Epilogue:
Five Years Later
They'd heard rumors about Arendelle. A rich kingdom guarded by an ice witch. They didn't believe the part about the witch. But if the kingdom was indeed as wealthy as the stories said, then they decided it was worth a visit.
Ever since the thirteenth prince of the Southern Isles had been thrown in prison for attempting to murder the queen and princess of Arendelle, the king had cracked down on all crime in his kingdom. These days, it was impossible for a pirate to make any sort of living anymore.
So when they'd heard rumors that Arendelle had grown even richer in the eight years since Prince Hans had left it (they were allegedly doing a lot better economically since they'd ended relations with Weasel-Town), they thought that they ought to…expand their enterprises.
Along the way, they'd met other ships in the same line of business as them. It didn't take much convincing to get the other pirate captains on their side, with the promise of a share in all booty sealing the deal. Before long, they had a small navy of ships ready for battle.
They'd been sailing for weeks when they finally entered the fjord. And there it was: Arendelle. The castle could be seen from the water, and they all had to admit that it was beautiful. Just the target they'd been searching for.
Their ships had been seen when they entered the fjord, but no one paid the guard any mind. Nor did they care when a gust of wind blew a piece of paper out the window at an impossible speed. They were ready for any ships or soldiers that could possibly stand in their way.
In their arrogance, they didn't acknowledge the strange, roaring shriek that came from the north. Nor did they even bother to look up when a snow cloud covered the sun. It was only when a fireball hit the front of their ship that they took notice. And what they saw chilled every pirate to the bone.
A large black monster landed on Arendelle's dock, spreading its enormous black-and-gray wings as far as they could go while roaring. Sitting on its back was a woman in her early thirties, dressed in white. Her face was the picture of fury as she stared at the invaders.
"Leave Arendelle now, and NEVER return!" She commanded. The creature she sat on roared again, as if echoing her order.
"We're not scared of you and your lizard, lassie!" The pirate captain roared in response. He was about to say more when the woman shot something pale blue and sparkling at his ship. It hit the bow. Before the captain could blink, the entire front of his ship was covered in ice. Said ice weighed it down until it started taking on water. Soon all of the pirates were scrambling for lifeboats.
On the other ships, the pirates stared in fear as the lead ship went down before she'd even fired her cannons. Once her pirates were aboard the other ships, all eyes turned to stare at the dock.
The woman was still there, still sitting upon the black beast. Both wore matching expressions of fury. "I'll only say this once more. Leave. NOW!" She called. The lizard fired a fireball at the armada, setting the flag of one of the ships aflame.
Thus followed the fastest retreat in pirate history. No one could steer, hoist, or row fast enough. The pirate captain who'd been heading the boat that sank refused to speak for three hours. And for a long time after, he had a rather unusual fear of ice.
It was only after the pirates had left Arendelle's waters that Elsa dared to relax. She let out the breath she hadn't known she'd been holding, and heard her dragon warble. Wanting to know that she was okay.
"I'm okay, Maelstrom." She gave him an affectionate scratch. "You did great."
From behind them came a wild applause. They turned to see all of Arendelle cheering for them. Olaf stood on top of Sven, clapping his stick-arms. Sven stood braying for joy next to his mate and their six calves. King Kristoff cheered as loudly as anyone, holding his oldest son on his shoulders. The loudest cheers came from Queen Anna, who held her baby daughter on her hip while she held the hand of her youngest son.
Maelstrom roared for joy as Elsa laughed. Once again, she'd defended her home. With her Night Fury by her side.
