1) thanks,

2) I am actually trying to write my own book but that's kinda a side project for me right now,

3) this and Pinterest are the only "social media" I have. But thanks anyways :)

Regulus stayed in the library the rest of the day. Skipping dinner. His roommates would either still be fighting or mad at him, maybe both. And he didn't want to deal with that.

He went to the kitchens just after dinner ended, after all he didn't need to interrupt the house elf's when they were making dinner.

"hello, mister Regulus" the elf's greeted.

"not mister, just Regulus" he reminded them.

"would... Regulus like anything?" A small elf asked him. Once he answered them they ran off to get him the food.

He let out a sigh, even if his roommate's were mad at him, he had the house elf's. He also remembered what his brother said before leaving to go to hogwarts, but he's dealt with much more on his own, this was nothing. Just a little complication nothing he can't deal with on his own, he should deal with it on his own. Besides Sirius may have just been being nice.

The elf's came back soon enough.

"why is mis- Regulus here? Was Regulus not at dinner?"

"no I wasn't." He shook his head.

"if Regulus doesn't mind Ella asking why wasn't Regulus at dinner?" The elf asked.

"I didn't go because my roommates are mad at me,"

"how come?"

"it's a long story"

"oh," disappointment crossed over the elf's face.

"but I suppose if you have time so do I"

"oh, yes. Ella has loads of time. Ella only cooks so Ella doesn't need do much till morning"

"well, I'm a Black, have you heard of them?"

"yes, Ella's friend Cranky was almost Black family elf"

he continued to explain some of his predicament to the small elf.

"please don't tell anyone what I told you"

"oh, yes, Ella won't tell anyone" she promised.

"thank you for talking to me and for the food" he got up to leave.

"will Regulus visit Ella?"

"of course, I'll come the same time tomorrow"

OoOoOo

Regulus continued to avoid his roommates for three days.

He would stay up late (nothing new) eat in the kitchens after meals, wake up early and go to the library and sit in the very back almost all day. In classes he sat as far away from his roommates as possible and ignored them. In potions he worked with Pandora instead of Barty. Pandora had been informed of everything that was going on.

Her knowing didn't do much though, the only class he shared with her was potions and she had her own friends to hang out with. In fact she was quite popular with the other Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs even a few Gryffindors and Slytherins hung out with her. Regulus couldn't take her away from her friends and life just because he had problems.

God knows he hardly helped her with her own problems if at all. It's not that he didn't want to help, but well, if it was family related there wasn't much he could do.

OoOoOo

"Regulus"

Evan and Barty entered the library. Regulus buried his face in his book.

"I know it's you Regulus"

"go away"

"no!" Barty shouted earning a glare from everyone else in the library and getting him and Evan kicked out by the librarian.

OoOoOo

a few more days, almost a week later and Regulus had almost no contact with his roommates.

"Regulus?"

"huh? I'm fine!" His he head shot up, bumping a bookshelf "Oh, hi Remus"

Regulus looked around he was in the library on the floor leaning up against a bookshelf, with a few books plied next to him. He must have fallen asleep avoiding everyone. A yawn escaped him.

"um...why are you sleeping in the library?"

"none of your business!" He snapped. "Sorry," he pulled his knees up closer to himself.

"it's alright. Are you ok? I haven't seen you at any meals, and look really tired" Remus knelt down beside him.

To say Regulus was surprised to see the Gryffindor worrying about him was an understatement. Sure they had boned a bit over books but they weren't good friends (were they even friends?) and he knew that Sirius had told his friends horrible things about the Slytherin.

"um... I don't know if something over break happened or anything but your brother and James seemed concerned about you" Remus said unsurely.

All he knew was that Regulus was being nice to him and the brother who had previously disowned him was concerned. Even odder though was the fact that James, who had only hear Sirius complain and maybe met Regulus once, was concerned.

"I don't want to talk about it"

"ok"

there was unsure silence for a few moments.

"How far are you in that series?" Remus asked.

"I finished it the other day" turns out when you do almost nothing besides read and school all day you finish books really fast.

"really? Wow, that's fast" the prefect said in wonderment.

The two talked about their theories then eventually got debating which characters were better.

"anyway, I got to go. I told everyone I was only going to the library for an hour" Remus left. Regulus decided to leave too not long after that. Classes for the day were over but he could use some fresh air and sunshine so he figured he'd go to the lake.

"you poor half-blood" he heard a familiar female voice sneer.

Regulus wanted to help the half-blood but at the same time wasn't it better to stay safe? You know what? Regulus had stayed safe his whole life it's time to actually do something.

He rounded the corner to see none other than Remus Lupin stuck to the wall as two Slyitherins and a Hufflepuff hexed him.

"hello" He said as nonchalantly as he could, causing the other students to jump and turn around. A seventh year female Slyitherin (the one he heard) some Hufflepuff a year under Regulus and Severus Snape.

"Black"

"Snape" he replied.

Remus watched carefully.

"what are you doing?" He asked in that uninterested, polite (but with an edge that warns you to watch your words carefully) way he perfected.

"hexing him??" The Slyitherin girl stated the obvious.

"maybe I should clarify what I meant. Why are are you hexing him?"

"he's a Gryffindor half-blood and dirt poor" she said as though it was obvious.

"and yesterday he was hanging out with Lily Evans and told Severus to frick off" the Hufflepuff said.

Snape turned to the fourth year and flung another hex at Remus. "Don't tell him that you idiot!"

"oh, ok" the kid squeaked. Regulus's heart felt sorry for the kid. He must have gotten tangled up with Snape, maybe potions tutoring (Snape was second best in the class and was required to help the other students sometimes) and now the fourth year was hexing others and being yelled at but Snape. Not to indifferent to what happened to him.

Just as the other two turned back to Remus, Regulus raised his wand. "Immobulus!" He cast it at the seventh year then Snape. "Expelliarmus" the Hufflepuff's wand came directly to his hand.

"don't get mixed up with these two," he gestured to the Slytherins.

"I can do what I want! And I want to serve the dark lord! I should never have been a Hufflepuff." The kid squeaked. Fine. He thought.

"if I ever see you with these two again or you breathe a word of this to anyone I will break your wand and tell the professors about what you were doing" he tried and this time the kid looked terrified.

"b-but I neeeed my wand!" His eyes started to tear up. "I'll, I'll tell my aunt! She works for the ministry"

"ok. Go ahead tell her. I'm a Black I can afford a good lawyer and I'm just positive that your aunt would love to hear all about how you've been attacking prefects and have plans to join an evil cult bent on taking over the ministry." The kids face went pale and he just darted around the corner.

Regulus sent the Slyitherins flying the same direction quickly casting 'Obliviate' so they would only remember attacking Remus but not Regulus.

Regulus let Remus off the wall.

"wow, um thanks" he said. "Does this mean that you don't agree with the majority of your family?"

"yeah, it's a long story but I've recently been disowned and I'm back on good terms with Sirius. Are you ok?" He asked changing the subject.

"I've been worse"

"here," he cast a healing spell at the cut on Remus's face.

"thanks, where'd you learn that? We just learned that spell" the Gryffindor asked.

"I've picked up some healing spells over the years. They come in handy" he didn't need to say why. Regulus had actually started taking lessons with Madam Pomfrey at the beginning of the year when Sirius couldn't protect him anymore.

"well thanks"

"no problem just don't tell anyone about this, well I guess you can tell the other marauders but no one else"

"alright" Remus agreed.

I really hope you're enjoying this fic, and sorry again for taking down the last chapter but this one I fell is much better.

If you have anything that you'd like to see please let me know and I'll see if I can include it :)

OoOoOo

I'm sorry to say this again but I've been really busy lately so I've had less time to edit than I'd hoped (I'll try to find a better way to do this than editing the night before)

on a similar note if you have any good beta readers you could recommend for this fic I'll be eternally grateful.

OoOoOo

do y'all like longer chapters like this(this is around 2k) or shorter chapters (normally there like 1k)???

and I always end up like doubling my word count in the A/Ns and I'm always like I won't do it again then I do it again (facepalm)

Seriously (or should I say Siriusly?) tho let me know if y'all are annoyed that I write these long A/Ns. I've always enjoyed hearing from the author but I'm super weird.

OoOoOo

Anyway, you know the drill, comment, favorite, follow, hope y'all have a wonderful new year and read the best fanfics

(I'm literally going to be reading fics during the midnight countdown, but what's a better way to start a new year???)
