October 8th 2038…

His eyes adjusting to the dimmed lighting, Connor noticed that it was night time and that Leah was looking through Nathan's notebook again.

Hank was sleeping again and Connor saw Leah writing on a notepad, Connor guessing that she was managing to decipher some of what Nathan had written.

"Dammit, Nathan! Were you not taking your Adderall when you wrote this?!" Leah muttered as she was starting to get a headache, closing the notebook and putting it on the nearby desk… and Connor getting her to lie back down, lightly rubbing her left arm.

'It's not in my programming to stay and keep an eye on her… so why can't I bring myself to leave?' Connor thought.

Picking up the notebook once Leah was asleep, Connor quietly opened it and flipped through a few pages… until he stopped when he saw one with 'Do androids feel anything?' and Connor looked at Leah.

'What were you onto, Nathan? Did it involve her?' Connor thought before closing the notebook and setting it aside.

Leah stretched and opened her eyes when she noticed the scent of Pumpkin Spice coffee, hash browns and a sausage biscuit before Hank kissed her forehead and helped her sit up after setting the food down.

"I don't think you should go back to the dorms anytime soon, kiddo." Hank responded.

"Do they still have mine cordoned off with crime scene tape?" Leah questioned.

"No, now that they've determined that you're not hiding anything as far as they know." Hank explained before he sat down as Leah carefully ate. "Look, you just lost two of your closest friends. Being within the proximity of the crime scene itself might further traumatize you." He responded.

"Okay. When they release me from here, I have to get a few things from my dorm room to bring home." Leah replied after sipping her coffee before Hank set a duffel bag down.

"Already taken care of." Hank explained.

After being released from the hospital and getting dressed into a plaid long sleeved oversized blouse, medium wash skinny jeans and cognac colored ankle boots, Leah left with Hank and Connor… and Hank carefully drove before they reached the Anderson house.

"I don't know if androids need to ever sleep but if you want to stay over some nights, the couch is always there." Hank explained after Connor had told him that he didn't always go back to the CyberLife building, Connor helping Leah out of the car. "Oh, one more thing. I have a dog that likes to tackle anyone who walks through the door unless he's asleep." He responded before he unlocked the door and opened it.

It wasn't even a minute after they walked into the house that Leah let out a startled shriek as a blur of white, brown and black fur and paws tackled her to the floor and was giving her slobbery kisses as she laughed.

"Hey, Sumo! I missed you too!" Leah squealed between laughs and she lightly scratched behind Sumo's right ear.

Sumo sat down and Leah sat up, petting the 170 pound Saint Bernard before Hank helped her up to her feet… and Sumo noticed Connor, who held his right hand out.

"Hello there, Sumo." Connor replied, Sumo sniffing him before quickly licking his hand.

'Traitor.' Hank thought with a playful smirk.

Once Leah had put her things away, she set out some clean clothes and decided to go clean off.

Leah stripped down and shaved before starting the shower and grabbing her blue ombre style hair brush… and with the water falling around her and soaking her long red hair, she squeezed a bit of John Frieda Radiant Red shampoo into the palm of her hands and lathered it through her hair before brushing it and rinsing it out with colder water.

Turning the temperature back to warm after applying the conditioner to it and clipping her hair up, Leah stepped back and squeezed a bit of Hey Humans Rosewater Ginger scented body wash to her scrubby brush and gently scrubbed her skin… and closed her eyes to let her tears fall.

'You goddamn morons couldn't stop arguing for a few minutes, now you're on slabs in the morgue! I would strangle both of you for being such assholes to each other if you were still alive!' Leah thought before she opened her eyes and rinsed her skin and hair.

With the shower off, Leah towel dried herself off before wrapping one oversized blue towel around her body and putting her hair up in a Turbie Twist super absorbent hair towel before tying it closed so she could apply her Hey Humans Rosewater Ginger deodorant to her underarms and go through her skincare routine, using ELF Holy Hydration gel cleanser, Keep Your Balance toner, face cream and eye cream,

Once she was dressed, Leah brushed her hand against her gray and burgundy striped pajama pants to brush a stray hair off, fixed her gray and burgundy striped oversized long sleeved top and untied the hair towel to let her long hair down before she styled it using her Not Your Mother's Beat The Heat Thermal spray, Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves hair cream and the diffuser attachment on her Drybar Buttercup hair dryer.

Once her hair was dry and curly again, Leah washed her hands and walked into her bedroom before seeing a picture of her and Cole that was taken a few days before the car crash.

'I'm so sorry, little buddy. You'd still be here if I had never gotten involved with Leo.' Leah thought sadly as she held the picture close to her and closed her eyes after lying down.

Startled by Sumo's distressed whining, Connor looked up from the living room… Hank was still outside on a phone call with Fowler and Connor stood up and walked the short distance to Leah's room, knocking on the door.

Getting no response, Connor twisted the door knob and saw Leah on her right side before he walked over to her and crouched down as Leah looked up at him as Connor saw the photo.

Without a word, Connor pulled her into his arms and they held each other.

Comforting someone wasn't part of his programming so he had no idea why he was doing it.

But once again, he couldn't bring himself to leave.

Across town at the hospital, Elijah signed electronic forms so his brother's body could be released quickly and he could hold a funeral for him.

'I'm sorry I wasn't around much when you were growing up, Nathan.' Elijah thought before he saw Gavin storm by him.

The two glared at each other before Elijah followed the nurse to the morgue… and Gavin found an old photo in his jacket pocket of him, Alex, Cole, Hank and Leah from the day Leah and Alex started their Sophomore and Senior years of high school.

It seemed like a lifetime ago to Gavin in one way and in another way, it felt like it was only yesterday.
