Inside the the Aquabase. The Rangers are packing. "So, what did your family say?" Dana was asking.

"'What are you crazy? Everyone said that to me." Kelsey answered. "Since I was a kid. I always answer, you have no idea, I mean, it's such a rush hanging up a thousand feet up a cliff."

"If that happens, I'd rather have a big trampoline under me." Hayden replied.

"Well, check this out." Joel said, patting her on the back. "When I was 8, all I wanted more then anything was just to fly like a bird. So I built me a set of wings and jumped out of my second floor window."

"That's just crazy." Carter said.

"Yeah."

"That's stupid."

"And you Hayden?" Chad asked as they left the room.

"Not sure yet." She shrugged as they round a corner.

"How about you, Carter?" Dana asked, looking at him. "Did you always wanna be a fireman?"

"No, not really." He answered. "Well, not until one night. When I, uh." He trailed off as a flashback came to him.

"When what?" Chad asked.

"Uh, nothing." Carter quickly said.

"Nothing?" Dana asked.

"Tell us." Joel wanted on to know.

Carter moved quickly. "Come on!"

"You can't do that!" Joel complained, giving chase.

"Man, if I was your age sis, I would be trying to snag Carter up." Hayden grins, looking up at Dana.

"Quiet you!" Dana grabs her shoulder, turned her around and shoved her forward. "I don't like him that way."

"You're the one with the crush."

"No, you're the one with the crush!"

"You're blushing sis. And if I was your guys age, I would snatch him before you, Dana Mitchell would have any chance with Carter Grayson."

"Well, luckily you're still just a freshmen in high school." Dana retorted.

"And about to be a sophomore when school comes back in the fall." Hayden grins. "Better watch out."

"You!"

Hayden squeaked. "Daaaaaaad!" She cried, taking off in a dead run, Dana hot on her heels. Kelsey and Chad laughed.

"I definitely like her." Chad said laughing.

"Me too." Kelsey nods.

Inside the Training Room, the six Rangers stood at attention. Hayden and Dana stood on both sides of Carter.

"Attention! Present arms!" Carter shouted, and they do so. Captain Mitchell took out a stopwatch.

"Ready? Go!" Mitchell called, causing the team to run.

Chad jumps over a wall first with Joel following close behind. Both boys run under the ropes and running over the tires, passing Captain Mitchell. "Done!" They called in union and Mitchell clicks the stopwatch.

"1:30. Good." Mitchell said, walking away.

Kelsey carries a baby doll as she runs towards an edge of the balcony. Hooking herself up, she grapples down the side of a building with the baby doll. "Come on, Dana, let's go!" Kelsey said as Dana runs towards her with a first aid kit, Dana then practices CPR on the doll.

"Done!" The girls said in union, and Mitchell stops the stopwatch.

"2:00. Not bad."

Hayden sat in a chair in front of a verity of computers, typing as fast as she knew how, once she got to her last program, she turns to her father. "Done!" She said, making him stop the watch.

"1:14. A minute slow."

Hayden sighed heavily as she leaned back in her chair and rubbing her head. "One minute?" She complained, folding her arms. "I'm not gonna make it to the FBI with that result."

Carter was inside a building with a paintball gun and he shoots a target, hitting the torso. Carter turns around sees another target, taking another shot before running out. "Done!"

Captain Mitchell clicks the watch. "52 seconds."

"Yes!"

"Way to go Carter!" Hayden hugged him, and he returned the hug.

"Best time so far, huh?" He asked his friends. Captain Mitchell goes over to survey Carter's work, then walks out of the building.

"Carter!" Mitchell called, motioning for him to come over. The red Ranger walked over to him.

"Yes, sir?"

You may have had the fastest time, but you got the lowest score."

"The lowest?" Carter asked confused. "I - I don't understand."

"You have to take time to use this before you ever use a blaster." The Captain tells him.

"But sir, I hit every target." Carter said, still confused.

"Which means nothing." Mitchell said sternly. "You didn't think the situation through. Sometimes the obvious choice is the wrong choice." He walked away, leaving Carter standing there. "Alright, breakdown your gear. Let's get back to the Aquabase."

The others looked concerned at Carter.

A hour later, the alarm is going off. Captain Mitchell goes and checks the seismic reading. "That's no Earthquake. Go to alert status."

"Rangers to transport bay."

"Ready to roll, guys?" Chad asks.

"Always, but when am I gonna get to drive this thing?" Joel asked.

"You're not red Ranger." Hayden grinned as she strapped herself in beside him in the backseat.

Out in the city, Batlings were hard at work. "Faster!" Vypra shouted, pointing her sword at them. "I'll destroy Mariner Bay with an Earthquake."

"Not if we can help it!" Carter yelled, causing Vypra to look up.

"Well, well. If it isn't the Rangers Rangers." She said. "I am Vypra. I'm glad we finally met. So I can destroy you. Batlings, attack!"

The Batlings followed her orders, rushing towards the Rangers. "Don't mess with the cowboy!" Joel exclaimed as he battled a Batting. Vypra jumps down and attacks Carter, who knocks her sword out of her hand, she knocks him back and grabs her sword before running off. Once she was up in the parking level, people screamed and ran off.

"Get out of my way!" Vypra demanded, the citizens screamed as she sent green energy towards them through her sword.

"Stop!" Hayden yells, deflecting a blast and it hit a building.

"Oh, lookie here." Vypra said with a sneer. "A child, playing hero."

"I am not a child!" Hayden yelled, getting angry. It was bad enough that her P.E. couch at school calls her that.

"Oh really." Vypra smirked, energizing her sword again. "You're, what? 8?" She laughed.

"I'm a teenager!" Hayden shouted, charging at Vypra just as Carter arrived. Vypra threw her charged up energy at Hayden, who jumped and dodged out of the way.

"You brat! Hold still!" Vypra demanded, sending blast after blast at her, Hayden did lots of fancy moves to dodge out of the way of the blasts.

"That's enough!" Carter yells, getting in front of Vypra. The two began to fight and Vypra sends green energy through her sword, causing an explosion. Hayden grunts when rubble started to fall, but not enough for it to collapse.

"Put down your weapon." Carter demanded. "Nice and easy." He added as he gets closer. "I said put it down, Vypra."

The wall touches her wings and Vypra looks down to see a barrel of gas nearby, giving her an idea.

"I'm not gonna tell you again." Carter warns.

"Take this!" The blade of Vypra's sword glowed and aims at the trail of gas on the floor. A fire erupted and Vypra disappears through the flames.

"Where'd she go?" Carter asked as the fire crackled and grew. People screamed behind him as the building started to crack and collapse. "The ceiling's coming down. These people are in trouble. They need my help."

"No, put out the fire first." Captain Mitchell orders.

"Negative, sir. There's no time." Carter interrupted. "I have to get these people out of here before it's too late." He looks at the ceiling. "I've gotta help em."

"Just do it."

Suddenly the ceiling started falling. "CARTER!" Hayden screamed, now trapped under some rubble and demorphed.

"Hayden!" Carter ran towards her as the fire gets more intense. "No!" He finally reaches her, falling to his knees next to her, she was unconscious and lying on the ground.

Dana and the others finally reach them. "Hayden!" Dana cried.

"Dana." Carter turns to fully face her. "I - I'm sorry."

Dana pulls her sister close, her helmet hiding her tears.

Later. Hayden laid in a hospital bed, asleep. Carter slowly walked into the room, some fake flowers in hand. He saw the bandage wrapped around Hayden's head and a bruise on her cheek. "I'm so sorry." He stutters with guilt as he walks over to a chair, sitting down he reaches for her hand.

"Carter?"

Carter jumped startled, quickly standing and turning to see Dana standing in the doorway. "Dana, I - I." He stuttered, then trailed off when she walked up to stand right in front of him and he prepared for the slap.

But it never came.

Dana turns to walk on the other side of Hayden's bed. "You made a mistake." The pink Ranger said, sitting down. "Let's just leave it at that."

Carter opened his mouth, but stopped and closed it. "Ok." He sat down.

It was quiet for awhile, both watching Hayden as she slept. Finally, Carter broke it. "I hope she likes fake flowers."

Dana smiled. "She does. She wishes she could smell them." She reaches over to gently brush a lock of Hayden's hair off her forehead.

"Were you two ever close before?"

Dana looked at him, then looked back at her sister. "Like I said, we use to. But after our brother Ryan was killed. It was like, we couldn't be sisters anymore. We argue, have different ideas and interests."

Carter silently nods, looking at Hayden. "If only I could've been like him." He starts." He starts, and Dana looks at him. "I was young. I don't know how it happened, but the place was on fire." He spoke as the memory came to him. "And it was so hot. I couldn't breath. I was scared: I didn't know what to do. But suddenly, he was there. Thanks to him, I made it out just in time. He saved my life. I never knew his name. But ever since that day, all I've wanted was to be just like him. He would made sure Hayden was safe."

Dana reached across her sister's bed, gently taking Carter's hand. "You're a good man Carter. You're a great Firefighter too." She tried to reassure.

He looks at her hand. "I'll never be that good."

Later, Carter goes back to the training building, looking around. Just when he goes to the next section, he bumps into some kind of tank. "Explosive?" He asked himself, reading the label and looks overt the other tanks. Carter runs out of the building and over to the parking garage. Grabbing the blanket he yanks it off to see more barrels with the same label. "Gasoline?" He ran a hand through his hair. "If I hadn't put out the fire first, the whole place would have exploded. Everyone would have been hurt."

"It isn't easy being the leader." Captain Mitchell said, walking over to him. "You learn through tough lessons every single day."

"Captain." Carter turns to him. "I'm, I'm so sorry. Hayden."-

"Will be fine. She's a fighter."

"I - I'm not sure I'm cut out to be a Ranger."

"I am." Captain Mitchell said. "I'm more sure now then ever."

XxXxXxXxXxXx

Later, after the monster was destroyed. Carter returns to the hospital, finding Hayden sitting up in her bed, reading a book. She looked up when he bumped into the small table. "Carter!" She smiles, putting a bookmark in her book and closing it.

"I - I'm so sorry. I never meant for you, for anyone to get hurt."

"Don't put all the blame on yourself, half of it was my fault too." She frowned at him.

"Your fault?" He asked, sitting in the chair was in earlier. "How? I'm the one who questioned on." He trailed off when she held up a hand to stop him.

"I wanted to be fancy and try some new gymnastic moves I was learning, and before I knew what happened, I let myself get taken down by some rubble."

He nodded. "Well, looks like we both learned a lesson today."

"We sure did."
