October 7th 2038…

She still couldn't believe what happened…

20 year old Leah Anderson had run up the stairs leading to the library roof to try to stop 21 year old Alex Reed and 23 year old Nathan Kamski from fighting, only to see them go over the ledge… and now police officers were approaching the library building.

"Hank, you can't go up there!"

Leah jumped at hearing Fowler yelling and seeing him restraining Hank.

"That's my niece up there, dammit!"

Getting out of the car, Connor immediately walked to Hank.

"What the hell do you want?! I told you to stay in the goddamn car! I'm getting my niece off of that roof!" Hank shouted at Connor.

"You can't be involved, Hank! You know damn well you'll break police procedure if you go up there!" Fowler retorted.

"Fuck police procedure, I'm the only family Leah has left!" Hank yelled.

"I'll get her off of the roof, Lieutenant!" Connor responded, Hank knowing he had no choice in this.

"You better!" Hank growled before Connor ran to the library doors and into the library.

He reached the door that led to the rooftop and cautiously opened it, the 5'5" slender redhead looking to him and Connor scanning her.

"It's okay, don't jump. My name is Connor, I'm the android sent by CyberLife. Your uncle Hank is worried about you." Connor explained.

"My friends were fighting… and they fell over the ledge when I got here." Leah responded once she regained control of her voice, not moving away from the ledge as tears ran down her face. "I just saw them yesterday, I thought they'd apologize to each other!" She replied.

Connor saw her flinch after hearing the police helicopter… and it made him briefly flash back to when Daniel was threatening to jump off the roof with Emma, Connor quickly scanning Leah again.

His LED turning from blue to red as he sensed her anxiety, Connor glanced at the helicopter.

"Back off, she's not a jumper! She's just scared!" Connor responded from his LED and into one of their headsets, the pilot giving the two distance.

Being as careful as he could, Connor looked back to Leah and reached his right hand out to the frightened girl. "It's okay, take my hand. You're safe." He replied softly, Leah moving closer to him.

Leah grabbed his hand and Connor guided her into the stairwell, holding her as she cried.

"It's okay. You're okay." Connor whispered as he picked her up off of the ground and walked outside with her in his arms.

"Connor?!" Fowler replied.

"I've got her, Captain. She wasn't going to jump, the call was a misunderstanding." Connor responded, placing Leah on a gurney so paramedics could check her over… and he saw Gavin nearby.

Tears ran down the detective's face as he realized Alex was dead… and he covered his brother's body.

Connor turned back to Leah, who had an oxygen mask on her mouth and nose as Hank held her… and Leah reached her right hand out, Connor holding it in his left one and scanning her once again.

It was a strange feeling to him but he couldn't bring himself to leave her side.

"Don't ever scare me like that again, Leah Elizabeth!" Hank responded, Leah nodding distantly.

At DMC Sinai Grace Hospital, Leah had been sedated as she heard Gavin arguing with Fowler.

"How the hell am I gonna tell my parents that my little brother is dead?!"

"It's not gonna be easy, Gavin!"

The curtain was pulled back and Hank glared at Gavin.

"Get the hell out of here!" Hank growled.

"She knows what happened! Speak up, Leah!" Gavin retorted, shouting the last part as he approached the bed but Connor stood in between Leah and Gavin. "Get out of my goddamn way, you plastic asshole!" He growled.

"Lieutenant Anderson said that you need to leave. His niece is in no shape to answer questions right now, two of her friends are dead! One of them is your own brother, you need to grieve instead of lashing out at an innocent girl!" Connor responded firmly, Gavin glaring at him and then glaring at Hank.

"You and this plastic prick can't protect her forever, Hank!" Gavin growled before shooting one final glare at Leah, who had remained quiet since she had been brought into the ER.

Gavin stormed out and Connor turned to Leah, crouching down to her after Hank walked outside when he heard Fowler yelling.

Because of the sedative, she wasn't thinking clearly… and Connor got her to look at him.

"I hate it when Jeffery yells. Most of the time, it's at my uncle." Leah responded, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Is it okay if I probe your memory? I'll try my best to be gentle." Connor explained.

Leah nodded and Connor placed his right hand on her left wrist as her right one had an IV in it… and both of them closed their eyes.

"What part of I have it under control don't you understand?!"

Knowing that was Nathan's voice, Leah managed to run up the stairs leading to the door of the roof as Alex yelled "It's too dangerous, Nathan! They can't be controlled, Androids are deviating from their programming!" and Leah tried to open the door.

The lock kept it from budging and Leah saw a nearby crowbar, picked it up and broke the lock before forcing the door open.

"Nate! Alex!" Leah shouted as they fell over the ledge and she ran to it, looking over.

Leah screamed in complete horror after she realized they were dead...

Connor and Leah opened their eyes after he jolted and he looked at the monitor, which showed that her pulse and blood pressure were elevated although nowhere near as elevated as earlier when she was on the roof.

He didn't like to probe humans as he found their memories frightening at times.

Being as cautious as he could, Connor rested his hands on her shoulders to calm her down.

"Gavin is right, it's my fault… if I had just gone to check on them last night, they'd still be here!" Leah responded after finally regaining control of her voice, Connor looking into her sapphire colored eyes.

"It's not your fault. What happened to them was an accident, a senseless tragedy. There's no one to blame, don't blame yourself. Detective Reed is angry and grieving, he has no right to lash out at you." Connor replied in a reassuring tone, Leah brushing tears away.

Glancing into the room after growling "Shut up, Jeffrey!" and making sure Fowler had left, Hank glanced at Leah and Connor.

He couldn't bring himself to trust the android that CyberLife had sent to the police station earlier that day but he saw that Leah was slowly calming down… and for now, he would be okay with not trying to kill Connor.
