It took some time and there was some traffic to worry about on the way, but they eventually got back to the sewers. When they got home, they were greeted by Splinter.

"My students, what is wrong? I got a bad feeling while you were gone." Splinter said. He saw that Raphael and Michelangelo came in first, with Leonardo helping Donatello. April came in after them in concern. Don was holding his belly.

"Donatello's been poisoned, Master." Leonardo stated.

"Let him lie down on the couch." Splinter said.

Leo did just that. It would hurt him to move much more. Don was glad to get on the couch. His stomach was flaring pain nonstop.

"Oh, make the pain… stop!" Don cried out.

"Have you thrown up, Donatello?" Splinter asked. Don shook his head.

"We might need to make that happen." Splinter advised. Raphael was to go get a bucket from the lab to bring for Don. Leonardo was to go get the peroxide from the medical cabinet in the bathroom.

Soon, everything was gotten that was needed. Donatello had to sit up and he gave a fearful look at the bottle in his sensei's hands. Splinter had Donatello swallow the peroxide. It tasted awful. Raph held the bucket ready and it wasn't long before the smart turtle was feeling a terrible feeling in his stomach even more so. He moaned and held his belly.

"I… don't feel so good." Don admitted.

"It won't be long now, my son." Splinter said. He gave him a pat on the forehead. He felt feverish.

Finally, Donatello couldn't take it anymore and he leaned over the edge of the couch, throwing up into the bucket. Raph looked away but kept holding it for him. He threw up a good portion of the pizza he had had for dinner earlier.

When he felt he was done puking, Don's stomach was aching even more. The heaves had taken it out of him. He spoke up in a weak voice, "I have to… run some tests… on the contents to see what is… causing this… ugh!" He knew he needed to rest, but he needed an antidote for his symptoms too and he couldn't get one without analyzing his stomach's contents.

Donatello was helped to the lab where he ended up throwing up again. His guts obviously wanted this crud out of him. The poisoned turtle had to reluctantly collect some of the vomit onto a slide and look at it under his microscope. It hurt to just do the analyzing but he didn't have much choice.

What he found was alarming. It was oleander poisoning. He had to have an antidote and fast. He was getting weaker by the minute.

"Oh, gotta lay down." Don moaned. "Hurts…"

"Go ahead and lay down, Donatello, but what do we need to do?" Splinter asked.

"Find anti-dote." Don moaned.

"What is the antidote?" April asked. She was incredibly afraid for him now.

"Med book." Don said.

Leo went to the bookshelf and brought out a medicine book to look up the problem. "But what did you find out?" he asked.

"Oleander poison…" Don's voice was getting weaker.

"Hurry, Leonardo." Raph shouted.

Leo hurriedly looked through the book. When he found the answer, he read, "Atropine is the most widely used agent in treating oleander induced bradyarrhythmias."

"There's a place in Chinatown that I know of that has such cures." April declared. "I'll go get some."

"Hurry, April, we haven't a moment to lose." Leo decreed.

April hurried out of the lair to find the cures. Meanwhile, Donatello was taken to his bed to lie down more comfortably. He was getting weaker with every moment. He was barely conscious anymore.

"Donatello, I know your stomach is painful, but you must stay awake." Splinter encouraged him.

"Please don't die on us. I'm sorry for all those times I pulled pranks on you." Raphael pleaded to him.

"You're the smartest guy I know. I think it's incredible how you have always been able to fix up what we couldn't." Mike stated.

"You have often gotten carried away in your work, but you have saved us lots of time over the years with all that you know." Leo said.

Splinter was proud of his other three turtles that they were saying how much Donatello meant to them. But it wasn't goodbye, just some comforting words for him to keep fighting.

It was over an hour later before April returned with what she had needed to help treat the poison. Splinter began mixing it together. Don was almost unconscious when the wise rat man made him raise his head. "You need to drink this, Donatello." He encouraged.

Don barely opened his eyes but when the glass was put to his mouth, he had to make himself swallow the liquid, which didn't taste all that well. He was made to drink all of it. "Now all we can do is wait." Splinter said when Don was done taking it.

"We need to keep Donatello awake for a while longer. We can't let him fall asleep." April declared. And Don was wanting to sleep more than anything.

"We will keep him awake, April." Splinter said. He and his other three sons would have to work hard to keep Don awake during this hard time.

"Thanks… for the words… guys." Donatello managed to say. He had heard them. Even though he had now taken the antidote, it was going to still take a while for it to work completely. His stomach was still aching.

"You are strong, Donatello. Keep fighting, my son," Splinter said.

"Still don't… feel good…" Don moaned. His hands were still on top of his belly.

"It will take some time to work, but you need to stay awake." The wise rat man declared.

Over the next few hours, Don's bros, sensei, and April all did their best to talk to him to keep him awake. The medicine was battling hard inside Don's GI tract to help fix the problem of the poisoning. The lining of the organs had become inflamed.

Later in the day, Donatello was given more of the antidote to make sure that it would continue fighting the poison. The bucket was still by his bed should he need to throw up again. But it was past the most critical time now and Don was finally allowed to sleep. It allowed him to escape his world of pain for a small while.

April gave Donny a kiss before she had to go back up top to go back to work. "Take care of him, guys. I have to go to work again." She said.

"We will, April. Thanks for your help." Leo replied.

While Don was like this, now that the worst was over, the others could go back to doing their regular activities in the lair, but there was one person always with Donatello while he was resting right now. It wasn't totally over yet. Maybe after twenty-four hours, the worst would be over but it would still be a while yet.

The evil men were all deposited back in jail and their sentences doubled for escaping. James was really hoping though that his revenge was fully carried out. Having that turtle poisoned was the best thing he had ever done but had been wanting to extend the revenge even further by opening up the plastron. But it wouldn't happen. He and his men would be watched like hawks for a long time.
