Saiyans of Jura
The scenery was quiet and peaceful, the lake was flowing gently down stream with two shadows passing over it, and a pack of Direwolves tailing them closely from behind.
"Hold up, let's stop and get some rest." Mina said as she and her boyfriend, slowly lowered themselves to the ground. "Kaen and I don't need it, but your Direwolves look like they do."
"Right Lady Mina." Rigur said.
"We've been traveling North for about half a day now, and still no signs of Eri." Kaen said. "I'm starting to worry about her, even more now."
"Eri will be fine Kaen." Mina smiled. "She's strong, just like her Papa."
"An' smart just like her Mama." Kaen said.
"Hey you two." Rimuru said, hopping over to them. "I've been meaning to ask. If you're both first years in high school, how do you already have a daughter?"
Mina and Kaen looked to one another, before the taller Saiyan looked to the Direwolves and their riders, then returned his gaze back to Rimuru.
"It happened earlier in the year." Kaen said. "Eri had bumped into Mina, running from a deranged man who had been chasing her, and wanting to use her Quirk for his, less then humane experiments."
"Kaen had intervened when I refused to give her back, and the man was about to get violent." Mina added.
"His name was Kai Chisaki. I doubt we'll ever see him again, but he's the young head of a Yakuza organization, called the Shie Hassaikai." Kaen stated. "After getting away, and making sure there was nothing wrong with Eri, he managed to find us, and I fought him."
"Kaen won in the end, but Eri considered herself cursed, and a burden, since her mother had abandoned her, all because her Quirk had manifested and accidentally reverted her father to, pre-conception." Mina continued. "Her mother was the first to call Eri cursed, and a monster. An' when she was brought in by the police, she tried to kill Eri, and even unloaded an officers gun on Kaen, when she stole it."
"That had to have been rough for her." Rimuru said.
"It was, but there's nothing to do about it now. The past is the past, no use crying over it." Kaen said. "All we can do, is learn from it and keep moving forward."
"I'm just hoping we'll be able to find Eri, before anything bad happens to her." Mina said. "Who knows the kinds of things, she's being exposed to as we speak."
"Right, let's keep moving." Kaen stated. "Riders, if you're rested enough, then let's keep moving."
"Right." They all said.
~Outskirts of Dwargo~
"Well… I guess this is it." Kaen said as he and Mina landed on the ground in front of the Direwolf riders.
"Alright, everyone wait here. Rimuru, Kaen, Gobta, and myself, are the only ones who will head in." Mina said.
"Are you sure you only wanna take Gobta into the city with you My Lord and Lady?" Rigur asked.
"A bigger group will just draw unwanted attention, so I think it best you all just wait here, while Gobta shows us around." Mina said.
"But my Lady…"
"Relax we'll be fine."
"Please don't go." Ronga said.
"We'll most likely be a few days." Kaen stated. "But we'll be back as soon as we can. You guys just chill out here."
"Hold up, couldn't you just fly us in?" Rimuru inquired. "Like, just fly Gobta and I the rest of the distance to the entrance, or at least the back of the line for entry registration?"
"Well, I don't really see why that can't be possible." Mina said. "Gobta, prepare for some pain on your shoulder and wrist."
"Wait, what?" Gobta questioned, as Mina grabbed his left arm, the supplies held tight in his right hand, before taking to the air.
When they'd managed to get to the back of the line, Mina apologized to Gobta for causing him that kind of pain, while Rimuru made himself smaller to sit on his shoulder, while Gobta stood between the trio.
"Check out this line, security must be strict as hell." Mina said.
"It's gotta be for a place titled, the Armed Nation of Dwargon." Kaen said.
"Yeah, but once we get inside, we're pretty much free to do whatever we want, so long as we don't cause trouble." Gobta explained, as Rimuru jumped to his other shoulder.
"Well what do we have here?" Someone from behind them asked, as he stepped up.
"Looks like a couple of scrawny monsters." Another man said.
Turning around to look at the duo, Kaen and Mina saw that one of them was an obese man with blonde hair, and a scar running down the left side of his face, and a tall lengthy looking man with an X shaped scar in the side of his head, and an actual giant screw, poking out from the other side.
'Is that guy all right?' Kaen and Mina questioned at the same time.
"There ain't any rules about fighting outside the city, so their fair game." The lengthy man said.
'Does he have brain damage from that screw in his head?' Kaen asked.
"Hey lookie here. You look like a girl who knows how to have a good time sweet cheeks. Ditch these losers, and let a couple of real men, show you how to have fun." The fat man said.
"Excuse me, but I'm taken, thank you very much." Mina said, taking Kaen's arm into hers, hugging it to her chest.
"Oh please, this pathetic bag of flesh?" The lengthy man asked. "I bet your muscles aren't even real man, I bet they're just augmented with temporary enhancement magic, and just for show."
"Oh I assure you, nothing about my body, is fake." Kaen said as the lengthy man circled around him.
"Oh really? Then why don't you prove it? I dare you, hit me as hard as you can." The lengthy man smiled. "If you manage to move be back by at least a foot, we'll leave your group alone. But when you lose, your arm candy will be all mine." He said with a perverted grin and smirk.
'Nope, he's just stupid.' Mina thought. "Gobta, do you remember the first rule Kaen and I laid out for you and the village?"
"Yes. I recall rule number one was we should never attack a human." Gobta recited, causing the humans in front of them to back off.
"Correct, so I want you to close your eyes, and cover your ears." Mina exclaimed. "Do not look in Kaen's direction, got it? I'll tap your shoulder when it's all over."
"I understand." Gobta said, before squatting while covering his ears with his eyes closed.
Kaen glared at the man, before quickly twisting around, performing a full 360-spin kick, and sent the man flying, all the way back into the forest, two kilometers away.
"Notice: The Unique Skill, Martial Artist, has been acquired, allowing you complete mastery over any martial arts, you may be familiar with." A woman's voice echoed in Kaen's head.
"What the? Why am I hearing voices inside my head?" Kaen questioned.
"Answer, you are a summons, and thus you are able to hear me, for I am the voice of the world. I am connected to all living creatures, and have a deeper connection to Summons and Reincarnations, who can hear me more clearly. The explosion that enveloped you and your family, acted as cover for the summons that brought you here, but due to some unforeseen intervention committed by two other beings, the summoning went off course and you wound up in a random location." The voice said.
"Huh. I guess that makes sense. I'll have to ask Rimuru about it later, just to make sure I'm not going crazy." Kaen responded.
"You bastard, we're gonna make you pay. Let's get him guys." The shorter blonde man said, as a Mage, a Knight, and a Templar, appeared from out of nowhere.
"Well, if you're unwilling to back off, like your friend suggested…" Kaen began as a milky white aura enveloped him, and his eyes became a menacing red, as he grit his teeth. "Then I guess we'll just have to settle this the old fashioned way."
"Hmm... let's see." Mina said, looking at each of the party members.
"What are you doing Ashido?" Rimuru questioned.
"I'm trying to class them all by DnD class." Mina stated. "If the two who confronted us are dressed and act that way, then I'd say they're Rogue's, barely level ones. Then there's the Mage class." She said pointing to the one in the hooded robes. "The Tank." She pointed to the knight. "An' the Monk." She pointed to the guy in white robes.
"Huh, then what class would Kaen be in?" Rimuru questioned.
"Oh that's easy, he's Paladin Class, no doubt about it." Mina smiled.
Kaen brought one of his hands up, and gave them the, come and get me, motion before flipping them off.
"You asked for it." The blonde Rogue stated. "DIE." He shouted, charging at Kaen.
"Heavy hitting cut." The Tank called out, sending his attack.
"Cast Fireball." The Mage called out, sending the attack at him.
"Magic Wall go." The Monk cast his spell, forming a protective barrier around them.
Kaen just knocked the Rogue away with a closed fist, backhanded strike, and used the air pressure from the swing to knock the Fireball back to the spell caster, before he slammed his foot on the ground, to create a counter shockwave attack, canceling out the Tanks, and used a low level Ki blast to shatter the Magic Wall.
"He deflected all our attacks, and shattered our protective barrier?" The Tank questioned.
"But that's impossible."
"This guy isn't human."
"Nope. I'm not human." Kaen smiled. "I'm a Saiyan." He stated, looking towards them.
"A what?" Rimuru asked.
"Now get lost, before I show you what I can really do!" He exclaimed, causing the milky white aura around him to grow even larger, resembling a burning white flame, creating shockwaves that traveled through the air like great gusts of storm wind.
"Notice: The skill, Primal Menace, has been acquired." The voice in Kaen's head said.
The adventurers all stared at him in horror, before they began to run, leaving the faint scent of ammonia in their wake.
"Phew, glad we're done with that." Kaen said, suppressing his aura.
"Hey." A voice called out to them as Kaen rotated his shoulder. "Stop right there."
"Oh boy. I have a feeling we're gonna be at Dwargon longer than we planned." Mina said.
~Later in the Dungeons~
"Seriously, we're detained by the authorities and he's fast asleep?" Mina questioned, looking to Gobta, who was sawing logs like it was nothing.
Mina was sitting against a barrel Rimuru was in, while Kaen stood in front of the bars to their cell, telling the Dwarven Captain of Security, Kaido. Gobta was tied up, mainly due to the fact he panicked earlier and tried to run, but Mina and Kaen weren't in any sort of restraints since they came along peacefully.
"An' that's about it Kaido sir." Kaen finished off explaining things to the Dwarf holding a clipboard. "I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to cause you any trouble." He expressed while bowing to Kaido.
"Hmm… well your story adds up with the eyewitness reports given. Being two of your party are a slime monster and a goblin…"
"Hobgoblin." Mina corrected.
"Right, hobgoblin, they thought they'd have an easy time and stir up some trouble, probably blame it on them starting it up too if they were to get caught." Kaido said. "So just this once I'll…"
"Kaido sir. We've got trouble." One of the guards called out, running up to them. "There was an Armorsaurus attack in the mine!"
"Call the suppression force."
"They're in route, sir. But Garm and his brothers were in the mine gathering magic ore." The guard explained. "They've been badly injured and are barely hanging on for their lives."
"Do we have potions?" Kaido questioned.
"Not enough. We had to donate most of them to the war effort." The guard said.
"Well we have to do something. Those guys are like brothers to me." Kaido exclaimed.
"Um, excuse me." Mina said, standing at the bars, and holding out a small burlap sack through them, with Rimuru on her shoulder. "These will heal your injured friends. An' if you want Kaen or I could go deal with that beast you're talking about."
"What are these?" Kaido questioned, taking the sack and opening it. "Wait, that slime is supposed to stay in the barrel."
"They're Senzu Beans." Mina explained. "An' if Rimuru had stayed in the barrel, he wouldn't have been able to fill it with that."
Mina pointed to the barrel, and Kaido saw it was filled with a strange liquid.
"What is that?" Kaido questioned.
"Healing potion. You can drink it, or apply it directly to the injury." Rimuru said.
"You just have to eat the Senzu Beans for them to heal your injuries." Kaen said. "But if you eat them while uninjured, they'll keep you fed for the better part of ten days."
Kaido looked to the barrel and the bag of Senzu Beans in his hand, before making a decision as he pocketed the beans, and grabbed the keys to the cell.
"Wait sir, you can't seriously trust that slime's word, or these people's claims." The guard said.
"I don't have a choice." Kaido said, slamming the lid on the barrel to seal it shut. "Can the two of you really kill the Armorsaurus?"
"Only one of us would suffice." Kaen said.
"One of you huh?"
"Ooh, ooh. Pick me. I wanna try fighting with my title as Kaioh." Mina smiled as Rimuru hoped over to Kaen's shoulder.
"Kaioh?" Kaido questioned.
"It's a title for a martial arts master where we're from. She earned it last year." Kaen said. "But don't be fooled, Mina might look weak, but in reality, she's as strong as they come."
"If that's the case, than fine. She can come. But you two better stay put." Kaido said. "Guard, show her to the mines, and where the Armorsaurus attacked."
"Sir." The guard said.
"Yay. This is gonna be fun." Mina cheered following Kaido out of the cell, before he closed it up again.
"Well, now that she's out of here, and Gobta's asleep, so we don't really have to worry about him listening in. I need to ask you something Rimuru." Kaen said, looking to the slime. "Have you ever heard a woman's voice in your head since arriving in this world?"
~One Explanation Later~
"I see, so it's not just me who can hear her." Rimuru said as the moonlight shined through the barred cell's windows, with the duo sitting across from one another, as Gobta was strung upside down from the ceiling in a slime web cocoon, still sleeping. Both Kaen and Rimuru thought it was a good punishment for the sleeping hobgoblin who was supposed to be their guide.
"From what I understand of what she said, unless it's her will, only those who are reincarnated, or summoned to this world, can hear and communicate with her freely."
"Then why hasn't Ashido mentioned hearing Great Sage before?" Rimuru asked. "For that matter, do you think Eri would be able to hear Great Sage if she focused hard enough?"
"I think it's mainly to due with the fact, I was the intended target for the summoning. So when they passed over with me, Mina and Eri didn't gain the ability to freely communicate with Great Sage." Kaen said.
"You're gonna call her that too huh?" Rimuru asked.
"It's better than not calling her anything." Kaen stated.
"Fair enough." Rimuru said. "By the way, you mentioned something earlier. A Saiyan I think you called it?"
"Yeah, I'm a Saiyan." Kaen said. "I'm not from Earth. I'm what you'd call a refugee after my home planet was destroyed."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Rimuru said. "You don't gotta talk about it if you don't want to."
"It's fine. To be honest, my looks and abilities are what allowed for me to fit into Japans society so well, they passed for Quirks pretty easily." Kaen said, before turning to look through the bars. "We've got company."
Rimuru followed his gaze, and saw Kaido coming with three other dwarves behind him.
"Where's Mina?" Kaen questioned getting to his feet.
"She's busy fixing you something to eat." Kaido said. "She managed to defeat the Armorsaurus like she said she would, and wanted to cook it up once she found out its body was comprised of red meat."
"At least she's being productive and not letting any of that meat go to waste." Rimuru said.
"We came by to say, thank you." One of the three dwarves behind Kaido said.
"You saved them. Both the Senzu Beans and the healing potion were more than enough to heal their injuries entirely. We can't thank you enough for what you've done." Kaido said.
"It was no problem. We were happy to help." Kaen said.
"If it weren't for you, none of us would have survived." The first dwarf brother, Garm said with a smile. "We're in your debt."
"No prob." Rimuru said.
"Even if we had survived, my arm was almost ripped off, and I wouldn't have been able to work again." The second dwarf brother, Dord said.
"You're welcome."
"Mm-hmm, mm-hmm." The third dwarf brother, Myrd, nodded.
"Use your words." Rimuru said.
"Thanks again for your help." Garm smiled as they began to leave.
"We really owe you one." Dord said, following his brother.
"Mm-hmm." Myrd nodded being at the tail end of the trio as Kaido unlocked the cell door.
"Are we free to go?" Kaen questioned.
"Yes of course you are. In fact, follow me to the break room." Kaido said leading them away. After a few minutes of following the Dwarf guard to the break room, Kaen and Kaido were awash with the scent of heavenly cooking.
"Hey babe. I hope you're hungry." Mina said, as there was a large, almost giant sized, slab of perfectly cooked and seasoned meat on the break room table.
"Wow, that smells really good." Kaen smiled.
"An' look." Mina said holding a sack of money. "Some of the guards who were on break really wanted some of the food I made, so they offered to pay me to cook up the meat in the legs and tail of the Armorsaurus, since I refused to give them anything from the torso, because I was cooking that for you. I've been cooking for hours, so I hope you enjoy it."
"Awesome, now we'll be able to get some essentials before we leave for the village." Kaen cheered, as he sat on one of the couches, with Kaido sitting across from him with Mina sitting by his side after she brought some food.
"I gotta tell ya, those Senzu Beans and that healing potion you gave us really are something else." Kaido said. "They were the most remarkable things I've ever seen."
"It was no problem. Where we're from, doing deeds like that are part of what we train every day for." Mina smiled eating alongside Kaen, but with smaller portions.
"Still, I can't thank you enough. An' if you ever need a favor, you can count on me." Kaido stated.
"Well in that case…" Rimuru began, before looking to Kaen.
"Right." He said, getting what Rimuru was saying. "We originally came to the Armed Nation of Dwargon to find some artisans who we could hire to come to our village and teach some of our people to be artisans themselves. We live in a small village of Hobgoblins, but none of us know how to make proper shelter or clothing. We would really appreciate the help in finding some artisans who would be willing to accompany us back to our village."
"I see." Kaido said with a smile. "That's an easy fix. I'll take you to the best Blacksmith I know."
"Thanks, that'd be awesome." Rimuru said.
"There's no need to thank me. I'm happy to help out." Kaido chuckled.
~The Following Morning~
"Whoa. This all looks so cool, like its from a fantasy world." Mina said, eyes wide with excitement. "The city of Dwargon is so amazing."
"Everything's so advanced compared to the Goblin Village." Rimuru said.
"This way." Kaido called out, with Kaen standing beside him. "Don't get lost now."
"We don't really have the luxury of getting sidetracked. So let's just head straight for the shop." Kaen chuckled as Kaido led the way.
Following the dwarf through the city, Kaen couldn't help but be amused at how Mina was childishly reacting to everything. Wanting to live out a few days in a fantasy world, was a dream of hers he knew she wanted to come true more then anything, and this was certainly the day it was happening.
"Here we are." Kaido said.
"This is the place?" Mina asked.
"Trust me, this guy is great." Kaido smiled. "Hey, bro, it's me. You busy?" He called out, opening the door.
"Bro?" Rimuru asked.
"They must be brothers." Kaen said, as they followed Kaido into the shop.
Inside the shop, it was hotter than hell, with a bearded dwarf sitting by a fire, striking a blade he was forging, with eye wear that made Kaen think of his schoolmate Mei Hatsume.
"Hey Kaido, give me one sec." The dwarf said, the rhythm of his strikes going uninterrupted.
"Yeah sure."
"Sorry for the interruption, Sir." Kaen said with a polite bow.
"That's Kaijin. My older brother." Kaido introduced.
"He's definitely tough as nails." Mina stated.
"Oh hey."
Kaen, Rimuru, and Mina turned to see Garm, Dord, and Myrd standing in the doorway to the backroom with shocked looks on their faces.
"Oh, it's you three." Kaen said. "Still doing good from yesterday?"
"Yes, all thanks to the help from you three." Garm smiled.
"Oh you must be the three Kaido was so worried about." Mina said, realizing who they were.
"Mmm? Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize my brother brought over guests. Do you know each other?" Kaijin questioned, looking between his assistants and the guests.
"Indeed we do. It's the two we told you about yesterday." Garm said.
"They're the ones who gave us those great healing potions and beans that healed our injuries." Dord added.
"Mm-hmm." Myrd nodded.
"Oh, I've heard a lot about you. I can't thank you enough for saving the lives of these three. I really owe you for what you did." Kaijin said, getting up from his seat, and bowing to Kaen and Rimuru with respect.
"It's no problem." Kaen smiled. "Actually, it was Mina who gave Kaido the Senzu Beans for healing them."
"It doesn't matter who gave what. All that matters is they're okay now." Mina said.
"So uh, what did you need?" Kaijin questioned.
"We're looking for some artisans to travel to our goblin village with us. An' we were hoping you might be able to since Kaido says you're the best in all of Dwargon." Kaen explained.
"Hmm, yes I see." Kaijin said. "That's a conundrum. I'm sorry, I'm just too backed up to help out."
"That's a shame." Mina said.
"Thanks to that dimwitted minister, I've got more work than I can possibly handle." Kaijin stated.
"What do you mean?" Rimuru questioned.
"It's likely we'll be going to war soon, so he wants 20 longswords. All by the end of the week." Kaijin explained.
"That's an impossible task." Mina said.
"To make things even worse, I'm short on materials, and I've only gotten one done." Kaijin sighed.
"Dummy. Why didn't you say it was an impossible request?" Kaido questioned.
"Yeah, why didn't you just refuse?" Kaen asked.
"Don't call me a dummy." Kaijin exclaimed. "Besides, I actually did try to turn it down at first. But that snooty Minister Vesta just wouldn't let it go."
"What did he say?" Mina asked.
"Word for word? It went something like this." Kaijin said, before bringing up Vesta's words in a mocking tone. "How disappointing. I've always heard that the Great Kaijin was the best Blacksmith in the entire city of Dwargon. Yet he's unable to handle such a menial task?"
"You got played dude." Mina said. "He used reverse psychology on you like a pro, and preyed on your pride."
"No way I could ever let an insult like that slide." Kaijin stated. "It doesn't matter if he preyed on it, my pride was on the line."
"You said you had one sword done already, right?" Kaen asked. "Mind if we see it?"
"Sure I suppose that'd be alright." Kaijin said. "Garm go and fetch it, will ya?"
"Right." Garm said, heading to the back room.
"Mina, think you could work your magic on it like you do my drinks?" Kaen asked.
"I get what you're saying. An' I'm all over it." Mina smiled, tossing his a Rockstar.
"Here it is." Garm said, coming back with the sword. "As you can see, the blade is glowing, which indicates it has a magisteel core."
"Meaning it can change shape to fit the preferred wielding of whoever holds it." Kaen said. "Not bad."
"Great." Mina smiled grabbing it.
"What are you planning on doing?" Kaijin asked.
"Just watch." Kaen smirked. "Careful Mina, it's sharp."
"I know." Mina said, raising the blade up, and pointed directly at her chest, more specifically, just above her cleavage.
"Wait, don't." Kaido said, thinking she was gonna do the unthinkable.
Letting go of the blade, Mina smiled as the sword vanished into her Duplication Void, leaving the others, minus Kaen, perplexed at the fact Mina hadn't been run through by the sharp weapon.
"Alright Mina, bring them out." Kaen said.
"You got it babe." Mina smiled, reaching into her cleavage.
While they were blushing at what they were seeing, the five dwarves and one slime, were amazed when Mina started pulling out longsword, after longsword, until she'd pulled out a neatly stacked pyramid of longswords, all with magisteel cores on the table.
"Tada." Mina smiled presenting the pyramid. "59 flawless copies of the Magisteel Longsword with the original making it 60."
"How did she do that?" Rimuru questioned.
"A Unique Skill, called Duplication Void. Anything that goes in, Mina can make countless, flawless copies of." Kaen smiled. "Downside is, she needs to use the original as a blueprint for her Duplication Void to build off of, and have it in there at least once. So if you're wanting something shes never had in it before, then that's a no-go."
"All I have to do is think about what I want when I reach in, and I'll produce that item when I pull my hand out." Mina stated.
"But, 60 Longswords with Magisteel cores? That's amazing." Kaijin said. "Please, you must let me pay you back some how."
"Well… there is one thing you could do." Mina said.
"Anything." Kaijin pleaded.
"Would you be willing to come to our village to teach some of our people to become artisans themselves?" Kaen asked.
Kaijin looked at Mina and Kaen, before he smiled and started laughing with joy.
"Is that all? Of course, it'd be my honor to accompany you to your village." Kaijin smiled. "I'll be sure to train my students in the arts of black smithing, no matter how long it takes."
"That's great." Rimuru cheered.
"But for tonight, we celebrate." Kaijin said.
~Later That Evening~
"A party?" Mina, Kaen, and Rimuru asked at the same time.
"Yeah, I would never have made my delivery on time if it weren't for Mina." Kaijin said. "I even got a bonus for the additional 40 swords."
"Nonsense, you don't have to do that for me." Mina said. "I'm just happy with the deal we made."
"Well, Mina if you're not wanting to come. Would you be alright if we had a guys night instead?" Kaen asked.
"Sure. Works for me. I have to look for an inn anyways." Mina said. "Plus something to get as a souvenir to remember the trip."
"There's some jewelry shops still open if you're interested. I'm sure you could find something there. In fact, here take this." Kaijin said, giving Mina a bag of gold coins. "I figured you at least deserved part of the funds I got from the extra swords I turned in. So go crazy."
"You sure? I mean, I helped out so you could make your deadline on time." Mina said. "An' so we could get you to come to our village."
"I insist. It's the least we could do." Kaijin smiled. "Now c'mon Kaen, Rimuru. Let's get going. It's a tavern called, Butterflies of the Night."
"Do they have room and board?" Kaen asked.
"Of course. On the upper floors for travelers needing a place to stay while passing through." Garm said.
"Guess I know what I'll be looking for when I'm done with my late night shopping spree." Mina said, heading for the door. "You boys have fun."
"I don't think I should go." Rimuru said. "I'm not wanting to cause a fuss."
"Aw come on, it'll be fun. There's going to be lots of cute elf girls there." Garm said.
"Elves?" Rimuru questioned.
"I think you sold him on the party when you mentioned the elves." Kaen laughed. "C'mon let's go."
~Butterflies of the Night~
"It's Kaijin." One of the elf women said, as the bell of the door chimed, signaling it was opened. "Good to see you."
"Welcome masters." A total of eight elf girls said, greeting the six males, or rather five males and one slime, who came into their establishments.
"Holy crap." Rimuru practically shouted. "Elves! Elves. E-I-L-F!"
"Okay, we get it. None of us need a play-by-play of your preference." Kaen sighed.
"Aw, cutie!" One of the elf girls said running up, and pulling Rimuru into a hug, squeezing him into her chest.
"An' he's in elven heaven." Kaen sighed, before he felt someone grab his arm, and looked to the side to see it was a busty elf girl, with hooters probably bigger than Mina's, wearing a very skimpy gypsy belly dancer's outfit, with a bikini top instead of a normal top.
"Hey there handsome. Can I interest you in a good time?" She questioned.
'Holy crap she's a hottie.' Kaen thought. 'Calm down man, your heart belongs to Mina, and she's already pouring me a drink as I've sat down at the booth. How the hell did I get here?' He questioned as he was somehow at their booth without realizing it, with the elf girl pressing up close to him, while the elf Rimuru was sitting in the lap of, was on his other side.
"I still can't believe that happened earlier." Kaijin said with a hearty laugh. "After I busted my ass, Mina made 59 flawless longswords like it was nothing."
"Kaijin they were only flawless because they were duplicates of your original." Kaen said. "That's how the Duplication Void works. None of them are weaker nor imperfect. They are all of equal strength and durability, as the original. I apologize if that was out of line for Mina and I to do."
"Honestly, it is a little frustrating that I had relied on your help to exceed and make the deadline. No matter. I suppose next time I'll just have to make a weapon so amazing that even Mina's Duplication Void won't be able to copy it." Kaijin said. "I'd relish a challenge."
"Good luck. There's no limit to what she can hold in that endless void of hers." Kaen laughed. "But that's the spirit all the same. An' speaking of spirits, refill please." He called out, holding up an empty mug.
"Oh hey, Mister Slime. Mister Kaen." A dark skinned elf woman sitting across from them said. "Would you like to try something special?"
"Let me guess. You're a fortune teller aren't ya?" Kaen asked.
"How'd you know?" She asked.
"I've been to a fortune teller before, so I recognized the hand motions you were doing." Kaen explained.
"Aw phooey, I was hoping to fluster you a bit." She said.
"Sorry lady, you can't fluster this Saiyan." Kaen smirked with a laugh.
"Oh, you're a what now?" Kaijin questioned, sounding surprised after hearing Kaen say that.
"I'm a Saiyan." Kaen said proudly, unfurling his tail from his waist, and using it to hold his mug, leaving his hands free to cross his arms.
"Impressive. I've never heard of a Saiyan before." Kaijin said.
"Me neither." Garm chimed in.
"Not surprising." Rimuru said.
"We Saiyans usually like keeping to ourselves. So you won't really find any lore or legends about us if they haven't come from the lips of a Saiyan. But we are usually prone to battle when provoked enough." Kaen stated. "Mina's a Saiyan too."
"Oh, an' does she have a tail like yours?" Dord asked.
"She does, but it's pink like her hair." Kaen said. "Anyways, fortune teller lady. Why don't you tell Rimuru's future of who he's gonna spend the rest of his life with?"
"Oh that's a great idea." The elf smiled, bringing her crystal ball onto her lap. "Okay, let's see now."
Waving her hands over the crystal ball, clear sphere began to get cloudy as an image of a woman standing across from several children, came into view, with one of them running towards her. The image zoomed in on the woman, and to Kaen and Rimuru's shock, she looked like she was of Japanese heritage, before the visage broke and the crystal ball was clear again.
"Now that was a pretty lady." Kaijin said. "You're turning red."
"Gah. I don't change colors." Rimuru said.
"My this is interesting." A voice from the bar counter said. "Should you really be wasting your time drinking?"
Kaen turned to look at the bar counter to see a man dressed in white, with brunet hair on his head, along with facial hair.
"I'm guessing that is Minister Vesta?" Kaen asked, noticing how Kaijin got grumpy all of a sudden.
"Yeah, that's him." Kaijin said.
"You got the invoice on you?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I wanna witness his reaction to seeing how many swords you handed in." Kaen smirked mischievously, as he put on his Scouter Shades, and activated them.
"Good evening Kaijin." Vesta said before walking towards them. "Honestly I'm surprised you're playing around like this. Especially since the deadline for those swords is fast approaching."
"I'm gonna stop ya right there fancy pants." Kaen said, standing up and accepting the invoice from Kaijin. "Read this."
Vesta looked at Kaen, before taking the piece of paper. Sitting down as he smiled, Kaen was overjoyed when he saw Vesta's body trembling in disbelief when he got to the number of swords handed in.
"Impossible." Vesta said.
"That's why he's the best of the best." Kaen smirked.
"Ahem." Vesta said. "It doesn't matter. Finishing one's work in a timely manner as well as exceeding the clients expectations is all part of business. Honestly I'm more concerned with these creatures." He stated looking to Kaen and Rimuru.
"Got a problem with us pal?" Kaen asked, using his tail to bring his mug up to his lips.
"This is a nice place. I can't believe you'd have the audacity to bring those disgusting things inside and serve them like guests." Vesta said, giving them both a look of disgust. "Just looking at the slime alone makes me queasy."
"Watch it Vesta." Kaijin said.
"So, since when do you allow monsters inside your establishment?" Vesta questioned, looking to the tavern owner.
"While it is true that one of them's a slime monster, he's perfectly harmless. But the other patron is not a monster, so he's perfectly welcome inside our establishment." The tavern owner said coming to Vesta with a mug. "Please, have a drink on the house."
"Very well. I'll show you what these monsters deserve." Vesta said, taking the mug before turning around and dumping its contents on Kaen's head.
"Mr. Saiyan." One of the elf girls gasped as they all were in shock that Vesta did that.
"Fruit Wine. Alcohol content is 7%." Great Sage said.
'Thanks Great Sage, but this isn't the time for that.' Kaen thought.
"Kaen, are you alright?" Rimuru asked.
"I'm fine." Kaen said, before cracking his neck as the elf girls started cleaning him up. "Pissed off, but fine."
Before Kaen could even get up, Kaijin shocked everyone, and punched Vesta, square in the face, right between the eyes and on the bridge of his nose, sending him back a few feet.
"Hey Vesta. Just because those two are more polite then you are, doesn't mean I'm willing to let your insults slide. Not to mention, you just poured booze on a village chief." Kaijin said, cracking his knuckles.
"You… you brute. How dare you talk to a minister in such a manor."
"Shut up." Kaijin shouted, marching to Vesta.
"Kaijin."
"Go easy on him."
"Not in the face, aim for the body." Rimuru said.
Kaijin just pulled his arm back as he stepped up to Vesta and hit him with another punch, knocking the Minister back into his attendant, and sending them both to the floor.
"Kaijin?" Kaen began. "Was it a good idea to punch him? I know he poured booze all over me, but he's a Minister, and I don't want you getting into any trouble."
There was a tense moment of silence, before Kaijin straightened himself out, and rotated his shoulders, cracking his spine.
"Hey Kaen." The Dwarven artisan began. "You said you needed some, skilled artisans, right?"
"That's right." Kaen said.
"Think you can settle for me?" Kaijin asked, turning to look at him.
"Are you kidding?" Kaen inquired. "Kaijin you're the best of the best, if you came to my village, that'd be better then what we had planned. I'd be thrilled if you could help, welcome aboard."
~Later~
"Come on now bro. Just what the hell were you thinking?" Kaido asked, as he had Kaijin, Dord, Garm, Myrd, Rimuru, and Kaen in cuffs and chains.
"He had it coming." Kaijin huffed as Vesta was pulled away on a stretcher behind the guards. "That moron poured his drink all over Kaen, and I decided it'd be best to teach him a lesson."
"A lesson huh?" Kaido asked. "Look, you know you can't go around assaulting a Minister. I don't have a choice here, you broke the law, I have to take you into custody. You'll be detained in the guard house until the start of your trial. Guard."
"Sorry about this, it's not personal." The guard holding the lead chain said, before escorting them away.
As they past by the Ministers carriage however, Kaen felt a spark of a familiar presence within. His feeling was only confirmed when the door swung open, and a young girl wearing a fancy dress, jumped out and looked to their group.
"Papa."
"Eri?" Kaen questioned, turning back to her.
Eri ran from the carriage, and under the guards that tried to stop her, as Kaen knelt on the ground and wrapped his arms around her, as she jumped into his embrace.
"It is you." Kaen said, hugging her close. "Eri, where have you been all this time? Your mother and I have been so worried, and scared we'd never find you again."
"Papa, I was so scared. I woke up in King Gazel's castle, and was put in the care of Minister Vesta. But what happened, where did you go?" Eri asked.
"I'm sorry Kitten. The explosion sent your mother and I to a different location then you." Kaen said. "I'm just relieved you're safe."
"Where are you being taken now?" Eri asked.
"I'm sorry, but I got caught up in a bit of trouble, and have to pay the price. It shouldn't be too bad though." Kaen said, before looking up, as Kaido came to them. "Kaido, find Mina and make sure Eri gets to her safely. Inform King Gazel that her parents found her as well, so that there's no trouble whatsoever."
"Right." Kaido said.
"Eri, I'm gonna leave you with the Captain of the guard. But Mama will find you, if you stay with him." Kaen said.
"Where should I look for Mina first?" Kaido asked.
"Just stay close to the tavern. It has room and board so Mina's gonna find it to rent out a room for a night or two." Kaen said.
"Alright. Good luck with your trial." Kaido said.
~Guardhouse~
"He can't be serious." Kaen said, looking up at the Hobgoblin hanging from the ceiling. "Is Gobta a narcoleptic or something? He's been asleep for nearly 48hours."
"None of this would have happened if I had just controlled my temper." Kaijin said.
"It's fine." Kaen said. "The silver lining is, this incident managed to reunite me with my daughter."
"That is a positive way to look at this situation." Dord said.
"But what's worse, is I got the rest of you involved." Kaijin stated, before bowing to them. "Sorry."
"Hey it's okay, don't worry about it."
"Seriously, there's nothing to even apologize for."
"Mm-hmm."
"Say something." Rimuru practically shouted.
"Your brother said something about a trial. I'm assuming it's gonna be soon huh?" Kaen asked.
"Involving a Minister, we can probably expect it to be as early as tomorrow." Rimuru said.
"Yeah, don't worry about it. Besides, it'll likely end in a fine. We won't get executed or anything." Kaijin said, before laughing.
"Given Vesta's behavior, I'm pretty sure it'll be more then what he claims." Kaen said, before pulling out his shades. "Which is why I had these record the whole event, from the moment Vesta made himself known to us."
"What are those?"
"A type of device that allows for communication, as well as information gathering." Kaen explained.
"Still… is there a reason why that Minister Vesta guy seems to have it out for you?"
"It probably has something to do with our statures in society." Kaijin said. "He was born a nobleman, I a commoner. But I was Captain of the Guard with him as my second in command, while he was head of a scientific division. One day, one of the projects he'd been under pressure to complete, automatic golem soldiers made of magisteel, went out of control, and unfortunately the whole thing went up in flames, literally. He pinned the blame on me, and I was forced to resign, before I became an independent contracting blacksmith."
"What a pathetic creep." Rimuru said.
"You're not wrong." Kaijin said. "Still though, if I'm being honest. I really don't think he's that bad a guy. He and I had different ideas, but he's a hard worker and passionate about his research."
"Under all that entitlement and pride, I'm sure there's a kind fellow there somewhere." Kaen added.
"The pressure he felt from having to complete that project, came from his desire to please the King." Kaijin stated. "Me leaving this town might be good for him. Perhaps, he'll wise up and move on with life."
"Maybe he'll find a pretty girl, settle down, hell even start a family and forget all about his self appointed rivalry with you." Kaen stated.
"We can only hope." Rimuru said, before Kaijin got to his feet.
"On that note Kaen." Kaijin said, holding out his hand. "Thanks for having me on board."
"It's my honor, to have you join us and come to our village." Kaen said, shaking his hand.
"Now hold on a second. If you want Kaijin, then you gotta take us too."
"He's right, anywhere Kaijin goes we'll follow. We're a package."
"Mm-hmm."
"Wow you guys."
"Well Kaen? Would we get in your way too much if we tagged along?"
"I suppose I could put up with you three." Kaen smirked. "But be prepared, because I'm gonna work you to the bone."
