After nagging for months, Ocean convinced St. Cassian High School to do a musical. Despite Ocean's pleas to do Wicked(in her words, she was born to play Glinda,) they decided on Jesus Christ Superstar. The audition process was chaotic. It mostly just involved Ocean and Noel fighting for Mary Magdalene.
The cast list came out on the Friday after auditions. Ocean pushed her way to the front of the list. Ocean's eyes scanned the list. She cringed when she saw her name wasn't beside Mary Magdalene. That's okay. Supporting characters are always more fascinating and are more of a challenge. Noel wasn't Mary either. Ocean spotted his name beside Simon.
Ocean eventually found her name. It was no shock to her that she was in the show. Ocean knew there was no way they didn't give her a role. It was where her name was that disturbed her. "The ensemble," Ocean screamed.
"Haha," Noel laughed. He managed to push his way to the front of the crowd. "Sucks to be you."
"You didn't get Mary either," Ocean said. "You're Simon."
"What?" Noel screeched. "That's the role I was born to play. Wait, if you're not Mary, and I'm not Mary, who is?"
Ocean's eyes scanned the cast list. Mischa was playing Jesus, which Ocean figured made sense. He and Noel were the only boys at the school who could carry a tune. Ricky joined Ocean in the ensemble list.
"Constance," Ocean declared. "Constance is Mary? How?"
"Is this the first thing we agree upon?" Noel asked. "It feels weird."
"There must have been a mistake," Ocean stuttered. "How does Constance get the female lead, and I get the ensemble? This production will be the worst thing that happened to an ALW show since the Cats movie!"
As Ocean predicted, their production of Jesus Christ Superstar was terrible. However, it had nothing to do with Constance's performance.
