Chapter 1: To the First Island! Malic Meets a Marine.
The sun shone over head as Malic's dingy floated across the sea, hitting and rolling over the waves with himself snoring to the rocking, a peaceful look his face enjoying his rest.
Thud.
"Hey, watch it buddy!" a voice called out in anger and awoke Malic, making him sit up and look to see he had bumped into a fishing boat.
"Sorry about that." Malic answered yawning and stretching out his arm, rubbing his eyes and looking at the fisherman, "So, what are you doing?"
"My job you jackass, now move your boat or else." The fisherman yelled when a giant fish suddenly jumped out of the water, mouth open and aiming for the dingy. "Damn it, get on now before..." Malic turned to see the fish about to swallow him whole only for a smirk to pop on his face and the fish was launched back up out of no where, landing on the fisherman's boat with a fist mark through they back of it's throat.
"Hey!" Malic called out to get the fisherman's attention, "Is there an island near by? I'm starving." It took a moment for the shock to get his words through his head.
"Oh, that way. I can give you lift." The fisherman said smiling and Malic smiled back, nodding to except the ride to an island for a mean.
Malic watched the island come into view, smiling at seeing the many ships surrounding the small island as the fisherman and his crew worked to get into port, untying Malic's dingy and offering him some extra gold as thanks for the catch. Departing, Malic looked around to the citizens moving about their day, buying, selling, and everything in between. Smiling wide, and hearing his stomach growl, he headed into the small port town looking about for something to eat. There was so many things to try his nose was pulled in every direction until the smell of meat took over and he was lead into a tavern filled with people of all likes conversing and laughing.
"Hello, have a seat anywhere." a young woman called out smiling two trays of food in both her hand and handing them to some of the rowdy costumers. Malic smiled and sat by the bar, looking around to see every one having fun and enjoying themselves.
"What can I get ya?" a voice asked and Malic turned to the bartender in the middle of pouring some meed into a cup.
"You have any cola or something, not a real fan of booze." Malic got a strange look from the him before placing a cold bottle in front of him and the young woman walked up to him, "Hey, can I have some meat like those guys over there?" Malic threw his thumb over his shoulder to the rowdy guys behind him.
"Sure thing." She said smiling and went into the kitchen, getting his order in and Malic sat back enjoying his drink and waited when she popped out with another persons order, handing it off and moving for the next order.
"Hey babe." a drunk man reached out and grabbed her arm, grinning through crocked teeth, "Why not give us a special serves."
"Back off jerk." She said pulling herself free from his arm and tried to walk away, only for a slap across her face sent her to the floor.
"You were saying?" He scowled standing over her and moved to slap her again, with a hand grabbing his.
"Now now, there's no need for that." Malic said standing behind him looking at him series, "You shouldn't really strike others like that, fighting should be used in the right way."
"Bastard!" The man yelled turning and throwing only for Malic to throw one of his own, shocking him with the force and sending him through the window of the tavern. The guys friends along with the rest of the patrons looked at the window and at Malic, his fist clinching tightly with a smile on his face looking at the girl, who was even more shocked then the other.
"You need to leave, NOW!" The bartender yelled out pulling Malic's attention shocking him.
"But I haven't gotten my meal yet." Malic started pointing to the kitchen.
"I don't care, do you have any idea what you did?" He asked confusing Malic even more.
"That was a marine." The girl said slowly standing up, the red mark on her cheek clear to see, "And the captain here is very strict when it comes to officers getting hurt."
Outside, a crowd formed around the fallen marine out cold in the street with sweat forming on their brows when the sound of foot steps began to move towards the scene, a marine jacket draped over their shoulder, black pants and long sleeve shirt with a clerical collar around their neck with a cross hanging from around his neck. Jet black hair cut short and brown eyes contrasted his milky white skin with two swords hanging from his hip. The crowd moved from the marine and they looked them over when they turned to see a broken window and moved towards the noise.
"But I'm starving, you can just refused to feed me." Malic yelled out when the door open and the bartender he was fighting with stopped looking at the door.
"So, you're the one causing trouble here huh?" Malic turned to see the young marine, his right hand firmly on the hilt of his left sword, standing ready for combat.
"Wait, it's not what..." Malic started with the marines friend yelled out.
"He went wild because his food was taking too long and struck the waitress." One the guys friends bellowed and the marine moved instantly, drawing his sword and pointed it to Malic.
"You dare strike the innocent?" He launched forward, singing his sword across and Malic crossed his arms where the blade stuck, making him skid back a few feet. The marine stayed for a moment his eyes on his blade, staring at the metal and his eyes looked at Malic to see his arms covered in white scales. "You're a devil fruit user?"
"Yeah, I ate the Scale-Scale Fruit, which allows me to turn my body into scaly armor." Malic explained with his fists covered in the scales too.
"Hmmm, then I would have to try harder." Dante said drawing other sword and crossed his arms, staring down at Malic, "Divine Sword Style: Gate Crusher." Malic pulled his arm back and threw his fist at the charging marine.
"Cobra Strike!" Malic's fist clashed with his blades and both of them gritted their teeth staying in a stalemate for a moment until jumping back. "You're pretty strong."
"I don't want to hear it from a criminal." The marine yelled out launching another attack with Malic matching his strikes with his punches as the bar thinned out with each moment they clashed yet neither got an opening from their blows and they continued when another figure noticed the crowd running. The few left watched the sword swinging and fist throwing between them until the young lady had seen enough.
"STOP!" Her appearing in between them was enough to get the them to stop.
"Move." The marine yelled out and she turned to look at him annoyed.
"No, because you're both destroying the tavern because of a liar." She yelled out and placed her finger on his chest, "This man didn't strike me, those jerks lied because your fellow marine tried to force himself on me."
"W-wait, what?" His eyes turned stared at her and his hands began to shake, "W-why should I believe you?"
"If he did, why would I stand up to stop you?" Her question was simple yet it stopped him and he looked at Malic, noting everything that they had done in this fight.
"I-I guess." He stared.
"Whoa, what happened in here?" A cold, calming voice filled the room, and with a simple question, the marine began to sweat with a figure coming into the tavern. He was huge, standing nearly 12 feet tall with a broad build with tan skin, pale skin, messy green hair, and a club in his resting on his shoulder wearing a grey suit under his marine jacket and a smile on his face. "Oh Dante, you seem to be have jumped the gun don't you think?" He asked with Dante slowly moving to look at the man towering over them both.
"C-Captain Kumi." Dante said watching the man walking over and stood in front of the young lady, "You have a very gutsy personality to step in front of two fighting like that." She gulped and nodded, staring at his green eyes follow his gaze to Malic, who was standing behind her.
"So, you're the guy in charged of the marines here?" Malic asked slowly lowering his fists and looking at him with a raised brow.
"That I am." Kumi said smiling from ear to ear, "And I have to say I am so sorry that my men have caused you so much trouble."
"That's no big deal, I'm only here to refuel before I head off." Malic answered him looking at Kumi with a smile appearing on his face.
"Oh, are you on a trip or something?" Kumi asked his eyes looking at Malic, seeing his hair and eyes seeming mismatching.
"Kind of, I'm looking for a place called Valo and find out were I came from." Malic said with Kumi falling silent and the bartender's stare of horror was missed by Malic.
"I see." Kumi said and moved at a speed against his build, slamming his club into Malic's face and sending him through the back wall hard. All inside looked at the heap that was Malic laying on the floor, "Dante, cuff him and bring him in."
"C-Captain?" Dante asked confused.
"NOW, NO ARGUING!" Kumi yelled and pushed his away out, rage fuming from his body and leaving the young marine in a state of shock for the sudden outburst.
