A fist impacted onto his face causing him to stagger back a step before he tried to swing his fist back in an uppercut. Keyword being 'tried.' Izuku's small fist was caught by the older kid, who smirked and made sure that Izuku's eye violently met his fist. And the older kid made sure that he was still holding onto Izuku's fist so that he wouldn't move away from him.
That was until Katsuki decked the older kid across his face with his own fist, causing the older one to let go of Izuku momentarily. This allowed Izuku a moment to catch his breathing and to get back into the fight. Izuku planted his foot down so that he could start a run to tackle the older kid, who was currently throwing punches at Katsuki who was blocking some of them but most of them slipped by. The weight that Izuku had wasn't much but it was enough for him to stagger the older kid back when he tackled his waist.
"Damn it!" The older kid said before his elbow went into the back of Izuku's head. The pain was intense and he really wanted to cry and run to his mom so that she could make him feel better. But that was not an option right now. "If you're this mad then I guess it really is true."
"Shut up!" Izuku yelled as he threw his fist into the side of the older kid. He felt Katsuki step onto his back, something that Izuku really didn't mind at the moment, and decked him in the face and all heard an audible snap as the older kid reeled back. Unfortunately for him though, Izuku was still holding onto him.
Izuku felt the weight shift and did his best to try and lift the heavier and older kid. Kastuki felt Izuki start to move and hopped off his back so that he could let Izuku try and do what he was doing. Right as Katsuki landed on the ground however, he shot forward and grabbed one of the legs of the older kid. Izuku saw this and shifted from trying to lift the older kid at the waist to the leg that Katsuki wasn't wrapped around and the two friends used all their strength to lift the older one off of his feet.
"Wha-what the?!" The older kid flailed his arms around in an attempt to try and regain balance. All he was rewarded with was the sensation of falling backwards and hitting the back of his head with the dirt. "OWWW!" He cradled and rubbed the back of his head for a second before he shot the two friends a fierce glare, blood dripping down his nose from the punch that Katsuki had just thrown moments ago. "YOU TWO ARE GONNA PAY FOR THAT!"
The older boy punched his fists together and when they came apart jagged bone was on the surface of his skin. It wasn't much, or even dangerous looking, but to the two young boys it made a world of difference. Neither of them had a quirk yet and the older boy did. Obviously they would panic and seeing their panic put a smug grin on the older boy's face.
"Hey! What are you kids doing?!" The loud voice of the adult caused all three to momentarily pause to see a police officer running at them.
"Crap baskets," the older kid said as he was now the one looking panicked before he ran off.
"Hey you!" The Police Officer yelled at the fleeing boy but he was already gone by the time he reached them. He clicked his tongue in annoyance and instead he just looked at the two younger boys who had yet to move from their spot because they were trying to catch their breaths. Letting out a quick sigh the police officer regained his composure and spoke in a tone that only adults had that made children listen to them. "Follow me so that we can contact you parents. You're both in trouble."
Izuku could only stare at the ground in guilt as he sat in the Police Box alongside Katsuki. The blood had been wiped away from their faces and bandages applied where they had to be by the partner of the man who brought them here, a younger female officer who tried her best to ask them what had happened. Both Izuku and Katsuki had been stubbornly refusing to tell what had happened. And for a while they both held their heads high with pride for what they were able to accomplish in their fight against the older boy who got away, and later got in trouble at a different police box for the fight.
But they could only hold their heads so high until their parents came to the box to grab them. Katsuki's parents were the first to arrive and Mitsuki was more than enough to be angry on the absent behalf of Izuku's mom while Masaru let himself fall into the role of a stern and disappointed dad.
"What do you mean nothing happened?!" Mistuki yelled at Katsuki. "If that's your attitude towards it then I hope you're ready to be grounded for the next week mister!"
Katsuki let out an angry "What!" and a few angry mumbles but didn't fight it.
"What was that young man?" Mitsuki asked as he looked away and didn't answer her. She angrily looked at him for a minute before she turned to Izuku. "And what about you? Do you have any idea how Vomi will be whe-"
"Sorry I'm late. I was on the other side of town," Izuku's mother said as she came into the Police Box. That was when Izuku decided that the floor had a really nice spot to stare at. He heard the clacking of her heels as she walked up to him and he could see them as well when she stopped right in front of him. "Izuku."
When he still refused to look up at her, his mother knelt down to be eye level with him and gently placed her hands on his shoulders. "Izuku, what happened?"
"..." Izuku grumbled something under his breath that no one could hear.
"Izu-"
"HE SAID THAT I DON'T HAVE A DAD IS BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT MY REAL MOM!" Izuku yelled with teary eyes as he looked up to his mom. The words had shocked everyone into silence and it took a few awkward seconds before anyone moved.
The older of the two Police regained his composure the fastest of anyone and gently coughed before anyone else moved. Mitsuki and Masaru ushered a confused Katsuki out while they wore a bit of a panicky and sympathetic expression. The younger of the two officers looked like she didn't know what to do or say and had her mouth opening and closing while she moved her arms to try and do something with them but a quick look to her superior calmed her down as he shook his head at her. But none of that mattered to Izuku as he was only staring at one person.
Midoriya Vomi.
The one who has been raising him by herself for as long as he could remember.
His mom.
Izuku didn't notice the shock that had ran its course through her. All he saw was when she looked at him with a sad smile. She didn't say anything as she easily picked him up and bowed to the two police officers and apologized for what had happened before she left the police box while carrying him. Izuku just cried into her shoulder the whole time.
Izuku didn't know how much time had passed, all he knew was that his mom had finally stopped walking. He knew that they were in some kind of park but that was it. They had received many strange and concerned looks while they were walking over there but not many tried to do anything about a woman with a crying child in her arms. And the ones that did were quickly done away with with a glance from his mom. Even the Pro Heroes backed away from her.
His mom didn't say anything and simply put him down on the ground. As far as he could tell, they were in a park of some sort. There were no trees around them, for most of them were still saplings, and the most prominent feature was where several pathways intersected into a circle with a large, black obelisk-like stone that was in front of him. The obelisk-like stone wasn't all too special; It was made from a black granite material, had eight sides, as opposed to four, and it wasn't too much taller than his mom. But the most striking feature on it was only seen as he walked closer to it.
Etched into the surface of all the sides was Kanji.
Kanji for names.
"About three years ago," his mom began before he could even ask the question as for what the stone with names was for. "There was a large explosion in this area that took out a large section of the city. Many people were injured. Even more were killed."
Izuku looked back at his mom with shock and confusion. He understood what being hurt was but not what being killed was. But she continued on while staring at the stone monument, her hands in her coat pockets and the glint on her glasses concealing her eyes.
"This is the place where... where your parents, your *real* parents died..." Izuku looked back at the monument again with an unknown feeling in his chest. All he really knew was that it hurt. It hurt to know that his mom, the only mom that he knew and had been taking care of him for as long as he could remember, wasn't his actual mom... not his only mom. "...two sides to the right, three down from the middle." He knew that they weren't instructions but he went to the side that she said and looked exactly where she said to.
And there it was.
Kanji he was familiar with.
Kanji for his family name, Midoriya.
But also Kanji for two names he didn't know.
"Midoriya Hisashi and Inko."
Izuku just stood there, his mouth constantly opening and closing in an attempt to, and failing, to say something. He didn't know how long this lasted for but when he was finally able to say something it was just a simple word. "...how?"
"...some say that it was an accident with a Quirk, others a terrorist act, most think it was a Villian who was backed into a corner by Heroes." His... mom, he didn't know what to call her right now, sounded sad as she explained that. Like she wanted to cry but wasn't going to. And before Izuku knew what he was doing, he found himself hugging the woman who had been taking care of him in place of his parents.
He hugged his mom.
And that seemed to be the straw that broke the camel's back as she knelt down to hug him back as tight as she could and cried. It hurt a little bit from how strong she was but he didn't mind. What he didn't understand though was why she was saying 'I'm sorry,' over and over again.
"It's ok... mom," he said as he hugged her. And that made her pause in her apologies.
It was a few days later when Izuku made sure that his mom was asleep from work that he decided to go on the computer they owned. It was a basic pc not really meant for anything special aside from just general use. Also, it didn't need a password to log on to. Plus, he just wanted to make sure that his mom didn't know what he was doing. It felt wrong to do something behind his mom's back but he felt like he had to so this on his own.
Once the computer was on and warmed up, he brought up the internet browser and its default search browser. He knew how to use it from asking his mom to help him search up All Mights' debut video and from the past couple of days of asking her to let him do it on his own... with her supervision. She said it was something about making sure he didn't find anything he wasn't supposed to. Whatever that meant.
Anyway, in the search bar he typed in what it was he wanted to find:
Big explosions
This resulted in a wide variety of results ranging from videos of Americans doing things that Americans do to pictures of an anime girl with an eyepatch saying 'Explosion!' Nothing that he was looking for though. So he had to change it up a bit.
Big explosions recently
This brought up news articles and videos about some countries that were still having border conflicts in the age of Quirks as well as the same anime girl saying the same thing but either in better quality or more of an adult. He could care less about the anime girl and didn't want to read, he wanted a video darn it! So once again he changed up what he was searching for.
Big explosions recently Mustafu
Now that brought an interesting result. One of the first video results had a thumbnail of All Might on it. As well as his mom being carried by All Might.
Mom knows All Might?! Now that was something he had to see. His search temporarily forgotten, he clicked on the video link and let it load. The first thing he noticed was that it was a video from the news and not a phone, so the quality was good enough to even make out the background in the distance. The next thing was when the video itself was actually playing, what the reporter said caught his attention.
"...erious explosion in the heart of Mustafu City. The investigation is still ongoing and authorities have yet-" The camera moved upwards as the figure of All Might carrying his mom started to come closer. "All Might!? All Might is already on the scene and has already begun the Search & Rescue for the survivors." It was just after All Might let his mom down onto the ground and after he jumped away that the news crew, and he noticed others in the background as well, moved in to try and interview his mom. But he tuned the rest of that out as he noticed that she was holding a small baby in her arms. One that had a mop of green hair that could be seen. And it was at that moment that Izuku decided his own fate deep within his heart.
I'm gonna be a Hero, Izuku thought with a newfound determination.
A little heavy of a chapter but one I A) wanted to get out of the way early and B) wasn't actually planning to write it this way.
I wanted this chapter from the perspective of Izuku and started it out with a fight, our first fight by the way. It was a kids fight but whatever. So anyway, The fight was gonna be way shorter than what was actually written until I went back and added stuff into it. It also got me thinking Why would Izuku get into a fight at this age?
The obvious answer? Someone insulted his friends/family. In this case, 21. His mom.
The biggest thing that I want to mention though is that Izuku is a kid, less than 4 but more than 3 in age, and he won't think too deeply about a lot of things. Hence why this matter was resolved quickly in my opinion/way I did it. I'd rather avoid teenage angst that other fics on this site seem so focused on for no reason.
And this one came out fast because I'm mostly waiting on email responses from people. So I had free time to write this.
Regardless, emails for reviews are working again but I'll still answer them here.
Colossus Bridger - There are already plans in place for what 21 and Izuku will do for that. And while I wasn't going for adorable, I'll take it.
Firebird0315 - Some of that would go against why I'm keeping him Human but don't worry. There is someone planned for an antagonist.
LaUgHiNgmaN - Fate does seem to work in mysterious ways sometimes. *coughcough*me*coughcough*
ArguableReader - Don't get me wrong, I like Saiyans but they are overused on this site for every fic, especially OC's or just making a character a Saiyan in general. And I left it vague enough to be any of the three timelines or even a 4th timeline that someone wants to use as their own thing. And it's mostly whatever the Human tech was in Age 779.
Anyway,
Read, review, and enjoy
Stay Frosty,
