After staying in the Hospital for a couple more hours Kevin and Vanessa took Zoe and Sebby back home to watch them for the night again as Hailey was staying in the hospital for one more night.

She was nursing Amelia as Jay walked back into the room after walking Kevin, Vanessa and the kids to the elevator, he smiled at her, his 'Hailey smile' as he walked back into the room.

"What are you looking at me like that for?" Hailey questioned.

"I'm just happy" he told her, sitting on the bed next to her, she moved over slightly and carefully as she was still holding Amelia so he could sit next to her properly and put his legs up as the bed was big enough to fit both of them, even if it was a tiny bit squished, but she missed him being next to her in bed as she had essentially slept alone last night, even though he was in the room.

"I'm happy too" she told him as she smiled down at the baby in her arms and then rested her head on his shoulder. He pressed a soft kiss onto her head, and she sighed happily, she missed him being pressed up next to her side in bed. After Amelia had been fed and burped, Hailey handed her over to Jay, they both watched as her eyes fluttered closed as Jay gently rocked her to sleep.

After holding his sleeping daughter for a while, he put her back in her little hospital crib carefully, so as to not wake her. Hailey took this as an opportunity to snuggle into her husband's side more, she has missed the comfort of his warm body next to hers. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and gently pulled her hair out of its bun. He knew if her hair was pulled tight for too long, she would start to get a headache. He massaged her hair after pulling it down and she sighed happily into his chest, she always loved it when he played with her hair or when he gave her a head massage, it was something Zoe had grown to love too, and it always ended up with both his wife and daughter falling asleep. Jay may or may not use that to his advantage when it comes to Zoe and she won't go down to sleep, he'll pull her onto his lap for a cuddle and let the miniature Hailey chatter on about whatever it was she wanted to talk about, obviously trying to avoid her bed time and stay up later, and he would slowly massage her head and she would be asleep in his lap within ten minutes tops.

Hailey would often fall asleep when he massaged her head too, at the beginning of their relationship it was just something he would absentmindedly do when she was tucked into his side, head on his chest and it always helped her sleep better. Once he realised that he made sure to do it as often as he could and he knew she knew what he was doing and she knew it helped her sleep, but she would always be too shy to ask him to do it for her. The first time she asked was in the middle of the night when her insomnia was driving her insane. They had three hours till they had to get to work, and she hadn't slept for even a minute.

She hated waking him up out of his sleep, knowing that he struggled to sleep himself sometimes too but she was just so desperate to sleep at that point, so she woke him up and asked him, it took a while but within the hour she was asleep and when she woke up it was to the smell of waffles and the clock on her bed side table displaying the time as one thirty pm, after going out to investigate the smell and why it was so late she learnt Jay had called in sick for both of them and let her sleep for as long as she needed.

Hailey was slowly falling asleep on Jay's chest when his phone buzzed next to him, he picked it up seeing a new message from Kim.

"Who is it?" his wife mumbled sleepily, still snuggled into his chest, not moving.

"Kim, she wants to know if you're up for any more visitors today" he told her, and she shook her head no.

"Not today" he figured she wouldn't be up for any more visitors today, but he made sure to ask anyway "maybe tomorrow once we're home."

"I'll let her know" and Hailey mumbled a sleepy "okay" and was fast asleep within the next five minutes. Jay held her close, looking over to check on Mila every now and then who was also sound asleep. It had been an eventful first twenty-four hours for the little red headed baby, meeting so many new people.

Jay fell asleep not long after, Hailey's body pressed up into his side helping him relax more. The mere presence of each other always helped them relax more and he wasn't used to not having her by his side, so he was happy that she was feeling up to having him next to her in the hospital bed that was just about big enough to fit the two of them.

The next morning Hailey and Amelia were both discharged the next morning, Hailey was excited to go home and sleep in her own bed and Jay was the same. They also couldn't wait to take Amelia home and to have their other friends finally meet her.

It was a Monday so Kim and Adam would be coming over after three as they had to pick up the kids from school, fortunately they currently had no active cases, so they were able to do pick up instead of their babysitter today. Adam was picking up their four-year-old daughter Dylan as she had started full days at pre-k and Kim was picking up their son Noah who was in first grade, he was six almost seven. Sometimes if Makayla finished school early enough, being lucky to have half days sometimes as she would trade places with her parents and go pick up one of her siblings.

Makayla loved her little brother and sister, and her friends loved them too and they always loved to tag along with Mak to pick them up from school. Noah and Dylan loved it too, they would get extremely spoiled by their big sister and her friends every time they would get picked up. They especially loved it when Makayla had sleepovers with her friends, she would always be sure to include them, she didn't care that they were little, they were her siblings and she loved them so they would be included.

Noah was currently rocking red and blue nails, the same colours as spider man as he saw Makayla and her friends doing their nails and wanted to join in. Dylan had pink nails constantly and of course she had to rope her dad in, so Adam nails were now a variation of Red and Blue, Noah's favourite colours, pink, which was Dylan's favourite colour and purple which was Makayla's favourite.

Hailey was setting Amelia into her car seat when there was a knock on the door, she immediately knew who it was from the multiple knocks in somewhat of a tune. Jay rolled his eyes as he zipped up Haileys hospital bag and called "come in"

In walked the only other red head in the family, a grin on his face, happy to see his brother, sister-in-law and new niece.

"Leaving already?"

"You know how much we both hate hospitals" Jay told him, and he nodded.

"They've got better memories now" Hailey added "still kinda hate them though" she finished with a small laugh.

"I know, I know, I just wanted to say bye before you guys left" He told them "And I wanted to ask if you're sure you want us to come on Wednesday? I know Kim, Adam and the kids are visiting tonight and then you only have Tuesday to yourselves, it's not too much is it?" He looked at Hailey who was sorting out the straps of her daughter's car seat, making sure it fit properly.

"Will, we wouldn't have invited you, Nat and the kids if we thought it would be too much, besides it's just dinner and it's going to be take out anyway so it's not much, the kids will probably just go upstairs and play as well, babies get boring after five minutes when they figure out that they don't really do anything" Hailey told her brother with a laugh.

"I was just checking because Nat was hounding me saying it might be too much and I figured it might be too much as well"

"It'll be nice" Jay told him "We haven't had a good chance to all get together in a while, so stop worrying and tell your wife to stop worrying too, okay?"

"Okay okay, I'll let her know" he held his hands up in a surrender motion "want me to walk out with you guys?" he asked, and Hailey nodded.

"Can you grab the bag and I'll take the car seat?" Jay asked his brother and Will nodded, taking the bag from him.

"You guys got everything?" Will asked.

"I double checked, '' Hailey told him, still sitting on the bed, pulling her hair into a messy bun. Will slung the duffel over his shoulder and Jay picked up the car seat meaning Hailey wouldn't have to carry anything. Will walked them out, after they thanked and bid farewell to their nurses. The truck wasn't parked too far from the entrance of the hospital so Hailey insisted Jay didn't have to pull it round to the front and she would walk. Will put the bag in the front passenger seat as Hailey would be sitting in the back with Amelia, while Jay clipped the car seat into place.

Will pulled Hailey into a hug, saying goodbye and pressing a kiss onto her head "I'm real proud of you, you know that?" he told her after they pulled apart.

"Thank you Will, it means a lot, really" she told him honestly, he was always looking out for her, being there for her, they got closer while Jay was in Bolivia, both of them had lost their rock with Jay being gone and even though he was only one call or facetime away, it wasn't the same, so they learnt to lean on each other and became each other's rock.

Will became one of Haileys biggest supporters and she became one of his and it didn't change once Jay got back, they all only got closer, all three of them becoming a unit in themselves. Jay always loved that Will and Hailey got on from the moment they met, they were always ganging up on him and teasing him ever so slightly even before he and Hailey got together. They banded together in the eight months he was gone; he knew it was hard, it was hard for him, and it was especially hard for them not having Jay around, but Hailey and Will had each other and that he was grateful for, he honestly couldn't imagine being in a relationship where his partner and brother didn't like each other, that would've been hell for him as his family was everything.

Well Will and Hailey did make it seem slightly like hell when they would gang up on him, but Jay wouldn't have it any other way, this was what family is, this is what family is supposed to be.

Jay had finished securing the car seat and Hailey got in the back with her daughter, while Jay said goodbye to his brother. Will opened up his arms and pulled his baby brother into a hug, patting his back.

"I said this to Hailey and I'm gonna say it to you as well, I'm real proud of you Jay"

"Thanks man" Jay smiled at his older brother, hearing his say that was something that meant a lot, they had had their ups and down but, in the end, they were still one of each other's best friends and nothing was going to change that.

"Get your wife and daughter home before they freeze in the back of that truck" Will told him as it was the second week of January "I'll call you later to check in" Will told his brother going slightly into doctor mode wanting to make sure that Hailey and Amelia were okay.

"Okay, talk to you later" Jay waved to his brother as he got into the driver's seat of the truck. Will waved them off and waited for them to leave the parking lot before going back into the hospital to work.

When they got home it was almost one pm, Kev, Vanessa and Sebby already being home. Kev and Vanessa had picked Sebby up around midday from his pre-k, he was only currently doing half days, which they definitely didn't mind, they loved hanging out with the little guy.

They were met by Kevin, who carried in Hailey's hospital bag and Jay carried the car seat, both of them not letting Hailey carry anything. Sebby had just finished his lunch and was sitting on the couch with Vanessa happily explaining as best as he could all his dinosaurs. He was only three so he couldn't pronounce a lot of them properly, yet which made Vanessa's heart melt.

After getting settled in, Vanessa and Kevin had to leave because as much as they loved spending time with Hailey, Jay and the kids they also had to work. Amelia was settled into the baby swing, which was rocking her to sleep, Jay was making up lunch for him and Hailey, just simple sandwiches and they hadn't eaten any lunch before leaving the hospital.

Hailey was in the living room with Sebby, sitting next to his mama, watching whatever children's tv show that was playing, though he wasn't really paying attention, he was a lot more interested in his baby sister.

"Can Mila play now?" He asked his mom currently not having any real concept of time and after being told he could play with his sister soon while he was visiting at the hospital he figured now was soon enough.

"Not right now baby, she's sleeping look" Hailey pointed over at Amelia who was asleep in the swing that was opposite the couch, so that Hailey could see her properly.

"Can I go, see?" Sebby asked, big green eyes looking up at his mother from where he sat next to her.

"Yes, but you have to be gentle and quiet because she's asleep, okay?"

"Gentle and quiet" he repeated and nodded.

Hailey let him off the couch and watched as he cautiously walked over to the moving baby swing, she followed him, crouching down next to him as he watched his sleeping baby sister in awe.

"Small" Sebby observed.

"That's right, she's so small right now which is why she can't play, but she'll be bigger soon and then you can show her all of your dinosaurs" Hailey whispered while she explained why Amelia couldn't play with him just yet, she couldn't wait for the day she would be able to watch them play together but that day wasn't right now and that needed to be explained to Sebby.

"She likes dinosaurs?" He turned to his mother.

"I think she will, if you show them to her"

"I'll share, from my box" he stated before turning back to watch his sister. Hailey was extremely proud of her son and his kindness and willingness to share his toys.

"She gotta nose" Sebby pointed out, being careful not to actually touch her as she was sleeping.

"Just like you" Hailey tapped his nose with her finger causing him to giggle and tap her nose back.

"You too mama!"

"That's right, I do have a nose" Hailey smiled at her son, he was the most adorable and smart little boy ever, if she did say so herself.

"What's happening in here?" Jay asked, walking into the living room with two plates in hand.

"Mila sleeping daddy shhhh" Sebby told his dad, causing Hailey to laugh.

"That's right daddy shhhh" she said while laughing as Jay raised his eyebrows and placed the two plates on the coffee table in front of the couch.

"Are you ready for your nap buddy?" Jay asked, it was a little later than he would usually go down because they had to get Amelia settled in, say goodbye to Kev and Vanessa and then Sebby wanted to chill out with his mom so Jay said he would make lunch for them so Hailey and Sebby could hang out of a little bit before his nap.

"Night night Mila, night night mama" he told his sister and mom before giving Hailey the tightest hug as usual and a kiss before Jay picked him up into his arms.

"Goodnight sweet boy, I love you"

"Love you too mama" Jay always loved seeing the interactions between his wife and their children, no matter how many times they had been in this exact same scenario, Jay would never get tired of it.

When Jay came back downstairs, he found Hailey on the couch, scrolling through Netflix trying to find something to watch, plate on her lap, half of her sandwich eaten. Jay took his place next to her, picking up his plate before putting his arm on the back of the couch and Hailey moved closer to him.

"What are we watching?"

"Umm I don't know, I feel like we've watched everything" Hailey said with a sigh.

"We could always watch a movie?" Jay suggested.

"Old movie or new?" Hailey asked while switching to the movie section.

"You pick?"

"I know it's January now but a Christmas movie?" This caused Jay to laugh.

"Not one of the sappy romantic ones" Hailey gasped with fake offence.

"Those are the best ones" one thing about Hailey was that she was never going to let the time of year mess with her love for Christmas movies.

"How about Home Alone? it's Christmas and it's not sappy so we both win?" Jay suggested.

"Oh yes!" Hailey smiled happily, Home Alone was one of their favourites. It had been playing on cable in the first December of their relationship, it had been a hard day, long case and all they wanted to do was relax and do their thing, Hailey had switched the TV on for background noise but Home Alone had just started so they ended up snuggled up on the couch drinking beer and watching the first home alone, probably finding it funnier than they should've due to the alcohol in their systems but they didn't care. They then found the second one on the Disney subscription Jay had stolen the password from Adam who had stolen it from Kim who had got it for Makayla.

Later that evening the Halstead's were joined by the Ruzek's for deep dish and to meet Amelia. Noah and Dylan had run off with Zoe and Sebby to play in their playroom, the baby not really being interesting to them right now as they were excited to see their cousins.

The room that was supposed to be an office downstairs had become their playroom as they didn't want the kids running up and down the stairs as that would be dangerous. One of two spare rooms upstairs had then become an office, which suited them for now but would get swapped over when the kids were old enough and trusted enough to go up and down the stairs by themselves. Jay met them at the door, leaving Hailey in the living room with Amelia, who was now in Hailey's arms and awake, luckily, she awoke before the doorbell had been rung which avoided any sudden wake ups for the baby.

Jay was followed into the living room by Kim, Makayla and then Adam

"Oh, she's so tiny" Kim awed at the baby in Hailey's arms, sitting on the opposite end of the couch and letting Makayla sit in the middle, Adam and Jay opting to stand.

"This is Amelia" Hailey introduced the baby to them.

"She's so cute" Makayla cooed at Amelia.

"Dubbed Mila by Sebby" Jay added.

"Well would you look at that" Adam said when he noticed the red hair "you guys collected the whole set" this caused everyone to burst out laughing.

"That's the only thing you have to say?" Kim questioned while she shook her head at him but there was a smile on her face at the typical Adam behaviour.

"Congrats man" he said while giving Jay a slap on the back "congrats Hails"

"Thank you, Adam," Hailey smiled at her friend before turning back to Kim and Makayla as Jay and Adam went to the kitchen to order pizza without being disturbed.

"Can I hold her?" Makayla asked and Hailey nodded.

"Just wash your hands first, kitchen or bathroom your pick" she told her niece and Makayla rushed to the kitchen to wash her hands.

"How are you doing?" Kim asked while they were waiting for Makayla.

"I'm good, not as tired as I thought I would be, but I did kind of fall asleep on Jay earlier while we were watching a movie" Hailey confessed to her friend which made Kim laugh.

"I'm glad, how does it feel to have three kids?"

"Surreal, I never thought I would have kids and now I have three, but I wouldn't change it for anything" Hailey told her friend "How does it feel having an almost eighteen-year-old?"

"We still have eight months of her being seventeen so slow down, but it's crazy I can't believe she's going to be eighteen this year Hails, eighteen" Kim said in disbelief.

"How's the college stuff going?" Hailey asked as she rocked the baby in her arms.

"It's going good she's already planning her essay even though she has till November to apply, and all of her teachers have promised good letters of recommendation so she's pretty much set"

"Wow, I still remember the first time me and Jay properly babysat like it was yesterday, she was so shy" Hailey recounted as Makayla walked back into the room.

"Talking about me?"

"Only good things" Kim told her daughter.

"College applications huh?" Hailey asked her niece as she handed the baby over to Makayla, who was basically a pro at this now as she loved to look after her younger siblings and cousins.

"Yeah, gotta write my essay, i just want to get it done so I'm not stressing about it when it gets close to application time" Mak explained "Hi Mila" she cooed down at Amelia, gently rocking the baby in her arms.

"That's smart" Hailey commented.

"Oh, and I'm meant to tell you guys that dad says he's paying for the pizza because he's getting money from Uncle Kelly because he won a bet that the baby would have red hair" This caused both women to burst out laughing because of course Adam and Kelly had made a bet on what colour the baby's hair would be.

"Free pizza, I am definitely not complaining, though I do think I should maybe get a cut of that seeing as the bet was based on my baby" Hailey laughed.

"I'm just glad he didn't lose money" Kim added "they're always making weird bets"

"Oh, I know"

It wasn't long till pizza arrived luckily for Kim she managed to convince her daughter to let her hold Amelia before it did. The kids sat at the small kids table Hailey and Jay had, and the adults at the dining table, joined by Makayla now as she had graduated from the kids table a while ago. Amelia was now in her bassinet fast asleep, rocked to sleep by Makayla who had stolen her from Adam after Kim handed off the baby to him to help Hailey set up for dinner. Makayla had asked to hold her again barely five minutes after Adam had got her in his arms but of course he couldn't say no to his daughter.

The kids being kids happily sat at their little table, making conversation between themselves, in their own little world. The conversation at the adults table switched from the younger kids and how they were doing to work to Makayla's school and college and about the little part time job she had recently picked up in a café, Kim showing Hailey and Jay pictures of Makayla in her server's uniform making Makayla slightly embarrassed but as she didn't really like the uniform, but Hailey assured her that she looked good. They all laughed at Adam letting Makayla take a sip of his beer and her absolutely hating it.

"That's my girl" Kim commented while laughing as Makayla rushed to the kitchen sink to spit it out and rinse her mouth.

Hailey was grateful for the company of her friends and their kids, she had missed them a lot more than she thought she would, having not been at work for months and she wouldn't be returning for some time yet so she was grateful for this dinner, and that Adam paid, it was hard to just spend time together, everyone had their own families and children to worry about so ordering take out and just catching up was just nice.

Hailey ten or fifteen years ago wouldn't have believed anyone if they said she would be having dinner with the family that she had built around her, the co-workers who had become her family, the co-worker who had become her husband, the husband who she had three children with.

It was all that she wanted, and it was all that she needed.

I love this little fic and family I've created but this is the last chapter of this little book, I think I ended it on the most perfect note, and I don't want to drag this out more than I need too so I hope you guys understand that!

However, just because this is the last chapter of this book doesn't mean it's then of seeing this little family, I'm going to be writing other Fics set in this little universe I've created so its defiantly not the end its just the beginning!

I have a whole bunch planned for the new year so I can't wait to share that with you guys! But thank you for following along with this little story it means a lot to me I love you all 3

Can you guys believe that Makayla is almost 18 in this?! Also hoped you guys enjoyed the little snippets of the Burzek family and in case anyone is confused yes Dylan is a girl, I know its typically a boy's name, but I love it for girls, and it was kind of inspired by Dylan Conrique because I love her and her name so much so I just wanted to clear up any confusion there might be.

Anyways this is literally the longest note I've ever done so thank you for reading it and the chapter!
