"I am Groot."
The teen froze after closing the door. He hadn't made a sound coming in, but his father waiting up for him wasn't something he'd factored into his late night plan.
Dropping a leaf or two as he slow walked over to face his dad, Groot said, "I am Groot."
Waving toward the door, the elder Groot said, "I am Groot."
The teen shrugged.
A twig finger pointed at the clock, and said sternly, "I am, GROOT!"
Branches growing around the boy's chest, he said, "I am… groot."
"I am Groot," said the Dad, making a gimmie motion with his twig hand.
The boy sulked for a moment before saying, "I am Groot."
His dad just shook his head.
The teen pulled out his car keys and yelling, "I AM GROOT," at his dad, threw the keys on the floor and stomped his way to his bedroom.
The Dad picked up the keys, set them on the coffee table and sat heavily back down in his chair. Leafy hand on his forehead, the elder Groot quietly said to no one, "i am groot."
