Greetings! I recently felt a drive to write a story that was rated 18+ from start to finish. I mean, I've written some scenes with that kind of content before, but never something on that scale, or on a higher level. When I watched Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid a few months ago, however, the idea finally hit me. I knew I could do something with it, and this is the result: Valkyrie Drive: Raijin.

Enjoy!

Drive 1: Making the FIRST MOVE

Negi Springfield couldn't tell if this was the worst travesty of his life or the worst timing in all wizard history.

One minute he was bidding good day to his students, and the next, barely out the door of his own classroom, he was confronted by an unidentified group of men in suits instructing him to "come with them." Naturally, he did his best to reason with them and when that failed, defend himself from a situation that thoroughly resembled a kidnapping in the making. His martial arts were, after all, the stuff of legend around Mahora Academy.

What he did not expect was, being injected with something that made him black out whilst removing his glasses, only for him to wake up a short time later inside a rocket-like pod that was speeding along the surface of the ocean. Which ocean, he could only guess. How long he had been in there, he knew not.

This is bad. This is really, really bad, he thought as he looked around as best he could. "Okay, calm down, Negi. Do not panic. Remember what Takamichi taught you years ago. First, make sure you take note of everything you have in your possession, as well as what you don't. That way, you know what resources to prioritize." With what limited room he had inside the pod, he reached behind his back. To his surprise, his fingers coiled around the staff that once belonged to his father, Nagi. Yes! My staff is still here. Guess those suits didn't think to take it away. Good thing, too. Next, he checked his hip, where he kept a utility pouch fastened to his belt, just in case of emergencies. And my pouch is still here too. That means I have all the tools I need. "But this pod is so cramped I can hardly move at all. I can't force my way out if I can't lift my arms. I have no leverage." Guess I have no choice but to bide my time and wait and see where I end up. I can always fly out of there when I get there.

"Commandeur!" a young woman called from her computer terminal in a dimly lit command center. "Incoming transfer!"

"Put it on the main screen," her commanding officer instructed. She had short dark hair and wore a white militaristic uniform with black and gold epaulettes, gold lining and buttons; dark stockings; black kitten heel shoes with white knee-high socks; and stylish red-rimmed glasses. "What direction is she coming from?"

"North by Northwest, ma'am," the woman said, checking her instruments. "Impacting with the barrier in 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 …"

"What's that?!" Negi barely had time to say before the pod impacted on some kind of invisible wall and began to peel away. He could only watch as the solid black steel around him twisted and contorted like it was aluminum foil, leaving him completely exposed and ejecting him over an island.

Wasting no time, he reached out his hand. Mea virga! His staff sped into his outstretched hand. Putting it under him, he mounted it, managing to stop his descent just in time for him to touch down softly on the white, sandy beach. Looking back over the water, he saw the barrier shimmer out of view, the remnants of his pod all scrunched up, floating on the water. "I see … a barrier," he whispered. "Shit," he cursed under his breath. "That will make escape difficult."

"Touchdown is confirmed, Commandeur. Point Three-Zero."

"Good," the officer nodded. "Who are the closest Ritters to her?"

"Miyasato and Kouzuki."

"Have them confront her and test her ability. And don't listen to whatever excuse they give. They have a bad habit of slacking off on guard duty."

"Yes, ma'am!" all the women in the command center sounded off at once.

"Where could this island be?" Negi thought aloud as he looked around, following the shoreline in search of other people. "There's mountains and a jungle … perhaps I should look inland. If there's a settlement, it will likely be beyond that mountain." Besides, as I learned when training under Evangeline, when in unfamiliar territory, aim for the high ground for the best vantage point.

He was about to take to the sky when he heard a sound nearby, like clacking stones. Looking around, he called out, "Is someone there?! Hello!"

"Well, well, well!" said a voice from atop a nearby ridge. "Look what we have here! Do my eyes deceive me? It's a little boy! And a sharply dressed one at that. Do you always dress in a blue suit? And is that a stick on your back? How tacky! Is this the new transfer? How did you end up here, little man?" It was a skinny brunette woman with tanned skin, wearing a blue bikini over a relatively small bosom. Standing beside her was a blonde with fairer skin who was wearing a yellow micro bikini over a pair of much larger breasts.

"Uh … by rocket, I guess," he said, gesturing to the pod that had brought him to the island, which was now sinking below the surf. "Pardon me, but can you ladies tell me where I am? I'm completely lost here."

They both just laughed.

"Well, that's natural, kid," the blonde giggled, clutching her breasts as she rocked back and forth. "This is Mermaid Island, and we're all here for the same reason. So, tell me, big boy: are you a liberator, or an extar, like me?"

"Huh?" Negi said with a blank look on his face. "Am I a what? What's a liberator? I've never even heard of an extar either…"

"It'll be more fun if we just show him," the brunette said and began rubbing the blonde all over from behind, first slowly and then getting more aggressive. First, she stroked her face, then her belly, then her breasts, and after squeezing and rubbing them for a several seconds, began tweaking her nipples. Then, her hands started to go lower, but Negi had long since covered his eyes.

Definitely not comfortable with this, he thought, his face turning beet red just from the sounds reaching his ears. Just where do they think we are? And who do they think I am?!

"Aww, don't cover your eyes now," he could hear one of them saying. "This is the best part. You're going miss the money sho – AHHHHH!" she squealed sensuously, and as Negi peeked through two fingers, he saw a shocking sight. Before his eyes, the blonde girl transformed from a human into what resembled a futuristic three-barreled pole gun/rocket launcher hybrid.

"You get it now, little boy?" the brunette said impatiently.

"Get WHAT?!" Negi shot back. "I don't understand any of this! Please speak plainly!"

"Talk to the gun, boy!" she leveled the gun at him and placed her finger on the trigger.

Not waiting for her to start shooting, Negi dashed to the side just in time to dodge the first volley.

"So fast," the woman whispered as she re-aligned her sights, trying to get a clear shot, but Negi struck first, jumping and dashing from side to side as he drew closer and closer. "Why you!" she tried to swing the gun around when he was too close, but he ducked and aimed a punch at her midriff, which connected to great effect.

The woman was instantly blown back, bouncing on the soft sand and landing on the other side of the ridge, her gun landing right on top of her, knocking her unconscious and ending their skirmish.

Letting a breath out, Negi collected himself. "Honestly, now, what was that about?" he asked himself. "Why did they attack me like that? And what were they saying? 'We are all here for the same reason …' What could that-? Wait! Could that mean that they-? That I-?" No! he shook his head and looked towards the mountain. "I mustn't lose focus. Where there's two people, there must be more, so now I must find whoever else is on this island and get some definitive answers."

He was about to venture into the jungle to press on toward the mountain when he remembered. "I can't just leave them like that." With that, he turned around, jumped to the top of the ridge and looked down. He then saw that the blonde had returned to human form, but without her bikini. Going a bright shade of red, Negi quickly took his handkerchief from his breast pocket and tied it around his face as a blindfold and slowly found his way by touch to where they lay.

Very carefully, he carried them over to the edge of the woods and put them down against a big tree in the shade.

Taking his handkerchief off his face as he turned away, Negi wiped his brow, folded it up and put it back in his pocket. "Phew, that wasn't as easy as I thought it would be." His good deed for the day done, Negi regained his composure and carefully ventured inland.

"Gouverneur Hiragi."

At the call of his name, a young but mature figure with short dark red hair turned his chair to face a well-groomed young woman with long pink hair and a less conservative purple uniform standing before him.

"Yes, Miss Charlotte? What is it?" he asked curtly.

"A new transfer has landed on the island. Two C-Class Ritters were sent to assess her ability, but they were defeated."

"Injuries?" he asked flatly.

"Not serious," Charlotte brushed her pink hair back behind her ear. "Seems this one was either only slightly stronger than them or she held back. However, what I think will interest you is that in the act of defeating them, this new arrival did not use any powers that our instruments could detect."

"Are you saying she somehow magicked them into defeat?" the gouverneur sat up a little bit straighter. "How could a liberator/extar pair be defeated without the use of the Arms power?" he mused, pensively.

"I'm not sure," Charlotte answered, with a carefree smile. "That's why I brought it to your attention."

"So, what shall we do now?" the young man smiled. "Send out someone stronger?"

"No, I have a better idea than that," she grinned arrogantly. "We both know that this is inevitably where she will come, so I will greet her personally and see her power for myself." She turned to leave. "Unless you would like to do it yourself?"

"Hm," Gouverneur Akira Hiragi smiled gently. "I shall leave it in your capable hands, Miss Charlotte. I look forward to seeing you in action."

"Wow!" he said in awe as he looked down from the mountaintop. The mountains actually formed a natural fortress of sorts, and at the center of the formation was an impressive castle. "I wasn't expecting this. With such a grand palace standing there, I wonder who lives here. It is a bit strange though … the only structure for miles is a lone castle. I best be cautious." He took his staff from his back and mounted it once more, gliding down from the mountain and touching down on the far side of a white stone bridge leading to the entrance.

From what he could see from where he stood, the castle structure looked rather modern, and the style of architecture was almost overtly elaborate. This stood in stark contrast to the various castles he had seen, both up close and in history books. It held almost none of the traditional facets of the castles of old. There wasn't even a door or a drawbridge; just an ornate white stone bridge and a wide-open gateway.

"Guess I'll just show myself in. The door is wide open." Before he ventured in, however, he reached into his utility pouch – the insides of which had been magically enhanced for extra storage – and withdrew a small jar of round candies. "Better to go in disguise, I guess," he smiled, as he popped a red one into his mouth and bit down on it. It's a pity I don't have my cloak with me. I won't be able to blend in with a crowd if there's trouble.

"She's here," Commandeur Kasumi Shigure said as Charlotte and her team of extars emerged onto the grand balcony overlooking the entrance to the Veste. As she looked down at the lone figure walking slowly into the courtyard, she could see the person was tall with auburn hair, dressed in a dark blue suit, and carried what looked like a staff wrapped in white cloth on their back. When the reality of what Kasumi was looking at finally sunk in, she couldn't help but gasp. "Wait, that's-!"

"A man?!" Charlotte nearly laughed. "Another man arriving here on Mermaid Island? Is this a joke or a dream come true?" she put her hand to her forehead and tossed her hair back in amusement. I've always wanted a boy toy.

"Miss Charlotte?" Kasumi said with an air of suspicion to her. "What are you-?" But the girl had already stepped forward and was now looking down over the railing.

"So!" she said loudly in a grandiose tone. "The newest transfer to the island of Mermaid is a young man? Tell me, who has the audacity to invade the Veste, home of the Wärter?"

But the young man standing below did not immediately look up at her. Instead, he gazed around the courtyard, as if taking in the scenery. He then turned about once, taking in the massive audience that had gathered on the balconies above to see who would be joining them on the island. All were screaming in delight at the mere sight of him, which seemed almost puzzling to him.

This was one of the things Charlotte hated most: being ignored.

"Don't pretend you did not hear me, boy!" she shouted, not even bothering to hide the frustration in her voice. "I demand you tell me who you are!"

Finally, the man looked up at Charlotte, nearly bringing an arrogant smile to her face, but her satisfaction was short-lived. "I beg your pardon, Miss, but is it not proper manners to introduce oneself before demanding the name of another?" he spoke at last.

There was a brief silence, as if all were in disbelief, followed by the sound of rampant whispering from every girl in attendance.

"SILENCE!" Charlotte declared, causing everyone to go silent at once. "Who are you to talk about manners?! You walk into our home and demand that I, Charlotte Scherzen, identify myself to you?! THE VERY NERVE!"

"Ah, I see," the man said, folding his arms across his chest. "So, you're Miss Charlotte Scherzen. That's a pretty name," he smiled, causing her to blush.

"D-d-don't try to flatter me now, you!" she shouted, now visibly flustered. "I've told you my name, so you got what you wanted. Now identify yourself before I give the order to kill you!"

"Now, now. No need for so much hostility," he held his hands up, as if trying to calm her down. That certainly escalated quickly. "My name is Negi. Negi Springfield. Before I was sent here to this island, I was a school teacher in Japan. Upon my arrival, I tried to ask the two ladies I met on the beach where we are, but they refused to answer. Instead, they tried to kill me. You seem to be a figure of high regard here, so perhaps you could enlighten me?" As for "invading" your castle, there were no closed doors, so "invade" is the last term I would use, he thought matter-of-factly.

Charlotte stuck out her chest upon hearing his compliment, her breasts bouncing noticeably, making it evident that she was not in the business of wearing a bra, then looked down at him again. "It's funny you should mention them. You managed to defeat two of our Ritters, albeit two of our weaker Ritters, in no time flat just after arriving on the island. I confess myself curious as to how you did it, so if you want answers, then I'm going to have you show me all your secrets first, little man!" I was planning to send out an A-Class pair, but given it's a man, I just can't help myself!

"EXTARS, TO ME!" At her command, four young women gathered around her, and all at once, began to crowd her with a very amorous air to them. Not showing an ounce of hesitation, Charlotte began to snog the closest girl, then angled her knee to lightly massage the crotch of another and began to fondle her breasts with one hand, thrusting her other hand into the third girl's uniform, and placing her remaining foot on the rear end of a fourth who had exposed her bottom to her.

Dumbfounded by the blatant show of perverseness unfolding before him, Negi put his head in his hand and shook his head slowly. "Bloody hell, I can't believe this. Is everyone on this island a sexual deviant?" he said under his breath, until his attention was drawn by a bright flash of pink light. When he took his hand away from his face, he saw that Charlotte's attendants had vanished and she was now adorned in what looked like an array of wearable weapons, including what appeared to be a lightweight metallic rigging on each shoulder with retractable pink energy wings, almost like a butterfly.

"Well, what do you think? Are you impressed by what you see?" Charlotte boasted as she floated down from the balcony to land ten meters from where Negi stood.

"I don't even know what I should be seeing," he stated, now becoming the slightest bit impatient. "All I perceive is a sexual deviant, a thoroughly perverted young woman brandishing some fancy toys. In fact, that is all I have been forced to bear witness to since I arrived here. If you must attack me for intruding as I have, then I wish you would do it on your own … or are you saying you're afraid of fighting 1-on-1?"

The second-in-command of the Wärter looked like she was about to explode with rage. "A sexual deviant … fancy toys? HOW DARE YOU INSULT ME?!" she shrieked as she flew straight at him, long and sharp claws extending from her fingertips and slashing at his face. "I'll kill you!" But her attack never struck home.

Before Charlotte could complete her swing, Negi grabbed her wrist with his left hand, and without missing a beat, he adjusted his grip, grabbed her left wrist with his right, whirled her around, and let go, sending her careening towards the wall. Using the power of her Arm, Charlotte stopped her momentum and pushed off the wall with a burst of speed.

As she reached him she abruptly stopped her dash and aimed a high kick at his chin, but Negi saw it coming and stepped back half-a-step with a "Whoops." Gritting her teeth, she brought her foot down toward his head, but Negi he bent his knees slightly and threw one forearm up to stop her foot cold. In the same move, he proceeded to grab Charlotte's ankle with his other hand and repeated his previous action, only this time, Negi hurled her straight up into the open air. Stepping back, he turned his body, lowered his stance, and pulled one leg back, as if winding up for a kick, but then changed his mind and simply stood back and waited for her to regain her posture and touch back down again.

How did he do that? "Was that martial arts?" she seethed. "Is that what you used to defeat those two weaklings before?"

"Martial arts? No. Simple self-defense techniques. Even a child could have done that much," he said. Straightening up and dusting off the shoulders of his suit, Negi looked her in the eye quite calmly. "I am a gentleman. I would prefer not to fight if I can avoid it, but if you insist on attacking me instead of using your words, I will defend myself." At these words, he gripped his staff with his right hand, prepared to pull it from his back, and lowered his stance again. As if by their own accord, the white wrappings on one end of his staff unwound themselves the moment he grabbed it, revealing the carved wooden tip underneath.

"However, before I do, I should state quite plainly: the fact that you attacked me with such ferocity in response to my honest assessment is a clear indication that not only are you uncomfortable fighting one-on-one, but prefer an unfair advantage. Quite unsporting of you, and rather cowardly, in my opinion. Additionally, it betrays a certain sense of impotence in the absence of such advantages, as well as a lack of faith in one's own abilities. Furthermore, you call others weak, yet you've given me no reason to see you as any semblance of the word 'strong.' Pure arrogance, in a nutshell. Thus, you're the last person who has any right to call anyone weak."

Charlotte nearly bit through her lip in anger. "You've insulted me for the last time! COME HERE!" she charged again.

"That's enough!"

At the sound of the new voice, Charlotte stopped short, looking up towards the balcony, her claws only inches from Negi's face.

Where Charlotte herself had been standing mere minutes before, now stood a dashing young man with dark red hair and fair skin, wearing a most distinguished-looking white dress uniform.

"I have seen quite enough, Miss Charlotte," the man spoke in an even voice. "When you said you would greet our new transfer yourself, I did not realize you had such … violent intentions."

"Don't interfere with me!" she protested. "This man has given public insult to me and effectively to all of the Wärter. I am perfectly within my rights to punish him for his hubris."

"That is only because he is not yet aware of the way things work here on Mermaid Island," the man leapt down from the balcony and landed in a kneeling position. "I am certain that he will change his mind once he adequately understands why things are as they are," he said confidently as he stood up straight and approached.

"Furthermore," he stopped briefly and turned to her. "A leader of any governing body or military unit should always remain calm, resolute, and dignified. Allowing yourself to be consumed by anger and fighting with such malice in your eyes in response in insincere, cheap taunts is unbecoming of someone in your position, Miss Charlotte." Charlotte's eyes widened at his words and she grit her teeth. He turned back to face Negi.

"Please forgive my intrusion. It is a great pleasure to meet you, sir. I believe you said your name was Negi, am I correct?" he extended his hand in greeting. "I am Akira Hiragi, gouverneur of the Veste and leader of the Wärter here on Mermaid Island, and until today, the only man to ever be sent here."

Scrutinizing this new face briefly with his gaze, Negi smiled politely, shaking Akira's hand graciously. "The pleasure is all mine, sir. Listening to you speak just now suggests that you might be a fellow spirit, who prefers diplomacy over aggression. I have nothing but appreciation for such an individual." Charlotte silently gritted her teeth.

"It pleases me greatly to hear you say that," Akira smiled warmly. "Kasumi!" he called to his subordinate above, without turning.

"Sir!" Kasumi saluted.

"Please escort young Negi to my office, and explain everything to him. I believe he could be a great ally to the Wärter, and to all of us here at the Veste. I will join you there shortly."

"Yes, of course," Kasumi said briskly. "If you would follow me, Mr. Springfield?"

"Of course," Negi nodded. He turned to Charlotte and bowed politely. "I apologize for my rudeness before. I only wish to make peace, not war."

"Hmph!" She only turned on her heel to walk briskly off the courtyard toward her personal chambers, her long pink hair lightly brushing Negi's face. Negi's nose began to twitch.

Oh no! he thought. Not that. Not now! Before the inevitable could occur, he crouched down and leaped high into the sky, soaring above the tallest tower of the Veste.

"What the-?" Charlotte gasped from down on the ground, squinting to see through the glare of the sun from behind Negi's airborne body.

"AH-CHOOOOO!" Negi sneezed with tremendous force. Even from his great altitude, the resulting tempest swept across the grounds of the Veste, blowing up the skirts of all the girls within its reach.

Akira was wide-eyed as he looked around, taking in everything with one glance. What is this wind? Did he cause it with a mere sneeze? Amazing!

By the time Negi touched back down, the winds had subsided. "Gouvernor, ladies, I beg your pardon," he said, dabbing his nose with his handkerchief.

"What was that wind just now?" Kasumi demanded, having jumped down to the courtyard below. "Was that your doing?"

Negi looked down and closed his eyes. "I wish I could say it wasn't, but whenever I sneeze, it seems to conjure a rather violent maelstrom, as you've just seen. However, I'm grateful I managed to avert a disaster this time. I hope you can forgive me."

"I don't see why not," Akira said calmly. Though I wonder what kind of disaster we'd have bore witness to, had he been down here on the ground. "No harm has been done, so I will overlook it. That was certainly an impressive jump. You must be very strong for someone your age."

Negi blushed and chuckled. "Thank you," he scratched the back of his head. "I've been in many situations that required me to defend my students from danger, so I have trained every day to stay in shape.

"Well then, Miss Kasumi, I believe we were going inside?"

"Oh, uh, yes," Kasumi started, but quickly regained her composure.

As his commandeur turned and led Negi inside the castle, Akira continued to stare at the young man's back.

"I know that look all too well," Charlotte interrupted his contemplation. "You see something in him?"

"I do," Akira closed his eyes pensively. "That man may very well have power beyond that which comes with the Armed Virus. Whatever it is, I find it vexing, yet intriguing. However, one thing is clear to me: if we are to return home, we need more people like him on our side, so please do your best to get along with him, Miss Charlotte." With that said, he turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Charlotte standing there, trembling with anger. "It is as I have said before," he finished as he disappeared into the darkness, "the only way for us to return home in our lifetimes is to prove that we are not dangerous and can co-exist peacefully without the need for violence." And I believe that man may be a part of the solution to our isolation.

Nobody humiliates me and gets away with it, Charlotte thought with pure malice. I WILL break that boy for this. I will NEVER accept him as one of us.

Phew. Hope you all enjoyed that, the first chapter of this story. This is the first time I've written a fic utilizing an anime property as explicit as Valkyrie Drive, but I think I managed to make this initial chapter believable, given who we're dealing with here.

That said, Negi HAS been sent to a place where it is inevitable that he will be subjected to things he really isn't prepared for, so you can expect things to get intense, especially for him, at some point. This chapter may have been on the tamer side, but there will be parts where I'll be able to use more ... suggestive terms that I've learned.

I'll be updating later this week, and we'll get a sneak peek at Negi's driving technique! Look forward to it!
