Welcome back to Guarding Vale: A VPD Story.

Arc One is coming to a close. The Academy was meant to build up our two aspiring Officers into characters which wouldn't stand to be their canonical characters in blues. Now with that in mind team RWBY and JNPR (minus Jaune) won't be making as many appearances as the story progresses. There will be moments but no outlying pattern.

Now onto some review responses!

DragonTetho: I am a huge fan of White Knight along with Arkos. Given the state of the story I lean towards it rather than Lancaster though I have a burning passion for Silent Knight. Shipping isn't the priority for Jaune in my story, but perhaps a few ships might call anchors aweigh. Just keep your eyes open.

DISCLAIMER: I do own a limited edition Pumpkin Pete's Cereal Box signed by Pyrrah Nikos, but I do not own the RWBY Franchise, these characters, or any of the references mentioned here.

Location: VPA | Drill Grounds and Stands

Time: 11:00 AM

Grandstands had been set facing towards the large drill grounds. Beyond them sat rows and rows of foldout chairs and at last the main stage. Draped in black with a podium and chairs atop. Seated in the grandstands were the families of the soon to be Officers, guests of the Academy and the Department, along with other individuals of importance. Though the conversations came to a lull as the MC for the graduation stepped to the podium microphone. Looking off to a technician to see if it was working, they nodded and began.

"Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the Vale Police Academy Graduation Ceremony. Please welcome to the stage Police Commissioner Francis J. Miller, Councilmember Conney Keltz, Academy Headmaster Lieutenant Bill Burgundy, followed by the faculty of the Vale Police Academy."

They all stepped onto the stage from behind the curtains to the applause from the grandstands. Taking their seats they all settled themselves in as Lieutenant Burgundy stepped to the podium. Clearing his throat to the side before speaking.

"Thank you very much, but now let me introduce to you, the Cadet Class of 20XX!"

"El Capitan" by John Philip Sousa plays.

The sound of shoes marching to the music came near as from the adjacent building to the grounds came the Cadets. They began to orderly fill the rows out one at a time. Donning their uniforms with immaculate polishing, and white gloves. From the stands families clapped for their sons and daughters who had made it through the academy. Ever proud of them and what they were going to achieve in the future. Soon after the seats were filled the music stopped and the Cadets stood at attention. Seeing that all were present and accounted for, Bill spoke once more.

"Cadets, at ease. Please be seated."

They all sat down and dug in for the long winded speeches before they were to fully graduate.

Time: 11:56 AM

With the last leg of the ceremony complete. The Cadets all stood together, removing their gloves as the Commissioner stood at the podium.

"This Class has been chosen to be recognized in their place in history of the VPD by this phrase. The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. Class of 20XX, DISMISSED."

The Cadets cheered as they threw their white gloves into the air. Turning to one another and hugging each other. Knowing that they had finally gotten through their 6 months in hell. That they were all now, Officers.

Their duty, to Guard Vale from any that seek to do her and her citizens harm.

OMAKES

The After Party

"Reelin' and Rockin'" plays in the background.

In the glow of a fully reserved restaurant came the joyful chitter chatter of Cadets enjoying a nice dinner out. The whole Class had converged and were enjoying themselves as the main area had been turned into.a pseudo dance floor. The PA system being utilized to pump in the playlist they had all made. Jaune's song obviously bleed through to the ire of some who seemed to reel at the classics. Though for most they kept the spirit up as it seemed to provide an air of class to the celebration.

Group C was scattered all about the place. Bernie, who had been accepted into a Probational position at Patch, was dining with some other Cadets who were heading that way. Sean and Charlie were off playing darts with a few spectators watching their mighty bout. Both had been taken into Probational positions in the Motorcycle Highway patrol. The next to them was occupied by James and Petra, who had seemingly fallen into a deep conversation, James had been assigned to a town near the Border of Vacuo while Petra was placed on the Northern Coast. Long distance being the challenge but the two Officers were up to the challenge. Jeb, Mary, Mavis, Lilah and Jaune were dancing it up with the bulk of cadets on the "dance floor", just enjoying their time together before they all departed on their assignments. Jeb had been assigned to the Harbor District, Mary to Uptown, Mavis on the Southern Coast, and Jaune in Downtown Vale. All seemed to be enjoying the celebration to the fullest.

Tucked away in a little booth, where the music wasn't as loud and with a little privacy. Were Alice and Cardin. Snuggling up together in the booth as they nursed their drinks and side of fries. Alice had been assigned to the Frontier Watch, guarding the outstretched communities which dotted Vale. Though Cardin was placed on a post in his own hometown, Downtown Vale. He was happy to see that he was sharing a probational position with his good friend Jaune. Though the thought of being separated from Alice for that long brought an air of worry to him.

Being the keen eye that she was, she looked up from her cozy spot on his lap. "Cardin? Are you feeling alright?"

"I'm alright, Alice." He lied, to no avail.

"Bull, just tell me what's wrong. I'm here for you, honey."

Cardin loosened his facial expression. Yielding as he replied. "It's just- You know, our assignments. We're not going to be near each other for a while. Especially since you're going to be in areas without CCT signals…"

"Oh you… You're just the sweetest boy ever." Alice said as he reached up and cupped his cheek. "Besides we have a whole month before all of that starts. Enough time for us to enjoy ourselves before I set off for the Frontier."

"Whatever the case, I'll always write to you. Unless that's too old fashioned for you." He said teasingly to her.

Alice giggled slightly as she sat up slightly and fully faced him. "No… No, that's quite romantic actually. And I'll correspond by candlelight with my quil and ink."

"Just like in Uptown Abby?"

"Just like Uptown Abby."

The two laughed lightly at their little joke. Alice had forced Cardin to watch some of her shows. Despite his lack of interest at first he started to warm to the shows. Though he introduced her to a funny show about three middle aged men in cars fooling around. They returned to their quiet little embrace. Watching as the rest of the group partied the night away.

Instructor Gossip

Around the breakroom, the instructor gathered for some much needed rest after a long day of teaching. Laughing with each other on the silly things which occurred in their groups.

"Oh oh! You would never guess what happened in my group today." Cried out Moore with a shit eating grin. "My boy Cardin scared the living daylights out of mygroup. Put his hands on the positive and negative terminals of the car battery and pretended to be electrocuted. Had the whole group running wild in panic. Then he went on and acted as if he was a superhero and had electric powers."

The break room erupted into a fit of laughter before another instructor by the name of Langley stepped forward.

"Oh? Well my Cadets had to perform first aid training today. They then proceeded to wrap 5 of them up in bandages. Turning them into butterflies as they were rolled around the room and hall. Good thing I cleared it up before Burgundy saw it."

Some more laughter joined in on the story fest but oh it wasn't over yet. The door to the room opened as Lieutenant Burgundy entered and poured himself a cup of coffee.

"Langley smokes those Cadets after your break, but I have an even better story. My 22th cadet class pulled a major prank on me and I never figured it out til it was too late. You see they decided to turn themselves into pickles. Funniest shit I've ever seen."

The break room became a tidal wave of laughter as instructors rolled over on their sides laughing from the joke. Slapping their knees, banging heads on walls, and breaking in and out of a brown paper bag.
