Epilogue

by Father Giorgio
Dear Ethan, this is Father Giorgio writing. Your brother Cyrus believed he failed you, but remember we must forgive a man's weakness in faith. We're not always strong and sometimes we just give up, but believe me, we did succeed in the end. After Alessa killed the Order's "God" Cyrus was possessed by a fragment of its soul, and caused Cyrus' monster-body to attain its final form. But worry not for I've defeated the possession through a successful exorcism of your brother. Unfortunately, Cyrus sacrificed himself in the process, though, against my will I must add, and his body perished. But I firmly believe he is in Heaven now. I really do. I see this book as proof, for it materialized in the spot right after his body evaporated. Do you want to know why I believe this so firmly? When I picked the book it had no epilogue; I saw the text appear on the blank page before Chapter I. It appeared right before my eyes; it was the last thing he wrote in this whole book. Thus it doesn't end with Cyrus' statement of failure… I believe, for I saw with my own eyes.
And all I wrote is this epilogue. If God (the real one) is good, the message will arrive to you somehow and soon. I don't know how, but I believe it will, Ethan. It's all good now, we can go home; I'll be waiting for you, for as long as it takes, in Nathan Ave. by Rosewater Park… I know you will come, because Cyrus knew. I thereby finish this book with your brother's last words, which I, well, make mine too (I am letting go of this town, for I have been able to see that even it shall come to pass): "I've finally realized that, for you to finally go, It is I who will have to let go".
THE END
