Draculaura Pov:
"Tonight is Nightmore, the one night where all monsters and Kaiju share each other's traditions along host a party that is unlike any other. While in the past I've attended my dad's parties since he was the most well known vampire in the world, I only got noticed as his batty princess. So after several favors from cleaning his trophies for being the most frightening and awards for his movie career since humans believed he looked like a genuine vampire. I got to host my first Nightmare party at his winter mansion! Not like it's a big deal but it is since I'm going to have monsters and Kaiju's over that aren't just vampires. I've already got the activities ready for tonight, all I'm just waiting for is one last piece of decoration."
Dracula's Winter Mansion-Afternoon
When the holiday comes across the realm several rules are set in places such as Monster High being closed for the weekend for students to visit their families and loved ones. Several stores open but most of them close due to how on Nevermore night, the sky would lighten in a way unlike any other in the realm. Right now Draculaura was checking out everything that she had ready for the party she was hosting tonight.
"Alright. Tomato juice check, spare rock candy from the bake sale check. No broken pieces of stakes lying around, check. All I need now is the tree."
Checking her list of several tasks that needed to be handled before having the party properly started. Continuing to look around the mansion and remembering the times when her father hosted incredible Nightmore parties. There was a sudden thump at the door which made Draculaura jump a bit from the sudden scare, seeing a shadow underneath the edge of the door frame that was massive. The doors kicked wide open sending a gust of air breezing into the mansion, covering her eyes from the sudden breeze she saw a shadowy figure at the entrance holding a large object.
"Tusk and Abbey bring Nightmore tree of fright!"
A booming voice announced as she recognized the ice pair as Abbey and Tusk, getting a better look she saw how the two had a large tree in their possession a massive tree. Rolling her eyes at the sudden announcement, Draculaura made sure to guide the tree to the spot where she would have it placed. Letting go at the top of the tree, Tusk placed the chopped off half onto the floor where she had a stand ready for it to stand. Moving back and looking at the large pine tree, the two yeti's smiled at the sight.
"Quite the tree we've obtained? It will be perfect decor yeti decorations I've brought from the village."
Abbey telling Draculaura about several of the ornaments that she had brought with her to hang on the tree as it was tradition to put on numerous items that represented their family and backgrounds. The vampire girl smiled at the sight as it was good she was able to do this since it was the first time she have a party that involved multiple species.
"Most of them are from hunts and challenges we did when growing up. This one is Tusk's baby tooth."
Tusk stated to the vampire as he placed his old baby tooth that had been fashioned into an ornament, it was surprising to Draculaura since it was much larger than her father's or any other vampire's. Abbey placed on several frozen snowflakes that had been in her family for several years, admiring the yeti's ornaments Draculaura heard a grunting sound from the entrance as it was the others.
"Oh no don't mind us. We're lifting your entire party in a coffin here."
Speaking out none other than Junior was lifting a coffin shaped box that had numerous other materials that were collected for the party. Walking into the mansion he was followed by everyone else, each of them having their type of entertainment for tonight since they had the entire mansion to themselves. Clawdeen herself couldn't help but look around the vampire home since it was her first time being in a vampire mansion.
"So let me guess, this was one of the mansions that your dad used during his time as a movie star?"
Asking Draculaura about how she remembered seeing this mansion before but in a movie that her dad watched when he was growing up. Walking by her side was Frankie who was able to bring up several movies that the vampire dad was involved in, this was his last one before becoming a father for Draculaura.
"This was supposed to be the opening act for when Dracula was about to settle in his new home after fleeing his fight with the infamous monster hunter Van Helsing. If I remember one of the floors triggers a trap."
The reanimated ghoul was curious about how the mansion had several devices that were set when the movie was in production. Trying out the wooden floor to see if a reaction would happen, they accidentally stepped on a pressurized spot which sent several flying wooden stakes out of a painting. Flying right out it flew right at an unknown fire imp that was Heath except the steaks bounced off him as if they were fake, though he didn't know that.
"Damn it in hit! I'm dying! I can't believe I'm going out like this! I thought it involve sky diving in a volcano after beating all the monster world records!"
Thinking that he was dying from whatever hit him in the chest. By the doors was Rhodey who had several boxes with him as they were presents for the group the Pteranodon teen took a look at his friend along with the fake stakes. Chuckling at the sight Heath took a moment to look at the prop stakes as the fiery boy lets out fire from his hair in an upset manner.
"Should have talked about how my dad hasn't taken out some of the props in the mansion. It's been years since I've been here, so everyone might want to watch their surroundings."
Draculaura told him and everyone else coming such as Lagoona and Titan who had several plates of food for the occasion since they could bring anything to the party. Setting the coffin box down near the fireplace and looking at everyone, Junior felt rather uncomfortable since it was the first time him being involved with a group. The kaiju looked outside of the window seeing how the sun was slowly setting up on the mountain as the mood was set.
"Something bothering you?"
A voice interrupted his moment of silence as it was Clawdeen who seemed concerned about the Kaiju's change in personality since when Draculaura informed her and the others about this party he seemed fascinated by it. Though now being here with everyone and hearing all kinds of conversations happening, it made him feel out of place.
"No, it's, I'm not used to parties. Sure when it comes to me performing for strangers and Kaiju that might want to become king? Don't mind. This? It just feels weird to me."
Junior expresses an uncertain tone in this moment since he would not be so invested in groups due to him trying to keep living. Though this time he had people who accepted him and weren't afraid of his real identity. While not being afraid of the possible danger that might come their way knowing any Kaiju would use them to get to him. Clawdeen decided to look outside admiring the sight since she never had the chance to watch the sunset without anyone else except for her parents.
"It's new to me as well, but that doesn't mean you can't talk about it. Everyone here knows that you are the king and I'm half human, except for the part about Draculaura being a witch."
Clawdeen stated how it was much of an experience for her to be invited to a monster and Kaiju party and whisper the last part since the others didn't know about her secret. However, she could share his experience in trying to be welcomed by others not knowing what the outcome would be. While she may have adapted well to everyone, Junior felt different and out of place.
"That still doesn't mean you shouldn't feel included, this holiday is for everyone. Even if we may be both new to the moment."
Suggesting how the two should try and enjoy the monster holiday together seeing how most of their friends were getting things settled for the party. Deciding to get the supplies and other materials set up, Draculaura began to check off several other things on her list to make sure things would be ready for tonight. Just as things seemed ready she heard combustion going on from behind her as it was Heath and Rhodey who were having a contest on making the fireplace bright.
"Is that you got birdie? Stand back. I'll show you how I bring the heat."
Heath stated to Rhodey as he made both of his hands ignite in the fire before throwing it towards the fireplace. Everyone was blinded by the bright light as well noticed how it could have been seen from the outside of the mansion. Frankie saw how bright it was which caused them to yell at the sight and hide behind Tusk's back due to his size and the fur he was covered in.
"Sorry, my dad had a phobia of fire. Not too much but enough that it looks like an angry mob."
Explaining the fear of fire as Lagoona walked over to her set of materials which involved a pitcher of water. Throwing it at the fire made the light dimmer it a bit which made the fire smaller, this made Frankie breathe in relief from how the fire had diminished by not being so bright. Both the fiery individuals looked nervous at how they almost scared Frankie which earned a growl from Junior since they should have been careful with starting the fire.
"Now that we have everyone here except for Deuce and Mira who returned to Greece to spend the holiday with Medusa, Cleo and Caesar returning to Egypt meeting up with her sister Nefera. We can still have a good party."
Draculaura told them about how several of them had to attend to family matters and that they could enjoy the evening to themselves. Just as the vampire made her announcement to everyone they saw how the moon was slowly emerging into the sky. Everyone looked out seeing the afternoon going away as it seem that Nightmore had begun.
"This is when the fun starts?"
Abbey asked curious about how the host would start things off Draculaura nodded with a smile which was surprising for her since most days she didn't see herself in this type of mood. Acknowledging the yeti and walking over grabbing herself a cup of tomato juice. Raising it to her friends they got out different beverages to enjoy for tonight's activities.
"Dreadful Nightmore!"
All of them announced to commence with the party while sharing laughter about how it be quite the night. All the while Junior still felt unsure about being in an event like this, however, he wasn't going to miss his one time of being happy amongst everyone like him. Letting out a powerful roar in the air getting the moment as everyone got freaked out about the sudden yell, Junior merely did a small smile as the others could see he was trying to be optimistic about the moment and enjoy the night with everyone.
Later on
A couple of hours pass away and the party was going off eventful, both monster and Kaiju teens were talking about their old Nightmore stories and how they had special moments happening to one another. They were right now listening to Titan's story about how during his family's Nightmore party, they accidentally caused a tidal wave to wipe out an entire island.
"Yeah. My folks got into a lot of trouble with your old man, still. He managed to forgive them, I mean before Pandora came here in the realm. Gojira would blow up a mountain to get Kaiju to them to relax."
Summarizing how his parents had a run in with the old king which made most of them rather surprised about how Junior's father was once a serious ruler of this realm. Though that was before Pandora came to the realm and helped him ease his rule over the others and become a calmer reptile. Just as they continued to talk to one another about stories, Draculaura looked at her Icoffin noticing how there was another agenda they needed to do next.
"Ok. So that wraps up on family stories, now it's time for the fun part. The scary stories."
Telling them about the fun part of the party as she muttered a small spell that made the fireplace light up in a sinister manner getting everyone scared. Except for Junior since he's seen his fair share of fires from different Kaiju while he was growing up. Everyone began to think about stories to share, however, Clawdeen knew what she could share.
"Scary? Well, there is one when I was growing up that I've been waiting to share."
Clawdeen suggested to her friends as a means to open up to the group as everyone got curious to see what she had to share. Chuckling at the sight of the monsters and Kaiju's faces, the werewolf girl chuckled at their expressions knowing she was going to enjoy this.
"This story happens on a cold and dark night, much like Nightmore. Because this was in the mountains where I lived with my parents. And they always warned me to never, leave home at night because of what was out in the woods."
Starting with a frightening intro involving as usual a creature that seemed rather scary at first. Though eventually, it wouldn't be as frightening as the story would go on, however the smile that grew on Clawdeen's face knew otherwise.
"The creature was huge like Junior but wider. With four eyes and this scent that could knock out even the toughest of monsters."
Describing what the monster was as it had everyone interested in her tale. Junior got suspicious if what she was saying was true along the monster teens since the only ones who knew who were terrifying were their parents.
"Now what made this monster special was its hands. They didn't have claws or any extra fingers, it looked like any other hand. Except it could bust down a door with a single swing."
Telling them about the hand as she did a swinging motion by Draculaura and the others on the side making them yell in fear. Taking a moment to get themselves settled, they continued to listen to Clawdeen as she saw how invested they got in the story.
"That night I was doing my usual howls, to encourage myself if I ever planned on heading out. That then, right my door I heard a low rumbling growl."
Stopping for a moment before letting out a yell which made even Junior jump due to how he didn't see this side of her. The werewolf took a moment to look at everyone who seemed even petrified about if the monster was in her room, leaving continue until the end.
"I saw underneath the doorframe a shadow was forming, it covered my entire floor. My stuff began to shake and the idea that the creature was in the house had me terrified, it slowly opened the door peering at itself. Right at that moment, the creature that warned me about going outside..."
Stopping for a moment for tension as everyone noticed how Clawdeen slowly turn her back on everyone. From Clawdeen having her mouth feeling dry from listening to Heath not even igniting in fire, Tusk chewing on his nails, and Frankie showing electricity threw their bolts. Each monster and Kaiju leaned in close to see what Clawdeen would say next.
"Was my dad!"
Turning back fast with a roar and Clawdeen became human which made everyone scream in fear at the sudden transformation. Each of them had a different reaction from the jump scare to Draculaura turning into a bat out of instinct to Abbey freezing Heath's meal that he was eating. Laughing at how she got them to scream Clawdeen turned back into a werewolf due to how hilarious it was.
"So, what happened next?"
Rhodey asked as he was hiding behind the couch curious about what the monster did. Junior noticed how the fire Kaiju seemed confused to which it seemed he would have to explain the meaning of the story.
"Her dad was keeping an eye out for her just in case anyone saw her. That might have been what happened, is that the lesson or something cheesy?"
He asked Clawdeen to see if she was trying to explain that it's sometimes important to listen to parents just in case anything like that happens. The wolf girl nods to the king seeing that he was correct about the moral of the story, with that in notion and Draculaura changing back into her normal form. Her phone began to ring showing that the next part should give everyone a much more relaxed feeling.
"Ok then creeps, time for the moment you've been waiting for. Gifts exchanging."
Announcing to the group had them all excited since most of the monsters and Kaiju took an hour of the day to find them the right types of gifts to exchange with one another. Rushing over to the coffin that Junior brought the group had numerous types of gifts they were sharing. Lagoona had several wrapped in plastic wrapped as it was Nightmore meals that she made for just the occasion.
"I hope you all enjoy it, it's fried Yojoa fish. A favorite back home and quite tasty with the right toppings."
Smiling at everyone's expressions of the meal which looked delicious, it seemed everyone was handing out different types of presents. Abbey looked over to Tusk whispering to his ear as his gift was small jars of mayonnaise for everyone since he considered them friends and proven that they could be trusted with his favorite snack. Nodding to her he rushed right towards a small fridge that the yeti ghoul brought with them several snowballs with skull symbols representing each of them.
"It's cute."
Frankie admired how their skull had a stitch plus two bolts like theirs and the snowball was perfectly frozen meaning it wouldn't melt. Heath tried out his snowball on Rhodey as the Kaiju's fire wasn't even melting his, enjoying the snowball gifts to their extent. Junior took a moment to look at his which was the scales that resided at the top of the skull.
"Did everyone hand out their gifts?"
Draculaura asked the group as it seem everyone had handed unique gifts during the moment. Junior on the side felt rather uncertain about his gift since it was for just this night, and he raised his hand feeling embarrassed for how he was acting.
"I, have one. It's more of a song but since we're all getting 'soft and warm'. It would be appropriate."
Trying his best to not act shy as it made his friends smile at how he was trying to open up to the crowd. Pulling out his guitar and taking a moment to breathe in, everyone got curious about how he would share his 'gift' with the group. Concentrating on what he was going to do, Junior merely allowed the emotion that was in the room to guide him.
"Hello, darkness my old friend. I've come to talk with you again, because a vision softly creeping. Left its seeds while I was sleeping."
Starting slowly his song as the monsters and Kaiju's got comfortable with one another listening to the king's song. Watching how his fingers played on the strings, he was going soft as possible for the holiday.
"And the vision that was planted in my brain still remains. Within the sound, of silence."
Telling them all as he felt his scales glowing at the moment as he looked at the fireplace where blew his fire breath. The light quickly changed from an ordinary fire to a light blue flame, having set the mood it made the group comfortable with Junior's singing.
"In restless dreams I walked alone. Narrow streets of cobblestone, Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp. When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, that split the night."
His voice became soft as well each chord being pulled gently as if it was a lullaby, with how relaxed they felt while listening to the Kaiju's song. Their eyes have begun to grow heavy as well try to stay awake to listen to the lizard's song, however it seemed like Junior wanted them to relax.
"And touched the sound of silence."
Stating to them about the moment they were all feeling involving silence and how they should enjoy the moment he was sharing with them. Everyone slowly began to feel the effect of his song from Heath's fire on top of his hair began to dim itself and Titan curled himself like an animal enjoying the soothing music. Frankie felt the same feeling as electricity was coming off their bolts affecting the lights which made them glow faintly. Noticing how the ghoul was helping him out, Junior continued his song.
"And in the naked light I saw. Ten thousand people maybe more, people talking without speaking. People hear without listening. People writing songs that voices never shared, and no one dared. Disturb the sound, of silence."
Continued the rhythm as each of them kept close while finding a proper pose to get comfortable as they were drifting off to sleep. The only ones that seemed to be awake as Draculaura and Clawdeen who were experts at staying up at night, however with how much entertainment they had done and the feeling of the song. They wanted to enjoy the song.
"Fools said I, "You do not know, Silence like a fear grows. Hear my words that I might teach you. Take my arms that I might reach you"."
With his song continuing Junior felt a strong emotion flowing through him of how most nights when he felt alone, the only companion he had was the darkness whenever he found a spot to sleep. Now it was different since he had both monster and Kaiju friends around him enjoying his music.
"But my words, like silent raindrops fell. And echoed in the wells of silence."
As the two ghouls listened to his song Draculaura noticed how most of her friends had easily fallen asleep. Using a quick spell she had a door open up bringing out several comforters that her dad used to use whenever he slept in his coffin. Placing each of them around them, she accidentally let one drop on Tusk who was snoring from Junior's singing.
"And the people bowed and prayed. To the neon god they made, and the sign flashed out its warning. In the words that it was forming."
Looking over his friends he noticed Draculaura doing her best to listen, however, Clawdeen helped her over to a spare coffin that seemed to be a gift left by Dracula. The wolf girl helped her friend up as the vampire girl looked over at Junior smiling at him for the gift they gave them. Nothing too glamorous like her gift to Clawdeen and Frankie was custom made shoes and Clawdeen's creative self portraits to everyone, it was unique because it was for them.
"Then the sign said, "The words on the prophets are written on the subway walls. In tenement halls.". And whispered in the sound."
Feeling himself finishing at the right moment and looking to Clawdeen who tried to keep her eyes open since she wanted to hear the end. Junior stopped playing his guitar and walked over to take her to the couch where he smiled at how it had seemed they made themselves adjusted to the party despite it being their first experience.
"Of silence."
Finished the song as Junior saw her and everyone else fell asleep with a smile on their faces, it was strange to see how he made them relax with his singing since most of the time it was either aggressive or loud. Seeing how things seemed settled he was about to clean everything up from the empty plates and wrappings that were used during the gift exchange. Though the Kaiju felt a strange breeze of air passing by and a sound coming from the door which changed his attitude to the defensive. Baring his teeth and preparing for whatever type of Kaiju might have followed him here to the mountains, he opened it quickly about to frighten whoever was at the door. He saw nothing, only a bright night sky with the stars being visible and a small present on the ground with a name tag that was directed to him. There was a letter connected to the box Junior decided to read it.
"Although this is a night of friendship and comfort to fellow monsters and Kaiju, this is our gift to you. For when we usurp you."
Reading the letter as he opened the box seeing a peculiar gift from whoever was 'challenging' him. Several bandage rolls and a plushie which was a lizard that resembled him. The gift seemed to be a sign of needing medical aid and comfort from the possible fight he might experience, so he decides to head back inside to relax with the others. Meanwhile from one of the mountain tops was a three headed Kaiju wearing snow clothing keeping the body warm and looking at the vampire mansion.
"I told you brothers, it's good to give him a gift before the fight. Make it much more friendly right?"
The left head announced as it was Kevin, the dragon like Kaiju who was a part of the same body that was named Ghidorah. The two heads said nothing as they extended their wings out before making their departure back to the school in honor of Nightmore with no type of aggression, however, the next day would be different. Yet tonight would be a night of peace for both monsters and Kaiju.
"The song used for the chapter was 'Sound of Silence' by Disturbed. All rights of the song belong to the writers and musicians behind it. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. There are several more chapters I'll work on for the story, and then wait for the show to share new episodes, anyway hope you all have an incredible holiday with friends and loved ones."
