Ran was going to Shinichi's house so they could go shopping whether he wanted to or not. ¨Good morning Shini….what happened to you.¨ Shinichi looked tired and worn out like he'd been to hell and back.

¨Don´t get me started Ran The Doctor had me up all night trying to entertain himself did you know he doesn't sleep at all Literally he can not biologically sleep, he just stays up doing whatever he can to not get bored which includes making sure I don't sleep¨ Shinichi answered.

¨Hmm well maybe you should try to find something for The Doctor to do at night so you can rest.¨

¨That's not a bad idea, you think you could help me find something for him to do.¨

¨Later right now we're going shopping come on Sonoko´s already waiting for us.¨

¨I don't have a choice in this do I.¨

Some Time After Shopping

Shinichi, Ran, and Sonoko were walking back from shopping when they came across several police cars gathered around an alleyway. ¨Unbelievable¨ Sonoko pouted ¨all I wanted was a nice day out shopping but instead we come across a murder scene.¨

Shinichi just rolled his eyes at her comment and walked over to Inspector Megure and Kogoro who was also there. ¨Inspector what happened¨ Shinichi asked.

¨Ah Shinichi¨ Megure said ¨you see a body was found here ripped to shreds and we were called in to investigate.¨

¨And I got here first so you can leave¨ Kogoro snorted.

¨Ignore him anyway after we got here this guy started investigating the body without permission¨ Megure pointed towards The Doctor who was being restrained by officers.

¨Doctor¨ both Ran and Shinichi exclaimed.

¨You know this guy¨ Sonoko, Kogoro, and Megure responded.

¨Ah y-yeah he's Shinichi's new roommate¨ Ran explained.

¨Why would you have a roommate¨ Sonoko asked cynically.

¨Well you see I met The Doctor a while ago and he just moved to Beika and needed a place to stay and asked if he could crash with me¨ Shinichi explained. And everyone seemed to accept that answer. ¨Anyway Inspector, could you tell your men to let him go I know he can be a little eccentric but i´ll keep him under control¨ Begrudgingly Megure agreed.

¨Thank you Shinichi, those officers were being completely unreasonable¨ The Doctor stated.

¨Well what did you expect you started investigating a crime scene without permission or any form of ID¨ Shinichi argued ¨huh anyway did you at least find anything.¨

¨Well they wounds appear to be claw and bite marks, probably a rabid dog.¨

Shinichi went over to the body and examined it ¨No, these markings are to big for a dog or even a wolf.¨

¨Really¨ The Doctor went to Shinichi and the body ¨your right how did I miss that.¨

Shinichi then proceeded to look around the body for anything else that might tell them what killed this man and found ¨A scale.¨

¨Hmm¨ The Doctor took a look ¨yes a scale.¨

¨You have any idea what it could belong to Doctor.¨

¨Yes if i'm right it belongs to a Drir Hound, a large carnivorous canine like reptile from the planet Virgo.¨

¨Do you know anything that could help us find it? ¨ Shinichi asked.

¨Yes it usually lives in cool and damp places.¨

¨So we need to find a place in Tokyo that's cool and damp that can also conceal a large lizard dog…..the Drir Hounds in the sewer isn´t it.¨

¨Most Likely yes¨ The Doctor answered.

Shinichi got up and went to the Inspector ¨we know where the killer is.¨

Later

The Doctor pulled a sewer hatch out of the ground and climbed down into the sewer. ¨Detective brat you sure are killers down there¨ Kogoro asked and Shinichi nodded ¨alright.¨

The Doctor, Shinichi, Kogoro, and Inspector Megure went down to the sewer and searched for the Drir Hound and well ¨Ahhh this is no use we´ve been down here for hours¨ Kogoro growled.

¨Now now be patient Kogoro, this city's sewers are rather expansive could take months to find the Drir Hound¨ The Doctor said. (and by this point Kogoro and Megure know about The Doctors origins since it has been several hours)

¨Oh great so we could be down here for months how is being patient going to help¨ Kogoro was cut off when the Drir Hound pinned down Shinichi ¨huh I guess being patient does work.¨

Shinichi kicked the Drir Hound off him which seemed to have injured it. Good thing Shinichi did soccer. The Hound then growled and looked ready to attack someone else but Megure then shot it and the Drir Hound fell over.

The Doctor then made his way over to the Hound and knelt beside it ¨I'm sorry my friend but I don't have the means to take you home right now this was the only way¨ The Doctor said patting the Drir Hounds head as it passed away.

Later

¨Sorry about the wait but I had to dispose of the body can't risk someone getting their hands on it¨ The Doctor said.

¨Well anyway I need to go meet up with my friends to play mahjong¨ Kogoro said.

Suddenly an idea popped into Shinichi´s head ¨hey Kogoro can you do me a favor.¨

¨Why would I do you a favor? ¨ Kogoro asked, irritated.

¨BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A WINK OF SLEEP LAST NIGHT AND IM ALSO YOUR DAUGHTERS BOYFRIEND¨ Shinichi yelled.

¨Okay okay¨ Kogoro said, scared.

¨Doctor, do you want to join Kogoro and his friends in a game of Mahjong¨ Shinichi asked The Doctor.

¨Oh yes of course¨ The Doctor replied

SIDE NOTE: after that The Doctor joined Kogoro in Mahjong every night of his exile and even occasionally paid a visit after he was freed to play a game
