With the end of her feudal adventure, things have come to an end. Though not a fully happy one.

Kagome comes to her home feeling joyful that everything has come to an end -- no more fighting, injuries, and deaths, especially the fact her friends back there will be safer despite being regretful not bidding farewell.

Looking up at the Goshinboku tree, the place where it all started, she muttered a small prayer under her breath.

"May our soul be one."

Sighing in defeat, she accepted her fate and moved on to her next chapter in life.

Though things are not going her way when there are pesky hosts mingling around.

•[PROLOGUE]•

Her life after

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha

It was another day full of life as Kagome climb up the stairs located at the very entrance of her family's shrine after a long hour of sweeping leaves.

The birds are chirping happily, singing the tune of a peaceful life, bushes rich in the color of nature as the leaves on the trees continue to grow as time passes by.

But is it the same for her? No, unfortunately.

Tracing her steps carefully, treading her way up mind unusually silent for her liking, she climbed up until she reached the arch of the shrine. There are a lot of stairs but Kagome heeds no mind as she was already used to it. After all, it is the place she grew up.

Letting her mind wander aimlessly she took a look at the surroundings and gave a deep breath. How could she not? Everything was in place -- no destruction, further feudal chaos, and no demons. However, she couldn't just take it off her mind that everything had been wiped off and only a slip was left.

Like a grain in the air, lone and insignificant, small and unnoticeable, a dirt that is out of place.

It was as if life had been drained out of her youthful appearance, her chocolate brown eyes held such a wise gaze of an olden time.

Breathing a sigh, she stopped walking and looked at the tree that stood centuries before the shrine.

The Goshinboku, the tree of all ages and also known as the tree of god, has witnessed every single event that has transpired all across the time she had been there. Both in the past and her present, and she will make sure that it will, later on, be passed along with the rich history of her place.

It was sad that everything disappeared.

In just a blink of an eye they were suffering, there was pain, countless troubles, and tribulations, as well as good and bad moments where you meet someone and spend time with them.

It was just a blink of an eye that they were smiling as they finished each of their quests in life with the help of another. There were sacrifices to make, decisions to take, and heartache to bear.

It was just a blink of an eye that victory was in their hands. And when they have it. When she had it. She opened her eyes.

And woke up.

Higurashi Kagome has risen early in the morning on the day of her 15th year of living, not as the priestess, guardian of the four souls jewel, who held great power but as a small teenage girl whose life was normal as any other high school student.

At first, she thought that it was only a dream. A lucid one, an alternate universe that has far too many changes from her real one.

Kagome didn't like it.

But soon days turns to weeks, weeks turned into months and soon it was a year.

She's back.

But this time, there are things that are different. Kagome will never be the same.

There is no her or she anymore. Just one.
