A black cloud dissipated, revealing a bedroom with cardboard boxes and a bed with a boy waking up. The source of the Mist, Musharna, was relieved. It's Mist made dreams real, and when a dreamer woke up, all of the dream is sealed away in a sort of pocket dimension. Joining Musharna inside the boy's dream were Mawile and Ralts. They regained their color, as when they were in headspace they were monochrome like Omori. They used to do this all the time, but then the incident happened, and the way Sunny woke up... changed, and they couldn't take seeing how their trainer woke up. It had been four years since they entered his dreams. But, as they were about to move, Mawile convinced the group to do this again, as this might be the only way to save Sunny. When they asked Omori, or typed their request on his laptop, to take the place of any headspace versions of themselves, he surprisingly agreed. Sunny woke up. He was fully clothed in a school uniform, socks, shoes, and hat. He went over to the phone to listen to the voice mail.
"Hey Sunny, it's mommy…"
Mawile had to be restrained with psychic. It hated that Sunny's mom was never home, always made excuses, and tried to claim she was a good parent. Then, the voice mail mentioned the power being off. Mawile used had to be moved out of the room. Sunny was hungry. He looked at Ralts. Ralts opened the door for him. Sunny went to the stairs…then shook his head. He went to his mom's room. No food. He went into the bathroom, no food, but he saw himself and Musharna in the mirror. He decided to sleep it off. Once asleep, dream Mist filled the room. Surprisingly, instead of headspace, they were all still in Sunny's room. Upon leaving and seeing the red light outside, the Pokémon realized their trainer was dreaming. Sunny felt almost drawn to the red light, but approached the stairs. He was hungry. He went down the stairs, the endless stairs. Floating hands surrounded him the further he went down. Whispering voices were heard as everything began to shake and go dark. A hand much bigger and more detailed appeared behind Sunny, then attacked him!
The Pokémon watched from atop the stairs in horror as Something in the Dark attacked Sunny. Sunny was afraid. Something in the Dark shoved him. Sunny began to tumble down the endless stairs. Something in the Dark laughed and taunted Sunny as he fell. Ralts attempted to save him using psychic, but it failed. The Pokémon trio ran down the stairs, fighting the floating, black hands. As Sunny tumbled, the four of them heard a voice. Mari.
"Sunny. You need to calm down. Remember, it's not as scary as you think."
Sunny stopped himself from falling and took a deep breath.
The Mist appeared and dissipated, revealing Sunny and his Pokémon standing above the normal staircase. He must've sleep walked. Ralts used Heal Pulse on Sunny, as Sunny was hurt from his fall down the endless stairs. Sunny nodded at his Ralts in gratitude.
The four went downstairs to the fridge. Inside was a steak. Sunny used the microwave. He grabbed a knife and plate. He somehow didn't notice that the microwave wasn't turned on. He ate a nibble, then ran to the bathroom to vomit. His Pokémon followed him. Mawile patted his back while Ralts tried to reassure Sunny, though Ralts is a Pokémon and thus cannot speak human language, the thought is appreciated. When he was done, the Mist returned, but when it went away, they were all still in the bathroom. A knock was heard at the door. The boy and his Pokémon went to the front door.
"Hey Sunny, it's Mari. Can you let me in? I forgot my keys" A voice that sounded like Mari said. Sunny opened the door and looked around with his Pokémon, but there was nothing - HOLY MOTHER OF ARCEUS! WHAT IN THE DISTORTION WORLD IS THAT?!
Sunny slammed the door shut. The Mist came back and disappeared, Sunny sleep walked again. He was shaking and crying. He hugged Musharna and sobbed, while Mawile and Ralts hugged him. Sunny hugged his three Pokemon and sobbed. He was hungry, tired, scared, but not alone. He had his Pokemon with him. They were always gonna be there for him. It saddened them to see him so sad. They hadn't seen him smile since the...incident. Ralts used Psychic and carried Sunny to bed. He fell asleep, and the Mist came back
Musharna can make dreams and nightmares real, so any injuries received in this now real dream world will stay in the normal world. For this story, the Mist acts like a portal to the dream dimensions, headspace and whatever happens when Sunny wakes up during the prolog in this case. While this chapter is shorter, it reveals some of the effects the existence of Pokemon will have on the story... remember to read and review!
