Chapter V: A Strange Indeed Town
{Background image for this chapter: Tarot card V - The Hierophant}
Silent Hill is a strange town. I can't find an adjective that does justice to it so I'll just stick with 'strange'. But know just this: It is far from anything else I've ever seen in my life; I'd dare say it is supernatural. It is foggy all the time and so far I've only found one person; a priest who claims to be an exorcist working for the Roman Catholic Church. Fitting. This "Father Giorgio" pretty much ordered me to leave this town at once and never look back, but I can't leave without Ethan. Father Giorgio warned me of a creepy cult called the "Order", (which I've already read about in notes and books scattered throughout the town), but I will continue investigating on my own since all this priest seems to care about is to stress on how quickly I should leave Silent Hill. Father Giorgio is a quite secretive character; he likes to delegate orders without explaining much. I once saw a grimoire on a table and when I moved to open it he grabbed my arm against the book and warned me: "Do you know the only thing these books are good for? To bind you to demons. These books lure people under the pretense of teaching rituals for prosperity or whatever, but their real goal is to expose you to the dozens of demonic seals they carry. A mere glance at a seal and a demon begins to follow you; to live in your house". He refuses to say how the Church knows of Silent Hill no matter how much I ask (the Church and its secrets, pfft). All I could get from him is that the Church decided to investigate Silent Hill after the reports of the Walter Sullivan killings and the South Ashfield Heights Apartments incident. Giorgio was first sent to someone's apartment in Ashfield before coming here, it seems. He keeps ordering me to leave town, and as I refuse to leave before I find Ethan I've decided to leave Father Giorgio alone and walk my own path. I'm now trying to find this "Silent Hill Smile Support Society".
