There are thousands of songs in the world, and thousands more are written, created, and published every day. However, a decent-sized section of those songs are not for any Cybertronian's audio receptors. Every chapter is a different song with an OC, Fern Soria (who was made specifically for this), and the scenario that caused it to either be added to the base's 'Banned Songs' list or not. Enjoy! - Summary
List of Banned Songs:
1. Kerosene by Miranda Lambert
Ya know, as much fun as it is messin' with the Cybertronians, this one wasn't exactly planned. Seein' as they've lived in near-perfect harmony with the Cybertronians for two years now, you'd think the Cybertronians would be used to the music that Fern Soria and Mikaela Banes listen to. However, there are a few that scare the livin' shit out of 'em. These few have made it onto the recently made, 'List of Banned Songs'. One of these songs is Kerosene by Miranda Lambert. When Fern says that this song caused the 'bots and 'cons alike to run and hide, she ain't jokin'. Here's how this came to be.
Mikaela and Fern stride into the hangar, listening to their joint playlist when Kerosene by Miranda Lambert comes on. "I'm waitin' on the sun to set 'cause yesterday ain't over yet," Fern sings before Mikaela picks up the next bit of lyrics.
"I started smokin' cigarettes, there's nothin' else to do, I guess..." Mikaele trails off, "Dusty roads ain't made for walkin'. Spinnin' tires ain't made for stoppin'."
"I'm givin' up on love, 'cause love's given up on me. I gave it everything I had, and everything I got was bad," Fern continues, the duo oblivious to the terrified looks the 'bots and 'cons direct their way.
"Life ain't hard but it's too long. Livin' life like some old country song. Trade a truth in for a lie, cheatin' really ain't a crime," Mikaela and Fern walk into the garage.
"Forget your high society, I'm soakin' it in kerosene. Light 'em up and watch them burn, teach them what they need to learn, ha!" Mikaela bumps Fern's hip with her own, letting her know she'll finish the song after her. Dirty hands ain't made for shakin' ain't a rule that ain worth breakin'. Well, I'm giving up on love cause love's given up on me.
"Now, I don't hate the one who left, you can't hate someone that's dead. He's out there holding onto someone, I'm holding up my smoking gun. I'll find somewhere to lay my blame the day she changes her last name," Fern rings.
The duo finishes the song in unison, "Well, I'm giving up on love cause love's given up on me. Well, I'm giving up one love, hey, love's given up on me." They look up to find several bots and cons backing away from them and toward the door. Fern notices Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, her sparkmates, take a step back from her when she walks up to them.
"Are you two ok?" Fern questions, tilting her head in confusion.
"Absolutely. We just forgot to go...patrol! We'll be back later. Love you, Fern!" Sunstreaker calls before he and Sideswipe transform, speeding out of the open hangar door. Fern looks at Mikaela, only to realize she got a similar reaction from Jazz.
The duo shrugs before walking away from the hangar to go find a bot or con to mess with.
"Should we tell them?" William asks, looking at Epps and Graham, who shake their heads.
"Naw, they'll either figure it out or remain terrified. Either way, both sets of twins are out, so we can finally get some actual work done without any interruptions," Graham says. The trio walks to their respective offices and settles in for a quiet evening.
Several hours later.
.:Fern Soria and Mikaela Banes, please come to my office. Ratchet, Prowl, Megatron, and I would like to speak with you:. Optimus comms Fern and Mikaela as they walk out of Prowl's office after finishing whatever prank they'd done. They look at each other before shrugging. They walk over to Optimus' office, knocking before they enter.
"What's goin' on, Sire?" Fern inquires, looking at Optimus, who had become her father figure in the few years she'd been with the Cybertronian.
"Prowl has informed Megatron, Ratchet, and I that the two of you were singing a song earlier today and just so happened to terrify the majority of the bots and cons on base in the process. Though it did allow for a peaceful evening, I'm afraid we have to set limits, stating what songs can't be sang around the other bots and cons. There is a new document set up and songs will be added depending on the situation," Optimus explains.
"You two may go. I recommend finding your sparkmates and calming them down," Megatron states.
"Of course," the duo says in unison before walking out to find and confront their sparkmates.
With Mikaela and Jazz:
"Jazz!" Mikaela calls, latching onto her sparkmate's servo before he can dart out of their shared room. He vents softly and turns to face his human sparkmate.
"Yes, Mikaela?" He inquires.
"I want to talk to you. About earlier," she says to him.
"What about earlier?" He scans their bond, noticing the fear and concern from her side of the bond.
"The song Fern and I were singing. It was just a song that came up on Pandora on our connected playlist. Apparently, we managed to scare the majority of the bots and cons on base. Were you...one of them?" Mikaela hesitates, fear and concern clear in her brilliant blue eyes.
Jazz crouches down and lifts Mikaela up near his face. He gazes into her beautiful blue eyes, which he can stare into for hours on end, as he gently strokes one cheek with a metal digit. "Mikaela, the song may have frightened me for a moment, but I got over it. It was just a song, you are right. I'd like it if you shared your playlists with me so that in the future, I know it is simply a song," Jazz comforts, his accent forgotten in the heat of the moment.
Mikaela throws her arms around Jazz's neck, relief flowing from both ends of their bond.
With Fern, Sideswipe, and Sunstreaker:
Fern runs down the hall and into her and the twins' berthroom. She launches herself at Sunstreaker, startling him as she scales his large metal back.
"Fern?" Sunstreaker inquires, confusion clear in his voice as she climbs up onto his shoulder.
"Is it true?" Fern asks, burying herself into the crook of his neck. Sunstreaker freezes, not moving for fear of hurting her. Sideswipe walks into their shared berthroom from the adjoined washroom, only to stop at the sight of Fern cradled in the crook of Sunstreaker's neck.
"Is what true, Sweetspark?" Sideswipe asks.
"Is it true that Mikaela and I scared you when we were singing earlier? Is that why you willingly went on patrol?" Fern's voice is nearly inaudible to the twins.
Sunstreaker vents as Sideswipe gently takes Fern from the crook of Sunstreaker's neck. He cradles her in his large servo gently as he and Sunstreaker sit on one of the two berths, resting their backs against the backboard. "Oh, Sweetspark. While the lyrics were terrifying in the moment, it was no more than a simple scare, similar to that of a backfired prank. We needed a moment to calm our racing sparks. We came right back after patrol. What do you say we have a movie marathon tonight?" Sideswipe reassures, allowing Fern to nestle up between the Lambo twins.
"Ok. I love you, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe," Fern states, humming quietly as heat radiates from the two mechs, warming her up rather quickly.
"I love you as well, Sweetspark," Sideswipe says.
"I love you too, Ivy," Sunstreaker says.
Sidesipe, Sunstreaker, and Fern begin their movie marathon, watching all the Marvel movies and Fern explains whatever the twins don't understand. It lasts until Fern falls asleep around two in the morning, the twins falling into recharge not long after Fern, turning the tv off before. Mikaela and Jazz talk all night, about anything and everything. Mikaela falls asleep around midnight, cradled gently in Jazz's arms.
