The Fowler Anxiety Results
Chapter One
Amy Fowler looked at the watch and sighed, it was thirty seconds since the last time. Sheldon was uncharacteristically late; he had been working on his life story with Leonard and they had simply lost track of time. Amy had finished work early, picked up the kids and got them ready for the party. It was her parents' wedding anniversary and she had spent a fortune on new fancy clothes for herself and the children. She wanted to make a good impression on all her family. Since Amy and Sheldon had decided to have more than one child her family had been less than supportive. They had continually told her that she'd never manage twins and why did they even consider having more children after Leonard Stephen as he was the perfect child.
"Sheldon, come on" Amy was starting to lose her temper "we're Going to be late!"
Penny was feeling much better, the sicky feeling had passed and she was enjoying her pregnancy, the twenty-week scan was coming up and she couldn't wait to find out if baby Hoff IV was going to be a girl or a boy.
"Megan, are you ready?" Penny called out to her daughter "we're leaving soon"
"I'm coming, Mommy" Megan skipped out of the bathroom "I can't wait for the party"
"Stephen, put down the switch and get into the car"
"Leonard, we're only waiting for you!"
"Sheldon will you please help me put the twins into the car?"
"Leonard, I'm turning the key"
"Sheldon, I'm not waiting any longer"
"Great, let's go"
"Great, let's go"
It was Leonard and Penny that left first that night, but only by seconds and by the time they had made it to the STOP sign at the end of the street Amy had already a few cars ahead. It didn't surprise Penny that Amy was rushing a bit more than usual. It was her parents' party, and it would look terrible if they were late
"They're going a bit fast" Leonard thought out loud "there's a lot of cars on the road tonight"
"Amy's been really anxious about getting there on time" Penny reassured him, and herself too, if she was honest, "but you're right they're going too…"
Penny never got to finish that sentence, instead she watched as Amy drive quickly to get through the green light before it turned red and a car to their right jumped a red light at such speed that Amy's car, taking Amy, Sheldon, Stephen, Harmony and Melody with it, flipped over and smashed into another. The event was like something from a Hollywood blockbuster and almost as suddenly as it started, the accident was over. For a few seconds, time stood still, just like someone had pressed pause on the world and Leonard and Penny sat in stunned silence, as if they were trying to wake up from a very bad dream.
"Mommy?" Megan's tiny voice snapped them both back to reality "what happened to auntie Amy's car?"
"I don't know" Penny tried to disguise the fear, worry and overwhelming panic that was going through her mind "but try not to worry too much"
