A/N: Merry early Christmas and have a safe and happy new year.
July 11th 2038…
Leah jolted awake and looked at the clock, seeing that it was just after 5 in the morning and saw Hank half asleep as Hank rubbed his face… and his eyes widened when he saw Leah.
"Shit. Sorry, kid, I was hoping you'd never see me passed out drunk on the floor." Hank admitted as he brushed Leah's tears away, seeing that she hadn't even bothered to change into pajamas or take her makeup off.
"I've tried pouring the liquor down the drain but you always bring more home. So I just pick you up off the floor, stay up during the night and make sure you're breathing." Leah replied, Hank helping her sit up.
"It's not your job to look after me, I should be the one taking care of you and making sure you're okay." Hank responded, helping Leah stand up and guiding her to her room before his phone rang. "Let the voicemail catch that one. Go rinse your face." He replied.
Leah nodded before they hugged and she wandered into her bathroom, taking her makeup off and washing her face before drying it off and going through her skin care routine and Hank went to pet Sumo.
Once Leah emerged from her room after a shower with her pajamas and slippers on, she and Hank hugged and Hank brushed Leah's tears away.
"I'm gonna fix us some breakfast and then I want you to get a few hours of sleep, kiddo." Hank responded after they let go, Leah sitting on the couch as Hank walked into the kitchen and Leah petted Sumo.
After she washed her hands, they ate and watched Tv before Leah and Hank hugged and he guided her to her room before she climbed into her bed.
Hank pulled the covers over Leah, kissing her forehead as her eyes closed and Hank saw Sumo in the doorway with a concerned look on his face.
"Stay here with her, Sumo." Hank whispered before going to check his voicemail and hearing a message from Fowler.
"Hey, Hank, it's Jeffrey. CyberLife is in the process of finishing a state of the art prototype, it might have to act as your-"
Hank deleted the voicemail with a disgruntled look on his face and set his phone down, checking on Leah again before going into the kitchen and picking up a photo of himself, Seline, Cole and Leah from September 23rd 2035.
Hank turned it upside down and brushed tears away.
"I'm sorry, Cole. I'm sorry, Son." Hank responded quietly.
He wouldn't let anyone take Leah's life and would protect her at all costs…
Present time, October 8th 2038…
Leah wasn't sure when she fell asleep but when she woke up, it was because Hank and Connor were talking in the living room.
'They seem to be getting along with each other, that's good.' Leah thought before she sat up and walked to her desk where her nail care supplies were, grabbing cuticle softener, a metal cuticle pusher, glass nail file, cotton rounds, acetone, clean up brush and polishes.
She set out a polish mat before using a cotton round and some acetone to remove Holo Taco's See Ya All Later Chai, closing the acetone bottle before throwing the used cotton round away and filing her mid length oval shaped nails before using the cuticle softener and cuticle pusher.
After washing her hands and towel drying them, Leah used a cotton round and rubbed a bit of acetone on her nails before throwing it away.
After applying the Holo Taco Smoothing Base and letting it dry, Leah applied Holo Taco's I'm Over Brew in two coats and used the clean up brush and acetone to clean up any polish that got too close to the nail beds and cuticles after once again closing the acetone.
With the polish fully dry, she applied Holo Taco's Glossy Top Coat and let her manicure fully dry before washing her hands again and drying them off.
After applying Pacifica's Nourishing nail and cuticle oil and Nivea cream, Leah heard her Samsung Galaxy A19s chime and picked it up before she saw a text from Cari.
'Le, where the hell are you?! I need to borrow your damn science notes again!'
Leah ignored the text but then another one from Cari appeared.
'Quit ignoring me, it's not my fault you went crazy and threw Nate and Alex off the roof!'
"Fucking bitch!" Leah muttered after blocking Cari's number and checking the Discord group chat after seeing the notifications.
Seeing the angry messages from people who had been her friends since elementary school, Leah took screenshots of each message before she took her name out of the Discord server and deleted the app before blocking their numbers and social media accounts… and she heard the door open before she saw Hank, showing him the angry messages.
"You were right. Friends can be someone's worst enemy." Leah responded before Hank pulled her into a hug.
"They were willing to say all those angry words in the group chat and not to your face… kiddo, real friends don't treat someone like that." Hank replied before they let go and walked into the living room after she hid the notebook.
Seeing the distress in her eyes, Connor walked over to Leah.
"Are you okay?" Connor asked.
"Yeah, I just… I cut off a lot of friendships that I thought would've lasted forever. Didn't take them long to turn against me." Leah replied before they sat down and Sumo nuzzled her, Leah petting him.
In her dorm room, Cari pulled her caramel brown hair into a ponytail and let out an angered and indignant huff after realizing that Leah had blocked her.
"That murdering bitch is not gonna get away with it, not this time! Their deaths are her fault and that bitch is gonna pay!" Cari hissed before she grabbed her iPhone 29 and accessed the Discord group chat and started typing.
It wasn't long before the others responded and she smirked before she put her coat on and her phone in her jeans pocket, grabbed her purse and key and left.
October 9th 2038…
Jolting awake after hearing glass being shattered and Sumo barking, Leah was quick to stand up and put her slippers on before she grabbed the hidden .357 Revolver before she ran into the living room to see Hank with his semi automatic pistol in his hands and Connor holding a brick with a note attached to it as Connor's LED flashed yellow before it returned to blue and Hank calmed Sumo down.
Connor untied the note from the brick and stood up, walking to Leah and handing it to her before she unfolded it.
'We know you caused their deaths! Turn yourself in or things will only get worse!'
"They're not gonna get away with this!" Hank growled.
Grabbing his iPhone 29, Hank dialed Jeffrey's number and spoke to him as Leah paced around frantically and was struggling to breathe before she was stopped by Hank, who had briefly set his phone down.
Leah screamed and backed away out of fright, Hank hearing Jeffrey's voice on the phone.
"It's okay, kiddo, you're safe at home." Hank responded softly before he looked at Connor as Leah wasn't responsive.
Taking over so Hank could continue speaking to Jeffrey, Connor lightly rubbed his right hand up and down Leah's back after scanning her and seeing that her stress level was at 100% and an objective appeared in front of him.
Calm Leah down
Accessing his database, Connor found the program that he needed to help him guide someone through an anxiety attack.
"You need to let your stress level drop, Leah." Connor whispered, resting his hands on her shoulders before Leah closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths, Connor scanning her again.
Stress level: 85%, Too High
"Alright, take another deep breath and count to 5 before exhaling." Connor responded, Leah doing so.
Stress level: 70%, Optimal
"You're doing great, keep breathing." Connor replied as Hank looked up from the kitchen and saw Leah take a deep breath and count to 5.
Stress level: 55%, Optimal
It was a while before Leah's stress level dropped to 5% and Connor saw something else appear in front of him.
Leah ^Friend
Hank nodded in approval as Connor held Leah and lightly rubbed her back, Leah wrapping her arms around Connor and rested her head on his left shoulder.
She closed her eyes for a few seconds and pressed the palm of her left hand against the palm of Connor's right hand as his synthetic skin peeled back.
From what she remembered Nathan saying last week, Androids did that as a sign of trust.
And a part of her had a feeling that Connor wasn't completely a machine.
