[The shot opens on the exterior of an ordinary house, which zooms up to a bedroom where a boy, Morty, is scribbling at his desk.]

MORTY: Oh, boy, I do love being a child and having no adult responsibilities.

[An elderly man, Rick, enters the room without knocking and belches loudly.]

RICK: Come with me, Morty. I must go into space, and possibly also time travel.

MORTY: But, Rick! I'm a child and must attend to my school work.

RICK: No, Morty. I'm older than you so you must obey.

[Rick belches. The shot cuts to Rick and Morty flying in a spaceship from time and space]

MORTY: Oh, Rick. Where are we going?

RICK: Who knows, Morty. Who knows.

[Morty glances up at Rick]

MORTY: But what do you need me for? I'm just a kid.

RICK: It's called being an adult! It means you're irresponsible!

[Planets and vortexes whirl past their spaceship. Morty glances at the camera then back again]

MORTY: And - this is entertaining?

[Rick belches]

RICK: Sure, why not.

[Morty pauses]

MORTY: I mean, I could be at home safe and warm. Do oogie boogie monsters appear? Because that's Doctor Who.
