Before I leave, the Kecleon gives me some berries as congratulations, an apology, and to help with my injuries.

Hypno and I both walk out of the courtroom, sharing in the emotion of absolute relief.

I turn to Hypno and ask him a question;

"Why did you fight if you were innocent?"

Hypno sighs and begins his explanation.

"If I got captured, the evidence against me was too much. I couldn't fight it as he faked it too well... But when you came in, I knew I couldn't say nothing. Even if unintentionally, you saved my life."

I continue to interrogate with more questions.

"I'd prefer to just be called Hypno, I have no name. I have never had a name." Hypno replied.

"Well Hypno, I know your house isn't available, do you need a place to stay?" I ask him.

With guild rules, I now should have ownership of my team's house. Even though I hold every right to it, it feels as if it was never earned.

"Yes I do, but why?" Hypno responds, confused.

"I need a way to make up for that scar of yours." I make up a reason on the spot and point to Hypno's arm; it's scarred from our fight. It's a weird emotion, to change my feelings about someone so quickly. I started to understand that Hypno didn't want to fight us or even hurt us in the first place. He just wanted to get away from us.

"Alright, fine. Tell me where to go and I'll meet you there." Hypno said. I gave him some directions, and after that, he left for his own stuff. I had some cleaning to do and a plan to enact.

I hear a sound come from my door, and having expected this, I open it with a smile and a greeting already prepared.

"There you are!" I excitedly greet Hypno.

In retrospect, maybe I was forcing the smile a bit too hard. It's almost night, so I fulfill my promise and Hypno gets a place to sleep.

I'm unable to sleep on Concord's bed without thinking of her, so Hypno sleeps on Concord's bed, and I took Chary's; multiplying the strangeness of the situation.

"Chary, stop!" I perk up and hear what appears to be a shouting match between Chary and Concord. I can't see anything; only hear them shouting.

"Stay out of this!" Chary's scream echoes and repeats from some mysterious far place.

Just as quickly as it started, the shouting stops. The sun shines into the room, reflecting off of the hardwood floor, and into my eyes.

I wake up before Hypno does. In the morning, I go to the Kecleon stand down the block.

"Kecleon, do you have any apples?" I ask him for my favorite breakfast as I turn the corner.

"Sure thing, it's on the house today for your work on catching that murder'r…" He hands me two apples, and I wait for Kecleon to continue his sentence.

He doesn't, and instead tells me to not waste his time, and to just leave.

Obeying him, I pick up my two apples and run back towards the house.

Walking inside the door, I spot Hypno and immediately toss an apple to him. He wasn't expecting it, yet he still managed to catch it anyways.

"Why are you so kind to me? Yesterday you thought I was a killer." I am unsure of what to say, and it takes me a long while before the obvious conclusion comes up.

"I don't know."

Hypno is clearly disappointed about my answer, but I still have more to say.

"Hypno, I still owe you my life, so come crash here whenever you need, okay?"

"Alright, thanks, Adam! I'll be back tomorrow, so I'll see you around!" Hypno jokes. After he leaves, I decide to rearrange the furniture and do some menial cleaning.

The empty cups are first to go, then the berry stains. I note that Chary and Concord really didn't do as good of a job keeping this place tidy as I once thought. Next, I move the chair so it faces the door, and I move my bed to the opposite corner. I flip the rug and swap the tables with each other. All of these changes do absolutely nothing, but I need to make it different somehow.

I'm done, and my home is now an unrecognizable, unfamiliar house of a stranger; and that's exactly what I wanted. This strange house is now free and it can become my home. My home. I can finally earn it. After the long day of house redecoration, I put more thought into Hypno.

I make a decision; tomorrow will be a big day for both of us.
