I was six weeks old when my parents abandoned me. They left me at a church, a small church that others called Saint Maries Church.
It was a wonderful place and everyone was chill. Then I was adopted by a wonderful family and they brought me to Paris.
"You're going to love your new home, as well as your father and brother," said a kind woman, her new mom. She was a blonde beauty with gorgeous green eyes.
Marissa nodded. "I can't wait to meet them." She pushed back her black hair. The 10 year old was very pretty, even her sky blue eyes and fair skin and the beauty mark under her lip on the left made her even more lovely. "You're really nice, miss Emilie."
"Please, call me mom. After all, we're family now," said her mother as the plane came closer.
"Attention, passengers, we'll soon be landing in the Royal Jewels Airport Paris, France. Please raise your service trays," said the pilot.
"Oh good! We're almost there!" Emilie happily said as she put up her tray. "Your father and brother will be greeting us at the gate when we land, honey."
The young girl smiled as she put up her tray. The plane finally landed and she and her mother got up and grabbed their carry-on bags. After they left the plane, Emilie saw a man with brown hair and a boy with blonde hair waiting at the gate. The boy had a present in his hands. The girl recognized them from the photo.
"Gabriel! Adrien!" Emilie called.
"Welcome home, Emilie, my love," said the man as he kissed her. And then he smiled at the girl. "And so nice to see you, Marissa. Adrien, this is your new sister."
The boy approached her and said, "Welcome to our family, sister. Here's a gift."
Marissa accepted the gift and opened it. Her face lit up at the adorable gray stuffed bunny. She hugged it looking very happy.
"You've been through a lot, but it's over now," said Gabriel. "Let's get the rest of the luggage and then go home."
After gathering the other suitcases from the carousel, the family went to a waiting car and drove away.
Marissa admired the city as they went. It was all so beautiful. Emilie even explained everything to her and Adrien asked a lot of questions about America. When they finally arrived at home, Marissa was amazed at the size of the house, well, mansion. Once they parked, a woman with dark hair and glasses met them.
"Welcome home, Mr. Agreste, Mrs. Agreste, Adrien," she said in a serious manner. She noticed the girl. "I assume this is the girl that you adopted."
"Yes. She is our daughter, Marissa," said Gabriel. "Marissa, this is my assistant, Nathalie."
"She's the best," said Emilie with a smile. A muscular man came to them. "Do you mind taking Marissa's bags to her room while we show her around?"
He nodded and picked up the bags. After that, Marissa's family brought her inside.
"I'm sure you've heard by now, Marissa, what I do for a career. I often work in my office over there," Gabriel explained. "I don't want to seem like a stiff, but I'm afraid you're not permitted to play in there. But, don't worry, the rest of the house is very roomy."
"Over here is the lounge," said Emilie as she showed a room with a few tables and couches. "We have nice parties in here, but we also relax here. The bedrooms are upstairs. And over there is the kitchen."
"Your room is right this way," said Gabriel as they took Marissa upstairs.
They turned to the left side and opened a door. The room had a canopy bed with pink sheets and light blue drapes, a beautiful dresser, and a walk-in closet. The room even had its own bathroom. All in all, the room was practically fit for a princess.
"Thank you." She smiled at him.
"You're very welcome," said Gabriel.
"Mr. Agreste, you have a phone call from Audrey Bourgeois," said Nathalie.
"Tell her I'll be right there," said Gabriel.
"Go ahead, dear. I'd like to take our girl shopping," said Emilie as she hugged Marissa.
"Okay. I'll be there for dinner," said Gabriel as he left.
"Sorry. Your father's job can be demanding," said Emilie.
Marissa nodded. She kept the gentle smile as they walked together. "It's fine, I understand."
"Now, enough of that. Let's get you some clothes for your new closet," said Emilie. "Adrien, why don't you come with us? We'll grab ice cream."
"Okay!" Adrien happily said as they got in the car.
Emilie took Marissa to a "Gabriel" store and picked out some nice clothes for her to try on. Marissa looked beautiful in every dress and clothing set she tried on. Even strangers commented on her.
"Are these both your children?" A woman asked, referring to both Adrien and Marissa.
"Yes, they are," Emilie happily said.
"Well, they're both just dolls," she said.
"Your girl has such beautiful shiny hair," said another woman.
"Thank you," said Emilie.
"Such a pair of angels," a third said.
"Adrikins!" A blonde girl cheered as she hugged Adrien from behind. "How nice to see you!"
"Hi, Chloe," said Adrien, smiling awkwardly.
"And what brings you here, Andre?" Emilie asked the girl's father.
"Just doing a little shopping," the man said. And then he saw Marissa. "Oh! And who's this lovely girl? Is she a staff members' daughter?"
"She's my daughter, actually," said Emilie.
"She's your sister?" The girl asked Adrien while looking at Marissa. "No offense, Adrikins, but since when do your relatives have hair like charcoal?"
"Since recently. And it's not charcoal, it's a beautiful raven-like color." Adrien frowned.
"Exactly," said Emilie as she held her. "Gabriel and I wanted a daughter after Adrien was born, but didn't have much luck conceiving. So we adopted this angel from a church in America. Marissa, this is Andre Bourgeois, Audrey's husband and a friend of ours. The girl is his daughter, Chloe."
Marissa hid behind Adrien. "Adrien, can we go? She seems mean. She called my hair charcoal."
Adrien looked up at Emilie and asked, "Mom, can we?"
"Okay, honey. I'll go pay at the register and then we'll leave," said Emilie.
Adrien nodded and took Marissa elsewhere.
Emilie looked at the little girl Chloe. "You know if you mistreat his sister he may not wanna play with you anymore. Just because she's adopted doesn't mean she's anyless his sister." She paid for the items.
Chloe was speechless as they left. She looked at Adrien and his expression confirmed what Emilie said. He looked disappointed in her.
Marissa was then taken to an ice cream place and allowed to pick whatever she wanted. She received even more compliments about her hair and eyes. It was a great day for Marissa.
-that night-
Everyone sat down for dinner and Gabriel asked about the day.
"Well, Marissa met Chloe," said Emilie.
"Really?" Gabriel asked as he cut his steak. "How did it go?"
"I don't like her." Marissa said, rubbing her eyes. Marissa ate her food.
"Yeah. She was rude. She called her hair charcoal," said Adrien.
"That's preposterous!" Gabriel said. "Marissa's hair is as beautiful as a lovely raven."
"That's true," said Emilie. "Marissa was even offered a chance to try out for a spot in a children's shampoo ad."
"Well, I don't blame them," said Gabriel. "But enough about that. Marissa, next week we're expecting visitors. Your aunt Amilie, your uncle Colt, and your cousin Felix. And, Adrien, you and Felix had better not play that joke on her."
"We won't. I promise," Adrien innocently said.
"I'm serious," said Gabriel. "You boys may think it's funny, but she might think you're both picking on her."
Emilie laughed and said, "I better explain. Amilie is my identical twin sister and our son's are also identical."
"I've never had trouble with boys. Most ask me out the moment they meet me." Marissa said with a cute smile.
Gabriel looked stunned. "Please don't mock me."
Emilie laughed and said, "You wanted a daughter as much as I did, it comes with the territory. Anyway, Marissa, the joke that your father was talking about is that Felix and Adrien sometimes like to pretend to be each other. I swear, it's almost impossible to tell them apart if they do that!"
Marissa tilted her head. "oh big brother wouldn't do that to me would he?"
"Felix might, though. He's a troublemaker," said Gabriel.
"Gabriel!" Emilie scolded her husband.
"You know it's true, Emilie," said Gabriel. "Your sister spoils that boy."
"Papa, when's your birthday?" Marissa asked changing the subject.
"It's on the same day as the visit," said Gabriel. "That's why they're coming."
"Oh I'll make you a gift." Marissa said. "The nuns would give us paint to express ourselves. I'll paint you a picture."
"That sounds lovely," Gabriel praised her.
She smiled.
"How did you feel about the shampoo ad suggestion?" Adrien curiously asked.
"I'll do it if mama and dada really want me to." Marissa cutely said.
"I'll take you on the day," said Emilie. "But if you don't like it, I won't do it again. First, I'll get you the paints and supplies tomorrow for your father's present."
Marissa pulled out a notebook and sketched her father after finishing her food.
"I heard you had artistic talent," said Gabriel.
Marissa showed him her sketch. She hoped he liked it. Gabriel looked at the sketch as if scanning it. He smiled and returned it to her.
"You're a true artist," said Gabriel. "I think it would be appropriate to hone these skills."
"Thank you, Papa," said Marissa.
-next week on Gabriel's birthday -
The Agreste family and their guests were enjoying the evening together. Felix came out wearing the same shirt as Adrien.
"Felix, what are you doing?" Adrien asked him.
"I'm gonna see if your new sister can tell us apart," he said, snickering. "I bet she can't."
"Don't even dream about it," Adrien said. And then he saw her. "You better change now."
"Not happening," said Felix, and then he walked up to her as she was carrying a covered painting. "Hey, Marissa. Do you need some help with that?"
"Uh……sure Felix I'm guessing?" Marissa asked, confused. Honestly she noticed he seemed different from Adrien. It was little things but the difference was enough for her to tell.
"No, you got it all wrong, little sister. I'm Adrien," said Felix, trying to convince her.
"No offense but your Adrien impression would be more convincing if I didn't know how he was like. you have big differences from him little to others but big to me." Marissa looked downstairs. "Adrien, if you actually would like to help could you grab the painting?"
"Sure," the real Adrien said as he grabbed the other end and walked with her. "You're good. Most people can't tell us apart right away when we dress and style ourselves the same."
"You have different mannerisms, it's a dead give away for me."
"They never fool me. I know my Adrikins anywhere," Chloe bragged.
"I was only joking, Chloe. I'm Felix," said Adrien.
"Oh my gosh! Seriously?!" Chloe said in panic. "I got my Adrikins mixed up again?!"
Adrien started laughing and said, "Chloe, that was the joke. Marissa guessed us right."
"What? Why, Adrikins?" Chloe asked, sounding hurt.
"Payback for being mean to my sister," said Adrien. And then he carried the painting to his parents. "Father, here's Marissa's gift."
Marissa whispered to Adrien. "So why is Chloe here?"
"Her parents were invited and this is the first time she's seen her mom in a year," Adrien answered in a whisper.
"Great….." Marissa groaned not very happy.
"And what is this, Gabriel?" A blonde woman wearing sunglasses asked.
"A gift from my daughter," said Gabriel.
"I'm gonna go before she insults my gift." Marissa said walking off.
"My poor girl," Gabriel said as he uncovered the painting.
It was of Gabriel with butterflies in the corners the picture of him and his portrait had him looking off to the left. It looked almost like you could actually see him move. The forest and lighting was perfect and flowers were just as realistic.
"My word," Andre said in awe.
"How creepy," said Audrey. "Yet exceptional."
"This is extraordinary!" Amelie said, gushing. "Gabriel, your daughter is very talented!"
"You must be proud, Gabriel," a guest said.
"I am," said Gabriel.
"Sir, if your daughter can produce another piece, I would love to feature it in my gallery," another guest said.
"I'll be sure to talk to her," said Gabriel.
Adrien went to Marissa's room and said, "Sis, everyone's commenting on your gift. They think you're great! And Father loves it!"
She looked really happy. "That's great."
"Wanna come back? They're bringing out the cake soon," said Adrien.
"Alright." Marissa smiled, putting away her sketchbook.
They came in and Gabriel had the present up for everyone to see. The chef brought in the cake and started cutting it. Audrey started talking to Gabriel.
"Looks like you adopted a good one, Gabriel," she said. "I'm actually a little jealous."
"Mommy, I can draw too!" Chloe whined.
"Yes, stick figures," Audrey said without looking at Chloe.
"Ugh, that woman," Emilie said as she carried two plates. "Here you are, my darlings."
"It's kinda nice I have such a high metabolism; I never have to worry about gaining a lot of weight." Marissa said, eating the food.
"It's really good!" Adrien said as he ate his piece of cake.
Gabriel approached his daughter and said, "A gallery owner told me that he would be pleased to display your next piece."
She looked surprised. "Really?" She smiled happily.
"Of course," said Gabriel.
"Everyone, a toast to my dear Gabriel," said Emilie. And then she kissed him on the cheek. "Happy birthday, my love."
"To Gabriel," said the guests as they raised their glasses.
"Thank you. And to the newest addition to our family, our daughter Marissa," Gabriel said as he raised his glass.
"Marissa!" Everyone replied.
She smiled again. She took a long moment looking through some of the crowd. Today, for her was a great day and she was happy to have a new family.
-4 years later -
It has been 4 years since she was brought to her family and things had changed. Marissa had had several paintings featured in Parisian art galleries and Adrien had started modeling for their father's brand. However, during these past years, Emilie suddenly disappeared. Neither she nor Adrien knew where she went or what happened. They naturally asked Gabriel where she was, but he knew nothing.
Gabriel seemed to be going out less since then and did not allow his children to attend school. Adrien hated being stuck at home and wanted to change that.
"I've made up my mind, sis," he said. "I'm going to school whether Father likes it or not."
"If that's what you want I'm gonna go bring dad some food." Marissa said in a calm tone.
"Don't you wanna go too?" Adrien asked.
"Right now I just wanna keep dad coming to the table. I've barely convinced him to let us have birthday parties and to come to dinner. I'm the only one keeping him from avoiding dinner and lunch all together."
"If you say so. Just don't mention that I'm going," said Adrien as he left.
"I won't." Marisa took the eggs from the kitchen and placed the toast before heading to her father's office.
Adrien quickly went out the door and started running to the high school. At the same time, Marissa was bussing some food to the office. She went to the door and knocked.
At first there was no answer. She knocked again, still no answer. She knocked a third time. When nothing happened yet again she was about to knock once more when the door opened and her father was there. His hair was lighter than the day of her adoption and he now wore glasses instead of his old contacts.
"Sorry, Marissa. I was in the zone," he said. "Please come in."
She walked in and handed him the food. "Here you go. I made some breakfast."
"Thank you, dear," said Gabriel as he accepted the food. "I hope Adrien's keeping up his studies."
"Yeah it seems so." Marissa smiled. "I know you're sad because mom went missing but you need to start going out again wouldn't she want that."
She looked at a painting she has made of her mother she gave a sad look
"I hear you," said Gabriel. "I'm just trying to keep my family safe. I wish your brother would understand that instead of acting like I'm the enemy."
"Yes but you're not going out."
Gabriel sighed and smiled. "Marissa, how do you always know how to get to my soft side?"
"Because I'm like mom." Marissa remarked with a gentle smile.
"Yes, you are," said Gabriel as he hugged her. He saw Nathalie leaving with the bodyguard. "Isn't Nathalie supposed to be tutoring Adrien?"
"Yes I wonder what that's about?" Marissa said confused. Or tried to seem it at least.
"He better not be doing something behind my back," said Gabriel. "Marissa, what's going on?"
"No clue."
"Marissa," Gabriel sternly said. "Nevermind, I'll know soon enough. And I'll deal with it."
Marissa shrugged. "I'll be in my room if you find out what's going on." She left for her room.
"I won't force her to tell on her brother," said Gabriel. And then he went into his secret room. "Now. Let's make use of your power, Nooroo. Dark wings rise!"
-later-
Adrien was back home with Nathalie quizzing him when Gabriel walked in.
"You are NOT to go to school. I already told you," he sternly said.
Adrien immediately realized Nathalie told him and protested. "But, Father!"
"Everything you need is right here where I can keep an eye on you. I will not have you outside in that dangerous world," Gabriel said.
"It's not dangerous, Father. I'm always stuck in here by myself with just Marissa. Why can't I go to school and make friends just like everyone else? Why can't she?" Adrien argued.
"Because you two are not like everyone else, you are my children!" Gabriel said. "Continue with your lesson."
On that cheerful note, Gabriel left. Adrien simply stormed off to his room and shut the door. It opened a little bit after.
"Go away, Nathalie!" Adrien called.
"It's your sister," said Marissa.
"Oh. Sorry," said Adrien. "Come on in."
"I didn't tell on you but if it helps you're not wrong." Marissa said in a gentle tone.
"I know you didn't tell. Nathalie's expression told me it was her," said Adrien. "And thanks."
They suddenly heard a noise from outside and ran out. They saw a giant stone creature stomping around Paris.
"Oh my god!" Adrien said. He grabbed his sister's hand and pulled her inside as the police attacked the monster.
"Okay, that was really freaky," said Marissa.
"It sure was," said Adrien. "I'm gonna follow it on the news."
She nodded. "If you want this is terrifying though."
Adrien ran into his room and turned on his TV and watched as the news covered it. He had his sister sit with him and held her hand.
"Don't worry, sis. It's going in a specific direction, it won't come here," said Adrien, hoping to calm his sister.
She nodded. She hugged him in sleep on the couch.
"That's better," he said as he set her down. And then he saw something on his table. "What's this doing here?"
-hours later-
Marissa woke up just in time to catch a different news story. The stone being called Stoneheart was defeated and turned out to actually be a teenage boy. The people who restored him were a pair of heroes.
"We will be having a big celebration for Paris' new superheroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir!" The mayor said on TV. She also smelled something funny.
"What's that smell?" She asked.
Adrien looked embarrassed as he held up some cheese. "Camembert?"
"Oh is it good." Marissa said in a calm tone.
"It kinda stinks," said Adrien, rubbing his neck. "So, did you see that coverage about Ladybug? She's really pretty, huh?"
The camera showed a photo of a dark haired girl dressed in a red bodysuit with black polka dots, a matching mask, and red ribbons in her hair. Next to her was a blonde boy wearing a black bodysuit, black fake cat ears, gloves with cat claws, a belt for a tail, black boots, and a black mask.
"He's cute. Wonder if he'd ask me out."
Adrien went stiff. "I didn't know you were into vigilante types."
"I mean he's really cute and seems really kind…I mean we're not biologically related either so if you liked a girl who looked a little like me I wouldn't be stiffing." Marissa cutely remarked.
"I just didn't see that coming is all," Adrien said, laughing. "And What are you talking about? He doesn't look like me. Does he?"
"Yeah he does. It's cute." Marissa remarked. "Anyway don't worry I only see you as my brother Cat Noir is my soulmate."
"Well, let's see if we can learn who he is," said Adrien. "Hey, wanna join me in giving school another shot?"
"I don't know. I guess I can try but I really don't want to deal with Chloe."
"Okay. You don't have to if you don't want to," said Adrien. "I'll drop you a line if I see Cat Noir, though."
She thought about it for a moment. "I wanna sit next to you."
"Okay. Go get your bag from your room," said Adrien.
She went over to get her bag. She caught a news report about stone beings and got the feeling that the heroes would show up soon. This motivated her to go along with this.
Marissa and Adrien used a short cut through the park and arrived at school just as Nathalie arrived.
"Adrien, please reconsider! And now you've roped Marissa into it!" Nathalie said.
"Just tell him you didn't get here in time," said Adrien as they went inside.
Marissa took a long moment as she walked with her brother hugging him. Adrien smiled at her.
"How could you say that to Ivan?! You're the real Stoneheart!" A girl with glasses barked at a familiar blonde girl.
She was taller and she was wearing what one might assume is too much makeup, but Adrien knew perfectly well who it was. It was none other than Chloe Bourgeois
"Ugh, so I'm the one who broke Sabrina's dad's arm, am I? Just because your footage of those lame superheroes was shown on TV, doesn't mean you have to get so high and mighty," Chloe mocked the other girl and blew gum in her face
"You little…." The other girl growled.
"Look out, she's angry! She's going to split her underwear and turn into a huge muscly monster!" Chloe said, laughing, and the other girl stormed off.
Adrien quickly took Marissa and made a beeline for the principal's office. There, they got their class schedules, which were thankfully together.
"Oh my gosh, are you Adrien, the model?" a girl asked on the way to class.
"And you're Marissa, the artist!" Another kid said in excitement.
"We're just here to go to class like everyone else. Let's go, Marissa," said Adrien.
Marissa nodded.
Adrien and Marissa went to their classroom and Adrien was hugged.
"Adrikins! You came!" Chloe happily said. She stood next to a seat up from. "This is your seat, right front of me."
"Thanks," Adrien said as he went to it. He saw a guy sitting in the seat next to it. "Hi, I'm Adrien. This is Marissa."
Marissa frowned.
"You're friends with Chloe, huh?" The guy asked in annoyance.
"I'm not." Marissa muttered. "Also Chloe it looks like we can't sit here."
"Why?" A girl with red hair and glasses asked.
"Only one seat and, brother promised to sit with me. You didn't do this on purpose did you?"
"I was actually under the impression that you weren't coming, seeing as you're such a daddy's girl," said Chloe as she took out her gum. "I was pretty sure you'd be just as much a homebody as he is now."
"Wow Chloe you seem to forget what happened last time you insulted me," said Marissa.
"It's more like an observation," said Chloe as she gave the other girl her gum.
"Really last time I checked I made a painting for your mother and what was the words she used 'beyond impressive'. has she ever complimented you?"
Chloe growled while the other girl put gum on the chair in the next row.
"Chloe, if you think I'm gonna let you insult me and just gonna walk away you're mistaken I'll give you just as much as you give. Come Adrien let's sit in the back obviously she doesn't want either of us."
"But, what is that gum for?" Adrien asked Chloe. "That better not have been for Marissa!"
"It wasn't. The brats who sat here before need to be taught a lesson," said Chloe. "I'm just commanding a little respect is all."
Marissa sighed and went to remove it.
"Is that really necessary?" Adrien asked Chloe.
"Ah, you've got a lot to learn about school culture, Adrikins. Watch the master," Chloe said as she sauntered over to her seat.
Adrien rolled his eyes at her as he started looking for a tissue. He then saw two girls enter the classroom. One was the glasses girl who was yelling at Chloe and the other was a girl with pigtails.
Marissa was trying to remove the gum the best she could. Though she was grossed out by it being Chloes.
"What are you doing?!" The pigtails girl shouted.
"It wasn't her!" Adrien quickly said.
"I was removing Chloe's gum from your seat." Marissa crossed her arms.
The pigtails girl looked at the seat and got grossed out. Chloe and her glasses friend laughed their butts off.
"Chloe, I hate you!" Marissa angrily said.
"Great prank, Chloe," the pigtailed girl angrily said. "Thanks for trying, Miss."
"That's it! Adrien, I'm tired of Chole. I'm telling dad to never let her in the house ever again." Marissa ran off.
"Marissa!" Adrien called after her. He glared at Chloe. "Do you have even a little shame?"
"Why does she even care about that loser?" Chloe asked uncaringly.
Adrien went to get his sister and the kid he met upon arrival followed him.
"Is your sister gonna be okay?" The guy asked.
"I don't know," said Adrien. "She never liked Chloe and, frankly, I never liked how Chloe treated her and other people. Unfortunately, Chloe was one of the few people I actually had to call a friend."
"Then you need some new friends, dude," said the guy. "I'm Nino."
"Great to meet you, Nino," Adrien happily said. He found Marissa. "Marissa! There you are."
"You had your bro really worried, dudette," said Nino.
"I'm just sick and tired of Chloe," Marissa said.
"You and everyone else in our class," said Nino. "A bunch of us have been in the same school as Chloe for years. That girl with pigtails, Marinette, is Chloe's favorite punching bag. But we can't really do anything about it because her dad's the mayor."
"I'm not doing this for a year, Adrien. I can't deal with her treating everyone like crap, me included."
"I'm sorry, Marissa," said Adrien as he hugged her.
"How about I show you where the nurse is?" Nino offered. "You can call for a ride home there."
"She may be the mayor's daughter but if she continues Adrien I'm asking dad to ban her from you and let Nino come over." Marissa said walking to the nurses office. "She's on very thin ice."
"She certainly is," said Adrien. "I'm gonna make sure that girl, Marinette, is okay too. I'll be right back."
Marissa nodded as she entered the nurses office.
"Are you feeling alright, dear?" The nurse asked. She was a nice woman with a kind smile.
"Not really can you call my dad." Marissa said sadly.
"Oh dear. It's that girl Chloe, isn't it?" The nurse said in concern as she looked at her file. "I swear, that girl is just too much. Oh, Agreste. Like Gabriel Agreste?"
"Yes," Marissa said.
"I should've realized. I'll call your dad right away," the nurse said. She dialled the number and spoke to the person who answered. "Hello, may speak with Mr. Gabriel Agreste? It's the nurse at Francis Dupont high school. His daughter isn't doing well. Okay. Thank you."
"It was Nathalie, wasn't it?" Marissa asked.
"It was," said the nurse. "She said she's going to pass the message on to your father and come straight here to get you."
Suddenly, they heard stomping. Both Marissa and the nurse went to the door to see what was going on and looked shocked by the sight of Stoneheart.
"Mylene. I'm coming for you Mylene," Stoneheart said as he went to the upper floor.
"Get inside!" The nurse said as she pushed the girl inside the office. "Keep away from the door. I'm calling the police."
They heard a loud crash and Marissa looked out the door and saw several students screaming and running. Marissa came out in time to catch the glasses girl who was helping Chloe with the gum prank.
"What's going on?" Marissa asked her.
"Ivan got turned into that monster again! He took Mylene and Chloe!" The girl screamed.
"Help!" A girl's voice screamed. It must have been Mylene. "Ivan, let us go!"
"You have no idea who you're dealing with. My daddy, the mayor, will bring in the police, the army, the entire cavalry!" Chloe shouted.
"And don't forget about the superheroes!" a male voice shouted. Marissa's eyes lit up as she saw Cat Noir. He caught sight of Marissa and waved at her.
She waved back, gushing over the hero. He was so cute and handsome.
Cat Noir hit Stoneheart with his staff. Unfortunately, the impact made Stoneheart get bigger.
"Oops," he said, embarrassed.
"Ugh. Super incompetent, you mean," said Chloe.
"You wanted the cavalry, you got it!" Stoneheart shouted as more stone beings came running. "Seize him!"
The stone beings charged at Cat Noir and he had to jump to avoid them. The glasses girl was looking around with her phone ready.
"Come on, Ladybug. Where are you when I need you?" Cat Noir called.
"Go Cat Noir! I believe in you!" Marissa shouted.
Cat Noir smiled at Marissa. And then he went back to fighting.
"Where is she?" The other girl asked.
As the stone beings attacked Cat Noir, he saw a stone being going for Marissa.
"Look out!" He screamed as he ran and pushed her out of the way. He was suddenly grabbed by it. "Let go, you rock head!"
"Hang on!" A girl's voice called and Ladybug swung in and tripped the stone being, making it drop Cat Noir. "You okay, Cat Noir?"
"Yeah. What about the girl?" He asked, and then rushed to Marissa. "Are you hurt?"
"No I'm fine are you?" Marissa asked, concerned.
"Yeah. I'm a tough guy," said Cat Noir while flexing his muscles. "I recognize you. You're Marissa Agreste, I'm familiar with your artwork."
She blushed. "Really that's so cool."
"You should get somewhere safe. We're gonna go save those girls," said Ladybug.
"Ok." Marissa said in a gentle tone, hugging herself and running off.
"She seems nice," said Ladybug with a smile.
"Take my word, she is," said Cat Noir.
"Okay. Now let's go," said Ladybug as they took off.
Marissa sat in the nurse's office and watched the news coverage on her phone. Stoneheart was even bigger than before. In his hands were Chloe and another girl, she guessed Mylene, and standing on the Eiffel Tower. Andre Bourgeois, the mayor, demanded that Stoneheart return his daughter and Stoneheart threw Chloe. Marissa looked nervous until Ladybug saved her.
After Chloe was saved, Stoneheart opened his mouth and a swarm of dark butterflies flew out and formed the shape of a man's head. He then spoke.
"People of Paris, listen carefully. I am Hawk Moth," he said.
Marissa snuck away, going to capture one of the butterflies. She managed to get a lift to the Eiffel Tower and she snuck closer as he kept talking.
"Ladybug, Cat Noir, give me the ladybug earrings and the cat ring now. You've done enough damage to these innocent people!" he said.
Ladybug clapped slowly and walked up to the swarm. Luckily for Marissa, Ladybug did not see her.
"Nice try, Hawk Moth, but we know who the bad guy is. Let's not reverse the roles here. Without you, none of these innocent victims would be transformed into villains. Hawk Moth, no matter how long it takes, we will find you, and YOU will hand us YOUR Miraculous!" Ladybug declared. Ladybug got her yoyo ready.
Marissa quickly caught a butterfly and trapped it in a jar. Ladybug started swiping at the rest. And then she looked at the people.
"Let me make this promise to you. No matter who wants to harm you, Ladybug and Cat Noir will do everything in our power to keep you safe!" Ladybug declared.
The people cheered for the heroes.
Marissa hid the butterfly and stuck it in her bag before heading down. As she went, she saw the heroes going after Stoneheart.
"You'll never take Mylene away from me! Come to me, stone beings!" Stoneheart shouted.
The stone beings came to take out Ladybug and Cat Noir to stop them from stopping Stoneheart. Marissa watched as Ladybug received a parachute from her yoyo. Suddenly, Ladybug and Cat Noir went after Stoneheart and made him kiss Mylene.
In his shock, Stoneheart dropped Mylene along with a crumpled paper. Ladybug broke it and then caught the butterfly. However, her excitement was short lived as she had to rescue Mylene and Stoneheart, now back to Ivan.
Thankfully, Ladybug and Cat Noir managed to save them as they fell. Ladybug released the butterflies, which were now white.
"Miraculous ladybug!" Ladybug said as she threw the parachute and a swarm of ladybugs flew around the city.
Marissa looked impressed.
"Are you seeing this?!" Cat Noir asked.
"Yep."
"Yeah. It's beautiful and amazing. It's… uh… miraculous!" Ladybug excitedly said. And then she looked at Marissa. "What are you doing here? It was dangerous before."
"And I'm fine." Marissa walked off.
"Hold on!" Cat Noir said, stopping her. "It was really nice to meet you officially."
"You too." Marissa smiled.
"I have a little time before I change back. How about a lift? Anywhere you wanna go," Cat Noir offered.
"Hum about a rooftop? I'd love to sit and watch the sky with you a bit." Marissa suggested.
"You got it. Seeya, Ladybug," said Cat Noir as he picked up Marissa and leapt away with her.
"Bug out!" Ladybug said as she swung away.
-with Cat Noir and Marissa -
Cat Noir sat on the rooftop with Marissa by his side. They watched the sky together and she leaned on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry that you had to deal with a villain attacking Paris," said Cat Noir.
"It's alright, today was worth it."
"Yeah. It sure was," said Cat Noir. "Hey, if you have your phone, we can take a selfie."
Marissa smiled happily and took out her phone. She stood next to Cat Noir and held her phone up. Both of them smiled and she took the picture. The two of them admired the picture until they heard a beep. Cat Noir checked his ring and saw that he was missing two paw pads.
"Looks like I only have three minutes until I change back to my regular self," said Cat Noir. "I should go."
"Alright kitty thanks for the great day." She
kissed Cat Noir's cheek goodnight before leaving.
Cat Noir blushed and smiled at her before leaving. He landed on the ground just in time to turn into Adrien.
"So, two love interests in one day?" a tiny floating cat asked in a teasing manner.
"Shut up, Plagg!" Adrien said before leaving.
-next day-
Adrien and Marissa were driven to school and Gabriel was with them.
"Take a good look at the school," said Gabriel. The two looked at the building. "You will never, I say, never go back there again…"
"Father, no….." Adrien said, but was interrupted.
"Without your bodyguard," Gabriel finished. "He will drop you off and pick you up every day. Nathalie has offered to organize you a new schedule. You'll be continuing your music, Chinese, and fencing classes and your photoshoots. And Marissa will be continuing her art, music, and martial arts. And, Marissa, if Miss Bourgeois bullies you or gets out of line, please contact me."
"Thank you, Father!" Adrien happily said.
"Thank you, papa." Marissa smiled.
"Let's go," said Adrien as he took her hand. "I'll look out for you."
The two entered the school and saw Marinette and her friend with glasses enter at the same time as Nino. Marinette and her friend were about to sit up front when Marinette stopped her friend and had her move with her to the section behind Nino. Nino got up and greeted Adrien and Marissa.
"How about you two take this spot?" Nino said as he gestured to his previous spot. "Miss Bustier wants me up front, so I'll sit in the next one."
"Really? Thank you." Marissa happily said as she sat down.
"Sorry I didn't explain before," said Nino, scratching his neck.
Marissa smiled as she and Adrien sat next to each other. "Thanks."
"Welcome to our school," said Marinette. "I'm Marinette."
"And I'm Alya," said her friend.
"Nice to meet you," said Marissa.
Chloe and her friend, whome Adrien learned was named Sabrina, entered. They looked surprised at Marinette and Alya.
"Uhh… You're in the wrong seat. Go on, get lost!" Chloe said to the two friends.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is that good people do nothing!" Marinette declared.
"Oh! Majestia!" Marissa happily said, recognizing the reference.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Chloe asked, not getting the reference.
Marinette stood up and said, "It means that I'm not putting up with your crud anymore, Chloé, and neither is anyone else around here. So take your attitude and go on, get lost!"
Chloe looked appalled by this while everyone else laughed, including Marissa. She growled as she went to find another seat. Sadly, there was only the back row for her and Sabrina to share, so they were forced to go to the back.
"Can't say I feel bad about it," said Adrien.
"Me neither." Marissa remarked.
"You guys don't sound like you get along well with Chloe," said Marinette.
"We were friends when we were younger," said Adrien. "I didn't hangout with her as much when she started being mean to Marissa. We're hoping to widen our circle."
"Sure!" Marinette said with a smile. "I'm actually glad I got to meet the children of my fave fashion designer!"
Marissa smiled. Marissa took a long moment.
"Thanks for giving us a chance," said Adrien to Marinette. "It's nice to have new friends."
Marissa smiled.
A few months later
Marissa was working on her Cat Noir love. She had snuck along several different akuma battles and seen Cat Noir and Ladybug fighting many different bad guys. One such fight was against a girl called Stormy Weather; that particular fight inspired a new piece. This day was Adrien's birthday and Adrien had hoped to have a party with his friends.
Marissa was going to see if Adrien was up yet when she heard a voice in his room.
"Happy birthday, Adrien!" the unfamiliar voice said.
"Ugh! Plagg! Get that disgusting camembert out of my face!" Adrien replied in disgust.
"I really don't get what your problem is. Camembert is one of the most elegant and refined of all cheeses," the other voice said.
"Also the grossest smelling cheese," said Adrien. "Honestly, I don't see the appeal."
Marissa opened his door. "So I talked with dad and he said you could have a small party but Chloe can't come."
"Really?! Great!" Adrien happily said as he hugged her and a black dot flew away.
"8 people Adrien no more than 8," Marissa said.
"I'm pretty sure we have a decent number of kids in our class," said Adrien. "Though I know I'm eliminating Chloe."
"Dad said 8 he was having a tough time but he wants you to have fun but he doesn't want a lot of kids."
"That's all I ask," said Adrien. "Let's see. Nino, Marinette and Alya are good. That's 3. Rose seems fun, so that's 4. And she'll want Juleka, 5."
"I know one thing, it's gonna be hard choosing." Marissa remarked.
"How do I choose?" Adrien asked out loud.
Marissa sighed looking stressed herself.
"Breakfast," said Nathalie.
"I'm fine. Hey Nat I need to skip school to help dad with something."
"Of course," said Nathalie. "Adrien, have you thought about the guest list?"
"I've got three that I definitely want. But the others are tricky," Adrien confessed. "I'm worried about upsetting the others that don't get invited."
"I'm sure they'll understand if you explain that you're only allowed a few people," said Nathalie.
Adrien smiled at her. "Thanks."
"Now, Marissa, I'll make the call for school," said Nathalie.
She nodded before leaving for her fathers room.
"Okay. I think I've made up my mind," said Adrien. "I know what to do now."
After Adrien left, Nathalie went to call the school about Marissa and confirm that the gift for Adrien from Gabriel was ready; she was very thankful to Marissa for reminding her to get one. Marissa went to Gabriel's room.
"Hello, dear. I heard you're not going to school today," said Gabriel as he approached her. "Are you feeling unwell?"
"I was asked to do 5 paintings for a very large exhibition, I'm very stressed out."
"I see. Well, feel better, my child," said Gabriel as he touched her shoulder.
"It's just I'm afraid of failing and recently because of the Cat Noir blog people are calling my stuff….well."
"They don't appreciate it, I assume?" Gabriel asked.
She nodded.
Gabriel held her and said, "Don't be discouraged, my dear. Your art is amazing. There are those who will see that. Don't give up on yourself."
"Thanks, dad." Marissa smiled.
"You're welcome, Marissa," said Gabriel. "Now, I'm going to look over something. Get some rest."
Gabriel left the room and Marissa was left in the space.
Marissa smiled happily and began to paint. Her art work on Cat Noir and Ladybug. And then some of the normal people and those people walking across the streets and the eiffel tower in the background.
"Adrien isn't here right now," she heard her father say.
"Actually, I wanted to speak to you, Mr. Agreste," said Chloe's voice, making Marissa cringe.
"Oh really? What is it about?" Gabriel asked.
"Adrien was inviting people in our class to his birthday, the ones that weren't busy," said Chloe. "Oddly enough, I didn't make the cut. Is he mad at me or something?"
"In case you've forgotten, you aren't very nice to my daughter, Adrien's sister," said Gabriel. "I thought it wouldn't be appropriate for you to attend Adrien's party seeing as she will be there."
Chloe was silent for a moment, and then she spoke. "Well, I'm sending a gift over anyway," said Chloe. "I'm sure he'll love it. He might even forgive me."
"That's nice. Now please leave while I still have my patience," said Gabriel. Thankfully, Chloe did not push it.
Marissa came out and asked, "What's up with her?"
"I think she still thinks Adrien will want her back," said Gabriel.
"Ah makes sense maybe if she was nicer." Marissa remarked. Marissa rubbed her eye looking exhausted then she remembered something. "Oh papa, during the Hawkmoth event I got something."
"That sounds interesting. What is it?" Gabriel asked with interest.
She pulled out of her bag a Hawkmoth butterfly in a jar. "I thought I could paint it and give it to Ladybug when I'm done."
Gabriel looked at it in surprise. "You must be careful with it. Remember what one did to that classmate of yours."
"Yeah but it's in a jar it should be fine and yes I'm very stressed but it can't escape so it will be fine."
"Okay," said Gabriel. "I'm going to check on the preparations for Adrien's party."
"Alright." Marissa smiled as she picked up the jar and left.
"Hope we're not late!" Nino said as he arrived with Marinette and Alya.
"Nah you're not. Welcome, make yourselves at home." Marissa said, waving.
They put their gifts on a table. Marinette looked nervous as she placed hers. Nathalie snuck next to Marissa and cleared her throat.
"It happened again," she whispered.
Marissa looked at her. "What is it?"
"I got reminded to get a present from your father at the last minute," said Nathalie.
"There's a painting of Adrien I made just say I was asked to make it by father."
"Thank you," said Nathalie. "Wait. What about your gift to him?"
"It can be from both of us, hardly an issue."
"Good idea," said Nathalie. She saw some delivery guys coming in before the next guests. "I wonder what that could be. Can I help you gentlemen?"
"Yeah, a gift and party gram from Chloe Bourgeois for Adrien Agreste."
Marissa looked more stressed. As one started to sing in a very bad tone.
"What is that racket?!" Gabriel asked angrily.
"Chloe's party gram she sent." Marissa said, holding her ears as she started to have a mini panic attack from the building stress.
The car arrived and Adrien got out and everyone happily said, "Surprise! Happy birthday, Adrien!"
"Oh, you guys," said Adrien, bashful. And then he saw Marissa. "Oh my god. Are you okay?"
"The gift from Miss Bourgeois' came with a party gram and they sang horribly," said Gabriel.
"Oh, poor Marissa," Adrien said as he hugged her.
"This must be the birthday boy!" one of the singers said. "From the top, guys!"
"Don't you dare!" Marinette angrily yelled.
Unfortunately, the singers ignored her and started singing again. And they were just as terrible as before.
-Happy
Happy birthday!
Happy, happy birthday!
Happy, happy birthdayyyyyyyyy!
To you!
Happy birthday, Adrieeeeeennnnnnnn!!!!!!!-
Marissa got even more stressed.
"Wow, you guys suck," said Ivan.
"What do you know, punk?" one of the singers said.
"I appreciate it, but you fellows are stressing out my sister," said Adrien. "How about I just tip you guys?"
"Sorry, Miss Bourgeois paid for three songs," said the leader. "Next song!"
"Oh no," Adrien groaned.
Everyone cringed as they sang a horrible acapella cover of "Hakuna Matata". Obviously, Chloe had remembered that Adrien liked "The Lion King" and thought this was his favorite song; actually, his favorite song from the movie was "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" but he was not surprised Chloe forgot that. However, his main concern was his sister's growing stress.
"Hey! Cut it out!" he tried to shout over the singing, but Marissa ran away with her hands on her ears. "Marissa!"
Marissa hid in her room. Trying to get it to be quiet and taking deep breaths to calm down.
Gabriel felt terrible. He wanted to take that suffering away from her. He saw the akuma and decided that it might be helpful. He opened the jar and the butterfly flew out. And then he uncovered his miraculous.
"Nooroo, dark wings rise!" He said, and then became Hawkmoth. "Follow her stress, my akuma. Follow it so it may end."
The akuma made its way into her room and landed in the bunny toy that she was holding. It was the very same bunny that Adrien had given her the day she arrived. It often calmed her down.
"Do not fear me. I am here to help," a voice in her head said. "Lady Painless, I am Hawkmoth. I wish to free you from these stressful feelings that plague your heart."
"I don't need to get rid of them, I just need to calm down and I don't need your help to do so."
He was silent and then said, "Very well. I will respect your wishes, Marissa."
The akuma then left the bunny and started flying away.
She picked it up and cried into it. Gabriel opened the door and sat next to her.
"I'm sorry about all of this," he said as he hugged her.
"Its-sob-o-ok." She took a deep breath.
"You can stay in your room for a bit if you want to," said Gabriel. "I'll get rid of those horrid singers too. The guests are complaining as well as Adrien."
"Alright." Marissa took a deep breath as she crawled into bed.
"Oh, this came for you in the mail," Gabriel said as he gave her a small package. "Would you like me to pass a message along to Adrien from you?"
"Say I'm sorry for upsetting him.."
"I'm sure he's not upset with you," said Gabriel. "But I'll tell him how you're doing."
On that note, Gabriel left her alone in her room to rest. He was ready to give those people a piece of his mind.
As he went down he saw them finishing. He shouted. "Get out! I don't care that you were hired, you have bothered my daughter causing a panic attack and done more damage to her then others."
"You heard the man. Let's go!" The leader said as he and his guys fled.
"Good riddance," said Adrien. "How is she?"
"She's calmer. But she needs a bit better."
"Thank goodness," said Adrien. "I better check on her."
"No, she just needs space right now," said Gabriel. "It would actually make her happy if you enjoyed your birthday. She wanted me to tell you that she was sorry for upsetting you."
"Oh, Marissa," Adrien said. "Okay. I'll give her some time to calm down and then I'll bring her some cake."
Gabriel nodded and walked off to see over the small party. "The music for your friends will be playing if it gets too loud make sure to turn it down a bit I'll be here to make sure everyone is having a good time."
"No problem," said Adrien.
"I'll handle the music," said Nino.
"Alright." Adrien smiled.
Nino went to the turntables and started playing some music. As the music ramped up the kids looked like they were having fun. Dancing with each other and eating food.
"Marinette, Adrien's distracted. Now's your chance to sign your gift," said Alya.
"Oh! Right!" Marinette slipped to the office and grabbed a post-it and a pen. She wrote on it and stuck it on the present that she knew was from her. "Mission accomplished!"
"Okay, dudes and dudettes, I think this is a good time for the birthday dude to open his presents!" Nino said to everyone as he turned down the music.
Everyone walked up to the table. To sing happy birthday. Adrien smiled and then blew out the candles on his cake. As the cake was cut, Adrien started opening presents. He forced a smile at Chloe's gift. It was a crystal swan.
"I don't know what to tell her," he said.
"How about say what you think?" Nino suggested.
"She also sent a card."
Adrien opened the card and heard it speak.
Marissa came down at that moment.
"Adrikins, I'm sorry your horrible sister wouldn't let me come but know I'll always love you even if your sister ruins everything."
"I'm gonna kill her," said Adrien.
"Is….that true do I ruin everything."
Adrien froze. "No! It's not like that!"
Marissa ran back to her room in tears.
"Now I'm really gonna kill Chloe next time I see her," said Adrien. And then he ran after Marissa.
Marissa's room
She closed the door and locked it. "I hate Chloe. I hate her. I want her to suffer. I ruin everything right. I wish I could ruin her and make her feel everything I feel!" She said in anger and sorrow.
That was when the butterfly arrived. She looked at it and put out her bunny. "Hawk moth I don't want to be lady painless I want to make chole suffer!"
"That's why I'm here. I wanted to offer you a hand," said Hawk Moth. "Perhaps you could become the Punisher? Punish Chloe Bourgeois for her behavior."
"I will do so with pleasure, hawkmoth."
"Perfect. And you only have to get me the miraculous if the heroes arrive to stop you," said Hawk Moth.
"Very well," she was then covered in shadows.
Once the shadows cleared, Marissa looked different. She now had light blue skin and dark purple hair with red streaks. She wore a black bodysuit with long black gloves and boots. Her eyes opened to reveal that they had red and her bunny was black.
She growls. "It's time to punish Chloe."
Adrien knocked on her door and said, "Marissa? Are you in there? Look, don't pay any attention to what Chloe wrote in that card, it's not true."
She jumped out the window to deal with the situation.
"Marissa?" Adrien opened the door and found the room empty and the window open. "What the? Did she run away?"
He noticed the jar and he remembered the butterfly. It was gone.
"Oh boy. Looks like Hawk Moth got to her," said Plagg. "And now you have to fight your sister!"
"No, I have to save my sister!" Adrien declared. "Plagg, claws out!"
With the Punisher.
The Punisher slammed hard into Chloe's room. Chloe screamed at the top of her lungs and pulled out her phone.
"Help! I need security! There's a monster in my room!" She screamed.
She picked up the girl. "Your punishment is gonna be your mothers criticism in the mirror you go." Marissa tossed her and sent chole into a mirror inside Chloe saw reflections of her mother saying nasty and cruel things to her.
"Honestly, darling, what is this trash?" Audrey said as she held up a drawing. "So crude. It's fired!"
"Mommy, I drew that for you when I was six!" Chloe cried.
"Ugh! I wish your voice wasn't so utterly ridiculous!" Another Audrey said.
"And don't get me started on that pathetic attempt to be me," said another Audrey.
"Failed attempt," said another.
"No! Stop it!" Chloe cried.
"Marissa!" Cat Noir said as he arrived. "Marissa, you have to let her out. This could do more harm than good."
"After what she did she deserves this and you won't stop me from my punishing, kitty. In fact I should punish you and those delivery men. You for interfering and those men for allowing that gift to be brought!"
"Don't!" Ladybug said as she swung in. "Marissa, the men were only doing their job. And Cat Noir is trying to help you."
She shot at them with some glowing beams from her bunny. "Stay out of my way."
"Look out!" Ladybug screamed as they jumped to avoid the shots. "Any chance the Akuma's in that bunny?"
Cat Noir looked at it. He recognized it. "That's a good guess," he said.
The punisher jumped out of the window. "Bye bye. Oh and if you break the mirror she'll be trapped forever." Before landing and running off.
"No!" Cat Noir called. And then he sighed. "We have to save her."
"We will," said Ladybug with a reassuring smile. "Lucky charm!"
Ladybug shot her yoyo into the air and there was a glow. Once the glow stopped, an object fell. It was a red boombox with black ladybug spots. Ladybug caught the boombox and she and Cat Noir looked confused.
"I'm guessing we're supposed to use music to calm her down?" Cat Noir guessed.
Ladybug started looking around for what she could do. Her eyes landed on a megaphone and a Jagged Stone CD.
"I bet she's a Jagged Stone fan," Ladybug said with a smirk. She took Chloe's CD, and then found something else among her collection. "XY? Uck!"
The two then left the hotel and went to the company those delivery men worked for.
-with the Punisher-
Punisher was making her way to the company that the party grams worked for when she heard a voice.
"Hey, Punisher, you really need to relax!" Cat Noir called. She started walking towards him. "I'm thinking of some music."
Suddenly, Jagged Stone music was heard.
"Jagged?" She asked. She started calming down. "I love this song."
While she listened to the song, Ladybug used her yoyo to steal her bunny. She then ripped off the head and the aluma flew out.
"No more evil doing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize!" Ladybug said as she used her yoyo to capture the akuma. When she opened her yoyo, the white butterfly flew out. "Bye-bye, little butterfly."
Punisher blinked and looked over at the heroes as she changed back. Her eyes widened in horror when she saw the bunny.
"My bunny!" She screamed.
"It'll be fine in no time!" Cat Noir said, calming her.
"Promise. Miraculous ladybug!" Ladybug said as she threw up the boombox.
A swarm of ladybugs flew around the city and repaired the damage. Chloe was even freed from her mirror prison. Finally, the bunny got its head back.
"Pound it!" The heroes said while fist bumping.
Cat Noir picked up the bunny and gave it back to Marissa. "Here you go. Good as new."
Marissa hugged her bunny and said, "Thank you for saving me. I can't believe that happened, today of all days; it's my brother's birthday."
"I'm sure your brother will understand. In fact, I'll bet he and your dad are worried about you," said Cat Noir. "How about I give you a lift home?"
"Oh yes. I'd love to join you," said Marissa as she clung to Cat Noir.
"You can go home, L.B. I've got Marissa," said Cat Noir.
"Okay. Bug out," said Ladybug before swinging away.
"Here we go," said Cat Noir as he used his staff to got to the roof and then jump.
Marissa smiled happily as he jumped from roof to roof while still holding her close. He finally arrived at her house and placed her down on the ground. He bid her goodbye before leaving. In truth, he was hiding while changing back.
"I'll be right there, sis," he said and then rushed to see her. "Marissa! You're okay!"
"Yeah I'm alright. How about you?" Marissa said.
"Better now that I know you're safe," said Adrien.
"As am I," said Gabriel as he came out of the house with the guests.
"Dad," Marissa said as she hugged him.
"There there, my girl," said Gabriel as he hugged her back. "Don't worry about anything now."
"Exactly. Just enjoy the rest of the party," said Nino. "Have some cake while your bro opens presents."
Marissa smiled as she joined everyone. Adrien blew out the candles on the cake. As the cake was being cut for everyone to share, Adrien went to unwrap his gifts. He liked the mix he got from Nino and the game from Alya. He found several other ones from his friends and reached the one from Marinette.
"Wow! This is amazing!" He said as he tried on the scarf.
"Thanks. I paid it myself. I mean, made it myself!" Marinette said.
"Thanks, Marinette," said Adrien.
"This one is from your father. He commissioned your sister to paint it," said Nathalie as she brought the portrait out.
"Thanks, you guys," Adrien happily said to his father and sister.
"You're welcome, Adrien," said Gabriel while hugging Marissa. "Happy birthday."
-later-
Marissa was working on her new paintings having gotten some inspiration. Her TV was on and showing an ice skating competition.
"Next up, from Italy, is Alice Rossi," the announcer said.
Marissa looked at the screen and watched as a pretty girl with long golden brown hair dressed in a blue sparkly dress with long sleeves and a snowflake pattern, and white skates. As she skated, Marissa got a really good look at her face. She had green eyes, her face had a heart shape, and her nose was small.
"Aly?" Marissa asked. As it turns out, she knows the girl on TV.
"A stunning performance by Rossi. Such grace and beauty," said the announcer. "It's no wonder she's a rising star in the world of skating."
"She always loved skating," Marissa said with a smile as she watched her skate.
"What an amazing performance!" said the announcer.
"That's my friend," said Marissa, smiling. And then she glanced at the box on her table.
