It had been almost three weeks since Obito left Madara and that cave. After saving Kakashi and Rin he went back to the cave to leave Madara a small note and completely seal off the cave, even the Zetsu wouldn't be able leave. And now, he had no idea what he was going to do. Since he wasn't being manipulated by Madara and there was no way he was heading back to Konoha, he felt pretty weird.
As he sat down on cliff edge, watching the sunset, he went over some things that had happened in the past few weeks.
First he had cut his kami-awful long hair and got some new clothes which consisted of black ninja pants with bandages wrapped around his ankles, black sandals, a high-neck black shirt that reminded himself of his old one, and a black cloak that reminded himself of the Akatsuki. After he stopped looking like and idiot, he experimented with his new abilities in the Kamui dimension. He found out that after countless hours of messing around with various jutsu, he hardly felt exhausted at all.
Once he was done testing his newfound strength, he hid every track that he left behind. He knew that either Rin or Kakashi, or both for that matter, would tell Minato that he was alive and for some reason refused to head back to the village. Then this would escalate to them trying to find him. It would've been way easier if they didn't recognize him, or just passed out earlier on. He felt bad for doing this to them, but he could hardly look Rin in the eyes and he didn't even kill her! How would he be able to face Minato again?
Obito, after hiding all traces of himself, started spying. Since the Third Great Ninja War had recently ended, all lands were in a state of distress which made it easy to figure what was going on between lands. It had mostly been done out of pure curiosity of what caused people to rival against one another. It escalated to him finding out top secret information. Obito then started to use spying as an advantage for himself. In his Kamui dimension, he had multiple scrolls and books where he'd write this information and collect the dots between conflicts.
After a couple weeks of doing that, he was now here. Wondering what to do with himself. Spying certainly had been fun and beneficial, but really only to himself. So, he just sat there with the remaining sunlight shining on his face, until a paper blew right past him. He caught it and looked at it.
"Hm, I guess my question has been answered."
Namikaze Minato paced around the hokage office. Apparently his 'dead' student was alive and he saved Kakashi and Rin's lives. At first he didn't believe it when Rin had told him so when she woke up in the hospital, but a Yamanaka checked her memories, and sure enough, it was true. Obito was alive and... well? That wasn't even the most surprising part though, as the Yamanaka nurse showed Minato, Rin's memories, he saw Kakashi's arm go right through his heart and somehow he was fine. His body had just started healing itself. Another surprise was how well Obito's fighting was. Another even bigger surprise was when he outright refused to step back into Konoha, saying "I can't go back with the things I've done." It confused Minato greatly. He sent out multiple ANBU to locate him, but none of them could do so. There wasn't a trace of him left. All they could find were the Kirikagure's ANBU's rotting corpses that Obito has massacred.
He was extremely frustrated that he was unable to locate a kid. A fourteen- almost fifteen- year old boy. Not only was he a boy, but he was Obito Uchiha! He should have almost no skill in converting his tracks like this!
Minato plopped down at his desk and put his head in his hands. He couldn't help by feel that this was all somehow his fault. He wasn't there when Obito was crushed by that boulder, and he wasn't there with Kakashi and Rin either when Obito came back around.
He was about to go out of his office to cool down when a bird came with a message, it was a raven.
Obito looked at the paper he had caught. It was a page that was torn out of the bingo book. It was for a dangerous woman named Satsuki. Apparently she had no surname that was known. Obito smiled to himself, this could be his new something to do. Bounty hunting. As he stood up he decided that he was going to make a name for himself among all the bounty hunters. After all, he always wanted to be noticed didn't he? So why not do it for the good of humanity this time around.
He folded up the page and used Kamui to the forest where Satsuki was last seen.
