Contrary to what the men thought, Ichigo wasn't dimwitted. Don't get her wrong, she had some weird off days where she came across as such from time to time. Something that she had believed that she had more or less 'inherited' from all of the years close to and spending a great deal of time with Orihime. But she usually didn't mind it since it sometimes came in handy.
But a majority of the time...she simply wasn't. Dimwitted, that is.
Koenma had warned her that because she was going to be living in a building with demon's and human's alike- that there was a fairly strong chance that one of the demons present in the building may make an attempt at courting her. He had phrased it as 'simply unavoidable'. Especially given who she was and what she was.
And yet despite that, she had thought that if she kept her head down and minimized her interactions with any of the demons there would be less of a chance of what he had spoken of.
Obviously, she had been wrong to some degree. Though she wasn't sure what part of a courtship ritual the fridge being carried into her place had to do with anything.
Even so, now she'd have to watch out for a multitude of different demon courtship behaviors. And honestly, as curious as she was to see how things played out. She was also beginning to get a bit of headache just thinking about all of this stuff.
Still...she was cordial towards the men. After all, she had manners.
"Do you have it, or do you need help?" She asked as the red-head carried the heavy steel fridge into her apartment on his back. He paused for a second upon hearing her concerned question and gave her a small smile of appreciation before simply telling her 'Thanks, but he had it' and then moved on.
And in the end, the fridge was put out of the way against the nearest wall where there was nothing but empty space so far due to her serious lack of furniture. After which, she stood out of the way and watched him check to make sure that it was in just the right spot.
It was then that she realized that it was him, that was initiating a courtship. Which wasn't terrible. After all, he seemed pretty sweet natured and kind for a demon.
And those were certainly a couple of the type of qualities that she would look for/appreciate in a possible life mate for herself. So, she let him do as he liked as one of the other men finally said something about introducing themselves since they had forgotten to do that before.
She simply smiled as they told her their names. And even managed to stop their friend's fussing over the fridge long enough to introduce himself too.
Yusuke Urameshi- the former Spirit Detective of Spirit World and two of his friends and co-workers- Kuwabara and the fox demon known by all of Spirit World for his notoriety, Kurama, were all in her home.
If she were a far of all things Spirit World- she likely would have been a fan girl. But thankfully, she wasn't. Otherwise, she probably would have completely embarrassed herself by now.
She was about to introduce herself to them when she heard Yuki let out a loud scream and then had the unabashed joy of seeing all three men go utterly ramrod stiff where they each stood. Their expressions though, were the funniest things that she'd ever seen before.
They looked startled, confused, surprised, alarmed, worried and a myriad of other things that nearly made her laugh aloud as she politely excused herself to go see what had her baby scream like she had.
Thankfully, she didn't have to leave the room and the three men could see everything that she was doing. Apparently up until Yuki had screamed, they hadn't even noticed that there was even a baby in the room. Not that she could blame the men any since she'd technically had the baby hidden by some pillows and other stuff over by the TV.
Dropping down to her knees next to the infant, she cast a quick glance at the TV to see that she'd missed the Magic Dance song. No wonder Yuki had screamed like she had.
They had a routine where anytime the song came on; Ichigo would pick the baby up and sing and dance with her in her arms while the song played.
So, the fact that she'd missed the song had Yuki pretty outraged about the lack of singing and dancing right then. So much so that the infant was about to start screaming in earnest.
"Aww, I'm sorry Hime. I didn't mean to miss the song," She said gently as she picked the baby up and arranged her so that her head was lying on her shoulder as she stood up. "I'll fix it, baby. Just give me a second." She crooned as she quickly grabbed the remote and rewound the movie to the beginning of the song while the three men all stayed back, watching her with wide, slightly curious eyes.
Re-starting the move, Ichigo took a deep breath and prepared to do her version of the Magic Dance. The second that the music started, she shifted Yuki so that she was resting completely on her arms away from her body, with her little head laying in her hands as she started singing.
"You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power. Who do? You do, remind me of the babe."
Yuki scrunched up her nose a bit, not impressed with her current performance until Ichigo started dancing with her while she sang along with the movie.
"Holy shit." Yusuke muttered looking like he was about to have a heart attack as his hand shot out and he grabbed Kuwabara's wrist in a tight grip.
"I-Is that a baby?" The ginger haired man squeaked out in alarm. "No one said anything about her having a baby, Yurameshi!"
"I-I don't think Kurama knew that she had a kid." Yusuke said worriedly as he turned his head to look at the fox demon and ask him if they should leave, but Kurama had already begun to move away from them.
Yusuke and Kuwabara both made a grab for the fox, but Kurama managed to avoid their hands without even looking at them. And sent the two men falling to the floor with a couple of quiet yelps.
Kurama's curiosity, among other emotions, seemed to be getting the better of him as his mind chanting over and over again, A kit, A kit. Our life mate has a kit! She is a mother!
Excitement bubbled up inside of him, along with some other feeling that was hard for him to place right then. All he knew was that he needed a closer look at the infant that his chosen life mate had in her arms as he watched his chosen finish the song and dance and heard the baby giggle and coo happily.
He moved a bit faster after that, his eyes staying on the two as if he were mesmerized by them as he closed what little bit of distance remained between them until he was standing a mere few inches from them.
From there, he could see the tiny little face of the infant. He could smell its scent too. The infant smelled faintly like milk, and chamomile. A sure indication that its gender was female. Not only that but it had a downy soft looking head of reddish auburn hair, and eyes as vibrant as the indigo petals of violet-colored petunias.
They were beautiful.
She was beautiful.
"Is everything okay?" The woman asked. Her voice cutting through his thoughts, causing him to blink and focus his attention on her instead of the baby.
Kurama knew that he would have to tread very carefully here. Especially since he knew a mother's protective instincts would make the woman even more dangerous than normal if she believed even the smallest bit that he was a danger to her child.
"E-Everything is fine. I-I was just..." Words failed him as far as explanations went.
After all, how was he supposed to tell her that he had wanted to see the infant up close without sounding like some sort of pervert or freak?
"Curious?" She supplied helpfully.
And Kurama gave her a small smile and tried not to look as uncomfortable as he felt right then but still nodded his head in confirmation.
She grinned at him in amusement and shifted her stance around a bit so that he could see the infant a bit better. "Her name is Yuki and she's almost two and a half months old."
Kurama's eyes widened in surprise at the mention of the baby's age, but he still couldn't help but lean in a little bit to see her a bit more. Placing his face just a few scant inches from the infants own. Allowing the baby to see him just as closely as he was seeing her.
The baby smiled at him and then cooed, and he felt himself reacting with a smile of his own as he said softly, "She's amazing."
"Yes, she is."
"And so well behaved to."
"I should hope so. I've been trying to teach her some stuff that I'm hoping she'll pick up eventually. Manner wise, anyways. And she has proven herself to be a very good little student for her momma."
He straightened up, eliciting a shriek from the baby that caused him to freeze up and look at the child's mother in alarm as the words, "What did I just do wrong?" Spilled from his lips in a slightly alarmed tone.
"You didn't do anything wrong. She just does that sometimes," The woman said easily, earning a relieved look from him as he moved back from them a bit as the woman decided to finally say, "I'm Ichigo, by the way."
Kurama gave her a dazzling smile in acknowledgement of her and gently said, "Well, Ichigo...it's nice to meet you. Both of you."
