At Hogwarts, in the Great Hall, Katniss' POV:
I listen as the young children begin to fill the Great Hall and smile. I wait until I hear Albus finish speaking before walking through the large doors. My gaze wanders across each child's face, memorizing every single one. "Thank you, Albus. It is a pleasure to be at this magnificent school once more. I hope all of you, no matter your house, grow to be the finest wizards and witches after to graduate. As Albus introduced me, I am Professor Katniss Lupin. I trust all of you not to question my last name or anyone else with the same as I. Now, continue with your breakfast and enjoy the rest of your day," I say with a kind yet stern smile that reveals my sharp fangs. I hear a few gasps as I take a seat at the Professors' table. I glance over at the Gryffindor table, where Remus and his friends sit. I eat silently before heading to the DADA classroom. As I wait patiently for the kids to fill the room, I write my name on the blackboard. I pull out my wand and cast non-verbal spells to prepare the room for today's lesson. I remove the desks, leaving an empty space everywhere besides my desk and the chalkboard. I flick my wand and four battle mats appear.
As classes go by, I introduce myself and the first few lessons to each class. Finally, in the last class of the day, sixth and seventh-year Gryffindors, including my pup and his friends, and Slytherins enter the room. As they scatter and gather into their friend groups, I notice that the Slytherins and Gryffindors throw glares at each other and stay separated. I make a mental note to pair up Slytherins and Gryffindors to fix the rift between the two houses. I clap my hands to get the students' attention and succeed in doing so.
"Alright, class, I will go over some rules before we begin. One, I will not tolerate segregation by house or blood status. I may be a Slytherin, but I will not and do not tolerate it. You will find yourself in my office writing essays about the other houses and blood status. Two, I don't care if your parents are high in rank or society, you will still be in my office writing those prementioned essays. Now, here is how my class works. You will be split into groups of two. At the end of class on the last day of each month, you will get your new partner. If I deem you intolerable of each other, you will be stuck together for another month and so on so forth until you can strike up and hold a conversation with one another for a minimum of five minutes. And, yes, I will time you if necessary. Another thing. I physically can't sit through lectures and lessons where a teacher drones on and on about a subject. I can't just write an essay. So I will incorporate more than that into lessons, tests, essays, you name it, it'll be more fun than that. For example, today we will be going over all that you know and understand about the Dark Arts and the Defence Against the Dark Arts. When I say that, I mean more than just an essay or a simple demonstration. You'll see what I mean in a moment. First, let's break you into groups," I say. I turn to the blackboard and use non-verbal wandless magic to write on it as I speak. I turn back to face the class. "Group 1 is Sirius Black and Regulus Black. Group 2 is James Potter and Severus Snape. Group 3 is Remus Lupin and Lucius Malfoy. Group 4 is Peter Pettigrew and Narcissa Black. Group 5 is Alice Longbottom and Rodolphus Lestrange. Group 6 is Marlene McKinnon and Bellatrix Black. Group 7 is Mary Macdonald and Avery. Group 8 is Lily Evans and Evan Rosier. Get into your assigned groups. Now, pay very close attention to what I am about to do because you will be doing it when I'm done. Mr. Malfoy, please join me in the front of the room. When I say go, Mr. Malfoy, attack me with your best offensive spell. I will cast my best defensive spell in return. Only in duels between me, a professor, and you, not between you and another student, may you attack with one of the Unforgiveable Curses. Only then will I allow it. Now, Mr. Malfoy, go ahead."
Lucius Malfoy stands four feet from me and fires the exploding curse at me, "Confringo!"
I block the spell, "Expecto Patronum!" A silver eagle owl shoots out of my wand and deflects the spell before flying around the room. The students look at my Patronus in shock and amazement. "Mr. Malfoy, you may go back to your partner now. I would like each of you to stand four feet from your partner, facing each other. I would like you to send your best offensive spell to your partner, while your partner tries to deflect the spell with their best defensive spell. If it is needed, I will step in. Begin," I say and Lucius walks back to his place beside James Potter.
-Time Skip to the End of Class-
"Well done, everyone! Today went better than I expected. Onto the topic of homework. I know you all dread that word. As you are in your sixth and seventh years, the homework I give will not be easy, unless compared to your other classes. Homework is due every Friday and is given out every Monday. You are welcome to turn it in early, but, please, don't feel rushed to do so. Starting tonight, you will research the Unforgiveable Curses. Then you will write two essays, each with a minimum of one paragraph. For your first essay, you will write about all the information you found on all three curses. For your second essay, you will choose one of the Unforgiveable Curses and write about what you think about that specific curse. On Friday, we will have a debate about the curses. During your presentation of the second essay, on Friday, feel free to take your notes up with you. Feel free to just read your essay word for word. I did that for the majority of my years at Hogwarts. I wrote my own script for my essay and read it word for word during my presentations, I still do so today. I do offer tutoring to those who decide they want it. If you would like tutoring, meet here in the classroom between 3:30 and 5:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays. Enjoy the rest of your day. I will see you all tomorrow," I explain.
The students leave the classroom. I take a picture of the chalkboard before erasing it. I place the picture in a folder labeled 'Sixth & Seventh Years'.
Hello, everyone! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Thank you again, marchiesss (on Wattpad), for encouraging me to continue with this book. By the end of this chapter, I came up with a few other ideas for the storyline.
Here's a sneak peek at an idea I have. Let me know what you think:
Katniss continues to teach at Hogwarts for many years after the Marauders graduated. Time skips to when Remus comes to Hogwarts to teach. He teaches alongside his mother in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Katniss stands up to Umbridge and refuses to back down despite almost losing her position as a member of Hogwarts' staff. Katniss becomes a member of the Order of the Phoenix and refuses to back down during the war.
