-Ambarussa stayed with their mother at Mahtan's house for the night before they had to leave.
In the middle of the night, when they are sleeping together in their bedroom, they hear Fëanaro and Nerdanel whispering in the other room.
The twins next awaken to Fëanaro and Nerdanel arguing over them, their mother wanting the twins, or at least one of them, to stay behind with her.
-Fëanaro vehemently refuses, and even drags them both out and shoving them in their brothers' arms to drag them off before they could say a proper good-bye to their mother.
-As they are being dragged off, a pleading, tearful Nerdanel yells at Fëanaro, reminding him that one of them is fated to die if they went, but this only make Fëanaro angrier, to the point when he almost strikes her if it weren't for his youngest sons crying out and jumping in between them to defend their mother.
-Fëanaro blinks, lowers his hand shakily, but still tells Nerdanel to keep her prophecies to herself, that she was faithless, and that she ought to go back to the Valar, whom she cares for more than her own family, and orders Ambarussa to come along.
-Ambarussa already feel the Oath tugging them along, but they still attempt to say good-bye to their tearful mother and promise they'll return to her, which was sadly brief before Makalaurë was able to pull them away more gently, while Maitimo stays a minute longer to exchange a quiet farewell and apology.
-At Alqualondë, Pityo is the first of the twins to kill, protecting his younger brother from a backstab as they are closing swords with the Teleri.
-While Pityo is frozen inshock at what he had done, Telvo kills an oncoming elf before they could strike down Pityo.
-When they ride the ships, still bloodstained and traumatized, Telvo keeps throwing-up overboard while Pityo holds him, pale-faced himself.
It's partially because Telvo gets easily sea-sick compared to his twin, which gets worse as they face multiple storms.
-When they arrive on the shores, Telvo scrambling with the others for shore, Pityo's mind is still on the first kinslaying and suddenly wants nothing more than to turn back and return to their mother.
-As they set up camp, Pityo brings up his fears to his family, believing that they should go back and repent, but Fëanaro and the middle brothers respite him. Makalaurë says nothing while Maitimo reluctantly agrees; Telvo, out of peer pressure, voices his agreement, though his heart actually agrees with Pityo and wants to return to their mother in Aman.
-Pityo feels betrayed and alone.
-After sneaking some drinks, the twins have an argument after Pityo admits that he wants to go home, not able to handle any more wrongs than they have committed at Alqualonde; Telvo remains stubbornly insistent that they can't go back, even though deep down he agrees with his twin.
-Their argument, however, leads to the point that Pityo shuts off his mental mind link from Telvo before stomping off, announcing that he was sleeping on the ship, knowing fully well that Telvo couldn't due to his sea sickness.
-Meanwhile, Telvo gives their argument a lot of thought, and starts to think his twin was right, that maybe if they went home on the ships (he believed they would send them back), their mother might take them back and vouch for their forgiveness if they asked for it.
-Drunk and lulled by the calming waters, Pityo ends up passing out undertone decks of the ship; Telvo drifts off on a bedroll in the encampment up the hills, deciding he would apologize and agree to go with him when he believed they would next sent the ships (even if he got sea-sick again).
-Meanwhile, Maitimo has just had an argument with his father about sending the ships back for the Nolofinwë and the rest of the Noldor. Fëanor knows of his eldest son's true friendship with Findekanò, his half-brother's eldest, and even suspects the secret relationship between them.
-Still, Maitimo dismisses Fëanaro's fell behavior, knows a few Noldor who want to go back after what they have done and secretly sends those elves out on one of the ships. Not long after the first ship was sent off by some fleeing elves, already one hundred feet from shore, Fëanaro sees this happening (reported by Curufinwë, Carnistir, or Tyelkormo) and confronts Maitimo.
-Fëanaro views this act as treachery and orders all the ships to be burned, starting with the one having already sailed off, to prevent them from reaching Nolofinwë.
-Neylafinwë is the only one of Fëanaro's sons to not want or have any part of the burning ships.
-When he tries to prevent it, Fëanaro orders him to be held back as he and Curufinwë fire the first flaming arrows to the sailing ship, followed by Carnistir, then Tyelko, and finally (after hesitation and a terrifying look from his father) Makalaurë, instantly setting its flammable sails on fire, before ordering the others to burn the others still on shore.
-Hungover, Pityo wakes up to flame, smoke, and yells from elves above deck; panicking and still out of it, he climbs around and starts pounding on the deck doors to get someone's attention, screaming for help; in this version, he then remembers to back on his link with his twin in desperation.
-Having dreams of flames, his twin screaming, and hearing mad laughter (Fëanaro's laughter), Telvo wakes up with a start and smells the smoke, hearing the rallying noises of the Noldor, and realizes that it wasn't a dream.
-Running down the hill, screaming out his horror and confusion at the ships being burned, Telvo sees Maitimo still struggling against three elves dragging him aside and leaps in to help get him released.
-When he heard his youngest brother shouting, and sees him without his twin, the extra help allows Maitimo the advantage to throw aside all the elves before he and his youngest brother dart away to head down the burning shores, with little time for Maitimo to explain what was happening.
-Telvo tells Neylo that Pityo had gone to sleep on one of the swan ships, and still hasn't seen him, making the elder brother go stark white with horror. By the time they reach the crowd, with Fëanaro and the middle sons in the lead with torches in hand, it was too late; the ships having already set ablaze, lighting the darkness with its bright, burning flames, reflecting the mad rage and delight on Fëanaro's face.
-Moryo reflects his father's expression, severe coldness on Curvo's, grim submission in Turko's (devastated to have left Irissë behind, but won't disobey his father), and daunted despair and shame in Kàno's, whom in the end obeyed Fëanaro (shocking Neylo the most with this betrayal before he was dragged aside, since his first younger brother should have been even more reluctant than any of them to commit this act, but still wouldn't stick up their father).
-The adrenaline and triumph for them is shattered when hearing the younger of Ambarussa screaming for his twin, and Fëanaro realizes too late with sudden dismay and horror what he had done, whispering, "No...the ship I burned first..."
-In the distance, they could make Pityo screaming for them, but before they could so anything, the ship on the water containing the older Ambarussa (Umbarto) collapses, and they don't see him anymore.
-Telvo feels the spiritual ink between them break and he wails, while his father and brothers watch with frozen shock and grief.
-The grieving Ambarussa wouldn't let any of his brother touch him, even as he feels his body weakening drastically, and demands why they have done this.
-Telvo admitted that he and Pityo both wanted to go home.
-Fëanaro took all his youngest son's words with a harsh aloofness to cover his devastation, and instead replied that if "Ambarto" had been meaning to desert them all, then he was considered a traitor along with the rest.
-When his father didn't seem to show any signs of emotion in his eyes (he has actually gone numb), the surviving twin curses Fëanaro as "fell and fey," declaring openly about refusing to follow him any longer as both his father and his leader.
-When Telvo storms off, slapping away Makalaurë's extended hand, everyone doesn't move, watching the ships burn in frozen silence, except for Makalaurë's weeping.
-His head filled with images of Telvo's hateful tears, Nerdanel's prophecy, and a burned Pityo, clashing with his thoughts of the Silmarils, Fëanaro breaks the silence by telling Neylo to fetch Ambarussa, even if it meant dragging him back.
-Too angry and aggrieved to speak, Maitimo leaves to go after Ambarussa.
-When Fëanaro is finally left alone, everyone too self-horrified to be around the ships anymore, he starts to shake and collapses to his knees, staring at his ash-covered hands.
-Nobody is there to witness the King of the Noldor's silent, broken weeping.
-It doesn't take Neylo long to find Telvo, who is now in a weak state of grief, and tells his youngest brother that he was taking him back; Telvo refuses, not wanting Maitimo to come near him at first, thinking he agreed with Fëanaro.
-Maitimo feels guilty for Ambarto's death, because it had been him who had sent out that ship to begin with, though not knowing he had been sleeping onboard.
-To dissuade Telvo from trying to leave, Maitimo confesses that he swore to their mother that he would look after Ambarussa, but with Pityo now dead, he admits that he had failed them both since the moment he had let them swear the Oath.
-Desperate, he apologizes for his failure and begs Telvo not to leave, saying that they all had to stick together and that he couldn't lose both his twin baby brothers.
-Moved by Maitimo's pleas, Telvo breaks and cries in his arms until he passes out, having fallen immediately ill.
