Chapter 17: Yakuza AKA Japanese Mafia

NAME: Yakuza AKA Japanese Mafia

I took most of the information for the Yakuza from the DCU. I know that the Arrowverse had the Yakuza, but I don't think that it went into it all that much.

ORIGIN:

The Yakuza originally arose as protectors of the common people during feudal times. They have since spread outside of Japan wherever illicit opportunities exist in the outside world. The Yakuza is made up of many different and often rival Clans. The head of each Clan is known as the Obabun or Godfather. The Second in Command is known as the saiko-komon.

CLANS:

Tokyo: Noguri Enterprises is the main headquarters. Boss Noguri is the Obabun. Takeo Yamashiro is a member. Enterprises: Theft, sex trade, pornography, drugs, guns, illegal wildlife trade, illegal antiquities trade. Noguri has an interest in mystic artifacts.

Nagasaki: Enterprises: Theft, sex trade, pornography, drugs, guns, illegal wildlife trade, illegal antiquities trade.

Osaka: Enterprises: Theft, sex trade, pornography, drugs, guns, illegal wildlife trade, illegal antiquities trade.

Gotham: Akahara is Obabun. Niko is saiko-komon. Rule the docks in Gotham. Enterprises: Theft, sex trade, pornography, drugs, guns, illegal wildlife trade, illegal antiquities trade.

Los Angeles: Ishiguro Technologies is the main headquarters. Shoko Ishiguro is the Obabun. Ame Okurura is the saiko-komon. Specialize in the heroin trade, sex trade, and pornography. Enterprises: Theft, guns, illegal wildlife trade, illegal antiquities trade.

NOTES:

The Yakuza is a very culturally bound mafia. Honor is tied to blood. Failure in a task must be paid for with blood. A common price paid for failure is to cut off the first digit of your pinky. Each additional failure is the loss of an additional digit. The individual will cut the digit off themselves to demonstrate their sorrow for their failure.

A significant failure will cause the individual to commit seppuku or ritual suicide. Even seppuku may not eliminate the blood debt for the failure.
