They made it Med in time and Hailey laboured for about another hour and a half and then their third baby came flying into the world with one of the loudest cries their doctor said he had ever heard.

Hailey was currently relaxing while Jay held their two-hour old baby girl against his bare chest and gently rocked her as he walked around the room. Seeing Jay like this made her fall in love with him all over again, the scene in front of her was pure bliss, Jay in nothing but his sweatpants and glasses (that he rarely wore but Hailey loved it when he did) holding his Newborn daughter against his chest. She looked even tinier now that he was holding her, she had forgot how small Newborn babies were.

Hailey adored how gentle Jay was with each of his Newborn babies, seeing him like this with their daughter was enough to make her want another baby right here right now, but they had decided that three was the number for them. This baby girl would be their last.

Hailey gave her husband a sleepy smile when he turned his attention away from their daughter in his arms and over to her.

"She's so perfect Hails"

"Isn't she just"

"I can't believe we made this"

"Think we did a pretty good job huh?"

"I think you did the best job, I'm so proud of you" he said while placing the baby back into her little cot and then leant over to kiss his wife

"I love you"

"I love you too Hails, try and get some sleep now, okay?"

"I want to, but I can't stop looking at her"

"She's not gonna disappear, I'll make sure of it, you sleep, okay?" He told her while running his hand over her hair

"Okay"

"Goodnight"

"Mmm goodnight"

The next morning Jay was up before Hailey, his internal body clock not letting up, most of the time it annoyed him because he was up before their alarm and he wouldn't have anything to do, sometimes he would wake Hailey up with soft kisses on the back of her neck but he didn't like to wake her up too much, he knew how much his wife loved her sleep and he knew how much she was affected by her insomnia sometimes, so most of the time he felt bad, though Hailey would rather be woken up by kisses than the blearing of their alarm clock.

Jay didn't mind being up so early this morning though, he sat up from the cot a nurse had brought in for him and stretched before looking over at his wife and daughter who were sleeping peacefully in their respective beds. He stood up quietly not wanting to wake either of them and went and stood by the baby's little crib which was on the right side of Haileys bed.

Jay thought the cot made the baby look so tiny, she was all swaddled up and sleeping peacefully in the middle of the cot. Jay stared at her in awe, like he had done with her older siblings. She was so perfect.

"Good morning" He heard from his left

"Hey, you" he smiled at his wife "I didn't wake you, did I?"

"No, I don't think so" she whispered

"Okay good" Jay smiled "it's early, go back to sleep"

"What if she gets hungry?"

"I'm pretty sure she'll let the whole ward know if she's hungry Hails" Jay laughed softly

"Okay, good night" she mumbled sleepily and rolled back over into a comfortable position and Jay turned his attention to his daughter laying in her crib. She was now awake, but she wasn't crying just looking around at the new world. Small tufts of red hair covered her small head, her eyes were currently a piercing blue, and Jay hoped it stayed that way.

Will hadn't been in to see them yet, so he didn't know the new baby had red hair. Jay had told everyone to wait till around noon to visit so that he could make sure Hailey was rested and ready to have people come in to visit.

They had agreed an earlier time of around ten that morning so that he could meet the baby before his shift, rather than after, when there would be a higher chance of him picking up something from the ED and maybe passing it onto Hailey or the baby. Jay knew that Will would be ecstatic when he saw the little redheaded baby, he knew there were some bets about the hair colour of the baby going on, organised by Adam of course, at any chance he could get, explaining it as a good cause like all the money won wouldn't go to celebratory drinks anyway.

When ten o'clock rolled around Hailey had just finished feeding the baby as Jay finished putting her hair up in a messy bun, the way she liked it. There was a soft knock on the door before it opened and in walked Will. He was met with Hailey sitting on the bed with the baby in her arms and Jay was standing next to her.

"Hey" Will couldn't hide how big his smile was, he couldn't wait to meet his new niece. Hailey passed the baby to Jay who carried her to Will after he finished washing his hands. The baby was awake in his arms, eyes wide at the unfamiliar person who was now taking her into his arms.

"She's so perfect" Will said tearing up a bit "oh and she has red hair would you look at that" he let out a small chuckle

Hailey smiled as the brothers doted over the small red headed baby, their bond was something she loved.

"What's her name?" Will asked while gently rocking the baby in his arms. Jay looked over at Hailey, silently communicating just like they always did and even after all these years it still kinda freaked Will out, how they could have whole conversations just by looking at each other, yeah it definitely freaked Will out still.

"Amelia Isabella Halstead" Hailey told him

"Hi Amelia, I'm your uncle Will" he cooed while Jay and Hailey had more of their silent conversation

"And her godfather, that is if you want that?" Jay spoke up and Wills head shot up

"Are you serious? I know you guys were saving those spots for your friends so they had official titles and all that" Will rambled on

"Will" Hailey stopped him "We're serious, we talked about it before she was born and now i definitely think it's meant to be, I mean look at all that red hair" Hailey gave him a soft smile and Will handed the baby back to Jay and moved to give his sister a hug and Hailey happily obliged.

Jay smiled at his brother and his wife, he loved the bond that they had formed, even if they did gang up on him sometimes.

"Can I take her back?" Will asked sheepishly and Way handed Amelia back to him

"She's so alert and awake"

"She probably thinking who's this strange man holding me" Jay quipped

"Haha" Will said sarcastically, pulling a face at Jay and Hailey laughed

"How are you? How are you feeling?" Will turned to Hailey, still sitting next to her on the bed "I was so wrapped up in her I forgot to ask"

"I'm okay, tired, but that's nothing unusual"

"No pain or anything?" Will asked going slightly into doctor mode

"No pain that's out of the ordinary" Hailey nodded

"You'll let me, or your doctor know right?"

"Yes Will, of course I will" Hailey smiled at how protective he was "Jays been mothering me enough so if anything does go wrong, I'm sure you'll be the first to know" Hailey half joked, and Jay pulled a face at her

"I have not-" he stopped himself when Hailey tilted her head at him "okay maybe I have, but just a little bit" he sighed in defeat but smiled

"Mother hens, the both of you" Hailey pointed between them which caused them all to laugh

"God mom would've loved you" Will chuckled

"Yeah, she would've" Jay agreed

"Hey, she would've been so proud of you both" Hailey told them softly "so proud, you're the best fathers and uncles and men I have ever met" She continued

"Thanks Hails" Will gave her a half smile and sniffled "means a lot"

"Always" she squeezed Will's arm gently and looked up at Jay who was wiping away some tears of his own. She gave him an 'are you okay?' look and he nodded

"I'm okay" he mouthed to her giving her another nod, she scanned his face and determined that he would be okay for now but that they would talk later as she knew how much his emotions got stirred up at the mention of his mom

The three spent the next thirty minutes or so continuously doting over the small redheaded baby until Will's pager went off signalling that he was needed down in the ED. Hailey took the baby back into her arms and said goodbye to Will, he gave her should a small squeeze in return before moving to hug his brother

"Thanks for stopping by man"

"Of course, keep me updated on anything that happens?"

"Yeah of course man"

"See you later"

"Goodbye William" Will rolled his eyes at his brother and gave Hailey a small wave before exiting the room.

Hailey turned her attention to her husband who was now looking at his phone

"What's up?"

"Just a message from Vanessa" he told her

"Everything good?"

"Everything's perfect, they're just finishing up breakfast waffles and then they'll be on their way"

"I missed Zoe and Sebby"

"So did I"

"I'm worried"

"Worried?"

"That they'll feel like we won't have enough time for them anymore, with Amelia here…" Hailey trailed off, tears starting to form in her eyes

"Hey, hey hey, they're gonna be okay Hails, they love you and they already love Amelia so much"

"I feel like I won't be able to give them as much time as i usually do, I don't want to do that to them" she sniffled

"Hey, no, you'll still be able to do things with them like you usually do, that's not gonna go away"

"I don't know" she sighed

"We can just take every day as it comes okay, having three five and under is gonna be a challenge but when have you ever been one to back down from a challenge, huh, Hailey Anne?" Hailey gave him a half smile

"That's true" she wiped her eyes with one hand, Amelia still in the other arm "can you put her in the crib please?" She asked after looking down at the now sleeping baby

"Yeah of course" Jay gently scooped up his daughter and pressed a soft kiss onto her forehead before placing her into the little plastic hospital crib.

He sat in the empty space on the hospital bed next to Hailey and took her hands in hers. She trained her eyes on their connected hands, not looking up at him

"Hails, can you look at me?" He whispered

She lifted her head slightly to meet his eyes, he could see the tears filling in them again as she but the inside of her cheek

"I feel like a bad mom"

"You are not a bad mom, no way"

"But I feel like it" Jay's heart broke at the sound of Haileys voice breaking, he moved one of his hands to cup her face, using his thumb to wipe a stray tear

"Zoe and Sebby love you so much, they adore you, you could do no wrong in their eyes. I see the way they look at you Hailey, they idolise you" he told her

"and I see the way you are with them all the time, you're the best mama they could ever ask for, you do everything for them, and these past couple weeks the way you made sure that you did everything they wanted just to make sure they know they're loved and they won't feel like you don't have time for them, Hailey that's so far from being a bad mom, okay?"

She sniffled and sighed, giving him a small smile before resting her head on his shoulder

"Thank you, for keeping me grounded" she mumbled into his shoulder

"You keep me grounded, I keep you grounded, that's our thing babe" he stroked her hair gently

"I love you" she said sitting up finally making solid eye contact with her husband

"I love you too" he replied with a soft smile, a smile that was dubbed his 'Hailey smile' by Vanessa "why don't you relax a little bit before Vanessa and Kev get here?"

"Hmm that's a good idea" Hailey laid back into the bed

"I told Vanessa text when they're downstairs, so we'll have a heads up before they come up"

"You relax too"

"Think I might just sit here and stare at her"

"You do that then" Hailey mumbled sleepily

Jay smiled to himself, thinking about how he really hit the jackpot with Hailey. He never thought he would have this, a wife, kids, being a sergeant. He never aimed for sergeant, even though Voight made it very clear that was what he wanted for him, Jay never knew if that was what he wanted, he just wanted to make the city a better place and after the way Voight dragged not only him down but Hailey too, he would've been damned but to give that man his wishes.

But after getting his head back on straight in Bolivia and being offered the Sergeant's job when he got back, after Voight's death, he took the job.

He wanted to be better, to do better and with Haileys encouragement, he became better, they did better, she always made him better. Better than Voight, better than anything that Voight could've imagined, and they did it the right way, the legal way. Voight wasn't there to drag them down, to drag the unit down anymore.

Without having Hailey in his life, he honestly thinks he would've fallen off and into the deep end years ago and he would probably be dead. He would be forever grateful to her for that, forever grateful for her giving him everything he never thought he would have.

He looked between his now sleeping wife and their new baby daughter and smiled 'how did I get this lucky?' he thought to himself while he sat there looking at his girls, his girls. He was proud of himself and how far he had come, from the man he was, doing reckless shit like sleeping with Camilla to being a decorated Sergeant, an amazing husband and an even better father. He didn't give himself credit a lot, but he was damn proud of himself and everything he has accomplished in the past few years of his life.
