The next day at sunset, Notre Dame Square would be the sight where everyone proved who they really were. The square was filled with guards, protesters, and prisoners in cages. Sokka was among those prisoners.
In the middle of the square was a giant wooden platform with stake in the middle and hay surrounding it. The guards tied Katara to the stake.
Frollo then walked onto the stage and brought a paper with him. He then said, "The gypsy Katara has been found guilty for the crime of witchcraft. The sentence...DEATH!"
This infuriated most people in the crowd, who yelled at Frollo that she was innocent.
Meanwhile, the archdeacon thought he could stop this from happening. However, just as he attempted to interfere, guards prevented him from going any further and doing anything.
Frollo grabbed a torch with fire that was unusually red, as walked up to Katara.
"The time has come, gypsy. You stand upon the brink of the abyss. Yet even now it is not too late. I can save from the flames of this world and the next. Choose me...or the fire."
Katara spit in his face and ultimately refused.
"The gypsy Katara has refused to recant. This evil witch has put the soul of every citizen in Paris in a jeopardizing position."
Meanwhile, at the top of the cathedral, Aang was wrapped in chains, facing towards the square. At first, he was simply giving up, accepting that Frollo had won. For him, he felt that there was nothing he could do about anything at this point.
Suddenly however, he looked down at the square and saw Katara tied to the stake. He then saw Frollo with the torch and knew exactly was about to happen next.
"No...", he said to himself.
Frollo then concluded to the crowd, "For justice, for Paris, and for her own salvation, it is duty to send this unholy demon back to the fires of hell." He then lit the hay on fire.
"NOOOOOO!!!", Aang yelled at the top of his lungs. He now struggled to break the chains.
Katara meanwhile, began coughing from all the smoke that surrounded her, while Frollo looked on with an evil look on his face.
Aang eventually snapped the chains. He was now uncharacteristically angry. When Aang got angry, it was a very scary thing to watch. He grabbed a rope and swung down to the square. He landed on the platform and grabbed Katara, while fending off guards. He then carried her all way back up the cathedral. She was now unconscious from inhaling too much smoke. He stood in front of the giant rose window, lifted Katara up into the air and yelled to the crowd, "SANCTUARY!" The crowd repeated after him and then did it two more times.
On the ground, Frollo ordered some his men to seize the cathedral. Aang, seeing this, put Katara in a back room.
"Don't worry, Katara. You'll be safe here."
Aang then went to the front of the upper floors to defend the cathedral every way possible. He threw down a couple beams to start off. Frollo's men picked up a big one and started using as a ram to break through the cathedral's doors.
Meanwhile, while a guard wasn't looking, Sokka hit him on the head and snatched his keys to free himself. He stood up on the cage and began to rally the crowd.
"Citizens of Paris, Frollo has persecuted OUR people, ransacked OUR city, and now he has declared war on Notre Dame herself. Will we allow it?"
"No!", the crowd yelled. They then started breaking off all the locks on the cages, freeing all the prisoners, including Smith, who then stormed the square and began fighting all the guards.
"Sokka!", Aang excitedly yelled from up top.
Aang continued preventing guards from getting into the cathedral by climbing up while Sokka and everyone else on the ground prevented a large enough number of guards from getting into the cathedral on the ground.
While Aang was heating a giant pot of melted iron, the guards were getting closer to breaking down the door. Then right as the door was broke down, he poured the melted iron, which was now red lava, into the cathedral's fountain system. The gargoyles that doubled as water spouts were now spitting lava down below to the square. Some of the soldiers got away while others were burned to death.
Frollo however, managed to squeeze past the lava and into the cathedral.
"Frollo! Have you gone mad?! I will not tolerate this assault on the house of God!", the archdeacon said as he came down the stairs.
"Silence you old fool!", Frollo said as he threw the archdeacon to the bottom of the steps. "The boy and I have unfinished business. And you will not interfere."
Aang meanwhile bursted into the room where Katara was.
"We did it, Katara! We've beaten them back!", he excitedly yelled.
"Katara..."
Katara was unresponsive however. He attempted to wake her, but received nothing.
"Oh no..."
After a few seconds, Aang broke down and started crying, assuming she was dead.
Just then, Frollo opened the door and walked into the room. He walked up to Aang and put his hand on his shoulder.
"You killed her...", he said.
"'Twas my duty. Terrible as it was, I hope one day you can forgive me. There, there Aang. I know it hurts. But now the time has come to end your suffering...forever."
Frollo raised a dagger, ready to stab Aang. Aang however, saw Frollo's shadow and reacted quickly enough to prevent him from doing so. After a couple seconds of wrestling and struggling, Aang overpowered Frollo by throwing him against the opposing wall, while taking the dagger from him and drawing it in his direction.
"Now, now...listen to me, Aang", Frollo nervously said.
"No you listen! All my life Katara was only person I ever loved and now that took that away from I'm tempted to take something valuable from you! Perhaps your life!"
"Aang?", Katara said as she woke up.
"She lives", Frollo said as he drew his sword.
"No!", Aang yelled. He grabbed Katara, ran out of the room, and disappeared. Frollo followed them out to the balcony. Eventually, he found them dangling from a gargoyle.
"Leaving so soon?", he said as he swung his sword at them. They went from one gargoyle to another and he kept swinging at them.
From down in the square, where the fighting was still going, Sokka yelled, "Look! Up there!" He and Smith then avoided the now hardening lava and ran back into the cathedral.
Frollo then swung at Aang but fell. His robe got caught on Aang's leg and he now hung from it. At the same time, Aang pushed Katara over the ledge and back onto the balcony. Frollo then swung onto another gargoyle while Katara attempted to pull Aang up.
Frollo, thinking he had them, let out an evil laugh.
"And he shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the fiery pit", he said.
Then, the gargoyle began to collapse under Frollo. He hung on, but by then, it was too late. The gargoyle broke off, sending Frollo down into the lava, killing him.
Katara tried pulling up Aang, however he slipped out of her hand, causing him to fall.
"NOOO!!!", she yelled.
Coincidentally, Smith, who was on a middle floor, reached out and grabbed Aang, saving him. He pulled him off the ledge. Aang then hugged him. A minute later, both Katara and Sokka arrived, uniting everyone. Smith and Sokka then stepped back, as Aang and Katara kissed one another.
