Prologue:
A she-wolf nuzzles her fallen mate. "No! No! Loki! You can't leave me! No!" She sobs into her mate's fur.
"K- Kat- Katniss," her fallen mate, Loki, says weakly, breathing heavily. "Don't worry about me, protect Remus. Keep our pup safe. I must go to the moon, my Luna. Remember that I will always love you, you are my Luna. Goodbye, my mate," Loki reassures Katniss before his body goes limp and his eyes close for the last time.
"Loki! Please! You can't leave me on my own! Please!" The she-wolf continues to cry.
A few moments later, the she-wolf nuzzles her mate for the last time. She retrieves their pup from their den and gently takes him in her mouth, holding him gently by the scruff. After several days of traveling, the mother-son duo arrives at a werewolf den on the outskirts of the nearest town. She sets her pup down at the entrance and licks him affectionately. She sets a note beside the small pup before picking up a small stone and throwing it into the den. The rock bounces off the stone walls, creating a sound similar to that of a knock. Katniss runs to the nearby bushes and watches as a male wolf, most likely the alpha, steps out and picks up her pup, Remus. The wolf looks around before heading back into the den, taking Remus and the note with him. Katniss sighs and steps out of the bushes and looks longingly at the den before leaving the area.
Summary:
Katniss Lupin is Remus Lupin's mother. After many years on the run, Katniss returns to Remus during his seventh year, once it is safe for her to do so. Katniss becomes the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts and the class gains new interest from the student population, thanks to Katniss' teaching style. Katniss fights in court for the right to adopt brothers Sirius and Regulus Black. Katniss goes on to continue teaching DADA, despite the chaos of the Golden Trio Era, and retires after the children of the Next Generation Era have graduated. Follow Katniss in the chaotic whirlwind of being a Lupin, a werewolf, and the DADA teacher at Hogwarts. I hope you enjoy 'A Mother Never Forgets'!
