"Back to bed Eeyore" Shaw mumbled at the same time Root finished pulling on her newest favored leather jacket smoothing it out over the weapon neatly tucked into the hacker's waistband. A gift from Sameen. Sherpa lined against the dropping temperatures, yet Kevlar infused for added protection for those dwindling times her compact Persian of a protector wasn't around for added backup.

"Sorry sweetie but no can do." the hacker sighed pushing her "nerd glasses" a little higher on her nose as she leaned over Shaw's side of the bed for a quick kiss to her grumpy bedmate's forehead. "a few more numbers just came up She hadn't counted for..." she attempts to explain at Shaw's darkening mood at the hacker's continued absence from the "ridiculously large bed" as Shaw had so bluntly dubbed it in the pair's latest apartment.

"Fuck the numbers Root it's the holidays, now come back to bed" Shaw grumbled taking full advantage of Root's lapse in judgment considering now Shaw had a deliberate way of holding her amused hacker hostage with a fist full of Root's jacket.

Instead of answering with something like "why would I do any of them when I have you keeping me occupied" as the half asleep ex marine had thought Root gives a much more reserved "Not work numbers, sweetie I meant added numbers for Thanksgiving dinner" in clarification instead with a low amused purr when as she'd (Root) expected given the early hour of the day Shaw's jacked free hand had disappeared under the separating layers of Root's clothes to trace soft and deliberate over Blackwell's "lucky shot" as Root had taken to calling her healing snipers wound.

The shorter woman wasn't going to admit she nuzzled into the now cupped hand Root was holding along her jaw as Sameen Shaw's eyes meet Samantha Groves's in the early morning sunlight.

"Would it make you feel better if I took Bear with me while you stay here and help Her look up recipes?" Root offered as she like Shaw hear the answering jingling of their dog's collar as Bear looked over at them from his lazy resting place on the apartment sofa.

The tv is already on at a low volume playing a pup favorited 'Slaps-giving' episode of HIMYM.

"Who's all coming now?" Shaw yawns instead of a true answer her hand still resting against Root's chest under her clothes. Her fingers yet to stop the grounding trace of the scar never once present in any of Samaritan's simulations as Shaw counts each beat of Root's heart under her palm.

"Well, the Big Lug, and Fusco." Root starts off with that maddening cocky smile Shaw wants to either punch or kiss away yet is unable to decide which option to choose at the moment as she lets her smug hacker keep talking.

Going by the shy smile her hacker was sending her Shaw could assume Root was hoping for the second of the thought-up options running in Shaw's mind. As it was Sameen only rolled her eyes at the started listing of dinner guests "Already knew those two idiots were showing up." Shaw reminded with only a flash of a smirking smile when Root's knee dropped back onto the bed for balance as Shaw's rough hands finish pushing the hacker's chosen bra out of her way under the separating layers of Root's clothes.

"The boys." Root continues now mirroring Shaw is laying on her side among the rumpled sheets covering the bed. Considering Shaw was attempting a habit of touch since Samaritan's final ending Root was greedy for every second of offered closeness. Even if that meant that now she was risking not finding more of the new additions to her shopping list for the pair's latest additions to that night's dinner guests.

"Great the nerd squad." Shaw sighed as she settled back over her giggling hacker. Her knees bracket Root's hips as Shaw gently ease the zipper of Root's jacket back down.

"They're not that bad sweetie." Root sighs in defense tracing her hands up the braced one Shaw was resting against her shoulder for balance.

"Maybe not," Shaw relents letting the jacket fall open with what only Root knew to be an honest attempt at a smile when Shaw noticed the shirt Root had decided on for her early morning errand. Her scowl quickly returned at Root's more playful whistling of the first few notes of the 'X files' theme as the 'They Exist' tee shirt was dropped back to the ground beside the bed.

"So, if Danny boy is showing up for this, that means she's coming too?" Shaw questions after a few beats of quiet consisting of Root's allowance of Shaw's unspoken wanting to run her hands over every soft inch of her upper body. Another regular occurrence after the pair had found one another again after Samaritan's defeat. The need not so much a sexual nature but more reassurance on Shaw's part of her preferred 'internal parasite' continued existence to make her life just a bit more bearable between the slowing list of numbers to tolerate and protect.

"Would that be a problem, sweetie?" Root questioned considering the She they were now talking about.

"No." Shaw snaps

"Sameen." Root sighed her heart breaking all over again when she notices the way Shaw's hand lifted to rub roughly at the space behind her ear the simulations had coded the 'chip' to be inserted.

"What should I care your not-so-dead best friend shows up to thanksgiving dinner." Shaw growls angrier with herself than with Root when she notices the action as well.

"Shaw." Root says earning the other woman's attention at once. Root hardly ever called her by her last name during these rather intimate moments between them. Not even in the simulations.

Root's hand reaches up to clasp with Shaw's own. the hacker's thumb brushed against the now red-rubbed spot behind Shaw's ear before bringing the couple's now-held hands back to rest against the bed beside Root's head.

"Don't you have whatever to go get before dinner?" Shaw questions wanting to postpone whatever speech she could see writing itself behind her hacker's dark eyes. "You go do that and I'll start on making what we already have edible."

"Sweetie, if you don't want them to come over….."

"I didn't say that." Shaw countered "Besides Reese wanted a second opinion on the stitches that hack doctor gave him." She goes on the comment earning a concerned whimper from Bear still listening in from the apartment living room.

Root smiles at that but Shaw was already rolling her eyes as she stands beside the bed. "Yeah, yeah you like when I play doctor." Shaw huffed her hand outstretched in offering to the hacker still laying on it.

"No thanks, sweetie." Root decides stretching out more along the bed like a cat in the sunlight. "I'm comfy here," she smiles.

"Whatever, Root." Shaw sighs already pulling her hair back as she spoke "but if you're staying mind keeping our dog out of the kitchen while I'm cooking?"

Bear gives a hungry whimper at this licking his lips expectantly as his eyes look between Shaw and the kitchen in anticipation.

"Think so?" Shaw asked her tone more playful now as her eyes held her dogs.

The dog gives another low hum in answer. Licking his lips once more as he laid his head on his paws earning a grinned "Good boy" from Shaw.

Root sighs low and long at the back and forth as she sits up from the bed. "Alright, Sam." The hacker breathes as she stands and rezips her jacket in one motion. "Come on buddy, lets leave Sweetie to her work."

Bear huffs but jumps from the sofa easily enough as Root makes the quick cross from the bedroom to the door.

"Root."

The hacker pauses in the act of clipping on Bear's leash at the sound of her name. "Sweetie?"

Shaw shifts warily from her place now framed in the doorway of the apartment's kitchen before she finds her voice. "Bring back some cinnamon alright? For the pie recipe, you wanted to try."

Root smiles at the asking. From Shaw, it's as good as an actual 'stay safe.' Or 'I love you' considering it involved an actual request for her return to the pair's shared apartment.

"Sure, thing Sameen." Root nodes her leash free hand first checking the lay of the taser tucked into her waistband then moving to rest against the handle of the front door.
