"Now you're sure we have everything?"
At this Juliette rolls her eyes but can't muster too much annoyance at the coolly asked question considering it came with the asker now snuggled up behind her complete with a strong jaw tucked over her shoulder as the list Juliette had been put in charge of along with the first of the couple's twin grocery laden carts was reread over Juliette's shoulder.
"Reconsidering your so vocal in wanting to host Thanksgiving dinner this year Burns?" Juliette jokes leaning back into the warm hold now surrounding her considering neither one much cared that they were in the middle of a well-trafficked shopping aisle of the Savannah grocery store.
"No." Cal defends but her tone was far less sure than it had been the last few days leading up to the food-heavy holiday as her eyes continue going down the crossed-out lines of the list still resting against the pushed-out seat of Juliette's shopping cart.
"We have everything, I'm sure of it." Juliette calms tilting her head to nuzzle against the taller woman's jaw, but Cal was already shaking her head in denial.
"But I have to have missed something."
At this Juliette twists around against the braced backing of the shopping cart. Her arms looped deliberately around her worrying lover's neck. "You didn't miss anything, Cal. That's why you put me in charge of the list, remember." The legacy soothes lightly carding her hands through the taller woman's hair as she spoke.
The calculated move worked like the charm Juliette knew it to be as a little more of the tension left Cal's shoulders as the taller woman's head dipped to rest her forehead on Juliette's own with a slowly exhaled breath.
"I'm being a goof again huh?"
"Yeah, but you're my goof so it's alright." Juliette smiled leaving little Eskimo kisses against Cal's nose.
"Letty? Callie?"
Juliette giggles at her hunter's low growl at the nickname.
"Hello to you too Benny bear." Cal fires back earning an equally disapproving grimace from the approaching human, but Cal wasn't done just yet when she spied who was shadowing the newcomer. "Zanny. How's my favorite hell cat?"
Even Juliette chuckled at the honest breath of a growl the question triggered but the legacy wasn't bothered considering the more brother-sister relationship her hunter had forged with Ben's newest attempt at a relationship.
"Funny." Zane scoffed his eyes shifting to a more silvery green when they meet Cal's own.
"Now, now." Juliette stepped in earning a small pout from Ben at the halt to the more playful back and forth between the two friend's partners.
"Apologies, my lady." Zane says with a small bow of his head.
"Z how many times…I've asked you to not do that." Juliette complained in a huff as the legacy rocked back on her heels after a greeting hug with her best friend.
"You have." Zane agreed taking charge of the cart Cal had been pushing considering he and Ben had been shadowing the detracted couple for a few aisles before making their presence known and had seen even the determined hunter start to struggle under the weight of the thing.
"Yet you keep doing it." Juliette sighs. "Keep that up and Ben here might just think you've changed teams on him."
At this Zane laughs aloud. "Not a chance." The olive-skinned young man denies keeping an easy grip on the shopping cart with one hand while the other reached over to take a now blushing Ben Wheeler's hand in his own. "Besides you know as well as any in our circles how protective us night creatures are of our mates."
"M… M Mates huh?" Cal echoes in honest surprise while Juliette seems to be all but vibrating in excitement at the development of her best friend's relationship status. "Wow. Didn't know you two were so serious."
"You've kept that quiet." Juliette complains
"We were going to tell everyone at dinner tonight but considering the more Romeo Julesy-et state of everything we didn't know how the others would react."
"You didn't know how they'd react when you're sitting at a dinner table hosted by a cast-out hunter and her second in power to the highest honor in the Monster community lady love?" Cal clarified tossing yet another healthy pounded turkey into the cart when they rolled passed the frozen foods section.
"You seem to be forgetting who my mother is." Ben reminded tossing a bag of Oreos into one of the two carts being pushed along beside him. "What?" he questioned at Cal's raised eyebrow glance at the addition. "We'll go havsies. Z and I get this cart you and Letty handle that one." He shrugged in offering.
"Deal." Cal agreed offering her hand.
"Cool." Ben smiles taking her hand in an agreeing shake.
"Now that the bill is settled how about we find a way to get all of this home to start cooking." Juliette offers after firing off a quick string of texts.
"As our keeper commands." Zane smiles earning a smack to the arm with a bag of bread rolls from Cal on her legacy's behalf.
"Theo will meet us outside to help get everything home." Juliette offers as the twin carts groaned closer toward the checkout.
"Thank Lilith." Zane sighs gratefully.
"He better be helping with cook too." Cal agreed "Mom and I are good tag teaming it but it'll be hard keeping Ollie out of the kitchen."
"That can be arranged." Juliette nodes with a laugh.
"Then let's go get cooking huh?" Ben joins in already helping Zane load up the checkout belt.
