"Latios! Psyshock!"

"Detect!"

With a bit of style, Ash's Sirfetch'd gathered speed and dodged Mega Latios' attack, before beginning to rush towards it. Ash ordered a Breaking Swipe, and the duck threw its shield towards its opponent.

"Dodge it, Latios!"

" Not a big deal…" Latios thought, before taking flight. Breaking Swipe missed its target by quite a bit.

"Now! Psyshock!"

"Sis… I know it…"

Latios charged up its Psyshock as Sirfetch'd shield was rotating back towards its wielder, kind of like a boomerang effect. As the Eon Pokemon fired, Sirfetch'd managed to recover its shield and significantly cushion Psyshock's impact. Nevertheless, Sirfetch'd was still threw off.

" I guess I have to use this now…" Ash thought. "Sirfetch'd, Meteor Assault!"

"Giga Impact!" Jira responded. The two Pokemon charged at each other with breakneck speed, colliding at the center of the stage. A huge explosion was heard before the dust was cleared, with Latios and Sirfetch'd on opposing sides.

Moments of silence ensued before Sirfetch'd collapsed to the ground. Jira tied it.

"Sirfetch'd is unable to battle! Latios wins!"

"As expected! Latios makes it 1-1 for Jira! That type advantage must have been helpful!" the announcer spoke.

"Thank you, Sirfetch'd. Take a good rest." Ash smiled.

"Latios! You were great out there." Jira smirked at Mega Latios. "I'll need you for later. Return!"

As Jira returned his dragon-type Pokemon, some of Ash's friends were looking at him with smiles on their face. He was mostly the same person, after all. He was joyful, ready for battle and always with a smile on his face.

"Dragonite! I choose you!" Ash shouted.

"Feraligatr! Let's get them!" Jira responded.

As Dragonite and Feraligatr were sent out, Ash noticed that the weather was getting cloudy.

"This isn't good…" Ash thought. " If it starts raining, that would help Feraligatr. It's strong."

"Feraligatr! Dragon Dance!" Jira shouted.

"You do the same! Dragon Dance!" Ash responded.

As both Pokemon began to dance, Dawn, Serena and May watched with a bit of glee. They kind of wanted to know which Pokemon would be better in a Contest. Sylveon suddenly popped out of her pokeball and began dancing in a way similar to Dragonite, kind of showing which one she supported.

"And both of our heroes have boosted their attack and speed!" the announcer spoke. "Oh? What's this?"

A drop of water was seen… then another one, and another one. It began to rain outside, as the Wyndon arena covered the roof for the spectators.

Jira and Feraligatr smiled as the new conditions seemes to favour them.

"So… Ash. I hope you're ready."

"Feraligatr! Use Ice Punch!"

But Ash suddenly remembered something, and smirked.

"Hey. That move… it's always going to hit now."

"Hurricane!"

Dragonite immediately listened and formed a strong Hurricane, aided by the rainy weather, before firing it at Feraligatr as it engulfed the arena. This prevented Feraligatr from aiming with its Ice Punch, and was ultimately threw off back to Jira's side.

" Not bad." Jira thought, just as Hurricane ended. "Then how about this, Ash? Aqua Jet!"

The Johto starter quickly recovered and hit Dragonite. The crowd, including Ash's friends, couldn't see Feraligatr at all. Once the crocodillian was on Jira's side again, many of the spectators erupted, being impressed at Feraligatr's speed.

But Dragonite had other plans, as even a rain and Dragon Dance-boosted Aqua Jet turned out to only make it stumble a little.

"That Multiscale shows up again, this damn dragon of him." Jira thought. " I have to find a way around his Hurricane…"

"Feraligatr! Ice Punch again!"

"Dragon Claw!" Ash responded. The two Pokemon engaged in a close-range battle as Ice Punch and Dragon Claw met numerous times. The Johto starter just couldn't find a way to hit Dragonite.

"Both sides are getting worn out!" the announcer spoke.

"Feraligatr! Aqua Jet again!"

" Multiscale won't work twice. Heh."

"Dragonite! Catch Feraligatr!" Ash shouted.

" What?!"

Dragonite took damage from Aqua Jet, but just as Feraligatr was about to get out of there, it was grabbed by its head by the opponent.

"Crunch!" Jira shouted.

"Draco Meteor!" Ash responded.

Jira's Feraligatr was attempting to bite Dragonite by its stomach, but it got bit by Dragonite itself as Crunch eventually connected with Dragonite's right arm. The Dragon-type Pokemon was struggling in pain as it was charging its Draco Meteor.

"Dragonite! Stay there! Shoot Feraligatr using Draco Meteor!"

"No way!! That's like…" Dawn thought as her Piplup groaned a little.

Dragonite was able to shoot Feraligatr in the sky with Draco Meteor, before it exploded into numerous small comet-like rocks, creating a beautiful display.

When the dust settled, Dragonite was seen huffing and puffing, whereas its opponent was left motionless on the ground.

"Feraligatr is unable to battle! Dragonite wins!"

"Return, Feraligatr. You were good out there." Jira spoke.

"Nice strategy, Ash. You know how to get out of dirty situations, eh?"

"Well, I learned this with my Gible, back in Sinnoh", Ash responded. "I hope he's watching."

"And Ash is now leading 2-1! And it looks like the rain is over. Just a quick shower, I guess." the announcer went.

"So Ash, I know you'll hate this, but…"

" What?"

"Latios! Let's show them!"

"Him again?" Brock thought.

"He might try to take advantage of its weakened foes…" Misty added.

"Dragonite. Don't worry…" Ash said. "He's ours."

"Battle start!"

"Latios! Calm Mind!"

"Dragonite, stay there. Use Dragon Dance." Ash responded.

As both Pokemon increased their stats, Dragonite was really getting faster and faster. This worried Jira a little.

"Psyshock!" he shouted.

"Dragon Claw!" Ash responded as Dragonite was faster and managed to hit Latios with a boosted Dragon Claw. That hurt Latios a lot, and Jira couldn't afford to lose it this early in the battle.

" Sister… I promise I will… win…" Latios thought as he got up.

"Hey Latios… don't worry." Jira said.

"Good job, Dragonite! Follow up with Hurricane!"

"Giga Impact!" Jira suddenly shouted. Latios was able to quickly react and wasn't slowed down at all by the inconsistent Flying-type move. The Eon Pokemon hit Dragonite at point blank, leaving it unable to continue.

"Dragonite is unable to battle! Latios wins!" the referee shouted.

"And it's now 2-2! Latios might turn out to be the MVP of this battle! As expected from a legendary Dragon-type Pokemon!"

"Return, Dragonite. Thank you." Ash spoke before looking at Jira. This time, it looked like Latios was going to stay.

" Hmmm… looking at his team, it might not be the best idea to do… it. But I think Lucario might be of help for now."

"Lucario! I choose you!" Ash shouted.

The Aura Pokemon finally appeared to face its powerful opponent as Mega Latios was still signaling he could go on, despite heavy damage. From an outsider point of view, and I hope Weavile doesn't hear this… Latios was easily the most powerful Pokemon out of Jira's team.

"Lucario! Aura Sphere!" Ash shouted.

"Psyshock!" Jira responded as Lucario and the wounded Latios were engaging in their long-range battle. Lucario's Aura Sphere met Psyshock at the center of the battlefield.

As the dust cleared, Jira noticed something.

"He doesn't… mega evolve?"

"Lucario! Double Team!" Ash shouted.

"Latios… it's okay. Calm Mind." Jira responded.

As Lucario's clones surrounded its opponent, Latios began to think of Latias while boosting its special attack and special defense.

" Hey… big bro"

"What… what? Latias?!"

"I want you to know… that I'm here for you."

Latios smiled as he finished the move, before facing Lucario's clone army.

"Bullet Punch!"

"Grab Lucario!" Jira shouted.

"Oh no! Get out of there, Lucario!" Ash spoke. The clones dissappeared and Lucario cancelled Bullet Punch at the last moment right before Mega Latios got hold of it.

"Don't give it breathing room! Giga Impact!" Jira shouted.

"Double Team!" Ash responded. Lucario called upon its clones again, and was able to succesfully dodge Giga Impact before facing Latios' back.

"Bullet Punch!"

This time, the Steel-type move connected, bringing Latios to the ground.

"..."

"..."

"Grab it!" Jira spoke.

Latios popped out of nowhere and managed to grab Lucario…

"Hey, Ash. That earlier Draco Meteor of yours was cool. I was wondering if I could try it as well."

" Oh no…"

"Draco Meteor!" Jira shouted.

"Lucario!! Get out of there!" Ash spoke. But it was too late, as Lucario was shot into the sky by Latios' boosted Draco Meteor. Latios himself was huffing and puffing at this point, and he felt dizzy at this point. He knew, however, that he's done a great job.

Lucario fell to the ground as it looked like it was motionless.

"Lucario is unable to-"

"Urghhh…" a sound was heard. It was the jackal. Lucario got up to its knees at the last second and was barely breathing.

" Looks like the next move will be the last one." Ash thought.

"Let's get this over with! Giga Impact!" Jira shouted.

"Reversal!" Ash responded.

Lucario was charging its Reversal with its last drop of strength as Mega Latios was dashing towards it with huge speed. The two met on Ash's side of the battlefield and connected their moves, before both fell to the ground.

A few moments have passed before Latios seemed to get up…

"Lucario is unable to battle! Latios wins!"

"Incredible, a third win for Jira and Latios! What a beast of a disp-"

" Sis… I'm… sorry…"

"..."

"..."

"Latios is unable to battle!"

"..."

"Latios…"

" Hey, big bro. You were great out there."

"Latias?! What are you doing… in my mind?"

"You know. That's the Latios I know."

"Sis…"

Tears were rolling off Latios' eyes, with him returned to his base form as Ash and Lucario, who meanwhile stood up, were watching with their eyes wide open.

"Hey, Latios… don't cry…" Jira said slowly as he hugged the Eon Pokemon.

"Laaaa…"

"You defeated three of the World Champion's Pokemon. I'm proud of you."

Latios hugged Jira before he slowly smiled.

"I'm sure you're thinking about her. She is proud of you, too." Jira smiled.

"What a display by the powerful Eon Pokemon." the announcer said as the crowd cheered for Latios and Jira.

"Hey, Pikachu… and you, Lucario." Ash said. "Let's applaud him."

Ash began to clap for his opponent and so did his friends in the stand.

"Jira." he spoke. "You're the perfect trainer for Latios. He trusts you. And you were there for him just now."

"Man… what a Pokemon Latios is." May thought. "Just like in the Hoenn legends. A Pokemon with a pure heart."

Latios returned to Jira's side as he agreed to remain outside of his pokeball. Meanwhile, Ash returned his Lucario.

"Thank you, Lucario. I'll Mega Evolve you next time. You were awesome."

Ash and Jira were now down to just three Pokemon. Pikachu groaned a little knowing he wouldn't get his revenge over Latios, but Ash knew that the battle was far from over.
