Spider-Man: Watch out! Here comes the Spider-Man! After detecting a dimensional anomaly, I led the Dimensional Avengers to a whole new world ruled by gods, monsters, and ugly snake hair people! We teamed up with the angel Pit to save a town from Medusa's Underworld Army! She plans on conquering both universes with the Oscorp weapons and ISO-8 she stole from my world! Just another day in my amazing life.

Issue 2: Magnus and the Dark Lord
Skyworld.
The divine light that abducted Pit and the Dimensional Avengers after their first victory over the Underworld Army transported them to a mysterious floating island high up in the sky above the clouds. Once here, Pit happily announces, "We're here!", while his new friends are left bewildered by their new surroundings.
"Where is here? Angel Land?" Spider-Man quipped.
"Hasn't been called that in 25 years." Pit snarked, "This is the realm of Skyworld! Look on and be awestruck by wonders beyond your imagination!"

From Pit's greeting gesture as the clouds before their curious eyes clear, the Dimensional Avengers are formally introduced to their new temporary home in this dimension: Skyworld. An ancient realm in the sky that houses many floating islands, each filled to the brim with activity. There are the small-winged Centurions, the standard soldiers of Palutena's Army that training to be better troops for their goddess. And there are the humanoid Fighters in armor, warriors who compete in the divine sports of Skyworld. This divine realm is normally forbidden for anyone to enter besides gods and angels. But when the multiverse is at stake, or is entangled in a massive fighting tournament, one Goddess made an exception to allow the Avengers entry.
"Sweeeet…" commented Spider-Man, both sounding and looking as pleasantly amazed by Skyworld as his friends.
"A kingdom in the sky…It is unheard of unless ruled by the gods." Lucina said in astoundment.
"Atlas is nowhere this expansive…or incredible…" Weiss admitted with an astonished look on her face.
"Gettin' a lot of Angel Island vibes. Fitting since you're an angel, Pit." Sonic smiled at his Smash friend.
"This realm is usually off-limits to mortals, but it sounds like we're making an exception today." Pit replied.
"Oh yeah? Who made that decision?" Sonic asked.
"The Goddess that rules this place with her lovely staff!" quipped by a certain divine woman that rules the light.
The heroes turn around to be greeted by Pit's boss, the beautiful Palutena that smiles warmly at the mortals, "Greetings, Dimensional Avengers. The heroes that have the power to control the Exo Stones. My name is Palutena, the Goddess of Light that protects this world from the dark forces."
"Nice to meet you." Spidey said while politely accepting her handshake, "Ever been nicknamed Athena?"
"Not until this moment." Palutena quipped.
"And if Pit is Icarus, and that Medusa woman really was Medusa, then we really are standing in a Greek world." Spidey noted, finally coming to terms with this Greek-based dimension.
"There are differences. Medusa in your world's myth is referred to as a Gorgon. But in this reality, she is both known and feared across the land as the Goddess of Darkness as well as Queen of the Underworld." Palutena stated to the otherworldly heroes.
"She wasn't kidding? Medusa is a GOD in this world? Even if that is true, I find it hard to believe she's also the Underworld Queen. A bit much." Spidey remarked.
A guilty Palutena frowns, "She wasn't always their queen."
"Explain." asked Sonic, stepping up as he wants to learn more of Medusa's backstory.

BGM-Marvel Future Revolution OST-Midgardia
The Goddess of Light complies. Standing solemn with a look of reminiscing, she begins telling her tale of how the god war between light and darkness started, "Long ago, when the Gods and Man lived together in harmony, this realm was ruled by two goddesses. I, as the Goddess of Light, and Medusa, as the Goddess of Darkness. We lived in Skyworld since the beginning, watching mankind develop. I gifted them light so they could live in happiness. Bathed in my light they grew food and lived in peace. However, Medusa was different. Hatred for mankind consumed her heart and made her take great pleasure in drying up the crops that man took great pains to grow and in turning people into stone statues. I could not stand idle while humanity suffered, so I transformed Medusa into an ugly monster and banished her to the Underworld where she vowed revenge. She formed the Underworld Army and waged war against mine. Our fighting was fierce and our power was equal until the day she caught me off-guard and imprisoned me in my own temple. Skyworld fell to darkness and my people were turned to stone. The world was all but lost…until a lone hero came to my rescue and saved the realm."
"Perseus?" Spidey interrupted.
"She's talking about me!" Pit retorted angrily.
"Oh. Good job, kid." Spidey replied casually.
Smiling, Palutena continues her story, "Yes. It was Pit that risk his life to save all. Armed with just a bow and arrow, he escaped confinement in the Underworld and fought across the land and into the heavens to defeat Medusa. Peace had returned and stayed that way for 25 years until today."
"Until Medusa returned to life. How?" The stern Lucina questioned.
"I do not know. What's important is that she's back and even more thirsty for revenge than she was decades ago. Now she went as far as to violate the celestial balance by invading the Earth that connects to millions of worlds. That Nexus Earth is your home, Spider-Man." Palutena answered, sharing a stare with the webslinger, "Tell me: What was she doing there?"
"All I know is that she robbed Oscorp. It's a tech company once run by my arch-nemesis, the Green Goblin. I was on my nightly patrol when I noticed these strange monsters raiding the place, so I did my thing and tried to stop them until I was one-shotted by Disaster Snake herself." Spidey explained his brief encounter with Medusa to the Skyworld heroes.
"Not many humans can withstand her power. It's a miracle you're still alive." Palutena commented.
"I'm just built different." Spidey quipped.
"What did she steal?" Pit asked him.
"Lots of dangerous tech and weapons and ISO-8 that can threaten an entire dimension." Spidey answered.
"I have heard of ISO-8. Mysterious cosmic crystals that can grant one unfathomable power when used correctly. Green Goblin tried to use that power to create his own universe at the cost of destroying countless others." remarked Palutena, revealing her knowledge of the Goblin War.
"Yeah, don't remind me." Spidey quipped.
"If a mortal can cause that level of catastrophe, I don't want to even IMAGINE what Medusa will do with her supply!" Palutena commented worriedly.
"From what she bragged, guessing she's interested in conquering two universes." Spidey snarked.

Looking serious, Palutena declares, "I cannot allow that to happen! I must stop Medusa once again! Thank you for the assistance, Avengers! Leave the rest to Pit and I!"
"Whoa whoa whoa, hold up! You don't want us to help?" Spidey retorted.
"The matters of Skyworld and the Underworld are no place for mortal children that are not of this dimension." Palutena retorted arrogantly, clearly underestimating the mortal heroes.
"Did she just call us children?!" Weiss remarked, feeling offended.
"She's not wrong, but she's not right to think we can't handle this!" Sonic scowled with his arms folded.
BGM-One Piece Pirate Warriors OST-Courage and Power
Trying to get her to reconsider, Spidey argues with the goddess, "Palutena, look! We got amazing spider-powers! Mad awesome superspeed! A swordmaster princess from the future! And Frosty the Abominable Ice Queen!"
"Hey!" Weiss whined.
"We can help you stop Medusa!" Spidey proclaimed.
"Your bravery is admirable and I acknowledge your skill. But Medusa is a god, not a common thief." Palutena argued calmly.
"We've taken down gods and my Earth is in danger too! If you fail, she'll come after it next, and by that time she'll be too powerful because of the ISO-8 you have NO experience of countering! It's best we all work together now and stop her to reduce causalities!" Spidey retorted.
"Please, Milady! Just give us a chance to prove our worth!" Lucina politely requested to the light goddess.
Palutena looks at their eyes and notes an unwavering light of resolve she never seen before in mortals until these four before her. Curious of their potential and reluctant to accept their help, Palutena sighs, "…Alright."
"Yes!" Spidey exclaimed, happily sharing a high five with his team.
"But on one condition!" Palutena announced grimly.
"Name it." Spidey retorted.

With her magic, Palutena summons to her hand a poster regarding Extreme Gear racing, "Can I get an autograph from each of you?
BGM-Dragon Ball Xenoverse OST-Cutscene: "Tokitoki"
The Avengers just blink, silently and flabbergastedly at the adorable goddess smiling her request at them. "Please. I was a big fan of your racing during the DX Multiversal Grand Prix!" She admitted.
"Oh yeaaaah. Didn't watch much of it because I was stuck doing chores." Pit said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head.
"Uh…okay." said Spidey, bewildered by the goddess that wants their autograph.
"Thanks a lot!" Palutena smiled after receiving their autographs. "Now, I hereby declare this new alliance between the Goddess of Light and the Dimensional Avengers official! I shall call it: The Goddess Avengers Alliance!" She announced to her new allies in their unified war against Medusa.
"Bit of a mouthful, but alright. Where should we start?" Spidey quipped.
"I'll give you your mission shortly. For now, prepare yourselves." Palutena ordered.
"Once I call in the Aven-Jet that has our stuff." joked Spidey, interacting with his wrist Webware device.
"Give me a sec." And with a snap of her divine fingers, Palutena warps the aforementioned jet right next to the startled heroes.
"Lady, this looks to be the start of a beautiful friendship." Spidey quipped at the giggling goddess.

Shortly After, inside Palutena's Temple…
"Is everyone ready?" Palutena asked, taking top command of her new team of dimensional heroes.
"Yup!" Spider-Man answered enthusiastically, being the field leader for their missions together from here on out.
"What are these?" The curious Pit points at the two very cool, futuristic-looking motorbikes that match the colors of either Weiss or Lucina.
"Sky-Cycles. Equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry and shields while capable of flying at supersonic speeds. Lucina and I will be riding these to our destination." Weiss answered.
"You two don't have yours?" Pit turned to Sonic and Spidey.
The smiling Sonic claps his shoes together, activating the nanotech that transforms them into a pair of hover shoes resembling Shadow the Hedgehog's in design. "I got new Hover Shoes based on Extreme Gear technology." He revealed as he hovers in the air for a brief demonstration.
"And you?" Pit looked at Spider-Man.
"I'm waiting for Palutena to open the door so I can surprise you." Spidey quipped slyly.
On cue, the mission gate begins opening up for the team. Weiss and Lucina hop onto their own Sky-Cycle and activate them. As Sonic prepare his Hover Shoes for flight, Pit rushes to the door alongside Spider-Man shouting, "And we're off!"
BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST- Magnus and the Dark Lord
The Goddess Avengers Alliance race out the door, and as Pit begins flying with his magical wings, Spider-Man shows off his best tech ever to rival them. "WOOOOHOHOHOHO!" screamed Spidey. Billions of nanobots are released from his Webware that covers him within seconds of freefalling through the stormy skies, granting him a shiny red and black metallic armor with gold highlights and eye lenses that glow blue. Now armored up and ready for air battle, the Iron Spider uses his jet boots to immediately catch up with his friends at marvelous speeds that amazes the angel. "I just wanna say for the record, they haven't invented a WORD for how cool this armor is." joked Spidey, speaking with a new robotic voice modulator that makes him sound cooler.
"That is the coolest thing I have ever seen! What is that?!" Pit retorted in ecstatic amazement of his friend's armor.
"The Iron Spider! Even without wings, I can still fly! Try to keep up!" Spidey teased him before racing ahead.
"HEY!" shouted Pit before chasing after him.
"Ugh. This weather's nasty." Sonic grunted while flying through this terrible weather.
'Yes, but your next mission can't wait. You must defeat Dark Lord Gaol.' Palutena informed the team telepathically.
"Heh. 'Dark lord'? Seriously? Hasn't the dark-lord thing been done to death already?" Pit quipped.
'He's earned it. He's working for Medusa. Her forces are coming from HIS castle. A human army has gone to fight him, but they don't stand a chance.' Palutena proclaimed.
"So, what you're saying is we need a brave hero and his amazing friends to face the dark lord?" Spidey snarked.
'I suppose it IS an old story. But don't forget this is the Underworld Army we're dealing with. And anybody with the title "dark lord" won't be some low-level minion.' Palutena said.
"So what are we talking here? Miniboss? ...Final boss? Well, whatever. I hope this dark lord's hungry for a hot plate of punishment!" Pit retorted confidently.
"That's the spirit, Pit!" Lucina smiled proudly for the young angel.
"We have incoming!" Weiss announced, spotting Underworld Forces heading their way.
"Show 'em your stuff, team!" Spidey commanded while leading the counterattack.
Monsters are plentiful and ferocious in attacks that fail to prevent each hero from countering with swift attacks that blow them away. The Iron Spider has the powerful repulsor rays that make short work of an enemy horde. The high-flying Sonic quick steps from enemy fire before smashing through goons with highspeed Spin Dashes. Weiss rides her Sky-Cycle well and commands its homing lasers with the finesse to demolish squadrons. Lucina is still getting used to such technology but she's a quick learner, deflecting attacks with barrel rolls and retaliating with missiles like a pro. Pit's aerial skills quickly impress the Avengers, taking down numerous monsters with bow shots that gain speed the farther they travel.
The heroes keep flying and fighting with amazing skill until lightning suddenly strikes before them, startling them. "Augh! Glad Tails isn't here! This lightning would scare the fur outta him!" quipped Sonic, while the heroes are now forced to maneuver through the lightning storm.
"Is it coming from the Underworld Army?" Pit asked.
'Where else would it be coming from?' Palutena quipped.
"Sorry…I guess that was pretty obvious." Pit responded sheepishly.
"Where's Storm when you need her?" Weiss grunted, struggling to evade lightning.
'If you don't watch out, we'll be having barbecued angel and fried mortals tonight. And though spicy angel wings sound tasty, I'd best get you out of there.' Palutena joked, using her power to suddenly take control of the heroes' flight path.
"Plus…chicken is much more ECONOMICAAAAAALLLL…!" Pit screamed as they all dive down through the storm clouds to be safe from danger for now.
"Ahhh! Much better! Thanks ma'am!" Spidey replied.
'Don't you ever call me that again!' Palutena snapped angrily at him, much to his confusion.
"Why? I was just being polite! You're immortal!" Spidey bickered.
'Learn to respect your elders by NOT reminding them of their age! You still have to watch out for fire from Underworld troops. Let's get you headed toward land.' Palutena lectured.
"Sure, Ms. Sensitive." Spidey snarked while blasting back the pursuing monsters.
Quickly, the heroes exit the clouds and reach an area with several mountains and canyons that causes Pit to act a little smug, "How in the world would the human army make it across these mountains by foot?"
"We humans don't appreciate your smug attitude." Weiss snarked.
"Uh…I-I-I-It's not that! I'm just really happy I can fly." Pit retorted embarrassedly.
'Angels shouldn't gloat, Pit.' Palutena teased him.
"What I meant to say is that I'm eternally grateful for your help." Pit claimed.
"Let's make our way underground." Spidey detected a good route for them to traverse through.
The heroes head through a fissure and into an underground cave where they fight more enemies. "It's not the most cheerful place, is it?" Lucina commented.
"The Underworld baddies seem to like it." Sonic quipped while fending off goons.
"I suppose it makes sense. They are from the Underworld. Underground areas like these gives them an advantage." Lucina noted.
"It's be like living in a basement." Sonic wisecracked.
Spidey stops for a second to web throw a two-legged Porcuspine at Weiss for her to kill before flying out of the cave and back into the canyon. "Spider-Sense tingling! Something's behind us!" He turns around to notice a large Belunka chasing after them at frightening speed.
"I can never escape whales, can I!" Sonic reacted in horror, having a bad experience with killer whales.
"Let me at 'em!" Pit exclaimed eagerly.
'I'll control your flight path so you don't run into anything. Just focus on shooting and dodging.' Palutena instructed them.
"Got it!" Weiss retorted.
The Belunka vomits out small Underworld forces that keeps Sonic and Weiss busy. Pit tries shooting at the large whale but his attacks are ineffective, prompting Spidey to web-zip to its head and charge a repulsor-powered punch quipping, "Open wide and say aw!", before delivering the attack with the painful force that forces its gaping mouth to swallow a bomb launched by Lucina. From its belly the bomb explodes, killing the whale from the inside out while it crashes into the canyon just as the heroes fly out of it.
'Dark Lord Gaol's castle is up ahead.' Palutena informed them.
"But…but what about that wall?!" Pit noticed worriedly.
'Don't worry. I'll help you over.' Palutena said.
Through divine power, the heroes fly up the massively tall wall at intense speeds that make them all scream, "WHOAAAAAAAAAA!"
"G-FORCE IN MY FAAAACE!" Pit yelled, struggling to endure this crazy speed.
'It's fun, right?' Palutena joked.
"You bet!" Spidey quipped.
"THIS ISN'T FUN AT AAAALLLLL!" Weiss angrily screamed back.
"Where's your sense of adventure?!" Sonic snarked.
"I PRAY THIS WILL END SOON!" Lucina yelled.
It did. Soon after, the ride ends as the heroes arrive at the top of the cliff. "Yeah! Take that, wall!" Pit quipped.
"Look!" Weiss took notice first of a massive army of humans at war with the Underworld forces that possess greater numbers and unstoppable power under the bright moonlight and stars.
"It has been a long time since I witnessed a war this massive…" Lucina frowned, sympathizing with her fellow humans that are taking a massive beating.
'The people will never defeat Gaol with the Underworld forces in their way.' Palutena realized.
"The humans are taking a beating! They need our help!" Pit said.
Palutena frowns, 'Normally I'd agree with you, but…'
"What is it?! People are dying!" Spidey retorted, wanting to hurry and stop the bloodshed.
'Pit's power of flight doesn't last forever. At most, five minutes. And when it runs out…' Palutena started saying.
"My wings…burn up." Pit finished sadly.
"Aw man. Guess you are a Kid Icarus. Sorry, kid." Spidey replied, feeling sorry for the angel that can't fly on his own.
"We don't have time to help the people. It'd be faster we go straight for Gaol." Sonic suggested sternly.
'Sonic's right. I'll take you into the castle. From there, it's up to you to face the dark lord. His defeat will force the Underworld Army into retreat.' Palutena said.
"Roger! Get ready for a display of raw angel and Avenger power!" Pit declared, with the unified heroes flying down toward the dark castle.

BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST- Dark Lord Gaol's Castle
The Avengers arrive inside the dark castle. As soon as they did, Palutena teleports the Sky-Cycles back to her domain, 'I'll keep the Sky-Cycles for safekeeping.'
"Thank you." Weiss replied, just as Sonic claps his Hover Shoes to transform them back to his normal footwear.
"Why are you taking off the armor? It's so cool." The disappointed Pit said upon noticing Spider-Man retracting his Iron Spider Armor back to his wrist device.
"Don't wanna make this job too easy." Spidey quipped while playfully ruffling the angel's hair.
"So this is the dark lord's castle." Lucina glanced stoically, pressing forward before her team.
'Yes, he must've scrambled to build it after Medusa's resurrection. He's using this castle as a stronghold for Underworld monsters. Monsters designed to wreak havoc and sow sadness. Are any of you excited?' Palutena quipped.
"Yeah. It's like a birthday party where everyone wants to kill us." Pit snarked dryly.
Not long after, the heroes hop through an opening in the floor where they wind up in a large hall. "This must be the great hall." Weiss noted.
"And up here top the stairs, there's a door with switches across from it." Sonic noticed upon zooming to the top of the stairs.
"Switches, huh? That probably means we should hit them!" Pit stated the obvious.
"Very perceptive of ya, Pit." The deadpanned Sonic teased.
At supersonic speeds, Sonic hits the switches which unlocks the door. But at the same time, his actions summons a large Ganewmede that confronts Spider-Man. "Big walking skeleton head, hello!" joked Spidey, fighting with web shots that were fiercely countered with a spiked ball that knocks down the hero.
'The enemy with the big skull guarding the door is a Ganewmede. They'll attack when fired at, but they don't do much at all if you don't shoot them. So I suggest using melee attacks or dash shots to take them down.' Palutena advised them.
"Hurry up with the advice next time." Spidey grunted while getting back on his feet.
Following the goddess's advice, Pit uses dash shots in conjunction with Weiss's melee strikes to easily destroy the Ganewmede. They all walk through the door to fight more enemies, just as Palutena senses something odd nearby, 'I'm sensing otherworldly treasure to your left. Must be some stolen Oscorp weaponry.'
"How do you know that?" Pit asked.
'From the heavens, I can see through your laurel crown to divine your surroundings.' Palutena claimed.
"Really? That's amazing!" The flabbergasted Pit retorted, despite the other heroes noticing something unbelievable about her claim.
'And that's not all I can see, Pit. I can also see what's in your heart.' Palutena claimed again.
Pit pauses, "…", before immediately feeling embarrassed by whatever it is he's thinking now, "Oh…Heh heh…That's really…something."
'So you'd better not be thinking about anything…naughty.' Palutena teased.
"What?! How did you-?!" Pit retorted frantically.
'Just kidding. Seriously, reading hearts through laurel crowns?' Palutena giggled.
"There are gods that have weirder powers." Spidey joked.
"I know…I was…also kidding." Pit claimed sheepishly.
'Sure you were.' Palutena teased him.
Just then, Lucina finds the room with a treasure box. She opens it to find one of Green Goblin's classic Pumpkin Bombs and tells Peter of it, "Is this one of the weapons that were stolen from Oscorp?"
"Pumpkin Bombs. Yup. Goblin Tech is right at home in the Underworld. Try it out and learn why it's the bane of my existence." Spidey quipped.
Lucina complies as soon as a monster horde rampages toward her. She activates the bomb and throws it, then she and Pit watches it disintegrate the monsters into nothing but bones and ash. "It disintegrated them!" The horrified Lucina retorted.
"Green Goblin wasn't messing around!" Pit exclaimed, just as surprised by supervillain technology.
"And that was BEFORE he turned himself into a demon monster that chucks fireballs and wears nothing but burned pants." Spidey joked.
"Ugh, disgusting." Pit grunted.
Continuing their fighting venture through the castle, the heroes head down some steps as Palutena informs them, 'You're heading to the lower level of the interior garden.'
"I'm sensing activity down here. What's going on?" Spidey wondered what his Spider-Sense just picked up.

Swiftly, the heroes rush into the garden to find a surprising scene. "Look at that!" Pit exclaimed upon watching a strangely powerful human swordsman make short work of Underworld monsters.
'How did a human make it into the castle by themselves?' Palutena responded in astonishment.
"One super strong." Sonic noted.
The Swordsman finished fighting for a moment to turn and notice the heroes with a little joke, "Well, I didn't expect to see an angel here. Hope this doesn't mean I've kicked the bucket."
BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-Magnus's Theme
"Let's help him out." Spidey ordered his team to assist their newest ally against Underworld reinforcements.
"He's taking on the Underworld Army himself…and surviving! Are you sure this guy is really a human?" Pit asked while defeating monsters with melee attacks.
'Absolutely. Humans have been surprising us a lot lately.' Palutena admitted.
"You having a private conversation with yourself, angel face?" The Swordsman quipped.
"Oh, right. Sorry about that. I'm Pit, servant of the goddess Palutena." Pit introduced himself.
"And I'm Spider-Man, leader of the Dimensional Avengers. We're here to defeat Dark Lord Gaol." Spidey greeted the swordsman midst the fighting.
"So you're here for a slice of the pie too?" The Swordsman believed.
"Pie? I do not understand." Lucina frowned with stern confusion while slashing a demon.
"It's a figure of speech!" Weiss retorted, "And no! We're here to save two worlds from the brutality of the Underworld Army!"
"Sure, sure, you're the heroes here. But me, I'm in it for the reward money. Since we all want to take down Gaol, how about we work together?" The Swordsman suggested a temporary team-up.
"I don't know about that…" Pit responded hesitantly.
"What have you got to lose? It'll be easier on all of us." The Swordsman proclaimed.
"Lady Palutena, Spidey…what do you think?" Pit asked his leaders.
"The more the merrier." Spidey replied, casually accepting the Swordsman's help.
'He makes a compelling argument.' Palutena answered, also accepting his help.
"All right, then. Resuming mission Dark Lord Suppression!" Pit smiled, allowing the man's assistance.
"I'm Magnus, by the way. Pleased to meet you. Don't hit me, and we'll get along just fine." Magnus introduced himself, joining the heroes in their renewed assault on the Underworld Army.
Magnus is perhaps the mightiest human warrior in this dimension. With his massive blade and experience as a mercenary, this swordsman is a powerful ally against the Underworld. He wrecks monsters with leg-level sweeps of his sword and demolishes others with downward swings that sends many flying and crashing into walls. Spidey and Weiss support his assault with icy webbing that freezes a crowd in time to be destroyed by a single wide swing. Sonic then kicks one goon toward Lucina, who slashes it toward Pit, who uppercuts it into the air just as Magnus delivers the final leaping roaring blow that slams the monster with the destructive force to unleash a mighty shockwave that kills off the remaining demons.
"We're in the clear!" Spidey announced that they are free to continue raiding the base.
"I'll follow your lead from here. I've got your back." Magnus grinned.
With Magnus behind them, the heroes feel a lot more comfortable fighting through a narrow, underground passage. "Magnus sure is strong." Pit said, still impressed by his Herculean-like strength.
"There are not many swordsmen as skilled as him. I can witness him give my father a challenge, and he killed a dragon the size of a mountain." Lucina proclaimed.
"He must really want that reward." Pit remarked.
'He may not be made of the sturdiest moral fiber, but that's fine with me.' Palutena gives her comment about Magnus.
"I'm surprised you feel that way." Pit replied, thinking her comment was a little harsh.
'Humans are drive by desire. It's convenient to know what bait they'll chase.' Palutena described.
"Well you're not wrong. But be mindful of the humans that want to help out of the goodness of heart." Spidey responded, partially agreeing with her comment on humans.
"Hey!" Magnus talks to get the spider's attention, "If you're chatting with the goddess, give her a message from me."
"Sure, what is it?" Spidey asked.
"Tell her she's been sleeping on the job! My world is on the edge of collapse!" Magnus said bluntly, with his message being an insult to the god.
Spidey quips, "I relay it. Palutena! Magnus says you've been-!"
'I heard! Tell him he's a jerk!' Palutena intervened angrily.
"Palutena says you're a jerk." Spidey relayed to the mercenary.
"Lovely. She prefers insulting the humans she's supposed to be protecting. Even got you kids to clean up her mess." Magnus snarked dryly.
"We WANTED to help. Don't be so hard on Palutena. She's trying her best. Medusa JUST came back and we're hurrying to stop her." Sonic said to the mercenary.
"It's only when the Underworld is acting up when she does anything. Other times she's just sitting in the clouds watching us humans beating each other up in wars forever." Magnus retorted.
"Gods can't solve every problem. Even they have limits. As long as we never give up and work together toward a common goal, we can change anything." Spidey shared some wisdom that surprises Pit to the heart.
Magnus scoffs, "You think your little team's enough to change the world?"
"Watch us." Spidey quipped with cool confidence.
"Alright. Surprise me." Magnus grinned with growing respect for the webslinger.
Shortly after, the heroes took an elevator that ascended them to a higher floor with monsters that are ready to be pummeled. Pit takes notice of a treasure box midst the fighting, and despite Magnus's tactical mind warning him of it being an obvious trap, Pit's naïve curiosity got the best of him as the trap summons more monsters for them to fight.
"What is wrong with you?!" Magnus criticized him.
"If there's a treasure box, I open it! I can't help it!" Pit retorted.
"OK, we'll see how long you survive with that strategy!" Magnus quipped.
And quickly after defeating the monsters, the more cautious Weiss finds a Hot Spring room. "What's this? A hot spring?" She questioned.
"Oh yeah!" Pit exclaimed while happily racing past the heiress to enter the hot spring.
"Apparently, someone likes his spa time." Weiss snarked.
"Is this really the best time?" Spidey criticized the angel's bizarre mindset.
"Ahhh…Now that's what I'm talking about!" Pit relaxed, feeling the hot spring healing his wounds.
"You go in fully dressed? Don't you at least want to change into a...swimming tunic or something?" Magnus questioned him.
"Oh, no no no! The angel's code of conduct says that we must always be ready for duty." Pit claimed.
"I guess you wouldn't be an angel if you didn't do things by the book." Magnus quipped.
"Yeah…and I don't want to steam the sacred buns." Pit said sheepishly, much to his friends' disgust.
"We're done talking about this." retorted Magnus, while Spidey lifts the embarrassed angel out of the pool and glares at him a disappointed look.
Immediately after, they all enter a room with a long, spiraling pathway. "It looks like a long way up." Lucina noted stoically.
"What, do your legs not work or something?" Magnus quipped.
Left with little choice, the heroes race along the pathway. Most of them anyway. Sonic and Spidey are having fun climbing their way to the top by either Homing Attacking or Web Striking flying troops. "I sense we're closing in on Gaol's lair." Spidey announced as the crew approach the top of the path.
"I hope you're ready." Magnus said.
"Never am." Spidey quipped before entering the throne room.

Inside the Throne Room…
Magnus and the Goddess Avengers Alliance arrive here to confront their villain for the day. The large dark knight with a demonic voice that terrifies man. A general of the Underworld Army that has been leading thousands of infernal troops on a violent crusade against the surface world. His name is Dark Lord Gaol. And he has been waiting for his challenge to show up for death.
"Prepare for defeat, Dark Lord Gaol!" Pit declared to the demon knight.
"Aw, Palutena's little messenger boy and her new pets." Gaol insulted them.
"He did NOT just call us pets!" Sonic retorted angrily.
"This coming from the small blue hedgehog?" Spider-Man quipped.
"And Magnus, it's always a pleasure." Gaol greeted, who is apparently, his old friend.
"Sorry I'm late. I had other business to attend to." Magnus snarked.
"Wait, you two know each other?" Pit retorted in shock, but he'll have to put that aside as the battle against Dark Lord Gaol is about to begin.
BGM-Kid Icarus: Uprising OST-Boss Fight 1
Sonic launches the first move from the heroes' side by unleashing a relentless assault of Spin Attacks that Gaol evades with seamless flight across his throne room in order to gain the upper hand. "Pretty light for a tin man!" Sonic joked, nearly striking Gaol with a high-speed attack that is repelled by his spun cape.
Weiss and Lucina attack next with a coordinated assault that does keep Gaol at bay to be shot at by Pit's arrows. Swiftly, he too repels the girls before summoning a reflective shield to strike the angel with his own arrows right as Spidey knocks him onto his throne with a surprise web swing kick. The Webslinger binds him there with webbing then tries a smashing Web Strike, which fails as soon as Gaol burst free from his restraints and grabs the bug in midair by the throat before slamming him hard to the ground.
"We must thank you, Spider-Man. Your world's ISO-8 has done wonders for our strength." mocked Gaol, brutally pinning down the spider-hero with her ISO-8 power.
"Thank me by not trying to kill me…And by washing your armor. It's filthy and smelly…" Spidey quipped, struggling to free himself from his terrible grasp.
"GET OFF THE BUG!" shouted Magnus, unleashing a ferocious strike that forces Gaol off the webslinger.
"It's so typical of you to pawn off your work on someone else." quipped Gaol, firing magic missiles that knocks back the mercenary.
"Hey! In this economy, everyone's looking for work. Even part-time work." bantered Magnus, landing a fierce blow that was just as fiercely deflected.
"That's funny. Business is booming for me. We're even hiring more staff!" snarked Gaol, using dark magic to summon two Skuttlers by his side.
"Huh, are these the new hires?" Magnus joked, brutally trashing the goons into kingdom come before continuing his relentless assault on the dark lord.
"What's with these two? They talk as if they have history." Weiss commented.
'I don't know much about the situation…But it seems that Magnus and Gaol used to be close friends.' Palutena informed her heroes on what her all-knowing abilities can look up.
"What?! Seriously?!" The surprised Pit retorted.
Palutena continues, 'They were part of the same band of monster-fighting mercenaries. But Gaol's heart was weak, and he couldn't resist the temptation of the Underworld.'
"Seeing them fighting, it's hard to believe they were ever friends." Pit commented.
"I know of a Tactician that was the same. In my world, the darkness that was the Fell Dragon consumed his heart and forced him to kill his best friend. That friend was my father." Lucina remarked somberly, still never fond of those dark memories.
"I'm so sorry." Pit frowned.
'Magnus only knows one way to fight: ferociously. Perhaps his fire is fueled by the child he lost to Underworld troops.' Palutena stated.
"We had no idea. That's so sad…" Sonic said sadly.

"Hmmm…" Spidey murmured, looking as if he's mourning of a best friend he too lost to darkness a long time ago.
'Something on your mind, Spider-Man?' Palutena noticed, much to her own concern.
"It's nothing." Spidey lied grimly, "Let's finish this before more people get hurt."
BGM-Spider-Man Unlimited (Game) OST-Boss!
"Hey, enough chitchat! We need to concentrate here!" Magnus shouted at the heroes as they notice him struggling to block Gaol's massive laser.
"Feeling a little agitated, Magnus?" Gaol taunted.
"Don't make me laugh, 'dark lord'! Now put on some pants, and fight like a man!" Magnus quipped, losing ground against him if his allies don't hurry to assist him.
The Avengers are determined to finish this fight once and for all for Magnus's sake, with Pit and Lucina appearing behind and rapidly firing bow shots at the distracted dark lord to break his concentration on his laser beam. With this opening, Magnus assaults his rival with a brutal combo that ends with Sonic unleashing a devastating Spin Dash that smashes Gaol into a wall. Weiss tries assaulting him next but was a second too late thanks to his evasive flight abilities.
"We must restrain his movements!" Weiss proclaimed.
"Leave it to me! WEB CYCLONE!" shouted Spider-Man, creating a literal cyclone of webbing that sucks in the surprised dark lord into a nearly-unbreakable incapacitated state.
"NOW PUMMEL HIM!" Magnus encouraged, working alongside the heroes for an all-out devastating assault that pushes Gaol to his furious limits.
"THAT'S ENOUGH OUT OF YOU!" bellowed Gaol, unleashing a powerful explosion that knocks down all but Sonic and Spider-Man. The dark lord unleashes his full power, surrounding himself in a powerful fiery aura of demonic green energy before flying at the remaining heroes at incredible speed.
"Spidey! Crossover Combination!" Sonic quickly shouted at him of a team attack that could defeat Gaol.
"Oh yeah!" Spidey acknowledged by stylishly creating a large hammer made of webbing with a slot for Sonic to insert himself while dashing toward Gaol at intense speeds.
Spider-Man and Gaol collide their ultimate attacks, both struggling with all their might to try and overpower the other. For a moment, Gaol held the edge. But immediately after that, Spidey is starting to turn the tide to his favor with his immense spider-strength. And once Sonic empowers the web hammer with a Spin Charge that frightens the dark lord, Spidey roars out, "Web…BOOM HAMMERRRRRRRR!", and completely overpowers the villain with a hammer strike to the chest that possesses the destructive power of a sonic boom. The entire floor cracked from its tremendous shockwaving force and Gaol was sent flying through his throne in a blink of an eye, which no doubt left him defeated and Magnus, as well as Palutena, stunned by the heroes' combined power.

"Dark lord suppressed!" Pit cheered.
"Nice work, kiddies!" Magnus grinned proudly at them.
Utterly decimated, Gaol stumbles backward and collapses, causing his armor to break apart. But to the surprise of all but a somber Magnus, the defeated dark lord is revealed to be an unconscious human woman. "Gaol was a human woman?" Lucina commented.
"Ironic coming from you." quipped Sonic, since there was a time Lucina disguised herself as a male warrior.
"…I'm sorry it had to come to this." Magnus frowned somberly, expressing remorse for defeating his corrupted friend.
"What have we done…W-We didn't know…" Pit said sorrowfully.
'You can't feel bad. Just think of all the other people you've saved.' Palutena assured him.
Solemnly, Spider-Man kneels down next to Gaol to check on her. To find out if she's alive or not. "You can calm down, Pit. She's still holding on." Spidey reassured him of Gaol's survival.
"Really?!" Pit happily rush over to Gaol himself.
"That beating knocked the corruption outta her. Get her to a safe place, Magnus. She needs rest." Spidey suggested to him.
Magnus smiles at his new friends, "I will. Thanks, Avengers. I owe ya. Each of you have a good heart, and a strength that far surpasses my own. I know now that together you can change this world for the better."
"We won't let you down." Spidey promised him while getting up, "Let's regroup. The war against Medusa is just starting."
The team nods sternly to their leader as a pillar of light appears over them and lift them off the ground. Before they are whisked away, the Avengers wave their final goodbye to Magnus, who nods at them back as he watches the heroes return to the heavens.

KFX Here: This was a fun chapter to write. One major difference in this remake chapter is that Palutena was reluctant to accept help from mortals. This ties into her brand-new mini-arc that takes inspiration from Thor's arc from the MCU's Thor (2011) film.
