his dad would not notice in the firelight. Lawrence definitely noticed as his smile grew. Fine, Billy thought, if his dad thought he liked Trini, then so be it. That's better than him knowing the truth.

Lawrence shook his head. This was typically behavior for a 15-year-old boy. He wouldn't push Billy anymore, even though he really wished his son would confide in him. He watched Billy shrink into his chair and eat his marshmallow to keep himself from talking.

He decided he should leave the brooding boy to his thoughts for a bit. Standing up and stretching, he said, "I think I'm gonna go on a walk along one of the shorter trails before the sun sets. If you decide to go on a walk, be careful. Try to come back by sunset."

Billy mumbled an agreement and picked his book up. Moments pass and nothing could be heard but the crackle of the fire and the nature around him. It would have been peaceful, if it wasn't for the fact that Billy was used to the sound of people chattering, machines buzzing, and general chaos ensuing around him. The quiet was overwhelming in a way. It reminded him too much of the first few months of moving to Angel Grove after his mother passed. It was far too quiet, much quieter than busy Chicago. And his dad was rarely home to create a comfortable amount of noise for the young boy.

The sound of footsteps behind him pulled Billy from his thoughts, his ranger instincts on high alert. He chose not to move, listening closely instead of attracting attention. The footsteps were lighter than his fathers', plus his father would have said something as he approached to avoid spooking his son. These steps approached rapidly, but distinctly not as if someone were running at him.

Finally, a strong, familiar voice broke the silence, immediately causing Billy to turn in a panic, "Hello, Billy."

"Jason?" Billy asked, face scrunched up in confusion. "What are you doing here? Is something wrong back at home?"

Jason stepped toward the genius, casually, a smile gracing his handsome features. "I felt like I needed to see you." He walked close enough to touch Billy, making the blue ranger a bit uneasy. Why was he uneasy? This was Jason, his closest friend and leader. He just happened to look really good in the firelight. And standing really close to Billy.

"Is something wrong? Are you okay?" Billy managed to sputter out, trying to appear more relaxed than he felt.

"No," Jason said softly, staring intently at Billy. "I figured out what was wrong the other night. Why Bulk's words upset you."

Billy stilled, his fear taking over. Jason was going to hate him. He was going to kick him off the team for being a faggot. He stepped back away from Jason unconsciously, and he put his hands up in front of himself. Jason was probably disgusted with him, after all the times they spent together alone, after all of them being in the locker rooms together or out at the beach together. He's going to think Billy is a pervert. Before he could run or even think of defending himself, Jason had Billy in his arms. A hug. It was a hug?

"Billy, I could never judge you for wanting to be with a man." Jason said softly, his face buried in Billy's blond hair. "I could never hate you for something so natural."

Billy slowly relaxed into the embrace, hugging Jason back. The older boy's words hit him hard and he could feel tears in his eyes. "Jase…" He managed to say, but couldn't say more.

Jason tightened his grip before whispering, "I love you, Billy. I've always loved you." He leaned back and stared into tearful blue eyes. Before Billy could react, their lips locked, Jason keeping the smaller boy close to him.

A shock seemed to run through Billy's body at the contact. He had kissed before, but only Kimberly and Trini once each, and for completely platonic reasons. This felt like nothing he could describe. Jason was truly good at everything. The genius melted into the bigger boy, kissing back gently.

Jason intensified the kiss briefly before separating, a strange look in his eyes. Billy stared at him, a mixture of surprise and longing reflected in his own eyes.

"Jason, I – I don't know what to say." Billy stuttered out, truly at a loss.

"Finally got you speechless, have I?" He replied with a smirk, "I like it." He leaned down and gave Billy another short, passionate kiss, causing the genius to squeak a gasp in response. He then looked into Billy's eyes and said to him seriously, in his leader voice, "Don't say anything about my being here. I don't want to interrupt your time with your father. I will be around, though. I'll come see you again soon."

With that, the red ranger started to pull away. Billy, acting before thinking, quickly grabbed at him. "Wait!" He called, "This is real?" He asked, desperation seeping into his voice.

Jason bit his lip and nodded, a look that could almost be described as lust crossing over his face. A strange look for Jason Scott. "Yes, Billy, this is very real. I will contact you soon."

The blond motioned toward his communicator and Jason quickly covered it with his own hands. "No! I don't want to risk anyone else realizing I'm here. I will come and find you. Do not use your communicator."

Billy nodded a response, confusion once against gracing his features. Quickly, Jason gave him another kiss upon his lips, a shock sparking through the impact, and then looked into his eyes and said slowly, "I will see you soon." And before anymore could be said, Jason was gone and another set of footsteps could be heard approaching the campsite.

"Man, I could use another 'mallow! Billy, you okay?" Lawrence called out as he noisily made his way back to the chairs to make another smore, but noticed his son standing just beyond his chair, staring out into the trees.

Billy turned back toward his father, shaking himself of his trance. "Yes, father. I just had to relieve myself. I, uh, I think I need another marshmallow as well."

As he stared into the fire, Billy couldn't help but think about his strange interaction with Jason. It felt like a dream, but he knew it was real. He wondered how he got out here and if the others were curious as to where he was. Jason had asked him not to use his communicator, though. Surely he had his reasons, right?

Maybe this vacation will end up going well after all. /span/p
