•[Chapter 1]•
Today I woke up
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or Ouran Highschool Host Club
After feeling like an old woman with crippling arthritis for the past hour now, Kagome has decided to rise and start the day already.
With a simple stretch of her arm, she let her bones pop one by one. Releasing a low groan and also a string of complaints, she set her feet down the floor and wore her indoor slippers.
The steps she took are light and carefree. The smile she displayed shows her kind nature, but at the same time, the light circles that surround her eyes tell a different story.
On the small kitchen counter, she readied herself a breakfast; a simple sunny-side-up, rice, and warm milk. She ate it up on the table, as she saw the sun peaking on the window sill.
She smiled.
It has been a while since she has been like this. Especially moving away from the place she grew up and finding an apartment. She missed everything there, her mother's own cooking, her grandfather's lore stories, her bantering with her brother, the shrine: Everything.
But she needs to move on. She once again directed her gaze at the scenery outside with many people bustling at 6 in the morning. There are street vendors installing their goods already and shops cleaning their fronts. There are also birds that chirp, and play around on the lines of the posts.
It has been a while- Take a quick shower, quick breakfast, quick check of things, and you are ready to go; A normal routine for a normal person.
Kagome sighed as she looked at herself in the mirror, her smile still intact.
The once lustrous long raven hair and peach white skin color were gone and replaced by pixie black hair, and sun-kissed skin.
Her body is not as healthy as before, she admits that she has been bad to her body that makes her look way more skinnier than before but in her defense it's still normal, and she still has the necessary fats.
All in all, she still looks like her. But when paired with a yellow puffy dress? Nevermind, she look like a crossdresser on crack. Nonetheless, everything feels normal. It was nothing special, "New day New me, I guess."
Swiftly making sure that everything is fine and in the right order. Although she was feeling a bit jittery, and anxious, she shrugged it back. She left her apartment, and since its still at least an hour before everything starts, walking her way to her new school may be a good way to pass time.
She hopes everything will be fine.
So far it was early in the morning, but she felt like it was time to march back home.
First, walking to school wasn't a good idea. Why? Because of her uniform. The puffy banana-colored uniform has given her a great deal of headaches and Kagome blames herself for not thinking things through and thought that it would be alright considering that she also does this way back home. It's not. The people literally repelled her. Well, lesson learned. Luckily, other than that no other occurrences happened and safely arrived at her destination.
With all the unnecessary grandeur, Ouran High School certainly lives up to its reputation as one of the most prestigious schools, infamous for being a school for the rich in Japan. From its exterior design, foundations, and beautiful gardens with angel-peeing fountains, to its well-decorated interior structure, and staff and teachers who surely are from well-known family and academic backgrounds.
As magnificent as the school is, apparently the students' conduct wasn't.
Sure, not all of them are arrogant or that bad, but they lack empathy and awareness.
Kagome wondered if it has something to do with being rich as she passed by a group of students. Transferring schools at a different place with different people when the term started 3 days ago has now proven to be a troublesome chore. She needs to start right back. However, looking at the teenagers attending, socializing would be a difficult subject to master.
Their loud whispering and blatant staring, disregarding her obvious discomfort, said it all. She ignored them as best as she can and continued her way. Once she find the right door, she stopped right in front of it and patiently wait the teacher's signal.
"Please welcome our new student, Higurashi Kagome."
It was short but enough. Kagome opened the door and walked up to the podium, trying hard to relax and not be stiff.
"I am Higurashi Kagome. Pleased to meet you," As standard as it is, it is a great way to instantly form the impression of being simple with a single smile and a single bow. She lifts her head and lets her chocolate brown eyes wander over who her classmates would be.
There are a variety of people; good-natured and well behaved, foreign ones, the rich and wealthy - she's sure that most are, those who look childish, the plain one and also haughty ones. Kagome made a lot of mental comments inside her head.
As she scanned more people, the ones that caught her attention were three people; the two are redhead twins with fiery eyes. She immediately noticed them for their bright hair obviously. Other than that, it was from what aura they emit. Kagome couldn't describe clearly but their aura just felt sly, and playful, if she wanted to guess further then they would have a mischievous nature, a natural behavior of a teenager.
The other one was the unkempt but studious type student that sat in between them, wearing an oversized polo with a sweater topping it. Hair is short and disarray. If Kagome couldn't read aura's she'll probably mistake her as a boy.
Kagome noticed her for her attire, she looks like an outcast if not.
As her eyes lingered on her, the similar brown shade of eyes interlocked with hers and she could not help but broke into a smile, "And please take care of me."
She took her designated seat and stayed there until the bell chimed, indicating a new subject to start.
Kagome already got a tour of the whole campus and boy, it was huge.
She had already seen some of the places, and it was just a small portion. Everything is big. There's even a clock tower, she didn't know how she missed that.
In the garden where not many students went, Kagome decided to go there and eat lunch instead of going to the cafeteria. She didn't want to go there, her normal self would freaking lose her kindness and bash the people's head with the price of the food, and socialites.
Three days have already passed since her transfer, and so far so good. No unbearable incidents happened, and she was sailing smoothly. She met some of her classmates already, but Kagome can feel their wariness towards her.
Looking at the area, she saw a lone figure and Kagome knew that it was one of her classmates, and the one she first noticed. If Kagome's right, the other's last would be Fujioka.
Fujioka no longer wears her past clothes and wears the standard male uniform. Her messy hair was combed neatly and she didn't use glasses anymore, replacing them with contacts. She looks good, definitely like a good-natured boy.
Debating in her head whether it would be a good idea to say hi to the other, the side of her wanting to have friends wins without much of a fight.
"Hi, I'm Higurashi Kagome. We're in the same class. It's nice to meet you." Kagome introduced herself.
"... I-uh Fujioka Haruhi, and likewise."
The reply took seconds and was curt, a little bit hurried. Nonetheless, It was a good start, Kagome thought as she readied herself to sit down on the bench and join the brown-haired fellow to eat.
"Can we eat together?" She asked, although already too late as she was already sitting down she still did. When the brunette nodded– albeit reluctantly or confused, she beamed, "Great!"
Showing her hands that carried a rather medium to large brought size lunch, she untied it too daintily for her liking.
One by one, she laid every layer that had a variant of lunch in them. She only noticed when all of them were laid out. Glancing over her companion, she hurriedly arranged everything in an orderly manner.
"Have some of these, I made too many this morning. It would be a waste if I would just throw it away."
