The dinner part of their date had gone well, in Kurama's opinion. Especially since he had finally learned about Ichigo's previous involvement with Spirit World, and a bit more about her years working alongside its military. And with that particular story out of the way, it left the rest of their dinner open to more...pleasant conversation and even more discoveries about his chosen.
One of which was the startling fact that she was only part human.
She only mentioned it because she was regaling him with one of her many 'military' stories that had to do with battle, which was apparently when she had found out about that fact. And he was all ears the entire time she spoke. His mind a whirl with various questions and other things about her non-human half.
She even mentioned that she got her human blood from her mother, when he finally got the chance to ask her about it. Which meant that her father was either a demon of some sort, or an apparition that had been living as a human for the better part of twenty something years. Maybe longer.
And while that wasn't exactly anything concerning, at the same time it also was. Especially since he didn't know her father's nature.
Either way, it was something that he would have to bring up to Yususke and the others so that her father could be investigated. He would even bring her father up to Koenma when he next saw him since he was still upset with the prince for not keeping him informed about the war.
Those things aside, however, he also learned that he and Ichigo were a match made in heaven. They were both half human's, living as humans. They both had family and friends that they adored and would risk their lives for. They were both fighters of great skill.
Well, he was anyways. But due to her years involved with Spirit World, he could only assume that she was as well since she had survived situations far worse than anything that he and his friends had ever encountered during the first Dark Tournament.
Which was saying a lot about her ability and skill since those situations had had to have been incredibly difficult for her for a variety of reasons.
Still...those were things that he didn't wish to dwell on at the moment since they had just finished dinner and asked him, very sweetly, he might add- if he would like to meet her family soon.
He had paused in pulling out his wallet to pay for their meal and sat himself back down because he was sure that if he didn't, then the sudden giddiness and joy that he felt may have knocked him right off of his feet. His heart fluttered in his chest, and his mouth went a bit dry as he turned the question over in his racing mind.
She wanted him to meet her family.
That meant that their courtship was getting more serious- one step closer to an actual mating. His fingers twitched on the table, and he felt his lips quirking up into a pleased smile as he asked her, "When?"
Up until that point Ichigo had been patiently waiting for his answer while watching him. She could hear his heart pick up speed in his chest and smiled as she noted that his body language practically screamed of excitement to her. "Whenever you feel up to it."
"I'm free tomorrow. Is that too soon?" He asked her with a smile.
"That's fine. We can go around lunch time if you want. That way we can hang around for a while and you can talk with them a bit."
"That sounds wonderful." He said as he stood up again but took a moment to lean down and press a quick kiss to her lips before then resuming his actions of retrieving his wallet and paying for their meal.
It only took him three minutes to complete his task, after which he returned to their table to help her up and then led her from the building. The moment that they were both outside, he slipped an arm around Ichigo's shoulders so that he could hold her close to him as they walked to the car, chit-chatting about their upcoming trip.
It was difficult for him to describe how he felt about finally meeting her family. He was honestly excited, and happy, but anxious and nervous as well since he wasn't sure how her father would take his daughter being courted by a demon.
Not only that, but he needed to have her meet his own family at some point and he couldn't help but feel a bit anxious about that too.
Taking a moment to stop walking, Ichigo looked at him curiously as he suddenly blurted out, "How would you feel about meeting my parents? Right now? Before we go dancing?"
Her eyebrows disappeared underneath her bangs as she stared at him. Her expression a mixture of amusement and startlement as he waited for her to respond.
"Right now?" She asked, sounding interested. He nodded his head sagely as she took a second to look down at herself as if wondering why the hell she bothered to get dressed up for their date if this was going to happen.
He figured that it was because she wasn't comfortable meeting them just yet and was about to tell her that it was alright. She didn't have to meet his family right this moment if she wasn't up for it. He just...wanted her to know that the offer was there.
But she finally looked at him again and said, "Yeah, okay. Let's do it." He gave her a blinding smile and quickly ushered her to his car and unlocked it so that they could get in.
It wasn't until he had pulled out onto the street to drive them there that he actually heard her say, "I feel a bit overdressed for the occasion though." And he laughed at her for a minute before assuring her that she wasn't overdressed. She was perfect.
All in all, the drive was a short one.
Kurama was so excited about finally bringing a girl home to his parents that he nearly started speeding. And he probably would have if Ichigo hadn't stopped him by reaching over and placing her hand on his upper leg and then giving it a slight squeeze that almost had him jumping in his seat.
The touch felt a bit more intimate than he was expecting from her. But it worked well as slowing his speed down. After that, he made sure not to drive so fast the rest of the way.
The moment that he pulled up to his parent's home, he parked his car in his usual place and looked over at Ichigo who was looking at his childhood home as if she had never seen a house before in her life. And he couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind at that moment to put such a look on her face.
"Are you sure that you want to do this?" He asked cautiously, half expecting her to say no.
But instead, she just gave him an oddly a wistful smile and told him that she was sure and soon after that she climbed out of his car and gently shut the door and waited for him to join her. He didn't need any more prompting than that to get out of his car and walk up to her and take her hand in his, to give her his support.
Walking up to the door, probably felt like facing an execution to Ichigo.
He could only imagine how nervous and worried she must have been at the moment, yet it pleased him to know that despite her fears and concerns in regard to his parents- she didn't falter, turn or make any attempt to run away.
No- she held her head up high and walked alongside him up to the door with all the grace and regal bearing of a Queen and knocked on his parent's door while he took possession of her free hand in his and raised it to his mouth to press a reverent kiss to her knuckles as they both stood there waiting for someone to open the door.
It only took a moment or so for one of his parents to open the door, and when they did- he grinned as he looked into the curious face of his father.
Seeing him standing there startled the man, but not nearly as much as having Kurama push Ichigo in front of him, settle his hands on her shoulders and say proudly, "Look what I caught to bring home!"
