After getting all of the identity proofs for Loona, they returned to the family property. Tobias went to fill up the water garden jug to water the vegetables located behind the house. While Liam took Loona towards the sheep rangeland.
Closing the gate behind them, Liam explained to Loona: "'Kay. So, Loona, for the jobs that you gonna do when you are not doing any spy work..."
Pointing toward a herd of 15 sheep, Liam continued: "You will be shepherding the sheep. Your roles as a shepherdess include keeping the herd intact, nursing the lambs, protecting them from predators like Black Bears, Coyotes, and Foxes, and guiding them to areas..."
Pointing toward the shearing shed in the distance, Liam continued: "where shearing is done on the herd. And when they stray or get attacked..." Picking up the Shepherd's Crook and having Loona hold it, Liam continued: "Use this to manage or catch the sheep or to defend them against attacks by predators."
Loona was feeling a bit sweating and irritated from the withdrawal symptoms but nonetheless did her minimal best to pay attention.
"Oh, and the last thing for shepherding is..." Pointing towards the barn, Liam continued: "When the herd is hungry, bring the hay from the barn and leave it for them to consume. For the other job..."
Liam then lead Loona out of the sheep rangeland and took her to the vegetable garden behind the house. As they approach the area, Loona saw two tombstones in the distance. "Who's buried there, Mr. Garica?" Loona asked as she almost barfed but managed to avoid vomiting. Liam was silent in response.
Arriving at the vegetable garden, Tobias was there, watering the vegetables such as carrots, beans, Armenian Cucumber, corn, and Peanuts.
"This job is just watering the vegetables in the afternoon. Tobias will be watering them in the morning, and you will do the same in the afternoon. And, along with me and Tobias, you will help to pick the vegetables, place them into the pickup truck and drive them to Flagstaff to sell them to a local grocery store. Can you drive?"
Loona shook her head in response. "No. I don't have a driver's license."
"Uh, that's 'kay, I can drive and Tobias here can also drive. Anyway, also, occasionally, you will make or assist to make lunch and/or dinner. That's all the jobs you will be doing."
Turning to Tobias, he said to him: "Ready to pick up the corn and beans and bring them to the pickup truck."
Tobias nodded his head in response as Liam shugged Tobias' hair in a fatherly way.
Loona turns to enter the pickup truck when Liam touches her shoulder. Loona flexed in response.
"Where do you think you're going, Loona?" Liam calmly inquired to Loona.
"To the pickup truck. Why?" Loona irritatedly replied.
"Well, actually, I also want you to help us to pick up and bring the vegetables to the pickup truck. Now, come on. Chop, chop."
Loona was annoyed by that but reluctantly came over to help.
Almost 3 hours later
As they enter Flagstaff, a phone call was heard on Liam's iPhone, so he asked Tobias: "Hey, can you please answer the call, Tobias?" Tobias nodded and answered the call.
"Hello?" a male-sounding voice asked. "Mr. Garica, are you here?"
"Yes, we are here, Steve. What's going on?" Liam inquired.
"Nothing else. Just calling to inform you that the anonymous informant came into contact with me on Instagram under the name, 'C. H.' they said that they have more information about the hired assassin. They will meet at P62 NAU Campus Parking Lot. When they arrive, the code will be 'Jelly.' I also send the photo of the assassin that you and Bill took to the anonymous informant, so that person knows who to look for. That's about it."
"Great. Thank you, Steve. And how have you been coping with Geri's death?" Liam empathetically asked.
It was silent for a while before Steve tearfully replied: "Hard. It has been so hard without him. He had been such a wonderful partner to me and also to you, especially when it comes to assisting with the birthing of your children. Just before he was suddenly murdered, I ... I was gonna propose to him. I felt that it was time to make it permanent. Now he's gone, I wish that I took the opportunity a long time ago instead of questioning my feelings."
At that, Liam, feeling sorry for Steve, replied with sympathy: "I am sorry about that. And don't worry, we will ensure that Geri has been justly avenged. I swear."
"Thank you, Mr. Garica. Well, I have to go now. Take care and be safe." Then the phone call ended.
Arriving at the grocery store called, 'Miller and Sons Grocery," Loona, Liam, and Tobias, in their human disguises obviously, exited out of the pickup truck and bought the fresh products.
A middle-aged overweight man of Mexican descent came out. "Ah, haha. We meet again, Mr. Garica." The man shook Liam's hand.
"Yes, we have again, Mr. Miller," Liam replied formally to Mr. Miller.
Looking at what they have, Mr. Miller commented: "Ah, got fresh products to sell to us again, eh?"
"Yep." Liam responded.
Mr. Miller then look at Loona over the shoulder and inquired: "And who's this fine lady there, next to your *cough* hijo retrasado?"
Taking a deep breath, Liam calmly explained: "This lady over there, her name is Lucy. Lucy Nelson. She was having some issues, so we offered to our family friend to have her here with us and help her. That's all."
"And how are you, Tobias?" Mr. Miller asked. Tobias remained silent and avoided eye contact with him. Before Liam could remind Tobias of expected social behavior, Tobias flatly replied: "Fine."
"Ah, that's good to hear, necesidades especiales young man." Mr. Miller jolly said. "Well, bring them in then."
So they start to bring them into the grocery store. As they place the last products in there, a young Mexican man, along with a couple of peers, consisting of a white Evangelical-looking young man, an African young man, and a native american woman, came up to Tobias.
"Well, well. Been a while since we last met, eh Too-Too Bias? Was that in Fredonia High School when you drop out in the middle of Year 10?" the Mexican asked.
Tobias didn't respond, so the white man said to the Mexican man: "I think that he's mute now, Harry."
"Oh fuck, Stephen," Harry was seemingly 'shocked' by Stephen's remark. "What should we do?"
Looking at Loona, the native american woman mockingly asked Tobias: "Hey, is that your 'voluntary' girlfriend, like the one from High School? Have you fuck her, yet?" No response from Tobias.
"I am not surprised that you don't talk," Harry commented, placing his hand on Tobias' shoulder. "After all, you are too reta—"
Just then, before Harry could speak further, Liam grab him by his blue Shirt and press him against the wall. Staring at Harry in his eyes, he warned him: "Leave Tobias alone. I may have to put up with what your father says in Spanish but I will not allow you to harass Tobias. If any of you harass Tobias, I will make you pay. Now, buck off!"
Letting go of Harry, he and his peers departed from the store hastily. Turning to Tobias, Liam concernedly asked him: "Are you 'kay, son?"
Tobias nodded his head in response. "Don't worry. I will not allow them to lay a finger on you." Liam reassured Tobias.
Before exiting the store, Liam inquired to Mr. Miller: "Do you have any nicotine patches? It's for Lucy."
Mr. Miller then grabs a package of nicotine patches from a shelf and tosses it toward Liam. Then Liam, Loona, and Tobias exited the store.
Turning to Loona, Liam gave Loona a package of nicotine patches, saying: "Put one on yourself. It will help you cope with the withdrawal. And our anonymous informant will come over to P62 NAU Campus Parking Lot. To avoid suspicion, go to Walmart and buy one bottle of milk and make it look like you're waiting for a friend to pick you up. Got your ID?"
Loona checked her dress and her ID is with her: "Yes. And do I need it? I think that it's unnecessary."
"This is in case an authority figure like a police officer were to ask you for proof of your identity. Anyway, to avoid suspicion, walk there by yourself. We will pick you up after the informant departed."
Loona rolled her eyes at that but nonetheless walk away to get to her destinations. Great. Have to fucking walk there. Do I really have to spy and all that? Well, could be worse, Loona. Could be worse.
