The clacking of her heels echoed throughout the empty warehouse. A cold winter wind blew through one of the open doors behind her with a little bit of snow accompanying it. It was almost completely devoid of life within it.
Almost.
Spread throughout it were various sweets littering the ground and a man who was backed up against an old, rusting shipping container. She supposed that he was dressed like a hoodlum or gangster, she didn't really know how they looked, it was just with the nose piercing that had a chain on it, the goatee, and beenie far lower than it should be with his baggy clothes made him look like one. Or at least what the newer generation of Japanese gangsters were shown to be in movies and shows. They were no Yakuza afterall.
But she didn't really care for how he dressed, what she really cared about was how fearful his eyes looked right now. It was a look of primal fear that couldn't be replicated by anything other than imminent death. The look of prey that was about to be caught by a predator.
"STAY BACK YOU MONSTER!" He yelled as he raised his arm with his palm open. Lightning crackled weakly between his fingers as he showed that he wasn't about to go down without a fight.
It quickly shot out from his hand and hit her dead on. Lightning should have been able to incapacitate anyone who was made of rubber or had some sort of insulation Quirk, if not kill them. One billion volts of electricity would do that to a person. But then again, she was no ordinary person.
As the arcs of electricity danced on her body, she simply yawned and placed a hand to cover her mouth as she watched him with the laziest of looks and off handily said "Is this a message or something?" The man's eyes shrunk even further in fear than what should have been possible.
She absolutely loved it.
The hand that she had near her mouth moved away and she closed all fingers into a fist, except for her index finger. A small pink ball of energy that seemed to be bursting formed on the tip of her index finger. The man tried to start as a sadistic, toothy grin grew on her face.
She lazily pointed at the man and the ball shot forward from her finger, leaving a zigzagging trail of pink energy in its wake. It hit the man and in a puff of smoke-
21's eyes shot open as she could feel cold sweat all over her body and she involuntarily sat up in her bed. Her heart was rapidly beating in her chest and she had to take slow, deep breaths to calm it down. But it wasn't beating from fear of her nightmare.
It was beating in excitement.
And she hated herself for it.
Again, she thought to herself as she bit her bottom lip. It happened again. 21 desperately wanted to believe that they were just nightmares that she was conjuring up but a small part of her knew that they weren't. That small part knew that it was her. 21's other half who had given in to the endless hunger.
But before she could go any further into her own musings, the sound of small feet running across the hallway floor caught her attention. 21 turned her head to the door as it started to creak open and she couldn't help the smile that on her face as a mop of messy green hair started to make itself known.
"Mommy are you awake yet?" the two and a half, because the half year was a very important detail, Izuku asked as his head fully came through the door.
"Yes Izuku," 21 responded as she grabbed her black, square framed glasses from her nightstand. "Mommy is awake."
It was starting to become common place for Izuku to wake up before her because of the late nights she was starting to work into. It wasn't that she couldn't wake up before him, or that she needed much rest to begin with, it was just that her bed held her captive by the time she got off work and it wouldn't let her go.
Truly, the comfortable thing was evil.
"There's someone at the door," Izuku said as he fully opened her bedroom door. She could see that he was still wearing his All Might onesie pajama that he practically begged for. And who was she to say no?
"Then," 21 swung her feet from the end of the bed to over the edge and just barely touching the floor. "Let's go see who it is." She grabbed a random jacket and pair of sweatpants that were lying around to at least make her halfway decent and started to walk towards their front door. Izuku was behind her and to her right, following her like a duckling.
When 21 reached the door, she looked through the peephole and let a smile spread across her face before opening it. "Mitsuki, it's good to see you."
"Vomi," the woman before her said. Bakugo Mitsuki had spiky, ash blonde hair that was cut in a short fashion that reached the bottom of her neck in the back. Even though Mitsuki was in her mid-twenties, she didn't look a day past twenty due to her Quirk's side effect of having a moisturizing effect. If 21 was a normal woman, she might have been jealous of that fact.
But that wasn't what was important here. What was important was that Mituki's red eyes were staring right at her. In double. Because in her arms she was holding her son, Bakugo Katsuki. Katsuki looked very much like his mother, if Mitsuki was a young boy, and very little could currently be seen of his father, though that might change once puberty hits in a few years time. Both of them were wearing winter clothing to protect them from the frigid air. And to 21, Katsuki looked like a little marshmallow in his winter gear.
"Kacchan!" Izuku excitedly yelled in a way that only children his age could.
"Izu!" Katsuki responded with as much excitement as he practically jumped, fell, out of his mothers' arms. Mitsuki, being the oh so patient and graceful woman she was, let her son down to run to his friend. At no point did she call her son a little brat. Nor did she have an angry scowl on her face because her son did not accidently elbow her.
Nope.
None of that happened at all.
Regardless of what may or may not have happened though, it was an undisputed fact that Izuku and Katsuki were friends. The two had met at a local daycare center that 21 had found shortly before she started her job and they quickly became friends. Always going out on adventures and playing Hero. And it was through that friendship that she had met Mitsuki. And was Mitsuku a god sent friend.
When it became apparent that 21 was starting to pick up Izuku later and later, Mituki helped her out by letting Izuku stay at her place until she could pick him up. And 21 really did appreciate that. But that still didn't explain as for why Mitsuki and Katsuki were here though. Early in the mourning. On a Saturday...
"Is it the fifth already?" 21 asked in a slightly panicked tone.
"Yup," Mistuki replied with a hint of a smug tone, folding her arms beneath her chest, and a not so subtle smirk on her face. "Long night at work?"
"Not really," 21 opened the door more to let Mitsuki in before the two walked into the living room of their small apartment for two. "More of just a bad night of sleep."
"Ah, I understand that one. Whenever Katsuki sleeps with me and Masaru, he tends to kick us as he takes our bed and we don't exactly get any good sleep." 21 let out a small laugh as she imagined just how that would go for her good friend. Not to mention how she was sure Mitsuki would be angry the next day but wouldn't let it show.
They had reached the living room quickly enough and 21 had Mitsuki sit down on the couch while Izuku and Katsuki were running around and just wasting their endless energy. 21 went into the small kitchen and began to boil some water to make tea and reached into the cupboards to bring out some store bought snacks. The tea didn't take long to make and soon enough, two cups of steaming two were on the table in front of the couch.
It was only after Mitsuki had taken her first sip that the conversation resumed. "Speaking of work though, how's it going at the lab?"
And then a flip was switched inside 21 and excitement overtook her. "Do you want to see the latest that we've been working on?" Mitsuki, a bit put off by the excitement, nodded her head. And just as quickly, 21's excitement died off. "Though do you mind watching them for a minute while I shower? I'd rather not go out looking like I just woke up."
"It's something we have to go outside for?" Mitsuki asked honestly surprised.
21 only smiled smugly.
Now dressed in her signature sleeveless, red and blue checkered dress, a pair of heels, and black tights & detached arm sleeves, 21 stood out in the middle of an empty portion of the nearby park. The only thing that was missing on her was a lab coat, though instead she did wear a black peacoat in its place. She was holding a small, thin box in her hands as well. Mitsuki and their respective sons stood off to the side a bit of a distance away. Both Mistuki and Katsuki had looks of confusion on their faces as they were trying to figure out why they were at a park, Katsuki because he didn't understand why they were not playing yet and Mitsuki as for why a park to show off in.
Izuku, on the other hand, was practically vibrating from excitement at getting to see his mom do something that she had described as "cool." 21 could honestly say that it felt nice to be looked at in such a way. He was looking at her the same way he did whenever All Might was on tv.
Maybe I can be a little flashy to show off, 21 thought to herself. A quick glance at the three onlookers quickly squashed that idea as she remembered Mistuku was also there and she might not let her live it down if she did anything that was too embarrassing. So with a mental sigh to herself, 21 opened up the case she was holding.
Now, which one to show them? 21 thought to herself.
To the three onlookers it looked like 21 had just opened up the case and grabbed something from it. She then threw whatever it was with a casual toss away from her and she took a step back. In the next instant there was a large puff of smoke that came out of nowhere and covered a large area until it quickly disappeared.
Where once was an empty dirt lot, now there stood a simple swing set.
It wasn't anything fancy or over the top but to say that the three onlookers were shocked was an understatement. All of them had their jaws hanging open and eyes bulging out of their sockets like something out of a cartoon, just not as exaggerated.
Izuku was the first to recover from the shock and ran towards the new swings. Bakugo was quickly behind him after seeing friend moving. But for Mitsuki, it wasn't until she heard the laughter of her friend that finally snapped out of her shock.
"Wha- But-... HOW?" Mitsuki all but demanded in disbelief. 21 simply motioned for her to come over... while she was still having a bit of difficulty containing her laughter. When Mitsuku was finally standing next to her friend, she became even more confused when 21 opened the box to show her "Capsules?"
When Mitsuki looked back up at her friend, the only answer she got was a smug grin and light reflecting off of her glasses.
"Mommy... I can't eat anymore... zzzzz..." Izuku said as 21 tucked him into bed for the night. She couldn't help but wonder about the type of dream that the young boy was having. 21 moved up to give a kiss onto his forehead that he seemed to snuggle into when she did. That melted her heart and made way into a smile from such a simple thing. Her hand moved to the All Might night light and turned it on before she turned off the main light and almost closed the door. She took one last look at Izuku with a smile still on her face.
But it was quickly squashed by the sudden guilt that surfaced through.
I shouldn't be the one doing this, she thought before closing the door behind her. Not the one who killed his real parents. 21 walked into the living room area and started to make herself a cup of hot chocolate. She didn't need the caffeine from coffee right now since it was a day off for her. Once it was made she opened the slider to the terrace and simply watched the city from their apartment building. Snow was falling gently throughout the city and was slowly starting to build up on the roofs and streets within her view.
It was probably the most peaceful view she had seen since her creation.
It's already been over two years, 21 took a sip of the hot chocolate as she continued to gaze out. And I still don't know why I'm here.
When she first came here, it was a bit of a struggle. The media was pestering her about what had happened with the 'Mysterious Explosion' that many now believed to be caused by an out of control Quirk. Learning all that she needed to about this world also took some time and effort to do. This Earth was so similar to hers but also different at the same time. The biggest example being Quirks. But the biggest struggle was definitely, and still is, raising Izuku. Money wasn't the issue, neither was actually taking care of him. No, it was the fact that the last time she had decided to 'adopt' a son, she blew his mechanical body to smithereens.
To say that she had insecurities in raising a child from a much younger age to full adulthood would be an understatement.
With some of the beverage now gone, she began to swirl it around in the cup by moving the cup around a bit. I no longer feel that endless hunger but I don't know why that is.
This wasn't the first time that 21 had had these thoughts. Nor was it the first time in the two years since she came here that she was at a loss for what to do. Yes, she enjoyed her work being a researcher. That at least let her occupy her time and mind by doing something. But even when she was first created she had a goal to move to. It may have changed somewhere along the line but it was still something to strive for.
But if there was one thing that she was certain about currently, it was that she didn't want to get involved with any of the Hero or Villain activity at all.
I... definitely made this one faster than intended... And decided to post early because of the fact that I am currently working on moving, this in my spare time, and won't have internet for a certain time frame of unknown length. So I wanna get a few of these out her before that.
And one thing I should probably make clear since someone mentioned it in a review...
This is not a Android 21 x Izuku pairing story. This is a 21 is Izuku's mom story.
I don't even know who, or if, I'll pair either of these characters up with. But for these first few chapters I really do want to establish not only 21's place in the world currently but also her relationship with Izuku, who she feels guilty for raising since she killed both of his parents. And yes, I decided to bring in capsules because I feel like they would make the Hero business much easier for certain situations. Like imagine a raging fire that could be put out with a few capsules that had dozens of gallons of water in them.
Anyway, FF is being weird with emails regarding reviews so I guess I'll answer them here.
Sarah9730 - If by "lov world" you mean the whole world, I say.. where would be the fun in that? Because don't worry, I'm not depowering her for artificial difficulty but there are some surprises that I have in store.
Verifiaman - I hope that this is more clarified now and I probably will change the summary later. It really was a 'let me just put something down so I can post this" thing.
Ultima-owner - Who said that this was a second chance?
Anyways, that's it for now.
Read, review, and enjoy.
Stay Frosty,
